I killed this pig in February. The meat has been curing in a brine in my outdoor fridge since. Not intentionally, I've just been insanely busy for the past few months. Took it out and marinated it in Dr. Pepper for about 8 hours, slathered it in mustard and covered it in a rub. Threw it on the smoker overnight wrapped in foil, then gave it 4 hours of smoke this morning after unwrapping. Curing then smoking is a bit different but it's really good. Almost like pulled pork that is reminiscent of jerky. I'll will do this again for sure.4 points

And they have never been challenged before SCOTUS. They are blatantly unconstitutional and every city/state that has sued over them settles by writing a check. Somebody with a very large check book has to file suit, and stick with it to get things like this ruling to become the law of the land. And you'll note this was a STATE level group (helped by the GOA), you know who you NEVER see helping back one of these lawsuits? The NRA - and yes the NRA filed a brief AFTER SCOTUS took the case so they could claim this was an NRA victory. For crying out loud John Cornyn is still listed on the NRA website with an A+ rating - https://www.nrapvf.org/campaigns/2014/vote-cornyn/3 points

I find that they are kind of hit or miss. I know a thing or two, but I'm still learning. On this particular pig. I'm fairly certain that I cooked up one of the front shoulders as pulled pork and it wasn't fit to eat. I suppose spending 3 months in the brine would make just about anything edible though. More than likely I will just keep that tub of brine in the refrigerator and just dump off hams for however long I feel like when I get them for now on.2 points

Built mine out of 2x6 lumber. Works great. You can go as simple or as fancy as your heart and budget allows.2 points

Please explain. All of the public testimony has come from TFG staffers, conservatives, family members, cabinet members and people who say that they would vote for TFG again. The only testimony from anyone with no ties to TFG were the two election workers. No democrats testified in the public hearings. I don’t want to argue. I just want to know how we’re being played. What am I not seeing? Thanks!2 points

Hopefully enough informed voters are paying attention and not just listening to the main stream media. This is just more evidence we have to pay attention at the local, state, and federal level. Just voting along party (either one) lines isn't enough. I haven't been back in TN long enough for my reps to be annoyed by my calls and emails - but that day is coming!2 points

I wouldn’t gloat too much. I have a feeling things are going to get really ugly very, very soon.2 points

I have a Beretta M9 Commercial in 9mm. It is a exact clone of the military issue Beretta M9 that was in service for so many years. Gun is in good/great condition and was produced in 2013 per Beretta which was the first year production for the M9 Commercial. It will come with (1) 15 round magazine. Just to be clear this is not a 92 series pistol. It has a completely different series serial number and is stamped with ASSY number. Asking $450 They are typically closer to $800 if you can find one in stock. Lowered price1 point

I have done both and certainly more cost effective you build your own, but I prefer to use a toolbox so I have storage under it. You can never have enough storage. I have a 50" Milwaukee toolbox that I used. I personally added a double layer of 3/4" plywood that is glued and screwed under wood top on the toolbox for extra support. For me, the support of the top is critical. I then screwed the whole thing to the wall for extra stability. You can build a simply one out of 2x4's, just make sure to put a post directly under the where you will have the press(es) for the load to be pushed to the floor. I guess it also depends on the "accuracy" you are looking for. I want as little movement/flex as possible as I load for precision/accuracy most of the time. Like most things, budget and frankly expectations are the key factors.1 point

They're counting homemade AND guns recovered where the serial number was removed. The VAST majority are guns recovered where the serial number has been removed.1 point

Never mind, you're a bit too far for me. Good luck with selling, it's a beautiful piece, I've been trying to get my hands on one of these ever since my step dad passed away and we cant find his one issued in the Corps. I have his 1911, but couldn't find his M9.1 point

I already wrote my state legislators about Red Flag laws. They know where I stand. I can't wait for Red Flag to get to SCOTUS. Put an end to this nonsense for once and for all.1 point

I have been meaning to build a set of cornhole boards for a while. I have buddies coming over to shoot tomorrow so in the spirit I did this. Just need a couple of coats of poly on it.1 point

Ever heard of “free speech zones” where demonstrators are herded into designated areas far away from the event to exercise their free speech? I recall it being implemented and commonplace at federal and local levels somewhere between 2000-2008.1 point

I'm using PLA+. PLA+ on amazon The designers recommend the "+" version of PLA as it handles the stress better than regular PLA and PETG. I don't really expect to get more than a few thousand rounds out of it. Nothing in this built will have gone thru an FFL. It's more of a statement about having the right and ability to make a functioning firearm using only a 3d printer and non-4473 controlled parts.1 point

I still like .30-06, .308, and 6.5Grendel for any rifle shooting out to 800 yards. I haven't had much occasion to shoot further than that.1 point

This is a huge reason we needed Trump over hillary during those crucial 4 years of multiple SCOTUS appointments. A lot of people say it makes no difference dem or gop, but it matters a lot. Just imagine if we would of had hillary’s appointments rulling on this instead of trump’s.1 point

I just stumbled on this forum while researching TN gun laws. Glad I did! I'm a GOA member but not NRA. Politics . We've got to stay free, folks, and hold on to what God gave us. I drive truck and listen to podcasts all day. I'm pretty up on all the crap out there and frankly fed up. I'd suspect I'm not alone on that. Peace1 point

308 is my main night cartridge. I've shot a staggering amount of 308. It's biggest problem is that it's not sexy anymore. For hunting, my cut-off is 450 yards. Most bullets break the 1800 fps barrier at that point. I've done quite a bit of 1k yard target shooting with it also. If I'm shooting in town I do fall back to the 5.56 for safety reasons.1 point

I guess I'm the only person who still likes it and and is willing to throw out 308win. The furthest I have ever shot is 650m but the 308 did that just fine. It is my deer rifle (18" AR308) of choice and I got four deer this past season all in the 160-200m range and 3 didn't move 10' from where I shot them. The 4th was just a bad shot on my end. I tripped on a root and dropped my rifle, startled a young antler-less buck, I picked up the rifle and waited for him to pause, he did and in my haste to make up for dropping the rifle and nearly busting my..... cheeks.... I forgot basic marksman ship and didn't utilize a hold over so instead of a good hit I gut shot the poor guy. He took off. but all the others plopped right down.1 point

For anyone debating the value of this, between my family and I we own 6 of these, the price is on point, plus this has wooden furniture, imo much better than that synthetic stuff they're throwing on everything these days, I get it, lighter is nicer to carry, but you can't beat the quality look and feel of wood. Good luck to selling sir!1 point

I just picked up my Ruger American .223, after having the chamber rebut to .223 Wylde & the throat/freebore lengthened. He did an absolutely fantastic job. I was warned that it would take about 8 weeks to get it done & he was 100% to his word, to the day. Very reasonably priced, really nice, knowledgeable Smith & someone I will DEFINITELY do business with again, no question.1 point

You know raccoons are pretty smart animals. I've successfully run them off with some well placed BB gun shots. Takes a time or two or three to get their attention, but after that, they get the message that it's painful to be messing with my trashcans. Just a thought,1 point

Absolutely. Go to the door and introduce yourself and assure them that you will leave there property in better shape than you found it. Just be yourself. Us old folks appreciate the younger folks being polite. Getting harder to find them like that. Ask about hogs too!1 point

I've read some responses to Branca's piece that say Branca ignores or was ignorant of some pieces of Texas law that change things. I don't know Texas well enough to say, but Branca is a probably a good starting point at the very least.1 point
