  1. Damn, you're caught between the liberals in Chicago and Minnesota. Tough spot to be in. Personally, I'd just keep them and keep quiet. Hang onto the estate papers and just go on with life.

  2. My wife loves Christmas even more than I do and last year she put up the tree before Thanksgiving, and nothing bad happened. This year we're in a new house and we have room for two trees, and they're both up already. Outside decorations probably going up in the next few days. I understand that some see the holiday as a commercialized greedfest. We choose to see it as a celebration of friends and family, an opportunity to reflect on the many gifts we have been given from above, and a time for fond recollection of Christmases past. Plus, some years I get a new gun. Life is good and we are richly blessed. Cheers, Whisper

  4. Nope. It's no less safe than any of the other striker fired pistols. Probably safer, since it's essentially a DA only gun.

  5. Back up for sale, shot it last week and after a stroke it’s a bit too much for me to rack and shoot. I just bought a G19 off here for its replacement for nightstand/home defense duty. I bought this new in 2014 and have shot around 150 rounds through it. After carrying it a few times I ended up getting a G43 for my EDC in 2018.It has been my nightstand go-to ever since. It Will come with everything when new(case, paddle holster, lock, paperwork) as well as the following extras… 1) Three magazines, a 13 round and two 10 rounds with an x grip on one for use in sub-compact grip module. 2) Sub-compact grip module in FDE with Hogue grip installed 3) Foxx IWB holster 4) 150 rds of Winchester Winclean 165 grain 5) 15 rds Remington Golden Saber FMJ hollow points 6) Hoppes 9 Bore Snake. I’m looking for $400 obo cash FTF. Must be 21, a TN resident with a valid HCP you are willing to show and would also prefer to sign a bill of sale. I’m willing to meet a very short distance from Portland.

  6. As relates to Christmas decorating, I think the pandemic changed things around my house and they will never go back to the way they were. We used to be the kind of family that waited until the weekend after Thanksgiving to decorate the house. Especially if it meant putting up the Christmas tree. That all went right out the window in 2020 when we, like a lot of people, arrived at the period of time between Halloween and Thanksgiving and said, "You know what? We need some holiday cheer. Screw it! Let's decorate for Christmas!" And we did. And no one died because of it. Fast forward two years and here we are in 2022. We started decorating the house this past week. We have artificial trees up, decorated and lit in three rooms of the house. (I may have had a tree-buying addiction in 2020 and 2021 also. Don't judge me.) My wife and kids also hung most of the lights on the exterior of the house while the weather was warmer last week, although they aren't lit yet. But they will be soon if this frigidly cold weather persists. I mean, why have low temperatures in the teens if you're not going to call it Winter?? So, who else is going for the gold well ahead of Thanksgiving this year? Anyone else brave enough to admit it? Hell, I might just get a wild hair and put up TGO's Christmas decorations early too!

  8. Once you bring them back here you could sell them here on the forum pretty easily. There are some nice guns in that collection.

  9. @Snaveba I tried it on a few when I went to shoot last week. The guy working there even let me try his P365 x macro with a rmr. I was able to rack the ones I tried. That was a good feeling and a confidence booster.I just picked up a G19 from the classifieds yesterday that I’m going to swap slides and add a rmr to.

  11. I’m looking for an early-mid 1990’s P220 in .45 acp. I’m looking to replace the one I bought and carried on duty for 10 yrs as a national park ranger in Colorado- the govt. provided a P229 in 9mm, but we could carry the P220 in .45 if we bought our own. I was on the bear mgt team, so bought my own. I had to sell it 15 years ago when times weren’t so good and my then-young son needed expensive meds that insurance denied. Anyway, if anyone has one from that era and is interested in parting with it, I’d be interested in buying even if it has some wear on it- mine had been through a lot. I’ve included a picture of the pistol style. It had the plain grips and no rail. Thanks

  12. Have you considered a revolver? Just point and pull the trigger. For a right hander, the left is only used for support and to hold the gun during reloading. My wife had arthritis in her hands. When her .38 became too much for her, she switched to a S&W Model 30 in .32 S&W Long. She could shoot that just fine. Not exactly a man stopper, but it sure beat harsh language.

  13. I am in the same boat as you as I carry the LCP a big portion of the time. I do not feel the need for a safety and I believe the pistol to be just as safe as any striker fired weapon out there.

  14. Do you think maybe you could start with an air sort or pellet pistol, then move up to a 22, and then on to center fire? This would be a cheap and safe way to refine your fine motor skills I think. We sometimes forget, but popping a beer can with an air soft or bb is a really satisfying experience as well as good practice.

  19. Moped: my technique is very similar to your's. However I eject the empties with my left thumb while the right hand reaches for the spare ammo. This is just a hair faster as it saves that ejection movement of the right hand.

