So I went to the Gun Crew to checkout the much lauded P365. Looking for something smaller than my G19. I had always been a fan of the Kel-Tec PF9 size (except for the trigger) and thought this might work. After looking at the P365, XL, and Xmacro, it was hard to pass up the 17 rnds of the Xmacro. I've never been able to get comfortable on a sub-compact frame (G26, M&P, etc.) without adding grip sleeves and the such, so I usually ended up with the XL or Xmacro length anyway. After holding the XL and Xmacro there wasn't enough difference to go with the XL. Also, a big plus is the Xmacro optic cut. It is a much better redesign from the XL. Initially the Xmacro cost a bit more, but when I started adding in the grip modules, slides, barrels, etc. that I would inevitably get - the Xmacro came out ahead. There aren't a whole lot of holsters or mags available yet, but that is a patience thing. I'm told mags will be available by the first of the year (2023). However, with 2 17rnd mags I'm carrying 35 rnds in a smaller and lighter package than a G26 (15 more rounds) and more rounds than my G19 (4 more rnds) in a much smaller foot print! Not sure I need a whole lot more mags! I've also noted that usually, XL Kydex (molded) holsters will not fit the Xmacro due to the rail redesign. Hoping to get some rounds down range! BTW - The Gun Crew is selling the P365 Tac Pac for considerably less than anywhere else I've seen. In fact cheaper than the stand alone p365! They have a ton of every variety.2 points

It's really not that grey. You can sell anything you own. You can't build with the intent to sell (manufacture) without a serial number. If the ATF is after you for an 80% build that was in a private sell, you've got a whole world of other problems. The 80% would be the least of your issues.2 points

There is NO law against you buying your buddies pistol as long as neither of you are felons and are both residents of Tennessee. Let’s now pretend some law enforcement agent who is ignorant of current law deciders to give you a hard time over it. How do you suppose he can prove you didn’t build it?2 points

You don't have to lie. Don't talk. Also, if you serialize it, you open a fresh can of laws you have to abide by. You are also now subject to direct inspection and stringent laws regarding compliance about transfer, books, etc. You think the first question is grey, you just moved deeper into the cloud. It's kinda like talking to the police. Once you start, you're legally broken. If you don't start talking you're much better off and under much less legal jeapordy.1 point

Here’s a thought. Don’t buy someone else’s unserialized, homemade gun. If you want to make one of your own plan on keeping it. Problem solved.1 point

Raise your hand if any law enforcement agent ever asked to check the serial number on your gun. A a side note, I found this quite interesting. https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/judge-guns/2022/10/13/id/1091786/1 point

Original Sharps New Model 1863 cartage conversion. Serial number indicates early production New Model 1863 that was first produced as a cap fired breech loader during the Civil War and then after the war, 1867-68, converted to a 50/70 caliber cartridge weapon. Thes saw service with the U.S. Army until the Springfield trap doors took over as the main issued service rifle and carbine. This carbine is in good mechanical condition and complete with a very good bore. Finish on the barrel has turned to a dark gray/black. There is no casehardened finish left on the receiver. The stock is solid but does show signs for shrinkage on the butt stock at the toe. Partial cartouche on left side of stock. Wood shows several dints and a couple of gouges. Absolutely your prerogative. I would offer there is potentially a bias at work based on personal relationships or familiarity which is choosing to ignore a single objective fact in this, or rather excuse it. I have made no secret of the fact I think the media is about pushing agenda, so I'm one of the last people taking things as rote from the media. Throwing out the Editorial content, one is left with events and wording. If you are holding out that they have purposely changed the words and misquoting, yes, that would matter. But its also possible they did not. Focusing on events. Really only one needs to be considered: A The women was handed a loaded gun with it having been thru multiple employee hands at the point she picked it up. This required a particular environment to allow that chain of events to occur. Especially in a professional environment. I appreciate that folks can be genial, talk the talk, but execution is all that matters at the end of the day. They did not execute as events clearly show. The gun did not do this. This was a process / people failure. In my mind those in charge shoulder higher responsibility for ensuring competent staff who follow procedure at all times if they were not directly involved.1 point

