Hello! My name is Hannah Church. I’m IHJ’s youngest daughter. He passed away New Years Day. If anyone needs to get in touch with me about his wake, or would like to post any nice memories with my father I’d appreciate it. Reading all these comments about my Papa has made my morning. He always talked about his friends on his gun forums. He taught me to shoot when I was a kid. Thank you all for being a part of my Papa’s life and loving him as I did. 6157854190 is my number for anyone who would like to be invited to his wake. It will be this Sunday in Nashville, TN. the attached photo below is my sister mother papa and 2 years ago. Please enjoy this picture of him.7 points

I never had the pleasure of meeting him but he sounded like a great dad and all around good guy.My condolences to you and the family during this time.3 points

I got a new Timex for Christmas. I wanted something with more contrast between the face and hands so it would be easier for my old eyes to read. This fit the bill.3 points

Thank you for posting this. I and the men I usually eat dinner with in Cumberland City always enjoyed seeing him pull up to the store. He was always polite and kind to everyone. He was a fine man and I’m thankful for the time we got to spend with him.2 points

The 30-30 is a “Sears Ted Williams Model 100” which is basically a rebadged Model 942 points

My CZ 75b weighs in at 35.5 oz and my 97b weighs in at 41.3 oz. I carry both so 2.47 lbs doesn't faze me. As I prefer metal guns and that's all I've ever carried for 50 years, it's not a disqualifier for my style. With a quality gun belt made for the job, it will hold up my gun and my pants without sagging. I can understand that the weight will bother some people though.2 points

I no longer reload for the AR platform. The following is from my personal inventory. I am simply trying to recapture some of my cost (and labor): 5.56 NATO Range Brass (240 each total) Spent Primer removed Stainless Steel Pin Cleaned Small Base Die Sized Length Trimmed Case mouth deburred inside/out Primer Pocket crimp removed Primed with CCI #400 Small Rifle Primer (non-magnum) Ready to add your powder and seat bullets 62 gr. FMJ Bullets with cannelure (300 each total) I purchased them bulk at The Reloading Bench in Mount Juliet I believe they are Winchester $75 $100 for the total package. I would consider trades including .380 ACP or .32 ACP ammo (preferably self-defense ammo).2 points

It’s improper etiquette to haggle in the thread. That should be done via DM/PM2 points

Well I just picked up a .30-30 lever to go with the Rossi. That makes three (Henry 22 not pictured) so I officially have a collection. I guess I have to get a 4th now. I know it will be considered blasphemous to some, but I plan on putting a vintage scope on the .30-30. It already has the side mount plate attached so I feel obligated to put on a scope.2 points

Call the bank. I did today and they're canceling the contract and refunding all I've paid so far1 point

Square barrel, new locking system, new trigger mechanism. Looks like somebody has finally gotten innovative. its good to see something new in handgun design. I'll be interested in seeing how it works out and holds up. But honestly, I really don't think its my thing. I do applaud the idea though.1 point

I know IHJ was active in many forums and touched many in the shooting community. I'm so sorry for your loss.1 point

Very interesting new look. I have always liked RIA. Great guns at a fair price. I may have to start saving my pennies also1 point

Sounds promising American made. Steel. Hammer. fired. Average looks. But a square barrel. that’s new. I would be interested if at a good price point. Seems RIA is stepping it up.1 point

My thoughts about HEV versus BEV are a lot more nuanced than just thinking about energy production. The “greenness” of BEV‘s has been vastly overstated with the carbon and pollution footprint of battery production having been greatly obfuscated from the general public by the nature of their production in other parts of the world. There is also the very real and pressing matter of resource security for the elements required to produce the batteries like the lithium and cobalt. Elements that we do actually possess reserves of in conus, but will not mine because of the massive ecological impact involved in doing so. That’s not even to get into more practical street level concerns like emergency energy, delivery or household charging. in addition, while the breakthroughs in fusion energy production are exciting and very promising, the reality is that nuclear power has been safe to the point of being essentially harmless for over half a century. The lies and fear-mongering of Greenpeace and the anti-nuclear lobby regarding nuclear power were well sold to the public by people with vested interests in preserving the fossil fuel industry.1 point

Or, you can sell the ammo. Then with the $$$, you can get something you may want more! Just throwing that out there.1 point

There are or were several hydrogen powered vehicles on the market a few years back. I’ve still yet to see a hydrogen fueling station. I assume they were popular in the heavily populated places like LA but the rest of the country wasn’t ready. And the fear mongering about hydrogen will have most consumers terrified.1 point

I know drinking water can be used for flushing but I keep them separate because the drinking water gets refreshed at least twice a year and the flushing water doesn't but would use the drinking water if needed. We have a demand water heater so no extra storage there. Before I started refreshing the drink water I put 1/4 tsp/gallon but decided since we are on town water they are already adding chlorine.1 point

Way back in 1992 when I got my first Handgun Permit issued by the local Sheriff, we were required to shoot the then current Sheriff's Dept qualification course. Not exactly the same, but very close. We also had to re-qualify every year until the state wide permit came into being. (1996?) You could only carry the gun you qualified with. In my case I used a 2" Colt Detective Special. Last time I shot the course I scored a 93. But that was 30 years ago. I doubt I could do that well today with a 2" revolver.1 point

The Greenies push EVs, the politicians grab the hot topic and neither can understand that we just don't have the technology or the infrastructure to make it work. The fantasy far outweighs the facts.1 point

I've been thinking a .357 lever is my next conquest, to go with the 686. Thanks for all of the positive reinforcement! Jay1 point

Seen him Sat. walking in the building as I was leaving. Talked to him a couple months ago said his leg was bothering him and that he was hit by a car some years back and he almost lost it. Nice guy RIP1 point

Us old farts have it made. After the brutal end has come, we can stroll by with our tools and simply pick up the unopened cans lying next to the malnourished, deceased bodies of the young. We can leave notes in cursive that they won't understand..... The old saying, "Age and treachery will always overcome youth and vigor!" Jay1 point

You might check out Teds in Columbia, I've never used them for transfer but they have been suggested to me before. I have done several transfers via The Saddle Shop in Triune (15 min east of Franklin) for $30.1 point

Manufacturers have responded by making carry guns smaller and smaller yet people keep adding on doodads and extended magazines to get back where we started.1 point

I have one on a Buckmark and frankly, when bringing the pistol up to eye level, I have a devil of a time trying to find the dot. Is there some trick to this I'm missing? I'll also mention that I'm a big fan of the KISS principle and ain't much for adding extra do-hickies to my carry guns.1 point
