  1. Sorry, I'm going to keep backing in. I have a couple of reasons for doing so. 1) There is less likelihood of backing into something while backing into an open space than there is backing into a parking lot where people are walking and cars are going by. (I also don't assume that any of those people are paying attention for chit). Plus if taller vehicles are parked next to me I can't see if traffic is coming when I back out of the space. 2) Parking spaces are getting smaller than they used to be and a lot of vehicles are getting larger. I can't see the lines on either side pulling in, so I'm guessing. If I back in I can see the lines in my mirrors so I can center my vehicle in the space so that I'm not parked on or over the line because people that can't get their vehicle in a single space are one of my peeves.

  2. Selling this new, unfired Winchester Model 70. Comes with box and papers. Does not come with scope or rings pictured, but I will sell with the Talley Bases. Bought this last year as a donor for a custom safari rifle build...but I found one already fully customized, so I went that route. Great rifle, for a great price. Hard to find right now. $1500

  3. Preliminary report of the Texas House investigative committee released today. There’s a lot to process but one thing for sure is that kid was poster child for issues. https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2022/07/us/uvalde-report-full-document/

  4. - People who don’t use turn signals. - People who think anybody cares that you don’t like Glock, sig, Taurus, tactical leverguns, etc…If someone specifically asks your opinion than freely give it. If they say, I really like my (insert whatever) and somebody comes out of left field to say, “well the grip angle”, or “that Tupperware gun won’t last”, or “back in my day” you are immediately getting tuned out. It would be like you marrying a blonde with big tits, and instead of me being happy for you that you have found what makes you happy I say, “well she’d be a lot better if she was a brunette with a big ass”. It’s weird, and rude. - Gun guys that open carry into awkward places for the sole purpose of making people uncomfortable or to troll for a reaction, while crying “because I can”. - People who don’t put up their shopping carts. - People who call 911 for an ambulance ride to the hospital (for some non emergency BS) because they think it gets them to the front of the line at the ER. Typically people that aren’t paying for their own healthcare, thereby jacking up the cost of it for everyone else. - People who use abortion as a form of birth control.

  7. Well you lump all of us into one pile, thanks. We are trained to back in, and you can not see if a person is behind you when backing out. I try to "pull through" before I back in, even park further out into the lot to avoid any issues.

  8. Well, statistically, you are less likely to have an accident backing into a parking spot than backing out of a parking spot. And before you fuss that it takes more time to back in than pull in forward, that may be true, but leaving it quicker. I think folks often get mad a people backing in because they either don’t want to wait, or they are in a hurry and dot realize what the person is doing and are following too close.

  10. Ruger Wrangler with Super Walnut Altamont Grips. Gun is in great shape. Comes with box and factory paperwork along with the factory grips. I bought this from another forum member a few months ago, fired it a few times and stuck it in the safe. I am now wanting a Henry lever 22 rifle and can better justify it by selling this one. Located in Lenoir City. $200.

  18. The two Ducati motorcycles are gone, but the Harley is still here. Anyone need a nice HD? I've decided to thin the herd substantially, so three different bikes for sale. The first has been listed here for a time: 2004 Ducati 999 Standard. The bike has 6817 miles on it, and is in great condition. I bought this bike several months ago from a fellow who had it sitting in his shop for 6 or 7 years. I brought it home and went through the bike from front to back, doing all the maintenance and repairs required. The bike now runs and looks great. A partial list of things done: New front tire, rebuilt brake calipers, rebuilt clutch master cylinder, replaced clutch slave cylinder, replace battery, replaced air filters, fuel filters, fuel pump, oil and filter and coolant. Did a full desmo service, valves are all adjusted within spec and replaced the cam belts. I'm sure there's other stuff I forgot. $7200 firm. The only trade that might interest me would be an S1000RR with cash on my end. The bike is not registered or insured, so a test ride requires cash in my hand and signing a liability agreement. Second is a 2008 Ducati 1098S. Take a look at my Craigslist ad in Knoxville for pics and a full description. 10,xxx miles on the bike, fresh service, excellent condition, $10,000. Finally, a 2007 Harley Davidson XL1200C. This one is also listed in the Knoxville CL. 8100 miles, excellent condition, $5500. All of these bikes are well-maintained and the Ducatis have never been ridden faster than 160 mph. Clean titles on all.

