Hopefully the coalition falls apart before anything gets through. That said, no. Even if this does get through you will not get anything on your wishlist. At all. Ever. That’s not how “compromise” on guns works. When it comes to gun laws the only compromise on the table is that they take away less than they were after, this time. They’ll come for more later, and keep coming until somebody forces them to stop.8 points

The gun control crowd has been up-front that their current strategy is "incremental change". Meaning exactly what Chucktshoes said, they'll take a nibble here and a bite there, but they'll never, ever give an inch.4 points

There are a couple of things here that I can go along with. Gangs learned a long time ago to recruit members young. They use them to do their dirty work knowing full well that the law will go light on them if caught. When they hit 18, that record gets sealed. So then they have these new "clean" adults who can buy guns. My understanding is that most of this will be used for local programs that offer help within the community. That's where the help is most needed. This will give easy access to people who need help. Let's just hope they use it. HOWEVER I totally oppose Red Flag laws. This amounts to guilty until proven innocent. I'm convinced that they are un-constitutional and SCOTUS will eventually strike them down. But I also worry greatly about what other doors they may open. How long will it be before citizens can be detained or even jailed for what they might do? Scary stuff for sure.3 points

And DAs actually prosecute offenders as the law allows; especially repeat offenders!3 points

Funny thing to me is this "gun control" crowd they showed protesting this last weekend looks similar to many other groups we've seen since back in the pu$$y hat metoo days. If you hit the mute button and change the AR buster signs to MY BODY MY CHOICE signs it the same sheep running their mouth about whatever social media site got them panties all in a froth. David pencil arms Hogg still trying to squeeze a few more minutes out of tragic time which is his life at Parkland. Who GAF at this point. @Links2k told me not to worry so I'm sticking with that until further notice3 points

@cgpeanut I just want to point out and commend your optimism. It's probably a better world where you can find hope for things like national reciprocity (which, I personally don't think you want the Feds managing this) or looser NFA laws.3 points

Really wanted to like the "19" platform and yet after 12 different attempts, I don't at the end of the day. So this is up for sale: ShadowSystems MR920 Combat. Comes with 3 mags, box, bag, backstraps, magwell, and naturally the cablelock. This is not an optics cut version. $625 in the Franklin/Nolensville area. Would trade for G45 or 19x (preferred Glock grip)2 points

If it happens, so be it. I’ll adhere to it just like I do speed limits and my doctor’s advice. Those selfsame citizens that think themselves “awoken” are oblivious of the fact that they’re a weeklong power outage away from burning their cities to the ground. What irony. I’ve lived to see the day where “awake” people actually couldn’t be more asleep if they swallowed a whole bottle of Ambien and washed it down with a big jug of NyQuil.2 points

Sorry, but this isn't the start of taking everything -- it's just the latest step. Taking everything dates back to the time of the National Coalition to Ban Handguns and similar groups that were open and honest about their desire to felonize gun ownership. That didn't fly, so they've taken the incrementalist approach: working in small steps, to trim away this right, then another, before eventually arriving at what they wanted -- total bans. That said, there are some legislative steps that can be taken to improve safety. Nobody wants violent people with serious mental illnesses to have access to guns, but proposals that focus on reasonable steps like that are almost always rejected by organizations for whom gun bans, not protecting society, are the real goal. I'm going to hope that some of the mental health proposals of this new batch of laws will help protect public safety without reducing the rights of the law-abiding, but given the fact that it's not what some of the supporters really want, I'll remain skeptical.2 points

This whole bill is the start of them taking everything. It isn't about protecting our children, it's about control. Look into all the fine print. This is the outline and foot in the door for them to disarm the civilian population. This bill will have an impact on LAW ABBIDING CITIZENS. Like the OP said on point #1, you decide to make that call on your neighbor, or your ex decides to stir some stuff up and call them on you, they/you don't even get due process to defend themselves, their house will be raided, and items confiscated. How does this not bother people?2 points

I know there is a few of us who use different calibers on the range vs what we prefer to carry, my question to the group is, what's your preference in caliber for either one? I'm also aware of the fact that there's also those who practice with what we carry either by just running 50 or so rds through our carry on a range day, or using a similar firearm to what we carry, so to those people I ask, what is what is your "practice carry?" I.e. I used to carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II in .45 ACP with a 3" barrel and 7rd magwell, my practice was a Kimber Pro Carry with a 4" barrel and full size 8rd magwell.1 point

