  1. It is a sickness I tell ya. I have always had a thing for classic bolt action deer rifles, especially older wood stocked ones. I have more deer rifles than I can hunt with but that does not seem to matter when I comes across another. I am especially fond of older Sako rifles. I found a single owner Sako Finnbear in .338 Win Mag from 1967, my birth year, and just had to have it. It has definitely been used but is in good shape for being 55 years old. It also has a great looking wood stock. The fact that I did not have a .338 win mag currently just made the decision all the much easier. The gentleman, who lived in Coloardo at the time, ordered this from Herters in Minnesota. He paid a whopping $149 including tax and shipping. He actually kept the original hang tags and all the paperwork from when he bought the rifle. I did not realize that when I bought it so it was a cool surprise. The scope that is on it is a Herter's scope. It is not marked but I am guessing it is a fixed 6x. Anybody have any .338 win mag for sale?

  2. I’ll be doing a temporary move soon, and I’m dreading moving my ammo. I think I’m going to pay my nephew to load it up for me. I don’t want the movers to have a clue about my stash. When the wife retires in 3.5 years we’ll be permanently moving to Freedom Land (Florida).

  13. I agree, but it needs to be the right kind of nuclear. PWR's are 70 year old technology, there's way better ideas now. The NRC needs to look forward, not backwards. As for all the new neighbors..... welcome to summer in the south! We haven't had a real scorcher in a few years, we're due. It's not even July yet much less August, get ready.

  15. Sadly, the folding stock and removable mags generally reduce the price. There are some who will covet such things but most like me look at it think "How much will it cost me to un f@ck it". That said, it boils mostly down to condition, missing pieces, and permanent modifications like holes or ground down/off bits, how many numbers match. You will need detailed pictures for anyone to even begin to guess at value. Based off what you said though ~$250ish without knowing more.

  16. I don’t know how many here are familiar with .gov municipal construction practices, but going through traditional channels, you’d die of starvation before you gained the necessary permits to construct a sandwich. This stuff won’t be solved in a few months, and if a near sighted fool like me can see it coming, it’s bound to be a disaster.

  17. I have spent some time analyzing the TN gun laws for my own knowledge and tried to simplify the most common scenarios that many of us may encounter. The following flowchart doesn't include all situations like employees of universities with permits, for example. However, I tried to include what I understood as the laws and how they pertain to those with and without a permit. I am not sure that this is exactly correct and the law seems to be a bit more complicated than I would like, but I attempted to put it in a format that I could more easily consume. I would appreciate any feedback or help in validating what is here. Please do not bank on this being 100% acccurate as laws change and my interpretation may not have been correct in some situations. Hopefully it helps some of us not get into unnecessary trouble. Thanks EDIT: Updated May 27, 2022 TN Gun Carry Law Flowchart-updatedMay272022.pdf

  19. Has anyone researched or found a solution for a receiver mounted rear aperture sight that is compatible with the factory front sight, ie similar to M1 Carbine, Ruger Mini 14 Setup? I've searched the Ruger forum, and researched products from XS Sights and New England Custom guns. Also asked Ruger tech support with no help. Thanks,

I'm right there with you, I load for myself and about 15 other people regularly. my press is almost 3x my age already, and it'll probably last another 100 years, it was my grandfather's passed down to my old man and then to me. I just thought I'd give a little insight on some issues I've had in the past with my set up, you know little things that sometimes get overlooked with time.

  27. Suppose TVA is looking over their shoulder now at the Hartsville nuclear plant they started back in the mid 70s. Would have been the world's largest at that time. One cooling tower still standing. Supposedly, they decided they didn't need it. Great planning by someone.

  30. SKSs have kinda turned into a collector niche all its own. At least a half dozen or more arsenals produced them for at least as many countries. What its worth now depends greatly on exactly what it is, who made it, when and its condition. Any modifications usually subtract from the value. Generally speaking, an un-molested, military rifle is currently selling for around $500.

  32. That’s very true, and now you’ll hear a very rare thing from me, I’m totally ok with that in this instance. Regardless, nuclear energy and strengthening the power grid should be a national project on the level or greater than of the creation of the TVA in the first place.

  33. Nadler is out of touch and definitely has no clue what our law enforcement officers has. Revolver really? I just hope this drags on way pass mid-terms and losses steam. How can you pass a law that allows the govt to take your property without due process? I was born in the Philippines and now and American Citizen. I remember the then president Ferdianand Marcos declared Marial Law and declared "Surrender your all your guns within two weeks or FACE the DEATH penalty", Folks did and he became a dictator for more than 30 years, no one could opposed him and his justification was mass shootings.

  34. It really all depends. Don’t know what the current SKS market is but it’s not worth a penny more than one in original configuration, much less actually to someone who appreciates such things the way they were made before bubba got a hold of it.

  40. Hopefully the coalition falls apart before anything gets through. That said, no. Even if this does get through you will not get anything on your wishlist. At all. Ever. That’s not how “compromise” on guns works. When it comes to gun laws the only compromise on the table is that they take away less than they were after, this time. They’ll come for more later, and keep coming until somebody forces them to stop.
