  1. Not exactly training, more of a test. Beech is good people and makes the FBI qualification look pretty easy. I'm having surgery soon and will be off the range for a while, but I'd like to give it a shot in the next couple weeks if I can swing it.

  2. Brand new, never carried or cut with knife. This has been sitting in the safe the past several years. I carry my other Protech or Spyderco flipper models instead, OTF just isn't for me. Black handle, DLC black blade, mother of pearl button, TGO custom edition #12. No marks on the knife, includes original box and carry case. The standard Dark Angel is listed for $250+ on a couple of sites I checked. I believe this custom edition was either $225 or $250 at the time. I am asking $225 $200. Only trade interest would be a .22LR semi-auto rifle as I need another for my kids. I will add cash towards the right rifle trade. Located in Columba, meet around the area or willing to ship for actual shipping cost.

  4. The reason I buy gold and silver is a hedge against inflation, I don't look at it as an investment, more of another way to diversify my assets. I have money in a savings account that pays less than 1% interest, yearly inflation is much higher so, the spending power of the money in the bank is actually shrinking. It could very well loose value but gold and silver has never been worthless. Cash isn't very good to eat either and it won't do much to protect your life. I have a small percentage of my savings in gold and silver so I wouldn't call it hoarding, if I have a hoarding problem it's with ammo . I have 401Ks, IRAs and other investments including things that will protect my life if needed but, if the economy tanks I imagine the other investments will bottom out as well. Trying to follow the advice of not putting all your eggs in one basket.

  5. I doubt we’re even that close! The volume of vehicles they want fully electric can’t be supported by our electricity grids. Look at California asking/demanding folks not charge their electric vehicles during peak periods, and the rolling blackouts we had last month. And they don’t seem to be upgrading the grid, at least not as fast as we are growing our needs. We just need to start immediately producing and refining our own oil. I remember a comment by Bill Clinton when he was president and asked why don’t we build more refineries in the u.s to hs,p with the cost of gas. His response was it would take 10 years. Dumbass.

  8. Well I just picked up a .30-30 lever to go with the Rossi. That makes three (Henry 22 not pictured) so I officially have a collection. I guess I have to get a 4th now. I know it will be considered blasphemous to some, but I plan on putting a vintage scope on the .30-30. It already has the side mount plate attached so I feel obligated to put on a scope.

  13. It's a hedge against the dollar losing value and works because precious metals are sought after worldwide, even in a bad economy. Say I have $60. I save $20 of it in cash. I invest $20 of it in stocks. And I pay $20 for an ounce of silver. Then the U.S. suffers a severe economic downturn. My stock is now worth only $5. And due to outrageous inflation, the $20 cash I have can only buy $10 worth of goods. But the value of my ounce of silver rises with inflation. It also rises because other people buy gold and silver in bad times. So I can sell my ounce for $40, or $50. My net position in dollars is stabilized by the change in pm value.

  15. As an aside, check out Scotty Kilmer on Youtube. A real mechanic for 55 years, he gives you the lowdown on everything automotive. Listen to him, he knows his stuff, doesn't accept payola, and is hated by Chevy, Chrysler, Ram, Audi, BMW, Jeep, and other major companies for his honesty and pulling no punches. You'll save thousands on buying and repair costs. Plus, he's entertaining. Scotty Kilmer - Mechanic and Straight Shooter

  17. Do you prefer apples or oranges? As much as big bore rocks, I think 13 rounds of 9mm in a plastic pistol is far more practical for everyday carry purposes.

  18. I happen to be a huge fan of the .44 Special. Outstanding cartridge! Well known manstopper. I have been known to carry my S&W 696 from time to time. I guess it depends on what make and model you have and if you can comfortably carry and conceal it. However, I have to admit, the 9mm is probably more practical.

  22. A friend of mine bought an EV F150 and was not made aware that he should not run the heater when it got cold when he was talking with the salesman. He ended up returning it to the dealer and before he was done with them he left with a 2023 gas burning F150 and a refund for the difference between the cost of the two trucks. Now all the salesmen at that dealership is required to tell any potential buyers about the heater issue.

  25. In 2016 (wow, six years ago already) my favorite Washington Huskies won the Pac12 and earned a trip to the CFP, and the TV broadcast showed some coed holding up a sign reading, "We Want 'Bama!" Well, they got 'em and it didn't go as well as that young lady might have hoped.

  27. And they have matches at the Middle TN Sporting Association not far from where you @10-Ring are. You would be looking at shooting factory class. I am head deep into ARA so if you would have any questions, just let me know. They don't start shooting matches this year until April. Eagle Eye Shooting in Mt. Pleasant is farther for you, but Mathew typically has a lot of matches planned. His start in March. MTSA: http://www.americanrimfire.com/index.php/club/view/510 Eagle Eye: http://www.americanrimfire.com/index.php/club/view/495 A lot depends on what type of shooting you think she would like. ARA is off of a bench and more precision/accuracy oriented. NRL is going to be more interactive with different stages, distances, etc. If it matters, ARA doesn't have youth only shoots. Everyone shoots at the same time but this hasn't ever been an issue. We have many young shooters around the country.

