Assuming they aren’t misused today doesn’t prevent them from being misused in the future. Once that camel gets his nose under the tent, the rest of him will surely follow.7 points

I had open heart surgery that required five bypasses, as I was preparing for that, my heart surgeon wanted to run a couple of more tests cause I was so low on blood, long story short also have stage four Colon Cancer and stage Four Liver Cancer. I always said go big or go home, that was two years ago last month. They gave me a Five year window to beat the Cancer, I've been on Chemotherapy Treatments for two years now twice a month. I hear you on making peace with God and I've done that, so hopefully when my time comes I'll be able to stand before him and hopefully he will let me in. A little quote I have is: "WHEN MY TIME COMES, I'LL SING MY DEATH SONG AND GO HOME LIKE A WARRIOR TO BE WITH MY BROTHERS AND FAMILY." I've carried this Case Knife daily ever since I got that digonases on the Cancer. Glad your doing good and still around, God bless and take care sir.3 points

Dropping a vouch I've known Eric 20 years or so and I know this rifle well. I've seen and shot it at the range in the past and it is a top quality build. If anyone needs a custom built rifle with proven extreme accuracy... this is the one.2 points

I have been enjoying growing into a new platform. My trusty AR's have gone through many evolutions as I've grown as a shooter, and my handguards have reflected this evolution from Milspec to Magpul, then free floated keymod, and on to Mlok. My receivers have made similar changes, having experimented with all manner of ambi controls and lighter weight. I've tried gas piston over direct impingement, side charging over rear charging, folding stocks, and more. My optics have gone from irons to red dots to scopes with mall ninja side dots to LPVOs. Everything has been a delightful (expensive?) journey. Recently, I started playing with a new platform, the CZ Bren 2 MS. This piston driven, lightweight carbine is the standard issue police and military carbine for the Czech Republic, and it is best described as a modern (and improved) version of a SCAR. Non-reciprocating side charging handle, ambi controls, lightweight, fantastic center of gravity with more weight behind the pistol grip, folding stock that doesn't need to be extended to fire, and an adjustable gas block in case you need extra gas for adverse conditions, questionable ammo, or like slinging your empties across the range. The Bren 2 platform is practically everything I've been spending money to make my AR15's into. Lightweight and balanced. Compact, with a functional folding stock. Better controls and more combat-effective manual of arms (the side charging handle doesn't make you lower the rifle and lose your sight picture/target awareness to run it). An inexpensive gas selector swap gives you a new "suppressed" setting, to avoid overgassing. So far, so good. I'm getting about 1.5MOA accuracy with 55gr FMJ, which makes it only half as accurate as my quality ARs, but it's certainly nothing I notice in drills out to 100yds. It would not be my DMR of choice for working out at 500 yards, but it sure does the job inside 50. I bought the 8" and 11" pistols, and converted the 14" pistol into a rifle with folding stock. I'll let you all know how my additional testing goes. Doc1 point

I’ve wanted to try msfs for several years, and I’ve finally taken the leap. It seems that it’s going to be challenging, but fun. I have two hardware setups for my HP Omen pc. One for msfs (Turtle Beach Velocity One) and one for DCS (Thrustmaster T Flight Full Kit X) . I also have a HP Reverb G2 V2 that should be here tomorrow for VR sims. What’s your setup? What advice would you offer to a noob getting into flight sims? Thanks!1 point

This is a sweet rifle but really wanna lesson the .308 rifles I have. This is a 16” heavy fluted 308. Has a 1.5lb Timney trigger. The action is a Rem 700 trued action. The whole barreled action was done by Tim At Crescent and the McMillan Adj A-5 stock was bedded by GA Precision. Tye barrel is set up for an AEM5 (30 cal) can. The stock is molded in GAP camo. Badger rail up front and even set up for irons. What you see is what you get except for the chair. Very nice rifle. $2500 I will offer the rifle already set up as a package for another $1000 with a US Optics ST-10. Total package for $35001 point

Good day, my friends and brothers in arms. I took a hiatus from the forum for the better part of this year. Lots of reasons, none really worthy of detailing or complaining about here. A few know some things, but that's not relavent to this commentary. Just say I'm getting better and am attempting a "comeback" of sorts. So I'm sitting here today, just reading all the threads, past and present; when I stumble across the "Leaderboard" section. Of course I'm familiar with the daily and weekly scorekeeping. It's fun to watch, and lets us know the true diehard members here. But as I went deeper into it, I ran across thos older threads that I hadn't seen for a long while. It was illumuninating, to say the least. Those that made me remember just what a tremendous place and experience TGO really is. I read of new additions to family, and loss as well. Loss of wonderful people. Steelharp always come to mind for me, but too many others as well. Praise for good deeds that went unnoticed by some, and raved about by others. I saw the pride in childrens' accomplishents; like Links posting of his son's graduation, of Tercel89 telling of the pride in his son saving a life with CPR, the times we have all thanked veterans, bought meals and taken checks at dining places. The times that help was volunteered without being asked. Several in particular had me in tears re-living the events. I won't mention names. It's not necessary. When a brother was in need and selling his weapons...help was immediate and plentiful. When some medical bills for some, and vet bills for others were piling up...help came again. If you know...you know. People here step up! That is a constant. It's what makes this a great community. One that I missed and am proud to be a small part of. So as I make my way back, in many things; I just want to remind us all what a wonderous thing we have here. Something built by David, the Admin Staff, and each and every individual that comes in. A place for comfort and comaraderie, a place of knowledge sharing and humor. A place to be valued and prized.1 point

