  2. Nuclear is probably the most regulated thing in the U.S., even more than people, lol.

  3. So what’s gonna happen when everybody drives home from work and plugs their electric cars in to recharge? Ya’ll seen TVA building any more plants near you?
    3 points
  4. Sorry. Everything is good. It’s just the heat this week. Nothing to worry about. TVA did bring another reactor on line at Watts Bar. And they have built several new combined cycle power plants to replace aging coal fired plants at Paradise, John Sevier and Allen.

  5. So I ended up buying a Honda tiller. After letting the ground dry up, I was able to get it all tilled , rowed and planted yesterday evening with a little bit of finishing up this morning. Of course this gel on probably the hottest days of the year! I planted a couple more tomato and pepper plants as well as corn, peas, Lima beans and okra from seed. Hopefully it produces decently this year with little soil amendments other than fertilizer.

  6. I know this is an old post but I remembered posting about how much I hoped to one day have a Nightforce scope. It took a while and took me getting bitten by the long range bug, but I now own two of them. Top picture is the newest one, it’s an NXS 3.5-15x50 with MOAR reticle sitting in an ADM mount. I put it on an AR15 that I use primarily for coyote hunting. Bottom picture is the first one I bought to replace my Vortex HS-T on my Savage 110 Tactical 6.5 Creedmoor. It’s a 4-16x50 ATACR with MOAR reticle sitting in Badger Ordnance 34mm rings. I am absolutely in love with these optics! I can’t afford to put them on everything, but my main rifles will all be topped off with them as soon as I can do it. Just wanted to share my excitement with y’all!

  7. That’s very true, and now you’ll hear a very rare thing from me, I’m totally ok with that in this instance. Regardless, nuclear energy and strengthening the power grid should be a national project on the level or greater than of the creation of the TVA in the first place.

  8. Its water in these parts. We are maxed out and have 900 new residential connections to meet by years end

  9. No, it’s not. But it does need to be addressed. The last time I checked the population is not decreasing, demand is only growing for resources, and no one wants to come to an equitable solution to ease us into some kind of sustainability. Buy electric cars now is as equally ignorant as drill, baby, drill.

  10. I don’t know how many here are familiar with .gov municipal construction practices, but going through traditional channels, you’d die of starvation before you gained the necessary permits to construct a sandwich. This stuff won’t be solved in a few months, and if a near sighted fool like me can see it coming, it’s bound to be a disaster.

  11. It really all depends. Don’t know what the current SKS market is but it’s not worth a penny more than one in original configuration, much less actually to someone who appreciates such things the way they were made before bubba got a hold of it.

  13. We really need to be going full on into nuclear. I don’t understand how this isn’t so completely effing obvious to everyone.

  16. Yep, shaping up like a typical summer around here. Not quite 8:00am and I'm fixing to cut my grass before the heat really kicks in. Current temp is 82 with 76% humidity. I spent most of my working career having to deal with all kinds of weather. Its good to be retired.

  17. You’re crazy. Everybody at work today was bitching about the heat and a few said, “I can’t believe it’s this hot.” Ummmmm news flash, it’s Memphis, it does this every summer, at least the past 50 summers… And the news doesn’t talk about the temperature any more. Heat index sounds scarier I guess.

  19. I just got this as my many month search for a commander variant was not successful and of course as soon as I get this exactly what I want becomes available. So I bought that too and this now has to go unfortunately. Cherry condition Dan Wesson Vigil in 9mm, comes with everything you see including the new VZ grips (wood DW included). It is an absolute dream to shoot and far more accurate than I can be. These are next to impossible to find due to limited production and are some of the softest shooting pistols I've ever fired. With the alloy frame and 25lpi checkering, it's a fantastic carry piece without the usual 1911 weight. $1400 in the greater Nashville area.

  22. I live in the middle of nowhere. There are currently over 200 outstanding build permits within 1 1/2 miles of me and these houses are being built as fast as possible. We currently can’t produce enough electricity to meet current needs apparently. This is scary.

  23. The 7mm Mag. is a fine caliber but bullet weight is limited. For me the 300 Win. Mag. was a better choice for reloading. More variations of bullet weight can be used in this caliber.

