I'm a huge believer in individual freedom. I don't believe anybody should have the authority to tell any individual what they can or can't do with their own body. The choice to get or not get an abortion is between the woman, her conscience and God. Frankly, its nobody else's damned business. Abortion is not and never should have been a legal issue. Its a moral issue.5 points

Another reason to go CAT is that a larger percentage of people know how to use them. I'm a SWAT medic and while our guys are free to set their kits up however they want for the most part I want their blow out kits pretty much universal. One guy kept putting his old RATS in his. Finally convinced him that he wants every guy on the team to know how to save him quickly and not have to figure out some different device.3 points
-
I put them to use and have them staged everywhere. To the OP, the CAT is the best to use. Nothing is as effective, but other styles can be effective as long as you aware of their limitations. Biggest thing is to make sure you train and practice with them. You don’t want to be trying to read an instruction manual when you or someone else is bleeding out.3 points

I prefer the CAT style because it seems to be able to put more pressure on the limb, to stop bleeding faster. Of course it's the style they issued us and that I am more familiar with, but even some the improvised styles have a stick of some sort to apply the pressure. I sold a bunch on here from some medical lots I got some time back, still have a few that I place in a bunch of places to have one available if needed.2 points

Selling to fund a purchase. Gun runs fine for what it is. From Hi-point it has a lifetime warranty, no questions asked. Check their website for more info. Buyer comes to me, welcome to shoot a mag of their own ammo in my backyard to verify function. If a meet is preferred I will provide my schedule and route, happy to meet along it in Greeneville, Mosheim, Bulls Gap, Morristown, Rogersville, White Pine, New Market areas. I also travel 81 up to Exit 36. Option to purchase a case of factory 9mm for $350 at time of sale. Price is firm. Choice of Blazer Brass 147gr, Aguila 115gr, Winchester 115gr or Federal 124gr. That was why in many military units the kit is always standardized, so any member can find and use whatever is required without having to even worry if it's your kit or not.1 point

So important. If one is training/working with other folks then IFAKs should be standardized in contents and placement.1 point

Hard cover issue, 1994 printing, no yellowing of pages, or tears, excellent condition. Classic book written by legendary lawman Bill Jordan, who passed in 1997. He was the one who influenced S&W to produce the Model 19 and 66. I saw Jordan at Bianchi Cup 1987. Didn't meet him as he was surrounded by his entourage, but cool I was standing 15' from fame. Internet shows crazy prices of $100 plus for hard cover copies, I'll take $40 FTF SOLD1 point

***SOLD*** Ruger PC Charger with SB Tactical brace, Magpul grip, and MidWest Industries hand guard. Barrel comes off and brace folds so it is super compact. Currently has a Sig Romeo red dot on it. $900 - Really looking to sell, but would consider trades, particularly for a micro9 with a red dot, like the Sig 365 or the Hellcat, or a Glock 30, 30S, or 36, or maybe an AR pistol. Can do trade or trade plus cash1 point

I firmly believe that forcing a woman to carry a child conceived by rape or incest is cruel and unusual punishment for something they didn't want. I also believe that if a woman is going for that exception then they must file a complaint against the man. That way they can't simply claim something to get an abortion.1 point

In many cases, regardless of what side of the aisle a policritter happens to sit on, abortion is a loser of an issue and most want to avoid it at all costs. As with many of the "hot button" issues, it's much better (from an election standpoint) to be able to rail against laws you know are unlikely to ever get changed than to actually have to make decisions regarding enforcement or other actions relevant to the issue at hand. It's also a lot easier to raise money by opposing positions your constituency finds objectionable than by defending laws they agree with ...1 point

The Texas Tower Sniper was in 1966. https://www.britannica.com/event/Texas-Tower-shooting-of-1966 EDIT: You weren't old enough to remember it, but these things, or things like them, have occurred for a lot longer than you've been on this earth.1 point

That isn't quite the same, I am ok with a state telling the feds to pound sand within their borders, but having a legislative body in your state being selective on what state law they will enforce, for political reasons, should be a giant red flag to all of us. If TN were to pass a law I could not live with, I would fight to get it changed, or move. I don't like sanctuary cities/states for illegal immigrants, but feel the same way about those, for those who undoubtedly will accuse me of only supporting conservative laws.1 point

This seems to be on to of the wall between politics/no politics. That said, isn't this the same thing as the "2nd Amendment Sanctuary States"?1 point

In .45ACP, carrying FMJ doesn’t bother me at all. I do recognize that there are better rounds out there, but 230gr ball is also proven.1 point

That is where you and I differ, first we shouldn't have to SBR anything, as it is no more lethal than a rifle, maybe even less so. But I would say that someone who puts a brace on a pistol has done just about as much work as someone who goes the SBR route. They both understand the law, both want to stay legal, and both have, probably, passed a few background checks. It's just that the brace guy didn't feel like the government is due $200 and all those weeks or months of waiting to legally own a weapon which the constitution clearly says he should be able to own.1 point

JustEd is correct. Every gun has its own unique personality. What works perfectly in one gun, may not work at all in another of the same make and model. All you can really do is experiment with different ammo. First requirement is reliability. Second is accuracy. Most any quality self defense round will get the job done. With the current ammo situation, I'd suggest you buy a box or two and give them a try. If one is reliable, use that. At some later time when prices and availability are better, you can fine tune then. BTW: hardball has worked successfully for over 100 years now. Don't sell it short.1 point

You are correct, sir! Politicians of all persuasions have no interest whatsoever in solving anything. They only wish to gain money, power, and create an imaginary dragon they intend to slay if you’ll just send campaign money and re-elect them. If something In their interest happens to align with your interest, you can, for the most part, chalk it up to a happy coincidence.1 point

