True gunsmiths are a dying art form. A real gunsmith can take any gun, regardless of make, model or age, and do any repair necessary up to and including making new parts as needed. They can work wood or metal and build a beautiful and accurate firearm from scratch. Now a days these masters are few and far between. As mentioned, most of the "gunsmiths" out there today are simply parts changers. I consider myself to be a pretty fair hobbyist. I do most of my own work and have built a couple of nice custom guns. What I know, I'm very good at because I took the time to read, study and practice. I also take my sweet time and pay very close attention to details. But I don't know near enough to consider myself any kind of gunsmith. My pride and joy is this S&W Model 28-2 converted into a .45 Colt Snubbie. This project took about 2 years to complete and was a valuable lesson in how to fix my own mistakes.4 points

This may be a tough one to move on here but figured I would give it a shot before GB. This is a very early Walther PP (circa 1935). It is possibly a factory Verchromt (satin nickel) gun but I can’t definitively say. The finish shows wear and age. The grips and finger extension on magazine are post war replacements, though the magazine is war time. I have included detailed pictures to hopefully answer any questions. I am asking $1900 face to face in Middle Tennessee. Would consider trades for other pre-1945 German pistols or high end AKs. Will need to see TN DL or HCP.3 points

I remember once listening to G. Gordon Liddy talk on his radio show in the 90s once about the ATF. He had a rather low opinion of them. Then there’s those Waco and Ruby Ridge things…maybe the ATF should be disbanded along with the FBI.3 points

I find it amazing as well how many I people I talk to in our community that spend a large amount of time and money on firearms, accessories and even a lot of training but haven't spent any time on educating themselves on the legality of carrying and self-defense law. The fudd lore is very strong on these subjects. I often even receive scoffs from people when I bring it up. Andrew Branca's book is cheap as heck and a great place to start. https://lawofselfdefense.com and on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@Lawofselfdefense The following two cover self-defense and firearms law and are great resources as well: William Kirk at Washington Gun Law. https://www.youtube.com/@WashingtonGunLaw Richard Hayes and Emily Taylor at the Armed Attorneys are another great reference. https://www.youtube.com/@ArmedAttorneys3 points

I really hope (and think) that most of the members I know on this list are not nearly that clueless as to entertain any of those options.2 points

Cool gun. The serial number chart I use says that this serial number belongs to a 1934 PPK, but the gun in your photo is clearly a PP, and there are some disagreements among the various SN listings of Walthers up through WW2. What a nice heater. Wish I could afford it. Cheers, Whisper2 points

As we hear more about those who legally carry firearms and use them in self-defense, almost all discussions of shootings from someone legally carrying a firearm lead to these facts. Many people carry guns legally. Fewer people have a license to carry permit. Damn few that carry guns have the slightest idea of what the law says about self-defense, have ever given a cursory examination as to what constitutes actionable self-defense, and, should they use their gun, what to say to police after the shooting, how to present themselves to police, and what's going to legally happen to them afterward. That's scary. Do yourself and your family a favor. Stay out of prison. Educate yourself before you go to court for a shooting you're involved in.1 point

Barely used. Comes with the hardware on it including the Romeo 5. Has had about 15 rounds through it. Was sighted in by one of our armored in the department. Asking $800. Available in the Knoxville area to meet.1 point

Hey guys, so I’m jumping headfirst into the super Moto thing. first off it has a rebuilt title I bought it that way. The guy said it was from a theft. I highly doubt it because it has frame sliders on it that have rash on them but there’s no rash on anything else on the bike. By saying this, it still rides shifts and runs like it should have put around 2000 miles on it in the Twisties East, TN. It does have a small dent in the tank from my kid trying to help daddy out by putting the bike up when it started to rain. It also has a flat spot about 8000 RPM where it feels like it’s cutting fuel for a second . I bought a power commander five to throw on it and have not tuned it yet. Now that I’ve scared everybody from buying it , let’s list a couple good things about it. 2012 with 11.5k miles Very stout bike but comfortable to ride all day ( detuned cbr1000rr motor) I’ve owned 68 bikes and rode plenty others and outside of a couple bmw bikes and triumphs this one is one of the most comfortable and easy to handle bikes I’ve thrown a leg over yoshimura r77 exhaust power commander V newer Michelin power sport tires I do not have the passenger pegs. I have no idea where I put them. I’ll take them off every bike I have because I don’t take passengers that’s the whole point of having a bike for me. feel free to contact me at 615-390-7867 with any questions I will give you everything I know and nothing I don’t. located near Opry mills mall May do some trading, but really like to sell as I have my eye on a Ktm 450exc which is undoubtedly, gonna get me in a lot of trouble asking $45001 point