  24. I have 3 types of older bore sighters and I really like the mirror idea. Never thought of that! I used to sight in rifles ALOT for customers when I had a business and A bore sighter is not worth all the money they ask for some of these if you know how to sight in a scope properly. Its pretty simple really. Invest in a good sand bag set or better yet is a lead sled where you lock the gun into a target rest that fixes the rifle solidly in place on the table. Put one hit on the target, set the rifle back in place to where it was on bulls eye before your shot. Without moving the gun, look threw the scope and turn your scope adjustments un till the cross hair is now dead on that first bullet hole. The more fixed to the table the gun is while turning the adjustments, the fewer shots you will need. I could sight in a rifle with 3 shots and that was holding the gun just fixed into sand bag rests. Trust me when I tell you, barrels are not perfect in being bore centered or being straight threw the center of the OD of a straight barrel. These "normal" inconsistencies is why any bore sighter is expected to be a paper hitter only. I still use a Bushnell sighter that has a single bore rod with spring on the end and it has put dead on target holes and on some, not even on the paper. Iv never used a lead sled but I,m thinking that would be the most fool proof way to zero on the fewest rounds fired. Bore sighter? .....not so much.

  25. ENERGY STOCKS...thats it....everything else right now is just overthinking it. That being said I wouldn't buy anything til we see the rate hike tomorrow and the markets reaction. No need to be a hero.

  27. I just picked up my Ruger American .223, after having the chamber rebut to .223 Wylde & the throat/freebore lengthened. He did an absolutely fantastic job. I was warned that it would take about 8 weeks to get it done & he was 100% to his word, to the day. Very reasonably priced, really nice, knowledgeable Smith & someone I will DEFINITELY do business with again, no question.

  29. I have to admit being Memphis raised I do miss 88 degrees and oppressive humidity at 9:30 pm...every once in a while. But this is ridiculous for East Tennessee.

  30. That exact same procedure works with an AR. Just take the upper off and set it on a rest of some kind. It’s not all that difficult.

  34. I shoot what I carry , my reloads duplicate bullet weight and velocity of my carry ammo for practice. Currently carry .40 MP or 1911s in 45 , both 5 inch thumb safety models to keep them similair. About done with 40 , once my stock is used up I will probably phase them out. Other than a little barrier penetration the 9mm performs about the same these days. Get up a little bigger 45 and 10mm and there starts to be some performance difference again.

  35. As few and far between range time is, I always run at least 1 if not 2 full mags of self defense ammo on my 2 carry guns. Then just send range stuff until I feel confident at different yardages hitting the spots picked on the target. I have more than 2 handfuls of carry options but I've narrowed it to 2 for all seasons. My shorts are too big and jeans are too tight so the way I carry varies too.

  36. With 4.2 gallons under the seat n 76 mpg, this scooter is my go to for town errands most of the time these days. My trail cam caught us getting an early ride before the leaves popped up here on the Plateau. I got rid of the grass in front of the house last year with a patio and wall. Hopfully, I'll get the screen room extension put up where the ladder is. Dang county raised my assessment by 200K this year!

  37. Got a 60x35 plot turned and disced this evening. I’m a little late to the game but will get some later stuff planted this weekend……. Once I buy a tiller. I just can’t bring myself to rent and after discussing with the wife we have decided to up the budget and get something that will last quite a while. I’m eyeballing a Honda FRC800. I do plan to till between the rows during grow season so renting really wouldn’t work anyways.

  38. Not sure of your context. In general not a reason to ignore pursuing a course of action to deal with a broken system ignoring the real problem. In this case, the shooter threatened to go on murder - suicide spree at his school. The cops arrested him, state mandated mental eval and hospitalization. That’s a criminal matter. Not an elective insurance coverage situation. The state, the police, and facility all failed in their duty. Blaming insurance for systemic views on mental health is helping the bad guys make excuses for not addressing it and going after 2A…cause it’s easier, unfortunately.

  40. Call Anthony’s Armory in Red Bank. Last I heard they had reasonable rates. Carter’s in Harrison was around $50 the last time I checked. Not sure about anyone else.
