  1. One of the best laws regarding handgun carry permits the obfuscators in Nashville ever passed was closing access to personal information of those who hold permits. It wasn’t that long ago that TN newspapers regularly maintained searchable databases of who had permits.

  2. Correct. This has no bearing on the Standard or Lifetime EHCP.

  3. ***PRICE DROP*** Ruger Super Redhawk .454 Casull Made in 2000 in the highly desirable “Target Grey”. 7 1/2” barrel This gun is not a safe queen but it is in very good shape for it’s age. The trigger has been smoothed and polished, which makes for a very comfortable pull. It also has the Hamilton Bowen extended length firing pin installed. Appx .020 removed from the trigger face for additional primer detonation reliability. Trigger Shims installed on the hammer, trigger & the hammer dog. Cylinder Shims also installed to reduce end shake. Barrel to cylinder gap is tight. The hammer strut mainspring has been replaced just out of caution due to it’s age. HIVIZ LITEWAVE front sight. This creates a very nice sight picture with the factory rear sight. Installed is a Hogue recoil absorbing grip and I’m also including the factory grip. The included OEM scope rings look mint. The OEM firing pin and front sight are also included. I’m including the OEM case and instruction manual. Also included is a basically new Gunfighters Inc Kenai Holster. Round count is less than 50. It has some minor scratches due to the firing pin install, some minor holster presentation scratches. Very nice condition for being 22 years old. I'll include 40 rounds of 240gr and 40 rounds of 300gr Hornady ammo. Located in Nashville, but travel throughout middle Tennessee for work. If you're interested, I may be in your area soon. $1200. Not interested in trades at this time. More pictures in comments.

  4. Thanks @Chucktshoes. So for those of us with the OG Handgun Carry Permit, we don't need to do anything other than renew like normal?
    2 points
  5. If you read the document @GlockSpockposted in full, it actually does explain it pretty well. This is only applicable to the Concealed HCP (and they were sloppy as hell as is their norm when they wrote that law). There was no renewal fee attached to the renewal of the Concealed HCP. This fee and change in renewal term from 8 down to 5 years covers the costs associated with the required background checks for the permit renewals. While TN did adopt a version of permitless carry, this is a separate program and they have no relation to each other in practice or administration.

  6. And just to show that you can get every opinion across the range when you ask a question on the internet, I'll chime in that scooping works just fine so long as you use a consistent method. I use an electronic scale when I'm loading up varying load to test for accuracy, but for bulk reloading a scoop is fine. In fact, drop-style powder measures are just giving you a load based on volume, just as a scoop does. BUT, I wouldn't use multiple scoops unless you don't have an option. Lee sells a set of powder dippers pretty cheap. And every Lee die set comes with a dipper and load data. Stay simple while you're learning, follow the loading manuals, and stay on the safe side of the loads you choose.

  8. We've now seen the most horrific mass shooting since 2012 and came out relatively unscathed as gun owners. It has become increasingly clear that the entire gun control debate is used and loved by both parties. The Democrats know they can't really do anything and probably don't want to because they know it will cost them. Someone mentioned they were probably relieved after the latest SCOTUS ruling. The Republicans use it for votes and create fear any chance they get. They actually helped the Democrats pass this bill because they know they have gun owners by the balls and nothing in the bill was bad enough to upset us. I have been a member here since 2010 and been through many election cycles where we were assured the next Democratic victory would lead to the end of the 2nd Amendment. I still remember people saying Obama was going to put us in FEMA camps. After the events in the last month it's going to be very difficult for me to believe that serious gun control is possible. The Supreme Court has made it clear where they stand. Republicans will need new fear mongering material for the next election. I'm sure both sides will come up with something to keep us fighting with each other.

  10. Does anyone load for 8mm-06? My father has a Mauser conversion that was done by his brother in the 60's like most that were converted. All the reloads he has were done by one of two of his brothers sometime in the 80s. I don't think they were loaded for accuracy, as it's sporadic. He has asked me to try some loads and see if we can get it shooting better. In the end it may be the gun (or the smith that worked it) but right now I'd say it's mostly ammo to fault.

  14. You need to be outside city limits and shoot in a safe direction, backstop, etc. As a good neighbor, you should be as respectful as possible to your neighbors. Several of my neighbors often show up to shoot with me. Otherwise, I’m on my own property, and I am holding a loaded gun. I’ll shoot if I want to.

  15. My question was somewhere rhetorical. I find the timing of this change odd because Tennessee just went to permitless carry recently. Not full constitutional carry but close. So one doesn't even need to get a permit to carry most places but NOW Tennessee wants to add these background checks for people who actually have a permit? It doesn't make much sense.

