A lot of folks aren't going to like this post and I think I am honestly past the point of caring. Why? Because the people who won't like it don't have any solutions either and their feelings on what I am about to say is why we are where we're at in the first place. This country has forfeited its moral compass. We have a sin problem that has been intentionally hidden behind the symptomatic mental health problem, which itself is one that not many want to talk about. We have allowed leftists to take God out of our society. People, young and old alike, have practically been forbidden to talk in publicly funded places about the God who heals hearts and minds, who tells us what is right and wrong, and with whom heavy human burdens can be traded for peace that transcends worldly hurts. Kids brains are now saturated from Pre-Kindergarten, forward, with all manner of unnatural doctrines which warp their minds and injure their souls. They are told that boys with XY chromosomes and penises can call themselves girls, and that girls with XX chromosomes and vaginas can call themselves boys, and that anyone who dares conflict those misconceptions is guilty of assaulting their self-identities. Men are Women, Adults are Kids, Kids are Sexual Beings, Left is Right, Right is Left, Wrong is Right, Right is Wrong and God is a Myth. These days, a messed-up kid with a list of grievances in his heart often doesn't have a father AND mother at home to confide in, because we've allowed leftist ideals to destroy the nuclear family. And if the kid does have one or both at home, there is a chance that one or both are terrible human beings, themselves, and maybe the cause of some of the kid's pain. Or, at best, apathetic to it because they are just adult-sized children too, living selfish self-centered, hedonistic lives and lacking any natural compassion for their child. That kid typically hasn't been brought up to understand that there is a real and loving God who cares for him and to whom all of his hurts and pains and anger can be brought to have them sorted out and healed. So that kid just festers with confusion, anger and rage, like an infection below the skin, just waiting to burst and release all of what has been trapped inside of him. And then he makes the news, with a weapon of any sort, and a victim or list of victims upon whom he released his wrath. We are reaping what our society has sown over the past five or more decades. We asked for this. And if we want to change it, we've got to get involved. We have to save our kids by investing in our kids. Not just our biological children, but our society's children. There are a lot of kids out there who don't have mom or dad, or for whom mom and dad are a part of the problem. This isn't a situation where we can write checks and make donations and other people do the work. If you're reading this and you care about where our society is headed, you can personally get involved and you NEED to. Kids from Pre-K up to early adulthood need your mentorship, your guidance and your heart. Like I said, a lot of people won't like this post. So be it.19 points

As a Christian, I don't think God sees any good in this. We (country and world as a whole) did this. God doesn't cause tragedies like this, but he is willing to let us reap the rewards of our sinful ways. This country is broken, and I would submit it is a direct result of turning away from God and family. I'm not here to force my beliefs on everybody, but that's the way I see it.7 points

The unnatural gender doctrines is just an example of the ways that kids minds are being saturated with things that go against the natural order. Frankly, we don't yet have a full diagnosis of what likely caused this particular kid to go off the deep end - and anything that they come up with now will be purely a forensic deduction or best-guess since he is dead and it is impossible to interview him in a clinical setting. I chose that purely as an example of how society daily has the rug ripped out from its figurative feet, from a very early age, and put off balance with a litany of "issues" that don't make sense and cause internal personal turmoil and anguish. These factors compound and cause mentally and emotionally crippling personal crises that children, lacking mature and fully formed brain structures, cannot address in any sort of constructive manner. Let alone the fact that concepts like gender fluidity are fundamentally insane, as given some evidence by the extremely high rate of suicides among transgendered individuals. Anyway, all of this is to say that a single raindrop doesn't cause a flood but all of them together can. And do.5 points

I read a Tucker Carlson piece this morning that made some sense. I don't always agree with Carlson, but in this case I do. He pointed out that when there's a plane crash the FAA goes to great lengths to find out what went wrong with the plane or pilot, and to try to come up with solutions that will prevent a recurrence. He suggested that perhaps school shootings should be analyzed in a similar manner. Right now we have a bunch of politicians who instantly try to take advantage of these kinds of events, note what O' Rourk did right after the shootings. We have a bunch of pundits who offer their solutions, which are normally tied to political beliefs. But there seems to be no attempt to find out WHY these people are doing what they do. Maybe TGO David is right, kids are being bombarded with all kinds of ideas that people like me grew up thinking were perverse. They watch movies in which people are mowed down willy nilly with no kind of emotional toll at all. Video games are filled with violence, rap music is filled with violence. The abnormal has become normalized, so perhaps we shouldn't be surprised at the results.5 points