Look, I am going to give these folks the benefit of the doubt because I've been a customer and I got to spend about two hours with Bob Allen talking about a variety of topics for a podcast in the past and found him to be incredibly knowledgeable, professional and squared away. He's not some Paul Blart Mall Cop type. The media isn't exactly known for quoting things accurately OR in context, nor are they known for being favorable toward gun ownership issues. So bear those things in mind before we start piling onto the bandwagon.1 point

Those were some pretty remarkable comments made by the ‘training director’. Subverting responsibility, and treating the like is just one of those things that happen beyond their control. He doesn’t seem to understand it’s a refection of his attitude and poor practices. Two key item he said compared to what we all know we’d do: WSMV4 asked Allen if it is the responsibility of the employees to check the gun before handing it the customer. “Sometimes yet, but sometimes it happens before the employees can stop them,” Allen said. The right answer: Yes. Always yes “when you deal with deadly force tools in your hands a lot, unfortunately every now and then something like that happens,” Allen said. “We are just trying to minimize this happening ever again.” How about: Prevent this happening ever again. When you resign yourself to safety is just a nice thing to have if you have time to be bothered to remember and that personal responsibility is beyond your control…you get what you get. Got to hand it to this guy for having the nards to be quoted saying, well…guns…sh@t happens, what the hell do you expect me to do about it.1 point

Let’s clear the air on one thing real quick. The SN on the barrel or slide mean jack all in this case. ATF requires any manufacturer to engrave their name and serial into the firearm which, in the case of a P80, is the frame. Same as any handgun. The fact that barrels, slides, and frames carry a serial number is only based upon tracking of the major components through the manufacturing process and to help in quality control.1 point

Anybody need some old Jim Beam bottle for their bar? These are '68-'75 vintage. Not real valuable but cool as decorations. I will trade ya a new bottle of cheap bourbon, under $40, for these 3 old empty bottles.1 point

copy and paste from another forum I posted in. I picked up the 4.25” Saturday after not winning the giveaway and was able to get it out to the range today. I was getting a little worried about how it was going to do after seeing a ton of complaints on FB with mostly FtF issues. Before the range I cleaned it really well and hit it with a bunch of Lucas gun oil along with a lot of dry fire the day prior. 400rds total. Only rest it had was when I would load both magazines (20-17) then burn through them at about a .7 cadence. Had four issues total. All issues just so happen to be when I was using the 17rd magazine. Failure to fully go into battery around round 200 Then 3 consecutive FtF around 290 No more issues to 400. This was just plinking ammo I had laying around 115gr blazer Alum/brass, I have some hotter ammo on order to continue breaking in. Not impressed at all with the trigger and will be sending it off after I near 1k rounds. Other than that I’m pretty happy with it, it’s not a Staccato but it is a more budget friendly way of getting into a 2011. I will be taking it out again tomorrow to put a few hundred more through it.1 point

The last time I shipped anything, UPS and Fedex required that the sender or the receiver be an FFL (one or the other). Otherwise, returning something to Smith & Wesson, Ruger, etc for service would be all but impossible. Where are you getting your information?1 point
-
Generally when sending a firearm in for service, you contact the maker, company or provider first. Making all arrangements prior to shipping. More often than not, they will e-mail you a pre-paid shipping label. Simply attach that to the package and drop off at the named carrier.1 point

I am up in Boston for a couple day's, on business. I had some spare time yesterday. So being a big Sig Sauer fan. I figure ill take a ride to the Sig Sauer Experience Center. Pick up sum swag and who knows, maybe get something from the " nursery " and have it shipped home. So an hour ride and I get there. See a a road sign reads "SIG EVENT PARKING AT RACETRACK". My ❤ is starting to to pick up some extra beat or two, three and so on. Get to the center. What do I see security guards, and just about everyone I see is carrying a bag or two BLACK SIG SAUER BAGS. My ❤ is racing now. Did I show up for some sort of flash sale, give away, WHATS GOING ON HERE!!!! Turn the car into the parking lot and was greeted by a security guard. I'm thinking your slowing me down, I'm going to miss something. He greets me and informs me " SIR, SORRY WE ARE CLOSED FOR EMPLOYEES APPRECIATION DAY!0 points
