  2. I've recently started casting for .45, with a 230 gr truncated cone mold from Lee. I got probably 100 lbs of some sort of lead/antimony blend from my grandfather's basement. Then, when getting some tires changed, made friends with the shop owner who gave me free access to take as many of their old wheel weights as I wanted, so I took about 100 lbs of wheel weights home. I've got one of those Lee melting pots, so its pretty easy to set temp and watch the lead melt off and the steel and Zinc float to the top. Still very much learning all this, but I did get to shoot my first batch of cast bullets the other day, and they shot pretty well!

  3. Best start would be with Tennessee Firearms Association.......TFA "...so far backwards...", maybe try CA, IL, NY for starters. TN has very favorable laws overall. Not perfect. If want to change something, reduce the sign language from having the force of law to a simple trespass.

  8. Woke up with some discomfort and tightness in my chest Sunday morning. Went to E R at St Thomas West, in Nashville, Sunday afternoon. Monday afternoon I had to have 4 additional stents put in my veins around my heart. Now have had double bypass, with 9 stents. Feel lucky to be her on this Thanksgiving Day. Am having a great day although kinda sore. I am now 74, and want to tell you that one better have made spiritual provisions for your death, and most of all where your soul will spend eternity. My soul will be with my savior Christ Jesus in the next realm(realm of departed spirits(Paradise) if Christ don't come first. Search and find out where your souls will go before it is too late. When you get to the next realm it will be too late to change your fate. I have done the things necessary for me to be able to take advantage of God's saving Grace which He freely will give to all who follow His Son Jesus. This is serious guys. I would be glad to help you if you can get in touch with me in Lascassas TN.

  9. TriStar Bristol English side by side 20 gauge sold. The shotgun has auto ejectors, Turkish walnut stock, 28” barrels with 3” chambers, 5 chokes, and a selective top tang safety. If you want a nice, elegant, small frame side by side without breaking the bank, you really owe it to yourself to look at this one. This shotgun has only four boxes of shells through it. I have other shotguns that I use more. If you do some research you will see these are really good guns and this is really a good deal. Must be a resident of TN with CCP. PM if interested or have questions. Thx!

  10. I don't post much here for one simple reason, I read threads like this and I want to lash out. I have not really become acquainted with the sub-culture of TGOs yet. And frankly, most of you may not know how to take me. I moved here from FL 15 years ago, spent my first 42 years in the Clearwater area. After seeing what the non-Crackers had done to my state, I did not want to become just another intruder to TN. I came here with a humble attitude, I went along and got along. I had a CCW permit in FL and I immediately got a TN permit......IOWs I've always had a permit. For the life of me I cannot understand the bitching and moaning about going through the process. Spend a few years here before you start bitching, you might realize it's not as bad as you thought. I live in E TN, just outside of Newport, halfway between Knoxville and Asheville. I have yet to go anywhere, besides the obvious courthouses...etc.. where I could not carry, concealed or open......it's a non issue. Also, I'm routinely in VA, NC, GA, KY, SC, FL, none of those states could I carry without a permit. Just as in FL, years of hearing how wonderful your rustbelt states and northeastern states were...bla, bla, bla. Well, I'm a legit TN resident now and I don't want to hear it now either. Get accustomed to our customs or go back, that simple.

  11. I cast a few 35 caliber 300 gr, and some 250 gr for my 35 Whelen last week. I cast , power coat, reload and shoot, from 25 ACP to 35 Whelen. I cast 12 ga slug, 00 buck, drop #7 shot. Powder coat shoots a good as jacketed, just a bit slower.

  17. I had one and sold it to fund another purchase a few years back. It was a splendid shooter and probably the best factory pistol trigger I have used. Be warned mags have been notoriously hard to find here recently.

  20. Well...I'm on record here with my opinion of Canik and all the models therein. LOL. Been a big fan since I first bought one for sub 250 from a little distriutor just because of the price. As has been said, Great pistols. Fantastic triggers. Extremely easy to shoot and look good doing it. In the last 16-18 monts, more and more people are discovering the Canik and its quality. That's why the prices have been steadily rising. Try finding one of the early models...the T100 series. Sellers couldn't give them away. l missed out on those, but got in on the origional TP9. It shoots as well as the latest models. Few people will ever regret buying a Canik pistol, I haven't Won't tell you how many I have now. It's embarassing. Just buy it and love it. "Nuff said.

  21. I have had the Max 9 for a while now. Have run about 400 practice rounds through it (Win W B 115 gr RN) and 60 rounds of Winchester Defender 147 Gr + P Hp through it. I have plans of carrying this round for S D. It has been flawless. I allowed my grandson and son in law fire about 75 rounds through it at Thanksgiving. Have had no issues with it. It is very accurate and shoots to sights at 25 ft off hand. I really like the iron sight green pipe front sight. Easy to see for old eyes during the day. I have been pocket carrying it to church and around in dress clothes. It is flat and the 2 different mag sizes adjust well to different front pocket sizes. One magazine holds 10 and the other 12 rounds. Tighter pockets gets the 10 rounder and larger the other. I am using a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster, and it works well. I like the Ruger Max 9 and believe it will become my preferred church gun. Do like the 13 rounds on board. Does not hurt that I shoot it well. For IWB I have a SW MP 9C 2.0 9 MM for a larger choice. Also using the Winchester 147 Gr + P ammo in it for S D. The max 9 works well with the MP setup. I like Ruger firearms. Edited to add; The Winchester 147 gr hits my steel targets hard. Really pings them better than any S D Ammo I have on hand. Hard hitting round.

  22. The enhanced carry permit needs to actually be enhanced so that you can legally carry in more places. The 'no guns' signs weapons crime should not apply to the enhanced carry permit. That should only be a trespass issue if someone does not leave when asked just as it is in most states. Full college carry should also be legalized for enhanced permits. College employees can already carry with enhanced permits in TN plus most of the states bordering TN already have legal college carry for people with carry permits.

  23. I have two Caniks; ridiculously inexpensive, super reliable, and amazingly accurate.

  24. The weapons crime for the no guns signs needs to be removed all together or at least not apply for people with enhanced carry permits. People with enhanced permits should be able to also carry in other locations such as college campuses that are already legal in most states surrounding TN for people with carry permits.

  25. Ah, the Canik-lol. Got the SFX Blackout model in a trade last year. Had it a few weeks, then finally took it out in the back to shoot it. Probably the best shooting gun I ever had. Like you said, made me look like I know what I'm doing-lol. One big ragged hole. Ended up trading it again, but recently picked up another with a Swamp Fox red dot. This one's a shooter also.

  39. I enjoyed your post on the thrills and spills of shooting your flintlock. I have one that was custom built for me that is in .40 cal. You are correct about all of the prep and the cleaning can take a bit of time but, is absolutely necessary. One thing that has happened to me a couple of times is if I am shooting with a friend and we get to talking and I get out of sequence with the powder and seating the ball. Ramming the ball in with no powder is a real time-consuming mistake as you have to attach a ball puller to your ram rod and pull it out. What a mess..... The good thing is that once you do it, it keeps you on your toes to never do it again, ha.

  40. I love stupid movies and it looks like next February will deliver! If anyone remembers the story from years ago where a bear down in Georgia ate a crap ton of cocaine dropped out of a plane…that bear’s saga has been immortalized in film. BTW, this is Ray Liotta’s last movie.