How would any of these "solutions" have prevented this massacre? Are we to believe that, if the shooter had only had 10 round magazines, a bunch of third graders would have bum rushed him in the second or two his gun was empty/partially empty while swapping magazines? Go to a USPSA match and watch what a Master or Grand Master class shooter can do with an 8 or 10 round gun. I don't believe a truly skilled shooter (fortunately) has engaged in a mass shooting yet. These yahoos often seem to have bought their gun two weeks or a couple months before their rampage. Giving up more privacy? More stringent background checks? This shooter apparently legally obtained his gun because he had no criminal record, so the only "background check" that would have prevented his purchase may be a Chinese-style social credit system. No thanks. Red flag laws? How would that have stopped this guy? He apparently exhibited no mental illness issues, at least none that anybody noticed or reported. I'm interested in hearing meaningful suggestions or conversations on what can prevent these tragedies, but the Left's worn-out drivel about punishing people who did nothing wrong is stale and (I think) shows that they are not serious about addressing the issue.4 points

Just picked this one up at my FFL yesterday. I purchased this one from another forum I belong to, it has an 8 3/8" Bbl.3 points

I would, especially if my child was in there. When the officers wouldn't go in (if this is true) and wouldn't let me in, they just became part of the threat. I have no elusion that I could walk in a neutralize the bad guy, I would submit that the probability would be high that I could very well end up as another casualty, but what other choice would you have? I just can't hardly stand the thought of kids lying there wounded and bleeding out while everybody just stood by for an hour.3 points

As an atheist, I will take a bit of a different view, but will ultimately not be far off from what I think most "God" people on here are saying. First, I don't believe that you have to be "religious" to understand right from wrong and to have a moral compass. Morals is a broad subject and we aren't going to agree on everything, but it's pretty simple to know right from wrong in the context of killing people. Why does this keep happening? Because for the most part, no one is held accountable. In the case of kids doing these things, we need to start holding parents accountable. I don't just mean a slap on the wrist or financial. I mean with extreme prejudice. If you want to coddle, cajole, and otherwise not take any responsibility for how your kids acts and the actions they take, then society should emphatically make an example of you. At some point, even the dumbest people stop putting their hands on the hot stove.2 points

Christianity in America is waning. I’m probably not the most religious person on here, but there would probably be less of this lunacy if the opposite were true.2 points

There is no argument on the face of this earth that can justify law enforcement standing by outside for 40 minutes to an hour+ while a monster murders children inside. As Krystal Ball (who I do not agree with on much at all) states in this segment (paraphrasing) “if the oath to protect and serve is for anything at all, is it not for this moment?” To those officers who stood by while children were being slaughtered inside, I will judge them as the cowards they are. They might as well be accessories to the atrocity inside. Anyone who wears a badge needs to have the knowledge that they are willing and capable of taking action in a situation like this. If they are not, then they are nothing more than a thief stealing from the taxpayers while being unwilling or unable to do the very basest level of what they have pledged to do for their community. I don’t know how I would react in that situation it is very true. What I do know is that if I stood by and let children be slaughtered like that, I would eat my own bullet before the week was out because I would know that I do not deserve to draw breath any longer.2 points

I did something and went a completely different direction last night. I went and purchased the M18 FUEL 18V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless String Trimmer with QUIK-LOK Attachment Capability and 8.0 Ah Battery. I've had quite a few of their M12 tools over the years and loved them, this is my first M18 purchase. Like @10-Ring, I agree that an oscillating multi tool is a wonderful purchase. I've had the M12 version for a few years and it's useful for all sorts of things, although blades/attachments can be expensive depending on what you get. Milwaukee is having an awesome sale right now where certain products get you a free battery, etc. However, folks in the know use a "hack" if that's what you want to call it. Example, I paid $299 for the above purchase, it comes with an 8.0 Ah battery but the promo gives you an additional 5.0 Ah battery with a sticker price of $149. The way it rings up on the receipt is that the trimmer is $199 and the battery has a "max refund value" of $99. Says that clear on the receipt. So sometime I'll swing in and return the 5.0 Ah battery. Brings the trimmer, 8.0 battery, and charger to $199.00 plus tax. I'll eventually get the pole saw for it as it would be great for trimming some limbs around the house. I did this to replace my Stihl. While a great gas trimmer, think I'll try this electric one for the summer. I paid $350 for the Stihl a few years back and think I've already found a buyer (or two, or three) on FaceBook for $300 even. I also have a cheap Walmart brand 20v leaf blower. I'll end up trying to sell it as well for whatever bills someone gives me. I think I'll do the "hack" and replace it as well. Tool ends up being less than $100. At some point I will need more batteries though so at some point I will probably have to keep one of the 5.0 Ah or buy one of the larger ones outright. I saw all of this to say I think I've decided my first purchase will be an M18 cordless saw. Even if I went out today and replaced every board on my deck, that's only 42 boards. In other words, it will be generally light use as I'm not making money cutting wood. Then I'll later get a miter saw for playing with. But it's summer and I gotta get more M18 toys.2 points

