agreed never use C3 for self defense, no need to interject the feds into your life.....ever... I had a encounter with LE years ago, seen 3 guys who looked like LE and the far end of the shooting lane, did a mag dump, 1 guy headed my way, you cant own that, me I'm legal, him no way, me I have papers but you might want to contact your supervisor, him I'm the chief of police, ok try the city attorney or I can google the number for ATF in Nashville and you can speak to a field agent, turned away and left........wasn't even trying to be a di<k either...2 points

Author of one of my all time favorite books, Unintended Consequences. This is a sad day for those of us in the gun culture. https://www.facebook.com/100002421818050/posts/5018748048215873/?d=n1 point

Just FYI since you are a fairly new member but it is against forum rules to make comments like this on someone else’s for sale post. If you do not like or agree with the price say it in a pm to the op or just move on to the next post.1 point

TGO AutoModerator Reply PLEASE READ THIS TO AVOID BEING SCAMMED Be very wary of people who contact you privately to offer an item for sale. Every single time someone has been scammed via a Want To Buy ad on TGO, the scammer has done it privately. Force them out into the open so that the other members and moderators can help make sure they pass the sniff test. Use the Buyer/Seller Feedback feature to research who you are dealing with. Negative feedback should inspire caution. Come back and leave feedback for each other after the transaction is complete. Your experience will help others. NEVER, EVER agree to use an electronic form of payment to buy or sell a gun!! None of them, that we are aware of, will protect you against fraud in a firearms transaction. They all have terms of service FORBIDDING the use of their services to buy/sell guns. DON'T DO IT. Beautiful shotgun. I have a 1964 A5 that belonged to my wife's grandfather. It is heavily used but still a great shooter, no where near as pretty as yours though. Wish I could justify this one. GLWS!1 point

I was in the army for over 20 years and now work for the army at fort campbell and tell you just off campbell there is a good collection of army surplus stores with a ton of cool stuff, campbell has over 30,000 soldiers there with a high turn over rate (getting out/moving to a different post etc...) they get alot of cool stuff now, I get new boots for like 25.00, state of the art sleep systems for 75.00, of which the army pays over 500.00 for, etc.... make a trip up to clarksville hit a couple of the army stores a good large alice ruck with frame and all for like 60.00, I get all my hunting stuff at these places1 point

I have had to show my form 4 copy to law enforcement. Most of the time they won't even notice a SBR, but when they hear machine gun fire they start asking questions. Of the 2 times I showed it, I don't think the local officer even knew what he was looking at, but it satisfied them both times. Well one of them still tried to give me trouble, saying civilians can't own a machine gun, even with paperwork, but I told him to call his supervisor and he straightened it out. It's really not that big of hassle to own class 3 stuff, although some would say that it can add a aggravating factor if you ever use your class 3 firearm in self defense. I never carry a class 3 firearm as my primary self defense weapon.1 point

It's still in a friend's shop in Nebraska. I'll post a "work in progress" photo when I figure out how to do that. Definitely of the finished product. It's nothing rare or particularly unique. Just a 65 base coupe, 200 6cyl, Phoenician Yellow with a Palomino interior. But it's a fun car.1 point

From a student in class from their Facebook page.... We judge things on the experience vs. the expectation. Most things are evaluated on the expectation that we set beforehand. Personally, I have never left one of Randy's lessons feeling that the instruction was exactly like I thought it would be. It's always been much more. A safe and informative curriculum sets the bar high. Has my experience with Harris Combative Strategies met my expectation? Every. Single. Time.1 point

I've got a couple of pump action 22 rifles. One of my prized possessions is a bolt action shotgun. It was the first shotgun I ever shot. Eventually I inherited it from my Grandfather. It's probably a $200 shotgun to most people but to me it's priceless.1 point

In general exposed rim cartridges don't feed or load all that well in box style magazines. Traditional cartridges' and shotgun shells from the period of transition from percussion fired weapons (powder, patch, ball) were typically straight wall and with an exposed rim. These feed just fine from a tube magazine and a lift mechanism or could be easily extracted/ejected from a break action. As higher power "modern" cartridges came into play things shifted. Now there was a concern that the modern jacketed and point tip bullets were not safe in a tube magazine however with their traditionally rebated rims they would load and feed in a box style magazine. The spring loaded box magazine lends itself to bolt action as the bolt will compress the magazine spring when closed and then strip that next round from the magazine when cycled. You can do this with a pump action but there would need to be a rotational aspect designed into the action, such as a cam, to rotate the bolt and lock the lugs into the barrel/extension since you do not have the manual rotation of the as you would in a bolt action.1 point

Such a shame. The man was an icon for the 2nd Amendment. Every gun owner should read "Unintended Consequences". Great book. The story is intermixed with actual significant moments in 2A history and helps explain how we got to where we are now.1 point

December 22, 2021 -- Well, another year is rapidly drawing to a close and another is now visible on the horizon. It seems hard to believe that we are here once again, and yet I am sure I say that every year. As I sit here writing this, my house is full of the sound of family enjoying the week of Christmas. My three youngest children are sitting at the kitchen table, decorating cookies with their mom and aunt. Christmas movies are playing on the television across the room just beyond the Christmas tree, but no one is really watching them. They are playing mostly to add their music and sounds to the atmosphere, and in case someone happens to look up so that more scenes of Christmas will fill their view. It is not lost on me that I am beyond fortunate to have this scene playing out in my house tonight. My two oldest kids, separated from this bunch by a legitimate 18-years, are grown and long since moved out. By any account, I should be in the empty nest phase of life, but God saw fit to keep me in the game a bit longer. I am forever in His debt for it. Some of you can undoubtedly relate to the notion of a quieter and calmer home this Christmas. Some of you will be lucky to see brief glimpses of your homes this Christmas in between hours spent away at work. Some of you will be reading this from some location elsewhere on this planet, quite possibly in a place that our government has put you to do a job that you can't even talk about. Wherever Christmas and the New Year find you, I hope that you will find some comfort in this statement: You may be solitary, but you are not alone. We, here at TGO, are with you. And you may be busy serving in some other capacity, but you aren't forgotten. I am thinking of you and I know that others on TGO will be joining me in that. I hope that each of you enjoy Christmas in the best way possible. I hope that you find peace, relaxation, restoration and hope in it. And if you can't... drop me a line and let me know. I am glad to lend a virtual ear to you and it would be my honor to tell you that you really aren't alone. Merry Christmas, folks. Thanks for making TGO the best place on the Internet to talk about everything under the sun. And sometimes about guns. --David1 point