Great condition. I added a Lone Wolf barrel with better chamber support so that I could shoot the hotter 10mm ammo. There is noticeably less deformation with the Lone Wolf barrel. Factory barrel is included too. Has an Overwatch Precision trigger, extended take down lever, and Ameriglo tritium 3 dot night sights. Also including a multicam Kydex chest holster. This is a really solid package at a great price. I have the original box with the different backstraps.1 point

It’s that time of year again, going to visit the family at the Nakatomi Plaza in L.A. for a Christmas Party. You’ll just need your trusty Beretta 92f to get you through the night. This package comes with 5 mags and two holsters. Does have some honest wear. Looking for $650 obo. Would also be interested in trades, especially a Rossi lever gun in .357 or a psa gf3 AK-47 or a usp compact in .40 or 9mm. May also be interested in partial trades.1 point

I appreciate it. Need it to go to free up funds for another purchase.1 point

I bought one of these from another TGO member last year and love it. I bought another one for a Christmas Present and just found out my son wants a different firearm so Im switching direction. This just was delivered this week, so I thought I would give TGO members a chance at it. I really like this eject mechanism can be flipped to the left hand side. It also has a threaded barrel. It takes GLOCK mags, and the caliber can be changed out easily with TNW Caliber kits. This one is in Dark Earth and comes whith what is seen in the picture. Really fun to shoot. Price is $700. Really want to sell it but I do have a wish list that includes Walther PDP SD Pro or Langdon Beretta RDO or Beretta M9A4 all in 9mm. Obviously I have cash to compensate. Must be legal to buy this in Tn. Will need to see Tennessee Drivers license and must fill out a Bill of Sale. I don’t expect anything long term to come of this. I could be wrong. It wouldn’t be the first time. The cost of litigation or the cost millions of free tax stamps or the cost of jailing those who don’t comply is simply something the budget wouldn’t allow. That being said, I do fully expect the ATF to implement some rule change concerning braces before the end of the year, but I believe it will be rescinded before the April 2023 amnesty period ends. This opinion is worth what you paid for it. Good evening!1 point

That's a pretty good price. I think the last I saw was going for $2 a pound. Pure lead isn't ideal for casting anything except black powder bullets, it's too soft for most bullets. I mix linotype or pewter in my lead pot to make the lead stronger.1 point

The ATF gets a guy to get on TGO and look at the guns for sale section. When they see sold and it's the same guy over and over, he'll get a visit. Now multiply that by every gun forum. Also Facebook has a bunch of empty gun boxes for sale that end up selling for $600-$700.1 point

I took Massad's "Armed Citizen Rules of Engagement" class back in the summer and learned tons of valuable information. It's frightening to learn just how much the prosecution will twist and manipulate the truth against a defendant in a court room even in a justified shooting. Highly recommended IMO. https://massadayoobgroup.com/mag-20-classroom/1 point

I came close. Went to Sparton last month to order a Liberty but did not order it when I was told it would be a 4 to 6 month wait. After hearing this I just went to Tractor Supply and picked up a Liberty there.1 point

If I might recommend a great book to read by Mas, it's "Deadly Force: Understanding Your Right to Self-Defense, 2nd edition Paperback." This is the new edition that comes out this week. I read the first edition and can honestly say that if you read nothing else, you'll have read the best one volume book ever on the self-defense issues you should know. ( I plan on ordering it myself this week as it has very current information.) Deadly Force 2nd ed. - Massad Ayoob. Thanks for your interest.1 point

I saw this one too. I don't have any productive words... From what I could see in the video on one of the papers, im 99% sure this was Memphis. It lines up with what the atf agents are referencing in that office. Also some of the photos the guy has posted (with his tesla) appear to be in Memphis. I wonder what shop it was?1 point