I don’t know what, if any, biases statista hold. Everytown on the other hand is a Bloomberg funded organization created for the sole purpose of enacting gun control so its biases are a known quantity. One is a data set of unknown quality. The other is a data set that is extremely suspect in its veracity due to the strong bias of its source.1 point

I just did a quick google search for how many people in the USA died in mass shootings. It appears that out of 350,000,000 people 1,051 have died in mass shooting incidents from 1982 to July 4, 2022. While any death is one too many, I would probably consider 1,051 out of 350,000,000 over a period of 40 years in order to preserve our liberty a reasonable trade off. We have fought a lot of wars for a lot less and lost many more lives. The danger from mass shootings is way overblown.1 point

From this I am guessing you and I were in agreement when it was previously discussed that closing asylums a few decades back was not a good choice. I would look to finding a way to move back to that model. Obliviously we would need to ensure funding was there for treatment and protection of both staff and patients.1 point

For the record, I don't like Daniel either and frankly wish he'd just move on. However, AFAIK he hasn't committed a ban worthy offence. He just pisses people off. OTOH, preaching to the choir gets old and boring. Its good to have an opposing viewpoint now and then. What does bother me is that when a thread goes completely off topic because people can't seem to get along with each other, Surly all of you have had to deal with someone you just infuriates the Hell outta ya, but there's nothing you can do about it. Think of Daniel like that and move on. Now can we please get back to the subject at hand?1 point

I’ll be honest with you Daniel, being one of the more moderate people on this forum (one who typically sides with Erik88, Linksys, ChuckTshoes, BTR and is not a Trump follower), you come across as a troll to me. And you have been coming across like that for years. How you’ve managed to keep a membership here, is beyond me. The only time you ever show up is either during an election period or after another tragic shooting. And then simply to antagonize. I don’t think I’ve once seen you talk about any firearm or firearms related subject other than gun control in the decade or so I’ve been here. And again honestly, that makes me wonder if you even own firearms. A political hack and troll is actually what you come across as. And quite honestly, if you were to leave for another gun site on the internet, I doubt anyone would miss you. I could be wrong, but I don’t think so.1 point

I suppose we could easily fix all of the above, but I'm just brainstorming. All privately owned swimming facilities (including pools and lakes) must have a trained life guard on staff 24/7 or must otherwise be rendered unusable (filling with concrete is the favored solution). Vehicles may now only house 49% or less of any given immediate family. Of course there is inherent danger in driving/riding in an automobile, but this will limit the total number of casualties to less than half of any given family at any given time. All construction tools may only be used in pre-approved safety construction zones under supervision. Consumers of such tools will be searched upon exit of construction zones to prevent removal of said tools from safety construction zones. All kitchen hardware must either be made of plastic and also be shown via testing to break under any force considered outside the normal operating force for typical kitchen use. This includes forms and sporks as well.1 point

I asked a direct question in hopes of getting a clear and direct answer for once. Thank you for providing that. While I absolutely don’t agree with your views (at least as I understand them) I can see the merit in your aims. I will suggest altering your technique. If it seems as if I have changed from being initially supportive of your presence upon your return to expressing disdain there is a reason for that. Your posting style as of late has been more indicative of someone interested in trolling as opposed to legitimate discussion and exchange of ideas. If you’re actually looking to engage with folks here in an honest manner, then do so in a direct and honest manner instead of throwing shade and #### posting. Diversity in thought and even contrarian viewpoints are valuable to any community. The problem is when those views are expressed in a manner designed to elicit anger and sow discord. It is the reason that we eliminated the general politics sub forum. It did not bring anything positive or contribute to the overall health of the community. Even in a place that is mostly leaning in a similar direction, it just ended in needless fights. So stow the general/world politics posts. They’re not welcome. Getting back to the main point, how about more posts like your last? That’s what I was hoping to see from you when you returned with an obviously contrarian worldview. If you want to be an actual part of of this community, I know I personally want you to be, heterodox views and all. If you’re just going to go back to stirring up mess with no purpose, you won’t have to leave voluntarily.1 point

Statement in bold could be applied to swimming pools, vehicles, hammers, kitchen knives, etc. Less kids would drown if we didn't have swimming pools. Less families would die if we didn't have vehicles. Less boyfriends would bash the brains of their girlfriends if they didn't have hammers laying around unlocked. Less girlfriends would stab their cheating boyfriends if kitchen knives were all made out of plastic.1 point

Who seems to use your ownership of guns in the same way that folks like Tim Kennedy use their “I am a veteran“ card to advocate for gun control or the way that some people will use the “I have a black friend” card as a shield. While you may own guns, you seem to come here solely to advocate against them and shove general politics into anything you can. Considering this is a forum dedicated to talking about firearms and expanding firearms rights, I will ask again. Why are you here?1 point

So if you don’t have any actual interest in firearms, why are you slumming it around here amongst us?1 point

Once again the MSM Plasters their name and Facebook posts leading up to this and gives them a new record to break. Check out the body count for this weekend in Chicago before this but no mention in MSM. They need to cut out making this person a herp to many. It will not cut it all out but would be a good start.1 point

I just run what JMB designed. But I totally look at the 1911 platform as a combat handgun and not some super accurate target pistol. Not into tight tolerances and such. I want it to run when I need it.1 point

Before people should need to pass a phycological review to own a firearm I think it would be far more important to need one to run for any kind of Public Office-1 point

The full length guide rod is a un-necessary part that only complicates field striping of the gun. Changing to a standard guide rod is quick and simple. I've done it several times.1 point

The answer to that is he’s a felon who can’t own guns. I’m not terribly interested in his ideas on regulating them out of the hands than can.1 point
