  1. Like new, round count is 8. I’ve owned this rifle for about 25 years. TRW bolt and Springfield CSR said it was probably all GI parts. Circa 1993-1994. GI collector walnut stock. I have 2 additional new GI 20 round mags to go with it if I can lay my hands on them. The buyer will have first dibs on approximately 500 rounds of Lake City .308 head stamped 2002 & 2004 loose in a 50cal can. $2000 cash for the rifle only, no trades. PM if you need additional info. Thanks, Tom

  2. The FTC actually has more room to act than about any group out there. Filing the complaint that lets them see the documentation of this company acting in bad faith over a period of time is important. Companies go out of business all the time. Continuing to take orders after you're effectively out of business is frowned upon. The resolution won't be quick - FTC cases go on for years. The money in this case is likely already gone for good. But, they can hold the management team accountable.

  6. Maybe it's just me but in too many gun shops today that claim to have a gunsmith, what they actually have is someone who assembles the latest and greatest tactical accoutrements to put on the tactical weapons the store pushes. Their knowledge is limited, skills slight at best, and take forever at easy stuff, but can tell you what camo is best, which armor plate you should be wearing, and how good they are with a knife. Ask them to fix a Browning Sweet Sixteen and you're greeted with a look best described as a six-year-old boy who is lost and scared. They're clueless. I'd love to see a list of knowledgeable gunsmiths around Tennessee who can do the job though maybe it's easier to find a pot of gold a drunk leprechaun lost on the way to buy gas.

  7. As we hear more about those who legally carry firearms and use them in self-defense, almost all discussions of shootings from someone legally carrying a firearm lead to these facts. Many people carry guns legally. Fewer people have a license to carry permit. Damn few that carry guns have the slightest idea of what the law says about self-defense, have ever given a cursory examination as to what constitutes actionable self-defense, and, should they use their gun, what to say to police after the shooting, how to present themselves to police, and what's going to legally happen to them afterward. That's scary. Do yourself and your family a favor. Stay out of prison. Educate yourself before you go to court for a shooting you're involved in.

  13. Just sharing recent experience. Been using Hornady LNL for about 10 yrs. Loading 9 mm 147 gr DG TC coated bullets. Had the press mounted on a custom I beam mounted on a bench and very nice ammo, super reliable in all guns. BUT, works so well didn’t want to change calibers (45) and monkey up the thing and spend time resetting. So I bought the In - Line Fabricator Universal mount that has the quick chande adapter. Then bought another LNL set it up for 45 ACP. Set it up for the 200 gr DG bullet TC. Brings up point #2. I was using a Redding Pro series seating die. Was shaving some of the powder coating on about a quarter of the bullets on the 45. Switched to the Hornady seater and stem and it’s perfect so far. Oh yeah, point 3 and main reason for post (old age) my Hornady powder measure is very consistent. Been using True Blue powder for the 45 - meters great and burns clean even with a relatively light 45 load.

  16. I can’t speak for the IRS’s intentions, but I would assume that most of their new hires are actually going to be working tax related issues. I’m still waiting on resolution of a 2020 tax issue. I filed and paid 2021 online to put the headache behind me. I wouldn’t read too much into the IRS supposedly arming their agents. With the exception of the bump stop, how many of these scare tactic internet rumors have been true over the last fifteen years?

  17. With all the good comments above...is it worth noting that the 87,000 new tax agents are trained(?) and armed? Could they be shifted over to BATFE as enforce ment agents? Send them out to search for people with a brace at ranges?

  20. HP - I'm going to guess you read some of the early threads that were speculating on what was to come. I found a lot of confusing and contradictory info when I started looking into the P365 this year. Most of the bad info tended to come from 2018 threads.

  21. Well, I won't waste any more time looking. I've gone thru several pages of links and haven't found the one I saw yet. So let's just chalk it up to speed reading and misinterpretation. And yes...old eyes. But...I still think that's what I read in one of the reviews. In any case, since it seems I can still use the original mags, I may just order one of the WC modules for it.

