  1. I don't post much here for one simple reason, I read threads like this and I want to lash out. I have not really become acquainted with the sub-culture of TGOs yet. And frankly, most of you may not know how to take me. I moved here from FL 15 years ago, spent my first 42 years in the Clearwater area. After seeing what the non-Crackers had done to my state, I did not want to become just another intruder to TN. I came here with a humble attitude, I went along and got along. I had a CCW permit in FL and I immediately got a TN permit......IOWs I've always had a permit. For the life of me I cannot understand the bitching and moaning about going through the process. Spend a few years here before you start bitching, you might realize it's not as bad as you thought. I live in E TN, just outside of Newport, halfway between Knoxville and Asheville. I have yet to go anywhere, besides the obvious courthouses...etc.. where I could not carry, concealed or open......it's a non issue. Also, I'm routinely in VA, NC, GA, KY, SC, FL, none of those states could I carry without a permit. Just as in FL, years of hearing how wonderful your rustbelt states and northeastern states were...bla, bla, bla. Well, I'm a legit TN resident now and I don't want to hear it now either. Get accustomed to our customs or go back, that simple.

  2. I love stupid movies and it looks like next February will deliver! If anyone remembers the story from years ago where a bear down in Georgia ate a crap ton of cocaine dropped out of a plane…that bear’s saga has been immortalized in film. BTW, this is Ray Liotta’s last movie.

  3. I've recently started casting for .45, with a 230 gr truncated cone mold from Lee. I got probably 100 lbs of some sort of lead/antimony blend from my grandfather's basement. Then, when getting some tires changed, made friends with the shop owner who gave me free access to take as many of their old wheel weights as I wanted, so I took about 100 lbs of wheel weights home. I've got one of those Lee melting pots, so its pretty easy to set temp and watch the lead melt off and the steel and Zinc float to the top. Still very much learning all this, but I did get to shoot my first batch of cast bullets the other day, and they shot pretty well!

  4. I cast a few 35 caliber 300 gr, and some 250 gr for my 35 Whelen last week. I cast , power coat, reload and shoot, from 25 ACP to 35 Whelen. I cast 12 ga slug, 00 buck, drop #7 shot. Powder coat shoots a good as jacketed, just a bit slower.

  7. Hey TGOers, *March, 3 2023: Didn't follow up on this original post much since I didn't really want to sell it, lol. Ready to give it a proper chance. Final price. Thanks!* Letting go of this nice single action 1873 clone. Basically identical to the Colt SAA down to the four click hammer cock. Just to be safe, let me repeat, this is a SINGLE ACTION so anyone looking for a modern revolver should look elsewhere, lol. Bought this off a great forum member early this year and had a ball with it all summer. Functions flawlessly, locks up tight, and disassembles like it should. Will include a few dozen rounds of 45 LC cowboy loads. Selling to help fund my next A.D.D. obsession, lol. Ftf in or around Middle TN, HCP flash required. Thanks! -V

  16. I saw it listed in the upcoming movies part of my AMC app yesterday. Based on the description I knew I was already in. That balls-to-the-wall trailer cinched it for me. I can't wait for Opening Day!

  17. I really like it my friend has the elite combat model. seems both have same trigger but rival has longer slide so in theory it’s more accurate. I like the mag well. It has been cleared to complete in Pistol competition came in hard case and optic ready. And it looks great has cutout’s in slide Con. It doesn’t have a ported barrel I wish it did it has a lot of mussel flip. I used a old nonworking. Olight poured full of lead to give it weight and keep it down and I wish it came with 3 mags Accurate pistol and yes I like it looking flashy LOL

  19. I sense another Hollywood attempt at a Sharknado franchise. This time it is a bear. If the cocaine bear is profitable, the next sequel will be a cocaine mountain lion (darker comedy) followed by the sequel cocaine squirrels (light hearted comedy). Then the shocker sequel of cocaine giant pandas.

  23. Having fired hundreds of rounds through these types of rifles, it is possible to do 3 rounds a minute and if you are stationary and can leave the ramrod out, four could be attained. It was reported that veterans of the War between the states could attain that. I cannot. But to do three rounds a minute with a flintlock would be quite a feat, indeed due to the complexity of setting the frizzen and properly filling the pan vs simply slipping on a percussion cap on the nipple. Mark Baker, who was the weapons and technical advisor to Mel Gibson on the movie, "The Patriot" could probably pull it off, but it would be difficult, even for him, IMHO. If attained, it could not be sustained as the barrel would begin to foul and build up and this would slow down the process greatly.

  27. I have had the Max 9 for a while now. Have run about 400 practice rounds through it (Win W B 115 gr RN) and 60 rounds of Winchester Defender 147 Gr + P Hp through it. I have plans of carrying this round for S D. It has been flawless. I allowed my grandson and son in law fire about 75 rounds through it at Thanksgiving. Have had no issues with it. It is very accurate and shoots to sights at 25 ft off hand. I really like the iron sight green pipe front sight. Easy to see for old eyes during the day. I have been pocket carrying it to church and around in dress clothes. It is flat and the 2 different mag sizes adjust well to different front pocket sizes. One magazine holds 10 and the other 12 rounds. Tighter pockets gets the 10 rounder and larger the other. I am using a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster, and it works well. I like the Ruger Max 9 and believe it will become my preferred church gun. Do like the 13 rounds on board. Does not hurt that I shoot it well. For IWB I have a SW MP 9C 2.0 9 MM for a larger choice. Also using the Winchester 147 Gr + P ammo in it for S D. The max 9 works well with the MP setup. I like Ruger firearms. Edited to add; The Winchester 147 gr hits my steel targets hard. Really pings them better than any S D Ammo I have on hand. Hard hitting round.

  28. Thanks for that. I’m thinking maybe they sold out to Dunham’s or to Benton’s. I was looking for rifle primers and I remembered Dunn’s. It looks like they are gone.

  29. The weapons crime for the no guns signs needs to be removed all together or at least not apply for people with enhanced carry permits. People with enhanced permits should be able to also carry in other locations such as college campuses that are already legal in most states surrounding TN for people with carry permits.

  35. I've lived in Knoxville all my life. Been to more local gun shows than I can count (Come See Kevin Costner's Guns!!). Enjoy shooting, considered getting into reloading and figured I would find a sight to chat it up with folks that like the same stuff. I've looked around for a while and figured I would make it official.

  36. I think there's a lot of old timers (like me) that aren't hunting much anymore, especially long range, which is where the 7mm mag shines. Our gray haired hunters are dwindling while the younger hunters are pretty hyped up on AR platforms and that ever so popular 6.5 Creedmore. If this vintage M77 sells, I bet it'll be a baby boomer who buys it ... or someone who just loves nice walnut stocks and light pencil barrels like me.