That's the best way to look at it. Look at all of these stocks that are on sales! Who wouldn't buy 9mm by the case if it were $0.05 -$0.10 a round? When the market is down is when it is time to buy. I don't understand people that only want to invest when the stock market is "doing good".1 point

So I ended up buying a Honda tiller. After letting the ground dry up, I was able to get it all tilled , rowed and planted yesterday evening with a little bit of finishing up this morning. Of course this gel on probably the hottest days of the year! I planted a couple more tomato and pepper plants as well as corn, peas, Lima beans and okra from seed. Hopefully it produces decently this year with little soil amendments other than fertilizer.1 point

This will get you on paper. Find a mirror that’s about 10 to 15 feet 20 feet is better away from you. Gun empty finger off the trigger look through the site into the mirror and adjust your site to fall on the end of the muzzle. Do this two or three times adjust as needed. This will get you on paper at about 50 yards.1 point

It's a good question. For me there are two kinds of range day...target practice and self defense practice. For the latter I practice with my carry gun(s). It doesn't make any sense to do otherwise. Yes, I have a couple of carry guns which show considerable wear from practice, but at least I know they work and are reliable. Will replace them when the wear gets excessive. Practicing with them I know where they hit and how to use them while moving. Target shooting is more stationary and can be fun with many different types of firearm (larger the better here). For defensive practice it would also be valid to use a 22 which is similar in design to my carry gun. That would be to save on ammo cost wile developing draw, presentation and trigger control. They can also work well for sight picture while moving. Problem is, there are no .22's which match the physical dimensions, weight and sights of my carry guns. For pure Fudge and giggles target shooting, I prefer a large revolver as they are accurate and fun. Also, don't have to chase the brass like on a semi-auto center-fire. One of my carry guns is a small revolver so I get da practice as well. Have fun and safely practice, practice, practice. Oh, and breathe.....1 point

My favorite carry calibers are .45acp and .38 Special. There's usually some form of 1911 and a revolver with me for range trips. But for a "range" caliber, my favorite will always be .22LR. I'm there to enjoy myself.1 point

I own a few automatic watches, around 15 Swiss made Invicta back when they were made in Switzerland. Most have the 7750 Movement. I just bought this one last month it's a Swiss made aouto Piolts watch, I'm looking to add an Omega Moon Watch to my collection ssoon. Here's the new one I just got, I'll get the Invicta's together and post some pics of them later on.1 point

Being an aviation fan, I pined for a Speedmaster in my younger days. Not feasible at the time, It started me down the road of a handful of Seiko’s over the years. You never forget your first, bought it at the BX in 1985. Keeps perfect time 37 years on. Hopefully it being quartz doesn’t distract, in it’s day it was a groundbreaker.1 point

I just got a new knock-around watch. From the internet, I think it is the HiPoint of the dive watch world, the Invicta Pro Diver. Best I can tell, it's hated by watch snobs, grudgingly accepted by watch guys and loved by the fanboys. The original pro diver is as close a copy of to the original Rolex Submariner you can get for $60 - $70. Homage watch is the term used. I was actually looking for a field watch style and Invicta popped into my search. The model I got, 35422, has the field watch look with the simple, clean Rolex-like dive styling, without the maintenance costs of a high end watch. I have a high end automatic Swiss watch, with daily wear, it requires maintenance every 3 ish years or so. It costs, you gotta pay to play. Being a left handed shooter, I wasn't interested in buying another high end watch and subjecting it to recoil. Didn't see a G-Shock that really caught my attention... For $60 plus shipping, the quality is pretty amazing. Stainless steel case with substantial weight, finish of high polish and brushed surfaces is good. Flame Fusion synthetic sapphire crystal, nice marketing. This model does NOT have Invicta etched into the case opposite the crown. The additional etching Master of the Sea and Pro Diver at the top and bottom of the face seems optimistic. Screw down crown, a little gritty, who cares Fave and bezel are well done, lume fades but visible up to 6 hours. I like the counter balance Invicta logo on the second hand What sold me on this watch was the exhibition back and seeing the works. It uses a Seiko NH35A automatic movement.1 point