  22. I have both the LCP Max and the Ruger Max 9. FWIW, I think they're both absolutely terrific. I'll be selling some other guns on here soon, since I don't see their continuing need in terms of concealability, now that I have these options. And also in terms of effective firepower. If you haven't looked into Federal's Hydra-Shok Deep ammo, and what's been tested and written about it, please take a look!. Not just the basic Hydra-Shok, but the Deep. The FBI and other LE agencies soaked up this ammo for quite a while but now you can get it. It's revolutionary. A Federal HSD out of a .380 is actually respectable and immpressive. Terrific in the 9mm. Crazy in .45. Take a look. Merry Christmas to all!

  27. Carried my Max 9 to church yesterday, the first day I have been back to church since my 4 stents were put in my veins around my heart on November 21st. Also, adult RSV is getting better. Had that since 21st also and still coughing. Really like how the Ruger carries in my pocket holster. Have ran a few more rounds through it, but the days of running 500 to 1000 rounds through one to break it in is over for now. Not a cheap thing to do any longer. Still I guess I have about 475 rounds of practice and S D ammo through the Max 9 and it has been flawless. It is a good pistol, and I can say I really like it.

  28. I only own one pistol with a brace. Its in 9mm and the brace was factory original equipment. So what happens here? is there any Grandfather provision? The brace was legal when the gun was sold to me. How can it be illegal now?

  29. I find it amazing as well how many I people I talk to in our community that spend a large amount of time and money on firearms, accessories and even a lot of training but haven't spent any time on educating themselves on the legality of carrying and self-defense law. The fudd lore is very strong on these subjects. I often even receive scoffs from people when I bring it up. Andrew Branca's book is cheap as heck and a great place to start. https://lawofselfdefense.com and on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@Lawofselfdefense The following two cover self-defense and firearms law and are great resources as well: William Kirk at Washington Gun Law. https://www.youtube.com/@WashingtonGunLaw Richard Hayes and Emily Taylor at the Armed Attorneys are another great reference. https://www.youtube.com/@ArmedAttorneys

  31. True gunsmiths are a dying art form. A real gunsmith can take any gun, regardless of make, model or age, and do any repair necessary up to and including making new parts as needed. They can work wood or metal and build a beautiful and accurate firearm from scratch. Now a days these masters are few and far between. As mentioned, most of the "gunsmiths" out there today are simply parts changers. I consider myself to be a pretty fair hobbyist. I do most of my own work and have built a couple of nice custom guns. What I know, I'm very good at because I took the time to read, study and practice. I also take my sweet time and pay very close attention to details. But I don't know near enough to consider myself any kind of gunsmith. My pride and joy is this S&W Model 28-2 converted into a .45 Colt Snubbie. This project took about 2 years to complete and was a valuable lesson in how to fix my own mistakes.

  33. Maybe I'm being naive but I think it will primarily be used to tack on to more serious charges. Yes of course you could be prosecuted for just the brace alone, but I'd be willing to say they are also hesitant based on the process of them reclassifying what a stock is and the likeliness that a court has an issue with it.

  34. As Session looms in the offing, the makeup of the committees in the House are being decided at this time. The chosen to sit in judgment on your right to arms makes a huge difference in whether restoring the intent of the Founders gets a chance to be heard. The individual who makes those appointments is Cameron Sexton. The Speaker has eyes on the Governor's mansion in 2026, and as the savvy politician he is, he is looking to build coalitions to ride on for that coming race. Now is the time to reach out respectfully and alert him to the fact that the populace has been watching the courts, and expect the State to agree with SCOTUS and return to the laws and principals in the era of ratification of the Constitutions which Bruen mandates as the only metric that can be used to infringe, (which is what government does, God gave us rights, government restricts them.) The recent case U.S. v Perez-Gallan states it perfectly, actions of government must align with the Nation's historical tradition of firearm regulation. As our analog of that time said the free men of this state have a right to keep and bear arms for the common defense (1796) the current statutes regarding "intent to go armed" being an "offense/crime" are unconstitutional. Letters, e-mails and calls to his office politely requesting the make up of Civil and Criminal Justice committees to be constructed with a view to positioning members who are Constitutionally minded instead of driven by the Chamber of Commerce are needed.

