  1. What folks may or may not do on a hypothetical day in the future is one thing but it is explicitly against the TOS to solicit or promote engaging in illegal activity. Outside of being against the rules, openly talking about breaking the law (even if the law in question is a bunch of BS) is stupid and asking for needless trouble. In the interest of the wellbeing of any dogs that may live or even just be in the general vicinity of your house, I’m locking this thread. We’re done here.

  2. I am by no means an expert but it sure does look like an M4 bayonet designed for the M1 Carbine. Yours would be WWII made with the leather handle.

  3. OK so Bolsonaro is scum. But so are most world leaders. Nothing new there. It doesn't alter the fact that easing private ownership of guns resulted in a large drop in murder rates.

  5. It's amazing that no matter how high speed we try to get, the basics still work just fine at a faction of the price. Give me that cheapest in the aisle toothbrush, CLP or Rem Oil, a basic bore brush, a cloth or old t-shirt, some qtips, pipe cleaners, and a dental pick...I'll get any gun clean enough to take back to the range, or keep ready to go.

  6. That has been their Agenda for many years. Miss Feinstein out of commieforna said it out loud if she had the votes she would take them all. That was years ago.

  7. Guess we really shouldn't be surprised at selectively "ignoring/supporting" certain laws. Bunch of us tend to get upset when "changes" don't go along with what we support. Maybe we should really be upset when there are break downs in order of rule of law . I remember some really good conversations years ago when Colorado became the 1st state to legalize marijuana although that violated federal law. Most that supported legalization were not upset, most that did not support thought it was horrible. Many states have followed that same mindset and that ideology has filtered down from state to local in many situations.

  8. Sad times we're living in nowadays. I'm only 56 and never thought such things like this would happen in my lifetime, seem's to occur once or twice a week. The systems in place do nothing but hurt the law abiding gun owners we seem to pay the most for these idiots crime.

  11. The Lulz is no longer going to be joining this conversation, ever. His thoughts on FP aren’t in play anymore. We can leave talk of Russia and Bolsonaro to the side. ——————— If it is prohibited to use a firearm for self defense even when the criminals have them, then yes, one’s right to self defense has been effectively removed. Maybe not in name, but definitely in practice. It’s a semantic dodge to pretend otherwise. This is the norm around the world. The US is one of the few countries that explicitly recognizes the right, but there is no way you don’t already know that. If one is limited to fists or melee tools to defend one’s person than the winner of any confrontation will almost always be the person who is bigger, stronger, and more skilled. Unless one party has a firearm in which case they will win nearly always. In an example of the practical outcome of this, to remove the ability of someone to use a firearm for self defense is to condemn almost all women to be the victims of almost any man that wishes to do them any sort of harm. Or different, non-firearm example. In the Jim Crow era poll taxes, literacy tests and other obstacles were in place to prevent black folks from voting. Sure, they had the right, in theory, but did they in practice? Not in the least. Nobody pretends otherwise. So to answer the question I posed rhetorically earlier, yes. If you remove someone’s ability to effectively exercise a right, then you have removed that right.

  14. We lost our Dad on December 5 last year. Back in 1972 my brother and Dad were selling donuts for the Scouts. Ran up on a man selling raffle tickets for a rifle. A deal was made, Dad bought a ticket and the man bought a box of donuts. Well the man called and Dad had won. My Dad never liked firearms so the rifle was put for a a few years. When I got older we would beg to get the rifle out and shoot. I moved off and had a family as well as my brothers and sister. The rifle was put up and forgot about. My brother got the rifle and asked me to get some ammo up so we could shoot. Well being a hand loader I had some cast and powder coated lead. Found the brass, dies and went to loading some up. On Fathers day this year my brother gave me the rifle. He and our other brother had talked about giving it to me for Fathers Day. We shot it for the first time in 35 years or more. This past Saturday my son and myself went to OK Corral to shoot. Here are is the target, now it is hard for me to see that well with iron sights, but I will say I did think I did just fine with a 50 year old rifle and my 63 year old eyes and untested loads. The hits in the red are off a rest to get crono numbers, the rest are seated off hand. The rifle has some age and a few "beauty marks".

  18. I actually don't think the JT cares about criminals having guns (well he does, but that's not who their gun laws are aimed at). He is looking to control his fellow Canadian citizens, after that little spectacle they experienced in Ottawa with the COVID Truck Convoy. I believe that shook him and the liberal party up, in Canada and they had enough power to take action. Quite honestly, had the Democrats had the numbers here, after January 6th, I think we would have seen the same thing here.