  19. Im a supervisor at a boat factory and we have a simple solution for that. If you are late for your shift then you get a half point. If uou start at 630 I expect you to be in my startup meeting at 630. Miss a full day and its 1 point. 4 points is a warning, 5 points is a final warning which means no promotion, raises or moving to other departments for a year. 6 point is termination, no questions asked. It can seem harsh but its fair.

  23. When a business has double doors and I'm walking in through one and people going the other way stand outside the other door waiting for me to and my posse to get through. Just open the other door and go about your business. More of a "WTF?" than a pet peeve since it really doesn't impact me at all. But on the subject of businesses with double doors . . . why do some bozos unlock one but not the other? That's an irritant for sure when I reach for a door and it's locked only to find the one adjoining it is unlocked.

  30. I do the opposite, if someone is passing the front of my house and I am mowing near the street, especially if they are walking with kids, I just shut off the mower until they walk/drive by. Then I start it back i and keep on mowing once they are past.

  31. People that mow their grass and throw the clippings in the street or at the side of my truck while I’m driving on that street. Don’t they know if they only turn the chute the other way, the grass won’t go in the road... Drivers that make a sudden left swerve just before they turn right. It doesn’t help...

  33. 1) People putting along in the on-ramp like they’re not concerned with “merging with ongoing traffic” then getting to the interstate and acting like everyone should move for them because NOW they have to get somewhere. 2) People who pull in front of the store and park damn near on the sidewalk to go in the store with empty spots right by the door. Essentially blocking in anyone who actually parked in a spot until the butthole gets done shopping. 3) People who are healthy parking in handicap spots because they’re too lazy to walk to another position many time two or three spots from the handicap parking. 4) Laziness in general irritates me, whether in public or at work. I probably have thirty more but these pop out at the moment.

  36. Even folks who are going faster than the speed limit in the hammer lane bug the crap out if me when they continue to stay in that lane when it is obvious I want to go faster. The driver that will pace with you. They are going 75 or so. I pass them and they speed up and pace me. I keep going faster and they pace me. Then I pull over to let them pass and they slow down as soon as the get ahead of me. So I pass them again and they speed up again. Drives me crazy. Usually if you hold it at 95 for 5-10 miles, they give up.

  37. Even if it is/was perfectly legal, anyone with any assets would be an idiot to do this in this day and age. Why risk losing everything for someone that you don't know or quite honestly as mentioned can buy a jig and do it themselves. If you are afraid of screwing it up, just buy a lower and be done with it.

  41. Introducing Shane Kerwin and Personal Survival Solutions: As most of you know, I am a firm believer in getting good training from reputable and knowledgeable educators with experience in firearms safety, effective and responsible use of firearms for personal protection, risk avoidance and de-escalation techniques, unarmed combat and personal emergency medical skills. It is very rare to find a person who can educate on more than one or two of those concepts at a high level of proficiency. That is not to say there is anything wrong with finding a person who is an expert in any one facet of "preparedness", but rather to point out that while we all endeavor to be well-rounded practitioners, it is difficult to find people who are far enough down that road themselves that they can effectively instruct others. Often times, the people who operate at that level of proficiency come to us from highly trained, highly specialized units of military service or law enforcement. Shane Kerwin, founder of Personal Survival Solutions, is such a person. Mr. Kerwin served in the US Army's 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group as a junior Medical Sergeant. During his 16-year tenure with 5th Group, Shane served as junior and senior Medical Sergeant, Company senior Medical Sergeant, Special Operations Target Interdiction Course (SOTIC), senior Cadre and Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge, Company Operations Sergeant, and Detachment Operations Sergeant (Team Sergeant). During his time with 5th Group, he deployed 7 times in the Global War on Terrorism and has additional deployments under his belt. Now operating in the civilian sector, Shane Kerwin is bringing intensive, realistic and proven skills and concepts to the rest of us. He has made it his new mission to help regular people protect themselves and increase the security of their families by imparting what he has learned on the topics of Mindset, Weapons, Skills, Equipment and Environment. The ultimate goal is to teach you to make good critical decisions to mitigate threats and respond to an increasingly dangerous world. I hope that you will not only join me in welcoming Mr. Kerwin and PSS to our community, but that you will click over to their website, learn more about what he has to offer, and sign up for a class or two. Maybe we'll end up in one together. Website: https://www.personalsurvivalsolutions.com