  29. I purchased the LCP Max a few months back. Carrying the pistol in a Nemesis pocket holster, strong side. Have 450 rounds of practice and S D ammo through it with no failures. Really like it but will not carry the pistol without the trigger covered in a holster. Using Hornady Critical Duty 147 Gr HP +P ammo. Accurate and hard hitting. Really dings steel targets much harder than practice ammo. Hardest hitting 9 MM ammo I have ever used. I have had no safety issues with the Max 9 at all. Carry it often.

P71 with street appearance package (chrome grille/hubcaps) cloth interior. 2004 is considered to be one of the best years made, it has upgraded brakes, suspension and engine over earlier years but also less electronics than later years. No check engine lights, runs and drives fine, ac/heat both work great. Asking $3000 cash Nashville area

  35. I went with the Mossberg 590 Shockwave as I much prefer the safety location over the Remington safety location. I sent in the NFA application and received the tax stamp at which point I promptly removed the bird head grip and added a 590 stock. Great short barreled shotgun. The wife loves shooting the mini shells from the compact gun.

  36. Defender, I have helped someone three times for what you are talking about doing. Only one of the times was guns and the other two were guitars. The smallest collection was over 350 guitars and about half that in amplifiers. Two times it was with someone who was at an age they thought they should slim down the collection while they were still here to know what was being sold, the values, etc. Once was my Dad's stuff after his death. There has been a lot of good advice for ranking, deciding, and planning. I will offer you one piece of advice. Do what brings you peace and joy about it. If your focus is liquidating a good segment of a collection for your wife after you are gone. Focus on the valuable guns that you are confident you won't shoot anymore and convert them into a nice nest egg you can invest for her somewhere. If you are concerned with the sheer workload you might leave someone to deal with then find a younger friend that enjoys the selling and give them an understanding of what you want done so your wife isn't burdened. In the end, as much as we all enjoy them, it is just stuff. Hope that helps.

  37. I am a little gun nerdy, each gun I own (quite a few) have a acquisition story, meaning why did I acquire the piece in the first place, none of the acquisitions were by happenstance, each had a plan to be acquired. I have logged all of the history in my tracking spreadsheet, but I also have a "keeper" scale from 1 to 10 assigned to each gun. 1 is for the dogs and the 10s are never part until I am gone. Anyway, when I get to the point of thinning the herd, I am going to sell off using the "keeper" scale starting with the lowest rank to the highest rank. Only you can decide through your own methodology (personal/acquired/etc.) how you would rank each gun.

  38. First sell plastic guns and milsurps you don't want or care about, keep your family heirlooms, hold onto classic guns in good shape as they appreciate at a faster rate than Glocks and ARs. Tons of non-gun people bought guns in the last three years of panic buying. Never shot them after 2 visits to the range, paid too much, spent more money on tactical doodads, and are now needing money. In many cases a buyer can get that same gun for 1/3 to 1/2 off what was paid. So those guns will take a while to gain any value. Classic milsurps like full military Enfields, Swiss K-31s, German Mausers, M1s, M1 Carbines, M1As, are premium dollar getters in very good to excellent condition. Sporterized versions are always suspect and in the last 30 years have often been Bubbarized. If you have any of these sell them. Guns like Mosin-Nagants, Yugo 8mms, and other 2nd-tier milsurps in less than very good condition are still bringing in money, but I'd sell them first. I sold all my milsurps but my M1 Garand and never missed them. Get rid of guns you won't miss that take up space in the safe and in your mind. You may find that once you start cleaning out it becomes easier to do and can be mentally rewarding. You'll make a few dollars and enjoy getting rid of excess stuff you'll never use. Maybe you'll make enough to buy a gun you always wanted. Better to have a few guns you treasure than a safe full of guns that are only wood and metal.

  40. If it kicks hard, sell it. If it's inaccurate, sell it. If it's broken/non-functional, sell it. If it's chambered in a funky cartridge you can't buy or is super expensive, sell it. If you look at it & have no feelings for it one way or another, sell it. That should get you down to guns you like, you can shoot, & you can still enjoy having around.

  41. That's only true in the Urban Service district of the county. As a general guide, if the city picks up your trash you're in the Urban Service area. If you pay a private company to do it, you're in the General Service area. Shooting is fine in the General Service area, but these days a lot of that is too crowded to do it safely. But there are still undeveloped/sparsely populated areas esp. in the NW corner of the county where shooting is legal and can be done safely. I know this doesn't apply to the OP, but it may help a future reader.
