Took advantage of an extra day off for Veterans day and did an IBA Veterans Day Gold ride last Friday. Goal of the ride is to visit at least 4 veterans related sites such as VA Hospitals, VFW posts, National or Veterans Cemeteries, or other Veterans memorials. Each site must be at least 150 miles apart and you must travel a total of at least 1,111 miles which is a nod to World War 1 and the origins of Veterans Day, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. You must do this all in 19hours and 18minutes or less, again a nod to the end of WW1 in 1918. I set out at a bit after 5 am Friday morning in the rain and stopped by my first location in Smyrna, VFW post 8422. I made my way around 840 headed West toward Memphis. The rain was heavy at times but began to clear once I passed Dickson and the Duck river. The cloud cover delayed the sunrise though so I was nearly to Jackson before I saw much sun. I reached Memphis and the Memphis National Cemetery where I got off the bike for a few minutes to walk around a bit. It was a really pretty morning so I made a slow lap around the grounds enjoying the sunglight coming through what remained of the leaves on the tree canopy before snapping a photo at the gate. From there I set off further West toward Little Rock and the Little Rock National Cemetery. Really pretty grounds here as well and another slow lap around through falling leaves was done. I got back on the road and made my way into Oklahoma where I filled up at the 570 mile mark of the ride just over 9 hours into it. I began my trip back toward home and Tennessee from there. My next stop was the Fort Smith National Cemetery back in Arkansas. Seemed like a nice little town and I think it would be worth a trip back to explore it and the hills north further. Made my way back through Memphis and to the outskirts of Jackson. I was well under my time limit at that point so I decided to get off the interstate for a bit and stop at another location. I quick GPS reroute and detour to Hwy 70 had me rolling right on by the Jackson VFW Post 6496. From there it was familiar roads and a short sprint home. I made it back to my chosen finish location at 11:55 pm covering 1126 miles in 18 Hours and 29 minutes. I did run into a few traffic related problems, namely two significant vehicle fires. The first was in Arkansas where a tractor trailer was full engulfed in the east bound shoulder which had closed I-40 east bound and significantly slowed the West bound lanes. The second was another significant vehicle fire. This time in Tennessee and a bus on the East bound side between the Tennessee river and Dickson. I saw the brake lights from a good ways out and began slowing. We came to a stop and sat for about 15 minutes. I guess they opened up a couple lanes at that point because we began inching forward and I covered about 3/4 of a mile before I saw the bus and the firefighters rolling up hoses. There was not much left of the bus so I could not identify it but a couple hundred yards up there were 2 to 3 dozen poor souls wrapped in blankets with some bags and luggage so I assume it was a greyhound or similar. Hope they did not have to stay out there long because temps were in the upper 30's at best. I was thankful for my heated jacket and grips. It was an enjoyable and memorable ride to honor our Veterans sacrifices. If you are a Veteran thank you for your service. The cemetery grounds are always sobering. To quote a line from a TV show I heard recently, "The best of us don't make it home".5 points

You are correct, sir. I only saw the good side of his rack, and he was chasing a doe, so I didn’t have time for judging; just shooting. Big buck; ugly rack. Weather was perfect. I’ll take it!4 points

They may be made in china but they are good optics. I understand were your coming from, but I have four of them mounted, also a Leupold Deltapoint, Trijicon SRO. The HOLSUN'S are just as good, and I never had a problem with any of them.2 points

You should see what I have up my sleeve for next year. I have 3 weeks of vacation rolling over to go with my 3 weeks for next year. I will be checking off 1 of my 4 bucket list rides if all goes according to plan. It will be the easiest of the 4 most likely but it is a start. 1) Trans Labrador Highway, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia 2) Tuktoyaktuk, Dawson City, and Prudhoe Bay 3) Ride the entire lower forty eight plus Alaska 4) Ride the entire perimeter of Australia. ok five dreams if I am being honest but this one is becoming a bit of a long shot. 5) Prudhoe Bay across the Darien Gap to Ushuaia Tierra del Fuego2 points

