I think saying all eyes are on Memphis right now is an understatement. Just heard about it on one of those radio news snippets they have between programming. I really hope this horrible situation doesn’t explode into something more damaging to our society that is already literally hanging on a fringe.4 points

Up for sale is a rifle I never shoot. It is a Browning 71 in 348 Winchester. Of course this is Brownings version of the Winchester 71. These were only made for 2 years, ‘86-‘87. Factory ammo is very expensive but luckily I have a bunch of ammo to go with the rifle. I think I still have the box for the rifle but I am not positive. I have 120 rounds of factory ammo. 40 rounds are new manufacture and 60 rounds are vintage manufacture. Most vintage ammo sells for $140 per box or higher. I also have 220 rounds of reloads. I am selling the reloads as components. So if you reload it gives you a lot of brass and bullets to use. $2500 for everything.2 points

I wanted to post a couple of good sources of legal info related to firearms legal subjects that I have been utilizing recently. With all the current issues being addressed, they usually provide a nice concise, legal analysis on what is going on. Daniel Shaver shooting. Police officer had “You’re f’d” on his rifle. Clearly a bad Apple. Every profession has them. Claimed PTSD, still getting a pension as far as I know. I’ve stayed away from this thread because I’ve tried to reserve judgment until the video comes out. That being said… After seeing the video of him skateboarding I’m fairly confident that even not being in peak physical shape I could fireman carry him over my back without worrying about it. I used to lift bundles of shingles or bags of mortar up scaffolding that weighed as much as him. Not even considering the fact that center of gravity on someone that tall and skinny should be relatively easy to take down and control.. Again, not peak physical shape… I believe in law and order, I have many LEO friends. That being said there’s no reason why someone who weighs 140-160lbs sopping wet should be jumped by 5 guys that look like they could be a DE at a DIII school. And beaten like that. I’m reserving judgement until the footage/details are released, but If they try to get cute and edit it than I feel like that’s clear cut malfeasance. I certainly didn’t agree with the Portland OR riots that lasted for three months, but I also was not okay with plain clothed jack boots with no identification grabbing people off the street and throwing them in a minivan. Again, all for law and order and a general supporter of policing policies as a law abiding citizen. That being said… if they release a redacted video I’ll have no choice but to believe it really was too heinous to show.2 points

You will absolutely have an entire nation of agitators swarming in to raise hell of some kind. Sharpton, Crump, main stream media, and social media will help guarantee that. I pray that I’m wrong as well.2 points

I once held hope that Memphis would not go insane over this. As bad as things got around the country during George Floyd, what happened here really was almost entirely peaceful. that hope is gone. Al Sharpton is giving the eulogy at the funeral and Ben Crump is giving “a call to action” at the same. I now believe that we will have a lot of outsiders stirring the pot here and making this something that it otherwise would not have been. I pray I’m wrong.2 points

The kidnapping charge is what's got me. It leads you to believe that they didn't have cause for a stop or arrest. I want to watch the video before I judge anyone's actions. This is no different, however everyone that believes its okay to hurt random people because of this are as bad as the people that committed the original crime.2 points

I don't need this one, but I have one. Perfect tractor pistol for me for snakes. Better than pistol caliber shotshells or carrying a rifle in the tractor.2 points

I grew up in the areas that these people call dangerous and refuse to go into. The people you are talking about are some of my closest childhood friends and I’d go so far as to say brothers. I’ve met plenty of people that would jump at the chance for a lawsuit from a car wreck or falling in a business but I haven’t met a single one that would risk an encounter with the police for that opportunity.2 points

I miss mine. It really makes me sad to remember that fateful day of the boating accident. However, that’s what I get for trying to hunt ducks with a braced pistol.2 points

I have 3 boxes, 20 rounds each of this ammo, plus 14 loose rounds. Asking $100 for the lot of 74 rounds. This is well below the cheapest price per round that I have seen anywhere for this ammo. FTF Transaction in or near Murfreesboro. I am aware that I am only showing 4 loose rounds in the picture. I have 10 more in a mag that I forgot to put in the photo.1 point

The CBS evening news had this as their lead story tonight and spent a good 5 minutes on it. That was followed by a story of how other big city PDs are preparing for unrest when the video is released. BTW: the reason the video won't be released until sometime after 6:00 pm on Friday is so the people have time to get off work, make it home, businesses have time to close and traffic can clear before the video hits. It seems that the whole country is expecting riots over this. I really, really hope they're wrong.1 point

Great pistol. At one time it was either a 1911 or BHP in a choice of quality semi-automatics in the US. The BHPs of this eras always had a stylish good looks, beautiful bluing, and striking grips. Someone will be fortunate to give this lovely a new home.1 point

Looks like the video is going to be very bad. The former officers have been indicted and jailed. Pastors as well as local and federal politicians are calling for peaceful protest and begging for calm after the video release. Second degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct and official oppression are the charges.1 point

I'm thinking of the retired - mid-70's guy at church on Sunday - who's really not a shooter but has bought the marketing of this thing through and through. Sort of a "those shotgun rounds will turn a home invader into a bowl of jelly in my front entry hall" kind of person. I think that person is watching their 401K right now and buying the standard model. I'll let you know though - I have a decent number of this exact demographic in my social circles.1 point

Isn't basically a scaled Tok? Sorta looks like one. Personally like the little .32ACP caliber. It's very pleasant to shoot. Still looking for a nice Beretta Cheetah in .32acp.1 point

I can’t comment on that particular model but .32 ACP is generally a very pleasant and accurate cartridge. You may not need to hunt too far for ammo. I have a supply that I’ve been thinking of moving on as I no longer have a .32.1 point

If this term is being used by police and prosecutors that you know, it speaks volumes about them. You may not realize what exactly is being spoken, but it’s the quiet parts out loud.1 point

Yeah, I’m tracking you. I never responded to any of your post, because I already had you pegged based upon your interactions with other members. I took your advice and googled the term. You’re correct, I had never heard it before. I guess I don’t associate with the same type of people you do. You are the company you keep. Stay classy!1 point

We’ve both been on TGO for many years, and I’ve recounted several stories of my life here. There is nothing that I’ve shared that was imagined or false. Thank God you will never know the feelings I’ve expressed or experienced. It’s not as easy as cooperating. How many times have you heard law enforcement yelling for an individual to calm down while experiencing a traumatic experience? Some people can’t overcome the fear of the situation. If everything you’ve seen, heard or experienced tells you that an interaction with a cop will go south, you are currently experiencing your worst nightmare. You are correct, I would never escalate a situation or run from a cop, but that’s only because I’ve had the experience of being on the other side. Most in society don’t have that benefit.1 point

People scared for their lives don’t think or act rationally. That makes the responsibility of the agents of the state to act correctly and justly all the more important. Yeah, it’s a difficult job, but it’s no excuse for what went on here.1 point

I think it was Chuck Taylor who said “Beware of the man with one gun.” I don’t see anything wrong with switching from one platform to another for a while. But the guy who carries a CZ on Monday, a Glock on Tuesday, a 1911 Thursday, and a J-frame Saturday is not helping himself.1 point