Woke up with some discomfort and tightness in my chest Sunday morning. Went to E R at St Thomas West, in Nashville, Sunday afternoon. Monday afternoon I had to have 4 additional stents put in my veins around my heart. Now have had double bypass, with 9 stents. Feel lucky to be her on this Thanksgiving Day. Am having a great day although kinda sore. I am now 74, and want to tell you that one better have made spiritual provisions for your death, and most of all where your soul will spend eternity. My soul will be with my savior Christ Jesus in the next realm(realm of departed spirits(Paradise) if Christ don't come first. Search and find out where your souls will go before it is too late. When you get to the next realm it will be too late to change your fate. I have done the things necessary for me to be able to take advantage of God's saving Grace which He freely will give to all who follow His Son Jesus. This is serious guys. I would be glad to help you if you can get in touch with me in Lascassas TN.1 point

Had a heart attack 18 months ago. 95% blockage of the widowmaker at 48 years old. If I hadn't driven myself to the ER they say I wouldn't have made it. I knew that Jesus had laid claim to my very soul and had a peace while they were trying to keep me alive and put a stint in. Will be praying for you, Pop Pop and DJTC45 and thanks for the reminder what this season is really about. We fight the good fight, but thankfully we already know who has won.1 point

Actually has nothing to do with shipping. the gist of the case is that there was no historical case law regarding restraining orders, and all the "domestic" regulations were nonexistent at the time of the ratification of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. That is the takeaway from the case, a lower court has said that Bruen demands only historical review of laws un place a that time matter in deciding these cases. the same judge asks whether the Judiciary takes a scalpel or a chainsaw to excise the unconstitutional filth that has grown up around the 2nd. Moreover, the result of the ruling is that Federal Judge declaring U.S. code 922 (g) (8) unconstitutional. Under Bruen no higher Court will be able to set that aside, without making law.1 point

Last I heard license plate readers were having a hard time with the new plates that came out this year. It seems the the white letters on the blue background is very hard for them to pick up well. There has even been talk of changing the plate design again.1 point

I contacted VZ Grips, I love their operator 2 Grips for the Colt Cobra, they said that even though it states on their website's these are not for the King Cobra, they claim many folks do report they fit perfectly. They said if I order them and they do not fit, they will give me a full refund. So, I have a set coming1 point

Just don't. It is very addictive. You will wind up with a shop full of tools and parts kits and not enough time to build them.1 point

Another option is to take Rifle Dynamics class. They provide the kits, parts, and tools and you build a Custom level AK. It's on my bucket list. I've built AK's before but this would be a great experience without the headaches. Cost about the same in the end. https://rifledynamics.com/classes/ If you still wanted to home build after, you would have a huge advantage on knowing what it would take.1 point

A couple of ancillary observations... The post above should be fairly timeless and be relevant 3, 6, or even 15 years from now, but these comments are particular to the current time: AK-47/74 pattern rifles seem to be an exception to the slump in pricing and sales, especially if they were manufactured in Russia. These rifles are actually rising in cost. The past few years have seen AK and AR-15 pattern rifles completely trade places in terms of marketability and cost. Ten years ago, you would have been laughed out of town if you tried to sell an AK for more than a comparably equipped AR. These days, you can buy an AR that you'd actually want to shoot for less than $600 and that sort of money only gets you into a decent AK. Glock 19s tend to still do well on the secondary market because everyone needs one even if they don't really want one. The advent of the Generation 5 Glock 19 doesn't seem to have softened the resale value of the previous generations too much as the Gen5 hasn't had a chance to prove itself and Glock is notorious for having to fix problems with the first few batches of any new generation. The caveat to that, of course, is that modified Glocks don't always sell very quickly unless the seller prices them reasonably and in accordance to what has been done to them. Stippling and custom finishes (like Cerakote) are very polarizing and might only suit the personal taste of the seller. Revolvers, 1911s, and so-called "Brown Rifles" (hunting bolt actions, shotguns, etc.) seem to be fairly immune to the pricing slump since they were never really in the same level of demand as the tacti-cool stuff and consequently, the market was never flooded with a surplus of them. Collector guns are almost always immune to market fluctuation, which is why they are collector guns. When the rest of the firearms market is racing toward the bottom, there's an advantage to being priced at the top - especially if you can command it. Don't expect to see collectibles selling at bargain prices unless someone is really hurting for money and doesn't have a savvy friend to save them from making a hasty mistake.1 point