You're an optimist. Even good people do dumb things. With good people they make big errors out of fear and out of ignorance. "Ignorance" is not used derisively here. We are all ignorant about many things. But in carrying a gun and when to use it in self-defense and the aftermath of using it is an ignorance that can be overcome if the person wants to put in the effort. Just like we train, shoot, practice, and learn all we can about our firearms, equally important is to learn about the legalities of self defense. That takes work. But as a gun may save your life, so too can learning the whys, wherefores, and consequences of using that gun. The good thing is that knowledge is readily available.1 point

Here's some ideas that are believed to be right, but are wrong. 1. Drag 'em in the house so as to make it legal. 2. Ain't no jury gonna convict me. 3. I'll keep a throwaway gun with me just in case. 4. The lawyer who did my will is good enough for me. 5. Let 'em sue. I'll beat it in court (with the lawyer who did my will). 6. I ain't gonna talk to the police until my attorney arrives. 7. Everybody will see my shooting was justified. 8. My home insurance will cover me. 9. I'm ain't going to waste my time learning about legalities. And on it goes.1 point

It could depend on what you are hunting, where you hunt, and definately if you have your HCP. I refer to this as a general guideline "Pursuant to TCA 39-17-1351, persons with a valid handgun carry permit may possess a handgun the entire year while on the premise of any TWRA refuge, public hunting area, wildlife management area (including the North and South Cherokee WMA), and private land. For other federally managed properties hunters should contact that specific facility or location. Nothing in this subsection shall authorize a person to use any handgun to hunt unless such person is in full compliance with all wildlife laws, rules and regulations."1 point

Well, this strange. The other day when I started looking at this, I googled the WC Grip exchange and got more places to look than I could go thru. But I swear that one said that the WC module xchange did require the 17s. Perhaps a misprint of info. But i did see that. I'll look later for the offending link.1 point

primerswarehouse.com is a scam I placed an order and then got a text from someone telling me to send money through Zelle to some random person whose name was not listed on the website. This seems to be a common theme. buymymags.com is a scam I placed an order and six months later it still hadn't arrived, and the tracking number showed that the label was created and nothing had been shipped. There's no publicly available email address or phone number for them to contact them about it, and the only way to contact them is through creating an account. So if you did a guest checkout, you're just screwed, because the order doesn't show up on your account if you create it afterward... such as to ask why your order hasn't been shipped after six months.1 point

Kneepads look correct. MG42 is unloaded with soldiers finger on trigger. That seems staged. The front two guys also look a bit too old for fallschirmjagers. Plus the third guy is about to shoot his buddy in the back with that MP40. MP40 sling is on the wrong side of the gun.1 point

RSV better today. Still little hacking. Bersaguy, we are all here by God's Grace. God has been good to me, much better than I deserve. Have you guys ever wished you had more money to help really needy people you come in contact with? We have more than enough to take care of us in our retirement, but I got an unexpected windfall not too long ago. Not a large sum, but a good amount for me. I have determined I have need to use it very, very wisely. I feel it may be a test. I hope to give it all away to the needy over time. God has blessed me in my old age. Mind you I am not telling you this to be bragging here!!!! Just a feeling I got when receiving a large, totally unexpected check, in the mail a few months back. Thanks for your stories and witnessing guys. It is encouraging to me. To God be the glory.1 point

Actually CTD was once a good company. Well known for mil-surp ammo and equipment at good prices. I remember years back buying 1000 rd cases of 7.62X39 mil-surp for $75 each. IIRC somewhere about the time of the first serious ammo shortages of the 90s, they changed ownership. The new owners realized that they had warehouses full of cheap mil-surp ammo and gouged the hell outta their customers for it. CTD had ammo in stock when nobody else did. But you would have to pay dearly for it. Since then its been all about making as much money as possible and the hell with the customer.1 point

Updating a long-dead thread, but there actually have been some Mosins imported this year. One of Finland's biggest collectors recently started liquidating at least part of his collection (rumored to number 20k rifles), Century brought in a bunch of M28's and M28/30's which have been gradually making their way to distributors this summer. Anyone who's still looking for the proverbial $100 Mosin will be disappointed though, most of these are selling quickly at $800 and up ...1 point