  36. I have had the Max 9 for a while now. Have run about 400 practice rounds through it (Win W B 115 gr RN) and 60 rounds of Winchester Defender 147 Gr + P Hp through it. I have plans of carrying this round for S D. It has been flawless. I allowed my grandson and son in law fire about 75 rounds through it at Thanksgiving. Have had no issues with it. It is very accurate and shoots to sights at 25 ft off hand. I really like the iron sight green pipe front sight. Easy to see for old eyes during the day. I have been pocket carrying it to church and around in dress clothes. It is flat and the 2 different mag sizes adjust well to different front pocket sizes. One magazine holds 10 and the other 12 rounds. Tighter pockets gets the 10 rounder and larger the other. I am using a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster, and it works well. I like the Ruger Max 9 and believe it will become my preferred church gun. Do like the 13 rounds on board. Does not hurt that I shoot it well. For IWB I have a SW MP 9C 2.0 9 MM for a larger choice. Also using the Winchester 147 Gr + P ammo in it for S D. The max 9 works well with the MP setup. I like Ruger firearms. Edited to add; The Winchester 147 gr hits my steel targets hard. Really pings them better than any S D Ammo I have on hand. Hard hitting round.

  38. Some of you probably know, but maybe some of you do not. Spartan Safe appears to be closed for good. I apologize if this is a dupe ( my search didn't return any results). I haven't been able to find a lot of info on the situation but figured If anyone else was impacted we could group it all together. I am not really optimistic there will be any refunds and I am beyond livid. I'm pretty upset at myself as well. I ordered a safe back in march 2022 at the Murfreesboro location. was told 2-3 month lead time. Not unusual so I paid for the safe and moved on with life. I went by the store in person to check on the status probably every other month up until November. It wasn't until early October I was told the safe was finally manufactured (he looked up the info on his computer and told me this) and should be on the shipping truck soon. Great news right? At this point is has been many months and was tired of this, and honestly wanted to get a refund. So late October I went in and checked on it. I was told the safe was set to be delivered to Murfreesboro within the week. Alright, I can wait one more week I told myself. 1 week goes by and no calls. I couldn't get back over to their store that week so it was on November 17 I finally went back to be done and get a refund no matter what I was told. This was the day I found the store was closed and the had a sign taped to the window saying go to their website. --- Turns out Liberty safes cancelled their partnership and that must have been the final straw for spartan. Ive submitted their refund request, but 7 days later received another email saying someone would reach out within 10-15 business days. We are at 10 business days from that email (not counting thanksgiving & friday) and still no response. On November 17 I called liberty because they offered to speak to those impacted by this situation. They were able to find my order and it turns out my safe was manufactured in May 2022! Spartan never paid them to release the safe for shipment. So my safe was sold long ago. Yet Spartan lied to my face saying it hadn't been built yet for months. And then lied again when they said it was getting ready to ship. My safe was long gone when they told me those lies. --- So here we are. Unfortunately I paid 1K in cash and the rest on my credit card. Which is where i royally screwed up. I should have just put it all on the card... Learn from my mistakes guys. My credit card company said to wait until the 10-15 days has passed before they begin the charge back process. So I will get a portion of this back, but not my cash. Hate it when you learn a hard lesson. I'm sure others are even more worse off because my safe wasn't even one of the expensive ones. -- TLDR: spartan safe took orders and money in store and never paid Liberty Safe for them. Liberty never releases safes and terminates their partnership. Spartan closes in the middle of the night. Customers are SOL. Any of yall tied up in this crapstorm?
