  1. This country is in a cold culture war. We are split into two groups; the " elites " vs " real people "... The mix varies with where ya live... I wouldn't worry too much here in Tennessee... If I lived in Illinois, New York, Kalefornia, or the northern west coast; I would move... Look at the cross section of humanity ya see at the gunshop... I predict we will become more n more free, but there will be some pretty nasty skirmishes along the pathway... Do not fear them... When in doubt or when anxious, buy or reload more ammo. That is all... leroy

  2. He wasn’t a heavy poster in general, but he was very active in the trading post. I am convinced that he read every single ad in the trading post. I think most of our reports of issues with ads originated with him. He was very helpful in keeping this place running smoothly. His presence will definitely missed.

  3. If it kicks hard, sell it. If it's inaccurate, sell it. If it's broken/non-functional, sell it. If it's chambered in a funky cartridge you can't buy or is super expensive, sell it. If you look at it & have no feelings for it one way or another, sell it. That should get you down to guns you like, you can shoot, & you can still enjoy having around.

  7. Judge rules on constitutionality of New York's ban on guns in churches, finds it fails muster under Bruen. From the article: "A federal judge ruled Thursday that New York’s ban on concealed carry weapons in churches is unconstitutional, according to court documents." Appears the lower courts are using the chain saw and not the scalpel.

  12. Still digging into the CZ closet.... this time it's a Scorpion pistol with some add on goodness that includes: 1. Gear Head Works Tailhook brace 2. OLight Odin with pressure switch 3. Sightmark red dot/reflex sight 4. Mags and ammo. Total of 11. 8 - 30 rounders and 3 - 20 rounders. Four of the 30 rounder are brand new and never used. The other four and the 3-20 rounders come fully loaded up for a total of 180 rounds of ammo. Pretty sure it's all 158 grain subsonic Fiochi but don't hold me to that... ***** Please note the suppressor pictured obviously does not come with it. I have a tri-lug mount on it and can leave it or put the original flash suppressor back on it. ******* I have maybe 200 rounds through this one, zero issues. It does have the original CZ iron sights. Feel free to PM me with questions $1150 takes it all

  16. With the new General Assembly about to begin, it is imperative that we get our legislators on record with regard to their opinions regarding the recent Bruen decision's effect on gun laws in Tennessee. We have begun to see how it has worked in some State and Federal court cases, e.g. Peres-Gallan in the Federal Western District of Texas where US 922 (g) (8) was declared unconstitutional and the more recent New York Supreme Court ruling in G.W. v C.N. case there the New York Red Flag Laws were deemed unconstitutional. Please, every person whos desires to see the "intent to go armed" clause of the TCA done away with, write and actual letter to your State Representatives and more especially to your Senators asking how they see the Bruen decision will affect their support for repealing TCA 39-17-1307 (a) (1). Actual written letters will normally generate a written response. If I can get an on paper answer to this very important question it will be very beneficial in the coming year. I will catalogue those responses to the benefit of the 2nd Amendment (and 14th Amendment) friendly constituents in Tennessee. I would also be appropriate to write the Speakers of both chambers, as well as the governor, as each of us is their constituent, along with all members of the House civil and criminal justice sub and full committees and the Senate Judiciary committee once they are named for the year. It will take a little bit of time, effort and a few dollars but it will be vastly beneficial to the effort.

  17. News from the House tells me that it is more important then ever that we gear up and contact our Senators. This can be a very good year, if we will but jump start the Senate.

  18. That Tulane/USC game was some mighty fine football! I thought the ending of the MS State game was crazy but this one was something else. I guess Purdue gets a participation trophy for actually being at their game so LSU could take care of business.

  19. I went with the Mossberg 590 Shockwave as I much prefer the safety location over the Remington safety location. I sent in the NFA application and received the tax stamp at which point I promptly removed the bird head grip and added a 590 stock. Great short barreled shotgun. The wife loves shooting the mini shells from the compact gun.

  21. This is unsatisfactory. His friends and relatives have my sincere condolences. Based on the evidence provided, I've moved John's account to In Memoriam status. Folks, I hate it when this happens, but it is supremely helpful to me when news of these events is shared here on TGO. I'm able to do some minor clerical work and cancel any automatic renewal of Benefactor memberships so that those dealing with estates do not have to worry about a surprise charge against a bank account. RIP, John.

  25. Yeah, encryption is a challenge. In my part of middle Tennessee, a Uniden Homepatrol II picks up a lot of transmissions. It's useful for following utilities and other public agencies that haven't gone with encryption. I'm also surprised at the number of GMRS repeaters and the associated amount of radio traffic. It's also amazing how much radio traffic has been diverted to cell phones.

  26. No, you can't listen to encrypted channels without the encryption key. Most of what you want to listen to is encrypted: https://www.radioreference.com/db/browse/ctid/2521 https://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Encrypted_Agencies#Tennessee

  27. I haven't thinned down like that myself but it seems like I would start at the back of the safe and work towards the front in the event that I needed to. I have a lot of guns that I've never fired and at this point those fill a very small "what if" niche. The majority of those were given to me by my father in law when his mental health deteriorated. I don't feel that it is my place to sell them despite not having a use for most of them. I figure I'll just pass them down to my son eventually. Of course if you aren't selling to find another project, clean them up good, lube them heavy, and stick them in the safe. Let them be someone else's problem once you are gone. Especially if having them makes you happy. Just the musings of a middle aged man

  28. I would say 7.62x39 for hunting and 5.56 for home defense. With all the bans on russian ammo, that still wont dry up the supply. Multiple countries make ammo, plus american companies make ammo now. You should get both

  33. Us old farts have it made. After the brutal end has come, we can stroll by with our tools and simply pick up the unopened cans lying next to the malnourished, deceased bodies of the young. We can leave notes in cursive that they won't understand..... The old saying, "Age and treachery will always overcome youth and vigor!" Jay