I have a Holosun 507K on one P365X and a Holsun 407K on the P365XL- Both these models are shake awake with the differences between the 2 - 407K has a 6 MOA dot and the 507K has a 2 MOA dot or you can change from 3 different visuals- Dot inside a circle-dot without a circle -or only circle- I prefer just the dots myself-2 points

I am positing this add here to keep from dealing with the FB/CL drama. I will take 7500 cash for it or trade for or toward a CJ7 or Wrangler Jeep in the same type condition. Not interested in CJ-5s I have one that I am going to trade/sale as soon as I get another one. I love everything about the CJ5 except the drivers area is just to small for a 6'2 230lb guy. Due to work schedule I will not have time for project vehicles for the next 3 years. I purchased this vehicle from Smith County TN in 2017ish with 94,000 miles. I rebuilt the front end (MOOG parts) 2 new tires, Changed coolant, plugs, serviced tranny, new brakes, front hoses, 1 Caliper (the bleeder froze) New ALT, Center Console. All new lug nuts. It currently has around 112000 miles on it. Oil has been changed before 5000 miles with Mobile 1. Vehicle is totally stock but is the strongest running car I have ever owned or been issued. This is not a good first car for teenagers. Only mechanical issue that I am aware of is the TPS light stays on. I had it in 2 shops for tires and coolant and only one could get the TPS to reset correctly and that only lasted a week. I have just learned to live with it. Tires all have 35lbs in in them checked with a good gauge. The body has a few small dings and scratches but nothing major. Interior is not perfect but pretty nice. I have a new bumper cover that I never got around to putting on. It came primed and my body/paint guy moved out of state. Have the chrome center caps for the wheels also. I bought the Charger for gas mileage 25mpg on highway, which was much better than 05 Hemi Ram 4x4 and to keep excessive miles off the truck when on military orders. I replaced the truck in 2019 and there is only 4 MPG difference between the newer Hemi 1500 and the Charger. I changed departments and was issued a unmarked F-150 4x4 that I drive 90 percent of the time. I like the car but just don't drive it much and would like to get down to 2 personal 4 wheeled vehicles.1 point

As today will give us the General Assembly we will have for the next two years, it is important that we reach out to our newly elected General Assembly and honor our Article 1 Section 23 obligation to "instruct" our elected employees, and that they in turn hold the bureaucracies that are tax payer funded to the same rules that all government is held to recognize, that all power is inherent in the People, and that they work for us! We need at least one (1) (and 50 would be better) constituent of ever Representative and Senator in the TN General Assembly to write their members and let them know that the Bruen decision has settled the matter that non-criminal Citizens of this State (by virtue of the 2010 McDonald v. City of Chicago ruling by SCOTUS incorporating the 2nd Amendment against the states under the due process clause of the 14th Amendment has made the 2nd a Civil Right) have a non second class Right to carry arms, and not just handguns, for their use in case of confrontation. It is imperative that we can show proof of this transfer of knowledge, even though it has been read into the Journal of the General Assembly (ask me how I know that) this year we MUST convince the members that we understand that their having knowledge of the facts puts them in jeopardy of being convicted of Official Oppression if they fail to remedy the unconstitutional infringements placed by the General Assembly on our right to keep, bear and wear arms. Thomas said in Bruen this is no second class right, where we must prove need to enjoy, but rather is ours by birth as Citizens, given us by God and simply obstructed by a government that swears to uphold the Constitutions of our State and Union. From our TCA Code Annotated: Part 4 - Misconduct Involving Public Officials and Employees 39-16-403 - Official oppression. 39-16-403. Official oppression. (a) A public servant acting under color of office or employment commits an offense who: (1) Intentionally subjects another to mistreatment or to arrest, detention, stop, frisk, halt, search, seizure, dispossession, assessment or lien when the public servant knows the conduct is unlawful; or (2) Intentionally denies or impedes another in the exercise or enjoyment of any right, privilege, power or immunity, when the public servant knows the conduct is unlawful. (b) For purposes of this section, a public servant acts under color of office or employment if the public servant acts, or purports to act, in an official capacity or takes advantage of the actual or purported capacity. (c) An offense under this section is a Class E felony. (d) Charges for official oppression may be brought only by indictment, presentment or criminal information; provided, that nothing in this section shall deny a person from pursuing other criminal charges by affidavit of complaint. [Acts 1989, ch. 591, § 1; 1990, ch. 980, § 11.] Every member of the General Assembly, The Governor, the Department of Safety, the Sheriffs and their deputies, the Chiefs of Police and their officers, the TBI and every other agency are held to support and defend the Constitutions of the State and Union by that oath. When they take tax payer money to do a job, they are bound thereby, regardless of personal opinion or belief. The various departments and LE agencies are not given power to make law, or to lobby for or against them. Having knowledge of the flow chart of governance with the People at the top and them being relegated to a servants position for pay, I am tired of seeing their paid shills speak against my rights, using my tax money to do so. Only the legislature can make law, and that at the People's will, if we will but engage. Having the Department of Safety, TBI and Sheriff's Association testify under oath that they are "philosophically opposed" to relinquishing their strangle hold on our right to bear arms is criminal, but will only be stopped by US, and that only if we alert our elected employees that we know the facts and intend to see them obeyed.1 point

