Have hand loaded a bunch of 148 grainers in the old days. Generally to about 850 to 900 fps. They work like a charm... They will tend to keyhole at ranges over 40 yards or so. Loaded the 158 LSWC at 5.3 grains of Unique with anybody's brass n primers for about 900 fps... This one is the " FBI Load " as I remember. They work best in K frame pistols n shoot very well. I would get that one. The FV-SR stock is horrible and you would want to replace it anyway. I have the FV-SR and replaced the stock with a Boyd’s. Savages are a bit rough, but they usually shoot above their price point.2 points

Looks like a stripped-down version (no replaceable grip or foreend) of the Boyds AT-ONE gunstock. As long as it has the adjustable LOP and comb, that's the major features I'd want from the stock. If you go back to get one, be sure to pay attention to the grip angle. Some people hate vertical grips for the type of shooting they do. If the color (zombie hunter green) doesn't grow on you, a paint job or a sanding and restain can fix that. The short mag in it looks like the 5-round magazine. I'd pickup a couple of the 10-round mags.2 points

Here's a rare one for you.... CZ 75 Compact with a rail chambered in 40 S&W. Picked this one up earlier this year in pre-owned but I believe never fired condition. (I talked to the original owner and he said he never remembered firing it and it didn't look like it) Not that it matters much since the first thing I did when I got home was put 100 rounds through it It has not been fired since and looks the part, no issues and in all original condition with two mags, box, target and warranty card. Mfg test date of 10/10/08. Only thinking about selling to help fund the purchase of a DWx. Feel free to PM with any questions. $950 I'm located in WTN, near Jackson. Will meet half-way if you are coming from the mid-Ten area.1 point

M*CARBO has the best trigger kit installation videos on CZs and a wide variety of other makes and models. Here's the one for the 75b from start to finish. CZ 75b trigger spring kit installation The CZ82 however, is notorious for being difficult and cussworthy. I have 2 but in 20 years it's never been necessary to do more than typical field stripping, thank God.1 point

Appreciate the response! Had an unexpected gift delivery at 3:47 yesterday. Heard some movement and switched the safety off until the fed ex guy came halfway up the drive and then tossed a package and slammed the gate. Then reversed down with the safety system beeping. And then had some activity at 5:02, sunset was 4:57 and at 5:12 I made an attempt to stalk. I couldn’t see confidently more than 30 yards so sat and listened and does seem they’re moving more at dusk. No luck near the morning stream yet but going to give it another shot tomorrow. Thanks for the input.1 point

Rock Island Armory Model 200 Six shot revolver that has been fired very little, probably not more that two boxes. This shoots .38 special (not .357). I have included with it a little holster and a small soft carrying case (tight but it works). No box. If you are looking to 'try out' a revolver but don't want to spend the big bucks on an $800 S&W, Ruger etc. this might be for you. Must be legal to own a hand gun. HCP flash preferred. Face-to-face only. I'll meet with in 30 minutes of Murfreesboro. I am looking for cash but may be interested in trades. This is an inexpensive gun so if necessary I could add cash to a decent trade. PM me if you have any trade ideas or with cash offers.1 point

Yeah the Walmart special is going to be mine if I can get back over there quickly and it's still there! With all the extras already on there I'd just as soon get it as I'll be spending at least as much if I get the Mk II FV-SR. Already have plans for the stock if the green doesn't grow on me, I've done a few stocks before. Actually just got through doing one for my neighbor on an unloved Lakefield 64B (Canadian Savage 64B copy) he ended up inheriting. I'm not great at it but at least they look better than they did before I started! Everyone knows that Zombie Green .22's are the most accurate anyway...1 point

I had bought the Savage 93heavy barrel in .22 mag and almost immediately installed a Boyds Thumb Hole Varmint-made a 100% difference- Like already stated they do shoot good for the price-I paid a little over $200.00 for the rifle and around $150.00 for the stock- I would go for the green machine if it were my choice-1 point

He will need to cock it. I'm curious as to why the compensator on the end of the barrel is upside down.1 point

That stock is a nightmare and the rail a bit much but if it’s a Mark II with bull barrel they are fantastic shooters.1 point

I haven't thinned down like that myself but it seems like I would start at the back of the safe and work towards the front in the event that I needed to. I have a lot of guns that I've never fired and at this point those fill a very small "what if" niche. The majority of those were given to me by my father in law when his mental health deteriorated. I don't feel that it is my place to sell them despite not having a use for most of them. I figure I'll just pass them down to my son eventually. Of course if you aren't selling to find another project, clean them up good, lube them heavy, and stick them in the safe. Let them be someone else's problem once you are gone. Especially if having them makes you happy. Just the musings of a middle aged man1 point

Just an observation of things the past few days. Let me start by saying I've lived here over 30 years through extreme cold, miserable heat, drought conditions and tornados. Never have I ever experienced rolling blackouts, water shortages as I have these past couple of days. Never. Yes it's been stupid cold but I've been here before. Seems everything has been geared up to welcome our new influx of folks except our grid system, water supply and other neat things to have, We are broke as a nation and state so I'm not optimist anything will be fixed or built to alleviate this anytime soon. Seems like we could have been a bit wiser on what we spent our money on... Go woke go broke. Just sayin'.1 point

I bought all the 40cal up years ago. It and 357 Sig two of my favorite calibers. I will not disclose how many rounds I have. Lol1 point

Agree. Has to be the most "dis-respected" caliber in existence and I don't get it. I absolutely love my Sig P229 in .40. Very nice round but gets no love.1 point

Not wanting to get bashed but Tractor Supply has good Safes. Decent priced. My wife works for them and we get a very good percentage off around xmas. Out on John Sevier HWY there is a Champion Safe store.1 point

My favorite's are my Beretta M9 and my Ruger P89. The Beretta's barrel stays straight and level which makes the rounds load straight in from the magazine to the barrel with no feed ramp needed. It's very hard to get one to jam. It runs and runs. That is why I like it. The Ruger P89 is just a big overbuilt reliable pistol. The neat thing about it is when it cycles , it seems to cycle just a tad bit slower than other pistols. It kind of sounds like "kachunk Kachunk" everytime the slide cycles. It will handle the lightest loads that you can make and the hottest loads too. I reload but never make any hot loads but many reloaders use these P-Series to test hot loads. They are that overbuilt and on the thick side but they are reliable.1 point