  21. If you decide to run a pistol with a red dot, you can use the red dot to help with the racking. Instead of gripping the slide with your left hand to pull it back, just put your hand on top of the slide, in front of the red dot such that it would hit the area between your thumb and pointer finger. Then push the red dot into that part of your hand to force the slide back.

  22. No problem! It was a mental exercise for me, thinking through the steps. What might be nice is if you borrowed some else’s revolver, to practice with. Even if it was a .22. That actually might be a good thing to use, because it will make you use your fine motor skills. Sort of a therapy, if you will.

  23. Right, point is when carried un-holstered in a pocket it is free to slosh around with the trigger unprotected from being accidentally pulled by the user or some other object. Ruger provides a basic soft sleeve which they recommend using. I recommend something sturdier. Edit: The op mentioned the LCP ii. That is not a DAO pistol. It has a trigger similar to a Glock. The original LCP had a heavy DAO trigger. If you feel safe with a Glock you should feel safe with the LCP ii trigger.

  24. @Moped I didn’t even think to go through the reloading motions when I checked a few out last week, I only held them and dry fired one.I plan on going back to shoot more soon and will try to open and close the cylinder on one then. Thanks for the info, gives me more to think about.

  25. As I read that. I think that’s how I unload and load a revolver, being right handed. 1. I transfer the empty revolver to my left hand. Just cradling the gun in my left hand. 2. Push the cylinder release with my right thumb. At the same time pushing the cylinder out with my left hand Birdie and ring fingers, while still holding the revolver in my left had. 3. I use my right palm to slap the ejector rod. That might be tricky for you, because you need a good hold on the revolver with your left hand. 4. I load the revolver with my right hand, while holding it in my left hand. 5. Once loaded, I close the cylinder with my left thumb and/or right hand. 6. Then transfer the revolver to my right hand to shoot. That’s my manual of arms for loading a revolver, as I went through it in my mind.

  28. No less safe than a double action revolver that is loaded and uncocked. Don’t pull the trigger and it cannot fire.

  29. Another option for “not made by commies” if you don’t need a k sized optic is the Steiner MPS. Buddy of mine was so impressed by the first one he bought he got a second one. Considering his detachment just won the Larry Thorne award, I trust his judgement.

  30. Apologize to op for leading this astray. It’s not all about the old don’t support China and a lot of people are sensitive to that comment. I noted I own two primary arms 2x glx, made in China and typing on iPhone. These work for me and no other options for that criteria. It’s obvious to everyone here China makes real holosun and fake eotech/aim points. The optic choice should be what works for you and without compromising reliability. Everyone sees the dot differently and holosun has internet kudos from some with astigmatism but not all. I bought the 510 used to try but I don’t see the dot as clear as the holosun tube 403x I looked through. The best option is to source models that fit your application and try to look through before purchasing because everyone sees the dot differently. now on to red dots on self defense carry pistols are a fad.

  34. Ah, the old "Don't support the Chinese government" argument. I get it. I do. But the very fact that you are on an Internet forum tells me that you are using an electronic device that, statistically, has far more components inside of it made by the ROC than it has components made anywhere else. With that in mind, you sort of lost before you started. That aside, let's talk optics since it's one of my favorite things to talk about. You mentioned Trijicon and that's a great place to start. I am a fan of the RMR series and have owned and used some variant of them for the past eight or so years. They work great, are rugged as hell, and not made in China. Unfortunately, Trijicon also hasn't done much to innovate since the RMR was introduced. We got the SRO which is popular among shooting sports enthusiasts but not rugged enough for hard use. We got the RMRcc which is a smaller version of the RMR, but it's also rather uninspiring in a lot of other ways. Things that Holosun seem to be doing better than Trijicon these days: Fully enclosed emitter design. Shake-awake technology for better battery life. Battery is accessible without removing the optic from the gun. Also, they seem to be listening to and responding to the consumer. Do I wish that an American optic company with American manufacturing presence was producing handgun optics for the American consumer? YEP! But I can wish in one hand and put a Holosun optic in the other, and I can tell you which one fills up faster.

  35. They may be made in china but they are good optics. I understand were your coming from, but I have four of them mounted, also a Leupold Deltapoint, Trijicon SRO. The HOLSUN'S are just as good, and I never had a problem with any of them.

  37. I think I've shared it before, but this was my grandfather's duty gun when he was a police officer back in the 60's. Smith & Wesson Model 19. He left it to my dad and I inherited it when my dad passed away. This is one of those guns that my kids will inherit one day, and hopefully their kids as well.

  39. Welcome back! My wife had a stroke a little over a year ago, recovery and rehab seems to have slowed down, but that is normal (according to her neurologist) Gains for her from here on out will be small and slower. Keep up the good fight, we'll keep you in your prayers to protect you from discouragement!
