  4. I think I've shared it before, but this was my grandfather's duty gun when he was a police officer back in the 60's. Smith & Wesson Model 19. He left it to my dad and I inherited it when my dad passed away. This is one of those guns that my kids will inherit one day, and hopefully their kids as well.

  12. 1994 Ruger M77 Mark II in 7mm Magnum. Comes with Ruger integrated scope rings. Took this on trade from a good friend who bought it new in '94 to hunt elk. It's probably had no more than a few boxes ran through it in its 28 years. Been sitting in his safe. Nice example of one of the early Mark II's, nice patina to the walnut, a few minor hunting nicks, nothing bad. Tried to show the few on the magazine floor plate. SPF Have 15 rounds to go with it. 14. I'm probably going to regret letting this one go BUT I promised my wife that I would sell something to offset my latest purchase. This is a P220R in excellent condition. You'll notice in the pictures that the finish looks smudged. That's just some oil that I applied to it since this tended to spend a lot of time in the safe. The finish is in excellent condition and this is a fine piece. Chambered in 45 ACP Comes with (3) eight-round magazines Original box, manual, cheap lock included It has (stock) night sights installed This is a discontinued model. Sig is only making Legion and Elite variations these days I believe. Less than 1,000 rounds through it. Asking $850. Please don't try and low-ball, I'm only selling this to recoup recent spent funds. Will drive to Nashville area if needed.

  15. I've got a buddy in Florida who did a lot of coral reef diving. Since he had a lot of used range brass that he'd never have time to reload, he tossed some in his melting pot and fashioned this coral artwork. He says he has a lot of aluminum cans, too. I've heard of beating your swords into plowshares....but this!

  17. Has anyone bought one of the SAR 9 pistols? This is another Turkish made pistol and I have been curious about them. With my satisfaction withe the Canik line, I decided to order one last week from PSA. Actually, after reading the reviews, I got 2. LOL Why? Well number one was the aforementioned Canik love, and two was the reviews, followed closely by the price. With all the taxes and tics, it works out to a solid 300 each. Just a bit less than total the per item cost of the PSA Dagger. Ok, since the thread title is on the SAR 9, let's start there. First impression is that it's a big pistol. Almost exactly the size of the HK VP 9. Height and width are virtually the same, with the SAR having almost a 1/4 inch longer barrel. The SAR looks a bit like the VP9 as well I think. In fact that's what first brought it to my attention. It feels very good in my hand, maybe not quite the intuitative grasp as the VP when first handling, but very similar. Like the HK, it has the finger-groove style grip(which I like), and surprisingly to me, not enough texture to make it "grippy." I think this one might do better with some grip tape. Has a pretty deep undercut on the trigger guard, which is pretty squarish, with horizontal cuts in the front of the guard. And has a 3 position rail. The trigger is like almost all these days, with a built in safety that feels rather good to me. It's relatively flat, both the trigger and the safety, without a huge curve to it. Does have a bit of a long pull, a good quarter inch before it hits the "wall," then almost as much before it breaks. A little stiff, but not real hard. Reset is audible, and sets at just about the same point it breaks to fire( of course) but nice overall. No trigger guage, but I'm guessing about 4/5 pounds, but doesn't feel heavy to me. I said it's a big gun...27.8 oz. No G19, that's for sure. I look forward to taking it out and doing a little comparison with the Dagger and the VP9. Ought to be interesting. It comes with 2 17 round mags. AS opposed to my VP which as 15 rounders. With the exception of the paddle release of the VP9, the controls feel similar to me. The SAR has a small, ambidexterous frame mounted safety that can be converted to a decocker, and a tiny, Glock-like slide release. You definitely will want to "slingshot" the slide. Has the curently in favor combat style sight, with three large white dots, with the rear being drift adjustable. Pretty decent front and rear serrations. No slide cuts of course, as this is pretty much a base model. Strange though, since currently almost every Canik is optic ready. We shall see how it performs. I'm expecting it to be good, but it is an enty level pistol for SARSILMAZ, so nothing fancy. What would you expect for the price? So far, I'm very happy with the purchase.

