  2. It was a High Standard Model 10 semi-automatic 12 gauge. I was a police detective in the 1970s at the time when the drug wars were beginning, and this was thought to be an 'ideal undercover weapon' (as said by the firearms salesman). Seems like it held four plus one. I wore it under long coats like a London Fog all-weather coat or trench coat. It had swivels for a carrying strap and I wore it slung on my right shoulder (it was a rh only gun). The idea was great but the execution was terrible. It swung around under the coat like a sack of coal, beat you up if you tried to run with it, was constantly gigging you with the handles, and on top of that was prone to ejection problems and failures to feed. It became as unwanted as piss ants in your bed and scorpions in your drawers. I bitched and moaned so much that finally the Chief of Detectives relented and it was removed from service. While it was the forerunner of short-barrelled guns to come, the execution of this monstrosity was an abomination. Never trust firearms salesmen.

  8. Hi I have this LNIB ATN X-sight 4K pro night vision scope for sale. Bought it for a potential hog hunting trip in Texas but have had no time to do it. Tested at the range to zero it. Very good review on Amazon. Long battery life, can see clearly 100-125 yards in the evening without extra IR light. With extra IR light you can see up to 250 yards in the darkness.Great for Hog or Coyote control. you can use it in day time too. The ballistic calculation and 1 shot zero functional are really handy New for $739+ tax. Asking $590 OBO.. or trade for 9mm ammo

  10. One of the joys in having guns is working on them for maintenance and improvements. After watching Practical Shooter on Youtube I made myself a wooden bench block. Wooden Bench Block by Practical Shooter Picked up a 4' outdoor stair tread that has 3 grooves running lengthwise. Check the board carefully and avoid knot holes and cracks. Cut a 12" square, and drilled plenty of 3/8 and 3/4 inch holes both in the grooves and on the flats. Round the edges with a router (could also use a 4-in-1 hand file, sandpaper block, or power sander). Sanded the grooves and flats with orbital sander 220 grit. I used it last night to replace a trigger pin. What a difference between the hockey puck-sized block and this 12 x 12. I also have a 3' piece left to make a block for long guns. The cost was $14.00 for the board and about an hour of work with tools. Money and time well spent.

  11. So just a quick review of the apex trigger for the shield plus. So the factory trigger in the shield plus was not completely awful but it was still bad. So I got the 165 dollar apex kit and installed it. On the plus side : The break and reset is MUCH better On the minus side: Both the trigger spring and sear spring in the kit are worthless if you're trying to reduce weight. According to my trigger pull gauge it was breaking at about 6lbs 11oz with the apex springs. Called apex and they suggested that I put in the original springs. Brought the pull weight to 4lbs 14oz. So tolerable.... Anyway.....there ya go. I haven't shot it yet but I don't expect any light primer strikes at almost 5lbs.

  15. Like new, round count is 8. I’ve owned this rifle for about 25 years. TRW bolt and Springfield CSR said it was probably all GI parts. Circa 1993-1994. GI collector walnut stock. I have 2 additional new GI 20 round mags to go with it if I can lay my hands on them. The buyer will have first dibs on approximately 500 rounds of Lake City .308 head stamped 2002 & 2004 loose in a 50cal can. $2000 cash for the rifle only, no trades. PM if you need additional info. Thanks, Tom

  16. Just in time foir Christmas, great first rifle for a youngun (the stock is adjustable) I have a Ruger 10/22 Model 10/22RPFTF for sale. This is the "Tactical" version with the Tapco Stock. The stock can be oriented in two ways. As I have it in the photos, the stock is angled down to mimic a standard angle to let you use the iron sights or a low mounted scope. The other orientation is staight back like an AR. I picked this up basically new from someone on here on the TGO. It shoots great and includes the standard 10rnd mag, a Rugar 25rnd mag, and a small red dot I added. I will through in a 100 rnd box of 22LR to get you started. The original box is included as well, although it is a little beat up at one end (came that way) I have put probably 200 rounds through it and it shoots great. I just have too many 22LR rifles and I want to fund other intrests. Located in Nashville. $350. TN License or HCP flash.

  21. I work with a system. There is a lot of things you can't do. It's impossible. Absolutely no way. What they don't expect is when I change the parameters of the question. You can't change logs for example. I show them the very colorful language in the logs and then ask them how a very expensive piece of equipment has an opinion on Joe Biden. I'm a very difficult person to deal with. LOL I've also used equipment from one manufacturer to control equipment from a different manufacturer. I've had the engineers standing there telling me it can't be done as I'm demonstrating how it works. He was stunned. Looked at me and said that's impossible. Someone programmed it to purge data. They can program in not to purge data, or change it to purge once a decade. Someone told it a case has to be attached to the plate. That sounds easy to get around. Tell it that that rule is no longer valid. Attach your target plate to a random case then remove it. Put the thing in test mode I can promise you that some people already know how to get around it. I've buddied up to engineers and programmers just enough for them to slip up and tell me something they shouldn't. LOL. At that point it's "let the games begin". There's been no telling how many software updates and equipment redesigns I've caused. They may be the best thing out there. They may save lives. They will solve crimes. Just don't tell they can't be abused. People will find a way. By the way, it's part of my job to expose the weaknesses of a widget. They fix anything I can find. Nothing in malicious, but I do have fun with it, and I hope it's saved people from harm. None of this is in an area that can violate someone's rights either.

  26. What I don't like is the cheap sights on a gun this nice. This is a really nice gun IMHO and it has their cheapest white dot sights. Even their Shield Plus guns (which I love) now have much better night sights at about 1/2 the price of this gun. If/when I get an optic for this gun, it will be the Holosun SCS that is made for this gun specifically so there won't be any mounting plates involved. Then these cheap white dot sights won't be an issue anymore either.

  35. I got one of these last year for $20 https://www.harborfreight.com/2-1-2-half-inch-table-swivel-vise-97160.html Can't use a brick, only opens a couple inches, but clamps onto my reloading/work bench just fine. Already had some jaw pads for my bigger vice, which work good so far. Works decently for light work like driving pins and straitening small items.

  36. To narrow it a bit. It looks like it has a selectachoke or such on it. Just a guess.Get the guy to send you a proper pic of the receiver and barrel markings. This is a real pet peeve of mine from sellers. Snap a totally useless pic and then expect everyone to jump at it.

  37. I can’t speak for the IRS’s intentions, but I would assume that most of their new hires are actually going to be working tax related issues. I’m still waiting on resolution of a 2020 tax issue. I filed and paid 2021 online to put the headache behind me. I wouldn’t read too much into the IRS supposedly arming their agents. With the exception of the bump stop, how many of these scare tactic internet rumors have been true over the last fifteen years?
