Vintage 7x57 Mauser sporter - receiver reads: fab. nat. d'armes de guerre herstal-belgique Came out of an estate of a friend of mine. His father had it built by a gunsmith in Arkansas sometimes in the 50s. It hasn't been fired in more than 40 years. Bore looks great, always stored in humidity controlled storage. Numbers match on receiver, bolt and barrel. Interesting looking muzzlebreak. Has a Redfield mount, not sure of brand of steel scope with A.O., but looks like an early Weaver. No other marking found on it. I have never shot it. $750 for a classic deer rifle2 points

I picked up a rifle from a wonderful member of this forum last week. The rifle is way too nice for me honestly. It's intended use will be riding on my side by side or 4 wheeler, which in my experience is one of the roughest things you can do to a gun. I did what I could, I ordered some self adhesive medical pre wrap tape (available on Amazon in a variety of camp patterns and solid colors). I paid $8.50 for 4 rolls and used 2 on the rifle. I'll probably order several more and do some of my other rifles as well. If you aren't familiar, the tape is non adhesive but sticks to itself. I believe it will do a good job protecting against dings and scratches. 20 years ago I would have bought a wood stocked rifle and just used it, but as expensive as they have gotten I'll do what I can to keep them in good shape.1 point

I have a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 TMCQ (MOA) in a Larue LT745 20 degree mount that has been sitting in my safe, since I stopped competing with my AR. Only to sight in AR once since checkup. It was sent back to Vortex for a check-up and is like new. Superb optics/very crisp glass. If you check reviews on these you can see they are highly touted. Includes quick adjust magnification lever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBS4u43cFs0 $475 Price lowered $395 SOLD PF1 point

I cannot say enough about Randy and Harris Combative Training Group. This was another outstanding class. I've taken several classes with Randy at Harris Combative TN/GA/AL Training Group and have never walked away disappointed. Randy has an incredible amount of patience and is a brilliant instructor. This class focused on bug (conceal carry guns/back up) guns. If you are going to carry one to protect yourself, you should be proficient and comfortable using it. We began with the basics, dry fire, dry fire with a penny, then on to live fire. We used dummy rounds to clear jams and see if we are jerking the trigger. At the end, we did the Bakersfield test and saw the results of our training. I was quite pleased. When it comes to firearms, I don't think you can ever get enough training. I'm so glad Harris Combative takes the time to come out to Windrock Shooting Range so I don't even have to travel far for these valuable classes. Best part is that Randy makes training/learning fun, we had a lot of laughs but most importantly, I walked away with a lot more knowledge and confidence than before the class. Thank you Randy!1 point

I believe you genuinely feel this way, but it’s only your truth. Therefore this isn’t a personal attack on you. It’s easy to dismiss something, someone or idea’s if you don’t completely and fully understand them or if your lifestyle has not and never will fall in line with the subject you don’t care for. I think the term woke is overused. I say it just to make heads explode. For me woke falls into the category of the so-called golden rule we were taught as kids. It’s that simple, yet people resist. Very few communities are more childlike than the gun community. We’ll shyt on just about everything and everyone, but when it comes to our guns, it’s time for civil war. It’s amazing to watch. In general I pay attention to the people who have no empathy. They’re usually the assholes in any group. Even people I disagree with on certain issues, I can usually put myself in their place, understand their reasoning and still disagree based upon my experiences as long as the other person’s desires cause no intentional harm.1 point

The problem with these woke folks is that they're constantly out there looking for new problems to whine and cry about. They're like a bunch of kids running around with a stick in hand looking for a new bear to poke.1 point

I do. And you do. And Daniel does. Core morals, I believe, tend to be societal. However moral values that extend past those cores or even some interpretation thereof is up to each individual. Generally with the younger or “woke” folks, we are talking more about values that fall on the fringes, items that effect smaller and smaller groups of people. I’m happy there are people trying to care for something. But you cannot force your morality onto someone else. You can’t force beliefs onto someone else. Changing someone takes two way communication, empathy, reasoned debate and understanding. And most of the time today, neither side of any discussion is willing to give the other a fair shake. Arguments are made with emotion and shaming and that’s why instead of making progress, society is regressing and heading towards a downfall.1 point

I like the hellcat a lot but I have medium size hands. The recoil is fine with a proper grip. I added a red dot so the short sight radius isn’t a factor but the iron sights are great.1 point

I’m gonna go against the orthodoxy here and say that she needed to go. Even though the new guy will be measurably worse, she needed to go. The truth is that she wasn’t going to be replaced by better. The city had to get worse before they could understand why they needed to choose better.1 point