Picked this one up yesterday at my FFL. I bought it on another forum I belong to, it has SA Reciever, SA GI Bolt, SA GI Trigger Group, and a SA Oprod and a Krieger Bbl. Even though it's a CMP rebuild it looks great to me. Here's some pics let me know what you think about it.1 point

Just wanted to share that it seems the AAC 51t muzzle devices have made their way back into the market at normal prices. If any of you have the 51t suppressors and are short on mounts like I am, you better snatch them up! I ordered 2 for my 5.56 size barrels and a brakeout for my 6.5 Creedmoor. Bauer Precision and Joe Bon outfitters both have them along with some other places I’ve never dealt with.1 point

Well you said “not talking JUST gun ownership” so your wording left the impression that gun ownership was included. Whatever the case, I assumed you were playing devil’s advocate and my comments were not necessarily directed at you. I’ve read enough of your posts to know you’re definitely pro-2A.1 point

Good choice. When you get to buying a saw, go with this one. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-FUEL-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-7-1-4-in-Rear-Handle-Circular-Saw-Tool-Only-2830-20/309245503 PS: I should have added, keep the 5amp battery. At some point you will even want some smaller 2 amp batteries.1 point

Agreed, He does not see good, but my Bible says he uses all things for good and his glory...I just haven't seen it yet. Agreed, we are morally and spiritually broken as a nation as God is further excluded from daily living. I too am confused about LE response, over the last 8 years, I've attended over 20 active shooter seminars. Every instructor has stated current protocol is to engage and stop, not wait and talk.1 point

From what I've seen ... Whatever number of guns they say it will hold, cut that number in half. Unless perhaps what one has is primarily handguns. I bought one of these. (I didn't pay what that website says) I had to remove the rack mounted to the door in order to use both supplied rows in the cabinet. Bolt guns are problematic because the bolt handle will bump the one next to it if you use the supplied cutouts, even shotguns will bump each other if they have a charging handle sticking outta the bolt. So I had to skip spaces quite often. AR style firearms take a lotta room due to the grip. More still if a scope is installed.1 point

I finally got a few rounds through one of these and was pretty impressed with it. The trigger was something I could work with, and the sights and safety were a big improvement over even the MkIII standards. Accuracy was good too.1 point

My recommendation: image the largest safe you would ever need in your lifetime - then double the estimate. I bought what I thought was a huge safe - and now I have two, plus a locking cabinet for accessories, etc.1 point

Searching CMP website it looks like Oakridge ORSA, Knoxville, Memphis (lakeland) for CMP sanctioned. There are several High Power / XTC type matches locally (some short course & some full) but not necessarily CMP; AEDC in Tullahoma TN (Mid South Marksmen), Maury County Gun Club (short course), Dead Zero Shooting park. There are probably more, that is what I can think of. Also a longer drive, but CMP has locations in Alabama - I haven't been there but Talladega is supposed to be extremely nice.1 point

That's fair but some of the points in that post appear to check out. It says a lot that US Border Patrol agents had to do what local law enforcement was unwilling to do. I thought we learned from Columbine that you cannot wait to enter. This video seems to show the scene as parents begged local cops to go in. https://nitter.1d4.us/paleofuture/status/1529652093354536961#m1 point

Thanks for saying so, my friend. Those very few lines of text that you shared with us were extremely powerful and moving. I would very much like to hear ‘the rest of the story’, if you’re willing to share it. It is stories such as yours that move me the most as I have always been amazed and impressed to hear about how others have found a way to overcome such adversity and continue to simply press on! So many people have found a way, and that should be an encouragement to us all! Please, my friend, if you’re up to sharing your story, please do….as little or as much as you’d like. I would especially like to hear more about your Step Father because it sounds like he really stepped it up for you. After my Dad passed, my Mom remarried about a year later. At first I must admit that I was not very happy about this…I suppose I wanted my Mom to mourn his passing for the rest of her life and simply be miserable! Thankfully, and very much like your own situation, the Lord saw fit to place a wonderful man into our lives and today I love him every bit as much as I love my own Dad….truth is I’ve now had my StepDad longer than I had my biological father! You really just never know how things are going to shake out, do ya?1 point

I usually tell people who have problems with Glocks to remember to point their support hand thumb at the target. This forces you to roll your wrists forward which gets the sights on target. People always say "lock your wrists" but that means nothing me to at all, my wrists don't have keyholes Over time, you just automatically tell yourself, "Pick up a Glock, thumb toward target"0 points