  23. Interesting. I checked The Lulz profile and under "Military" he said NO. Yet he uses military terms. Probably learned playing Call of Duty. Also "I'ma" is social media slang mostly used by the younger crowd. I also looked up Lulz in the urban dictionary: "lulz 1. A corruption of 'lol' or a purpose misspelling of 'lol'. 2. An idiotic excuse to do ANYTHING offensive or disturbing (and as such, funny) used mostly by Chantards (4chan, IIchan, etc.) Gaiafags, or any usual member of Encyclopedia Dramatica. 3. Something funny that is caused at the expensive of others. File these under things that make you go Hmmmmm.

  25. Even if it is/was perfectly legal, anyone with any assets would be an idiot to do this in this day and age. Why risk losing everything for someone that you don't know or quite honestly as mentioned can buy a jig and do it themselves. If you are afraid of screwing it up, just buy a lower and be done with it.

  27. ***PRICE DROP*** Ruger Super Redhawk .454 Casull Made in 2000 in the highly desirable “Target Grey”. 7 1/2” barrel This gun is not a safe queen but it is in very good shape for it’s age. The trigger has been smoothed and polished, which makes for a very comfortable pull. It also has the Hamilton Bowen extended length firing pin installed. Appx .020 removed from the trigger face for additional primer detonation reliability. Trigger Shims installed on the hammer, trigger & the hammer dog. Cylinder Shims also installed to reduce end shake. Barrel to cylinder gap is tight. The hammer strut mainspring has been replaced just out of caution due to it’s age. HIVIZ LITEWAVE front sight. This creates a very nice sight picture with the factory rear sight. Installed is a Hogue recoil absorbing grip and I’m also including the factory grip. The included OEM scope rings look mint. The OEM firing pin and front sight are also included. I’m including the OEM case and instruction manual. Also included is a basically new Gunfighters Inc Kenai Holster. Round count is less than 50. It has some minor scratches due to the firing pin install, some minor holster presentation scratches. Very nice condition for being 22 years old. I'll include 40 rounds of 240gr and 40 rounds of 300gr Hornady ammo. Located in Nashville, but travel throughout middle Tennessee for work. If you're interested, I may be in your area soon. $1200. Not interested in trades at this time. More pictures in comments.

  29. Depends on what you're shooting out of. More compact frame with shorter barrel say like 3" or less I'd go for the heavier round, if you're shooting a full size with 4" or greater barrel length, the lighter weight might perform better.

  31. On the NBC evening news, they brought up the fact that before the shooter could even buy a gun, he had to apply for and receive an Illinois FOID (Firearms Owner ID) card which required a background check. Further, He applied at age 18 and his father had to sign the form confirming his approval. If he's 21 now, that means that his FOID was approved in 2019, the same year of his previous Police encounters. Yet, he received his FOID and it was never revoked.

  32. It's not "paranoia," it's a stated fact that it is illegal according to ATF. Don't pose a question without doing your own research and then talk poorly of those giving you assistance. That's poor character. The "grey area" you're looking for is YOU using YOUR friends jig to complete it. Not having him to do it for you.

  36. Actually, you haven’t schooled anyone. You basically strolled in and did the pigeon on the chessboard strut. You’re new here so this is your one free warning. We expect better of folks than this. You wanna debate your point, do it with reason and facts. Strawmanning, ad hominem and name calling aren’t helpful on any level.

  39. So you are in the "We gotta do something!" group but have no idea as to what. That sounds like a typical leftest. I believe that this entire mess started with the LIBERAL Supreme Court saying that you can't involuntary commit someone. Now they are on the streets killing people by any means they can find. Let's start there: What would YOU do to address this problem.

  40. I asked a direct question in hopes of getting a clear and direct answer for once. Thank you for providing that. While I absolutely don’t agree with your views (at least as I understand them) I can see the merit in your aims. I will suggest altering your technique. If it seems as if I have changed from being initially supportive of your presence upon your return to expressing disdain there is a reason for that. Your posting style as of late has been more indicative of someone interested in trolling as opposed to legitimate discussion and exchange of ideas. If you’re actually looking to engage with folks here in an honest manner, then do so in a direct and honest manner instead of throwing shade and #### posting. Diversity in thought and even contrarian viewpoints are valuable to any community. The problem is when those views are expressed in a manner designed to elicit anger and sow discord. It is the reason that we eliminated the general politics sub forum. It did not bring anything positive or contribute to the overall health of the community. Even in a place that is mostly leaning in a similar direction, it just ended in needless fights. So stow the general/world politics posts. They’re not welcome. Getting back to the main point, how about more posts like your last? That’s what I was hoping to see from you when you returned with an obviously contrarian worldview. If you want to be an actual part of of this community, I know I personally want you to be, heterodox views and all. If you’re just going to go back to stirring up mess with no purpose, you won’t have to leave voluntarily.

  43. All that is true when talking about right to carry laws. However, there are other areas of gun control - "assault weapons", magazine restrictions, suppressor ownership, semi-auto bans, punitive taxes on ammunition, etc, that this decision doesn't address.