Well, I liked the AK-V so much I decided it needed a friend. PSA had a Halloween special so I picked up one of their “American Bastard” AK’s in 7.62x39. Comes with a 12.7” barrel, ALG trigger and a JL Billet Handguard. Running a Burris Fastfire III on it and a Lantac Dragon set up to QD a Dead Air Wolfman. I’ve shot it a few times and it’s excellent. PSA has really come a long way!1 point

Yeah I would rather be on the road than anywhere else. I missed my chance in my younger years. I was all set to leave a few keepsakes with my folks, sell everything else, and live/work on a boat for most of the year. Instead I got married and thought a house was a good idea. I don't think there is anything I would prefer to do more than travel. When I discovered the joy of riding in my 30's it woke up that wanderlust again and has not subsided much in the 20 years since. Still have a fair bit of commitments and a career plus I still have that house and the wife but I hit the road as often as I can reasonably do it. I have the the quote "Not all who wander are lost" tattooed on my calf along with some travel/navigation artwork.1 point

I will take the compliment and thank you. I have had the opportunity to put about 10,000 miles on this bike since I got it right at the first of June this year. I pale in comparison to some of my riding acquaintances though. I know folks that regularly put 10,000+ miles on in a month or less and easily clear 100,000 miles a year. Granted most of them are retired and have that level of free time.1 point

I reckon all you Volunteer fans who are still holding out hopes of the CFB playoffs owe my Washington Huskies a big THANK YOU this morning! The Filthy Ducks are out of the way. (Whoops... somehow I thought Oregon was ranked ahead of TN. I just checked and see it's the opposite. ) Isn't it odd how a team (the Huskies) can be SO good on offense and so bad on defense? I got used to excellent Husky defenses, but for the past couple of years the D has been the big weakness. Anyway, I'm happy with their win. Vandy was pretty darned impressive, too.1 point

Just depends. If you're filming a movie, S&W Model 327 TRR8. If you're a movie villain with style and class, Colt Python 6". If you're actually trying to run and gun with it, my personal fav S&W Modell 66 Combat Magnum. If you're trying to carry it in your gym shorts, a Ruger LCR. If you're trying to shoot full house magnum loads every single day for the rest of your life and you don't care about it being fancy, Ruger GP100.1 point

Bought this in 2007, kept it in the safe for years. Sent it out 2 years ago to my gunsmith at K7 Precision to have a flat trigger installed, a trigger job and cerakote. Very accurate pistol! Less than 150 rounds through it. Has flared magwell, night sights, and grips.1 point

The Tennessee Court of Appeals recently issued a decision finding it unconstitutional for a subsidized public housing entity, as landlord, to prohibit tenants from possessing firearms: https://www.tncourts.gov/sites/default/files/m2021-00329_-_unsigned_opinion.pdf The Court's decision was based partly on the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in Bruen.1 point