  19. I've had a Reapir it was a good scope. https://outdoorlegacygear.com/products/iray-rico-384-mk1-3-12x-thermal-rifle-scope?variant=40089912803402 The specs on this scope doesn't look great, but the scope looks fantastic for what it is. The package deal with the LRF is a decent setup. I does have Chinese parts assembled in Texas with a 5 year warranty.

  20. Have seen this pistol in person and it is perfect! Hard to beat a classic 1911 Colt .45 let alone one that is over 50 years old in this condition!

  21. Honestly, the newer Savages are pretty decent and in my opinion a little better than the Ruger Americans.

  22. He decided to try my 308 and took his first deer yesterday! Nice little 9 pointer. Any good/bad reviews of a Ruger American? He saw one in the store that he liked. He'll finish this season with my rifle but I plan to get him something for Christmas. I am keeping the price point on the lower end but can move up if needed. I know that he will keep it for life.

  24. So I went to the Gun Crew to checkout the much lauded P365. Looking for something smaller than my G19. I had always been a fan of the Kel-Tec PF9 size (except for the trigger) and thought this might work. After looking at the P365, XL, and Xmacro, it was hard to pass up the 17 rnds of the Xmacro. I've never been able to get comfortable on a sub-compact frame (G26, M&P, etc.) without adding grip sleeves and the such, so I usually ended up with the XL or Xmacro length anyway. After holding the XL and Xmacro there wasn't enough difference to go with the XL. Also, a big plus is the Xmacro optic cut. It is a much better redesign from the XL. Initially the Xmacro cost a bit more, but when I started adding in the grip modules, slides, barrels, etc. that I would inevitably get - the Xmacro came out ahead. There aren't a whole lot of holsters or mags available yet, but that is a patience thing. I'm told mags will be available by the first of the year (2023). However, with 2 17rnd mags I'm carrying 35 rnds in a smaller and lighter package than a G26 (15 more rounds) and more rounds than my G19 (4 more rnds) in a much smaller foot print! Not sure I need a whole lot more mags! I've also noted that usually, XL Kydex (molded) holsters will not fit the Xmacro due to the rail redesign. Hoping to get some rounds down range! BTW - The Gun Crew is selling the P365 Tac Pac for considerably less than anywhere else I've seen. In fact cheaper than the stand alone p365! They have a ton of every variety.

  26. It's decent ammo. Not match quality, but fine for plinking or practice. I bought a couple of cases of it a while back and have shot about 400 rounds through Glock 17, 43, 48, and a Kimber 1911 with zero issues. The author complains about velocity being less than 100 fps lower than stated, but then admits to using a barrel 1/2 the length of the test barrel. As for the blooper round, that is all on the manufacturer, but I have gotten defective rounds from other manufacturers before. Had a couple squibs with both WWB and UMC. A few years ago I sent back a case of Speer Lawman because nearly every box had 2 to 5 rounds with the primer seated backwards.

  29. The 340PD is probably the ultimate J-Frame sized .357/.38 pistol. It’s lightweight and just disappears. That light weight also might cure you of wanting to shoot it a bunch with full house .357 loads.

  30. Excluding high-end guns like Korth and Manurhin, I'd opt for a pre-lock S&W 686 Plus or a Ruger Security Six. For current production guns, GP100.

  32. Personally, I love the Colt Python. But, due to the cost of getting one, it is tough. So, I would echo the endorsement of the Ruger SP-101 earlier mentioned.

  33. IMHO it would be the older pre-lock S&W L-frame 586/686. This gun was designed specifically for the .357 Cartridge. The older K-frame was nice to carry, but proved to be a bit light in both strength and weight for continuous use of Magnum ammo. The N-frame was plenty strong enough for whatever ammo you wanted to use. However, it is a big, heavy gun. S&W designed the L-frame to be beefy enough for any magnum ammo and still be readily carried. its the perfect .357 revolver. Just for the record, I'm also a big fan of the old Ruger Security Six line. But Ruger stupidly quit making them a long time ago. Never cared much for the GP-100 or the SP-101. They just feel clunky to me. But then if you truly want the best of the best and can afford the price : Korth!