Makaroff sits on the pedestal mount as a gunner while Frederick T. Moore looks on." I never realized that that gun was produced in so many different calibers over its life 6mm Lee Navy 7×57mm Mauser .30-40 Krag .30-06 Springfield .303 British 7.62×54mmR 6.5×52mm Carcano

  21. I try to get to the Gray show a couple off times a year, the last few years I haven't been to many. I hope to be at the July show. It's size varies from show to show and has it's share of knife, shirt and jerky dealers but usually a pretty good show. I go to look not planning to buy much and sometimes I get surprised. I usually go on Saturday mornings, if we both go and we match up time wise, maybe we can meet up. Coupons for $2 off can be found online I usually print out a few and hand them out to people around me in line.

  22. The red flag law will be a favorite weapon of an ex wife or jilted lover. “I’ll show that SOB!!!!” I also imagine the litmus test for a liberal judge for crazy is that you desire to own a “weapon of war”. Others here have much more faith in .gov, and people in general than I do.

  25. I believe that will be a RK Show. They pretty much have Tennessee covered. I can't speak for that area, but here in the west end they're generally pretty decent. Especially if your interested in ARs and plastic pistols. They have lots of that stuff. RK does the Jackson show and I always attend that one. I will be going next month. Great American also does some TN shows, but I've never been impressed by them. It seems that gun shows are getting fewer and farther between. What with more restrictions, money being tight, the price of gas and Covid, there just aren't as many shows as there used to be. Its always a crap shoot. Quality depends entirely on which vendors decide to show up. Most times all I buy is a Dr. Pepper. But I still go to all that I can. Sometimes even a blind squirrel finds an acorn.

  29. As I posted elsewhere … Target Sports USA has cci and federal small rifle primers in stock. In 5k lots only with free shipping. That works out to 60-65 bucks per k, depending on brand. Not bad by todays standard. No small pistol though if you are interested in reloading. This is the way to start off. Get the supplies while you can. Presses and dies aren’t that hard to come by

  33. So I ended up buying a Honda tiller. After letting the ground dry up, I was able to get it all tilled , rowed and planted yesterday evening with a little bit of finishing up this morning. Of course this gel on probably the hottest days of the year! I planted a couple more tomato and pepper plants as well as corn, peas, Lima beans and okra from seed. Hopefully it produces decently this year with little soil amendments other than fertilizer.

  35. I've got a Vaultek that I keep in my nightstand. Bought from Nashville Safe house. No complaints and I've had it a couple of years. It has a keypad for a code or fingerprint reader on it. Easy to get into relatively quickly if needed. It also has an alarm that will go off if someone like a child is messing with it. https://vaulteksafe.com/products/vaultek-view-all-vt-series/vaultek-vt-series/

"The private information of California’s gun owners was posted in publicly-accessible files to the California Department of Justice’s 2022 Firearms Dashboard Portal, The Reload reported." "The Reload reviewed a copy of the Los Angeles County database and found 244 judge permits listed in the database. The files included the home addresses, full names, and dates of birth for all of them. The same was true for seven custodial officers, 63 people with a place of employment permit, and 420 reserve officers." 39. Bob, I want to start by thanking you for increasing my enjoyment of this M&P. Seriously. You've made owning this one even better than I could have imagined. Being totally frank with you, that is probably the only thing you've increased the enjoyment of around here. This isn't my first M&P nor is it the only one in my house. I think we have about seven of them right now between my wife and myself, and except for this issue of cross-threaded optics mounting screws, none of them have caused me any trouble. We have put actual thousands of rounds through them in a variety of high round-count defensive pistol classes over the past 14-years, in the mud, in the heat, in the rain and bone dry. They've always just worked and always had more than acceptable accuracy. I say this because you've basically disparaged a whole section of your fellow gun owners on TGO and I don't want anyone else to read your bull#### believe for a second that they should feel bad about their own choice of gun any more than other VP9 owners should feel bad because one of them makes dickish statements on a forum. But, back to how you've increased my enjoyment of this particular M&P. The last thing I really needed was another M&P, but since folks were raving about the incremental improvements of this recent evolution, I thought I might as well pick one up and give it a go. I also thought it would be fun to put an optic on it and go hurt some feelings of other gun snobs at the range by bringing a mid-tier pistol with a so-so rep and, without adding thousands of aftermarket parts to it, and outshooting some of them on qualification drills. Can't wait! Anyway, stop disparaging everyone else and enjoy that VP9, Bob. Not every gun has an anus at the end of the slide, but HK certainly knows how to cater to their niche. (This is the anus at the end of the VP9. It's not the anus at the end of the gun that you might have thought I was referring to.)
