  1. I bought the gun new in 2015, and have run about 50 rounds through it since then. It is in very good shape. It has a few marks on it, but nothing out of the ordinary. Asking $1350 OBO.

  5. Comes with: 2 24 rd Cerakoted mags 117 rd mag Apex Trigger Surefire X300 LV Stipple Blown Deadline Cerakote Original case The FN 509® Tactical, an extension of the FN 509 family, is based on FN’s submission pistol that the U.S. Army tested for its Modular Handgun Trials, but includes the significant improvements to the design that were implemented in the FN 509. The pistol features the company’s U.S Patent No. 10/352,654 Low-Profile Optics Mounting System™ that enables the platform to accept more than ten commercially-available miniature red dot (MRD) optics that co-witness with the suppressor-height night sights and remain adaptable to future optics releases with no requirement of direct milling of the slide. The slide cap, for use when not shooting with an optic, has raised sight wings that protect iron sight alignment if the pistol is dropped or jostled, and provides a textured ramp for racking the slide against a belt loop, pant pocket or boot. An FN-signature 4.5-inch, cold hammer-forged, stainless-steel barrel with target crown, ½” x 28 threads that accept the bulk of 9mm suppressors available and thread cap with integrated O-ring to prevent loosening during use complete the top end. Lastly, the 24-round magazines, nearly identical in length to the pistol’s slide, maximize ammunition capacity without impacting carry convenience.

  6. Rereading this thread I'd like to make a correction. I let it slide when it was written because, well Bob being Bob, I didn't want to start an argument. But he's gone, so now I'll correct his mistake. S&W K-frame .357s should not be fired a lot with full magnum loads using bullets of 125 grains or lighter. Bobsguns post was wrong. This is easy enough to research. Its all over the web. The issue is that small flat area on the bottom of the barrel stub which is required for the yoke to clear. It turns out that this is a weak spot and over time and enough full house .357 light loads it can cause excessive wear on the forcing cone and possibly cause a crack in this area of the barrel. Its not something that happens overnight. It does take time and many rounds fired. Occasional use is fine. Some years ago I sent a Model 19 back to S&W to correct an unrelated problem. In checking the gun S&W found excessive wear in the forcing cone. They just went ahead and set back the barrel and recut the forcing cone under warranty at no cost to me. Its enough of an issue that S&W checks this on any K-frame .357 that comes through their shop.

  9. Thank you for your kind welcome, sir. I may have been unkind with my comment on Damned Yankees (some of the younger folk may not realize there’s a difference between the two), and, several of the wiser and much, much more seasoned members did well to clarify the point with their replies…and it dawns on me that I should too. I apologize if I was rude, and to generalize an entire population of people by a single term is never a good idea, yet I have done so. I ask forgiveness and beg your pardon, sir. What I should have said, and will go on the record now to say, is that I’m ok with Damned Yankees (not Yankees) who wish to come to Tennessee (or anywhere below Mason-Dixon), so long as they leave their Godless, unchivalrous, pompous, greed driven, hate fueled, anti-American, liberal, sissified, dishonest, and now “woke” way of life/beliefs behind them when they come here, because that ain’t how it’s done here, as you have undoubtedly come to appreciate in your quarter-century plus of living here, sir. That is what I should have said in the first place, and again, I’m only qualified to speak on my feelings, but I can attest right here that I personally have spoken with many, many Tennesseans who feel the exact same way. So many that I’m starting to get confused, really, as to why these Damned Yankees “flee” their despotic home states, where they see the oppressive result of the aforementioned ideals, only to come here to for sanctuary and immediately start trying to push the same garbage on all of us! If this is what they want then they should all go the hell back to where they came from! Unless, of course, they’re coming for the express purpose of making Tennessee just like where they came from, that is. Sir, all ranting aside, I thank you for the nice welcome, I really do. I am truly sorry if I was offensive and admittedly I made a mistake by generalizing. I didn’t come here to make enemies, and I don’t feel for a moment that you see me this way at all, but rather I consider you a friend because you have caused me to better myself, if that makes any sense. I should be more clear with what I write and I’m going to strive to do better. Going back to your post, I agree with you 100% and appreciate you looking to “keep the place as you found it” by moving into a home instead of building. I do understand that people have to put a roof over their head somehow, but I like the ideas that you have on the issue. I believe it to be greed, plain and simple. If there aren’t houses to accommodate all the people pouring into our state, then send them the heck on elsewhere! Seriously, here where I live in Sevierville, you go to the pharmacy to get your medicine and end up standing in line for an hour only to get told they ‘ran out’ of your medicine and to come back tomorrow. You go to the grocery store and all your favorite things have been bought up by someone else. I have the unfortunate circumstance of now living in a neighborhood that has an HOA because a bunch of the imports got together and voted one in! They see my neighborhood as a retirement community because they’ve retired and moved down here…but many of us are still trying to raise a family and they seem to have forgotten all about how hard that can be on your finances. I’m really starting to lose my patience over it. I’m waiting for them to try and tell me to take down the Stars and Bars….that ain’t going to happen.

  10. It is true that for the vast majority of investors the best chance for long term success is the classic buy and hold. That is, and always has been, an absolute winner over very long term time frames. The reason why the vast majority can't trade short term is because they trade on greed, excitement, fear, and panic. Emotions have no room in intelligent investing, which is as cool and calm as a shooter in a 1000 yard competition. Been trading for 45 years. Lost a lot, but won more. You cannot go into a trade thinking -- "Oh my god I hope this goes up!" or "Come on, don't let this sucker dip down now!" There is NO ROOM FOR EMOTION. If you can lose the emotional element, and can just be analytical and objective, you're on a good start. If you are experienced enough to have emotions of ice, and good analytical skills, game on! If you can't do these things, (and you probably can't and shouldn't,) then go buy a mutual fund or index ETF and hang on. And when the SHTF, back up the truck and load up like crazy. But that's probably when you'll sell.......oh yikes

This is how you'd find it on the desktop version of the site, by clicking per the numbers: Explanation I realized that while I had set up streams for New Classified Ads and My Classified Ads, there wasn't one set up that would easily show you all of the ads regardless of whether you had read them yet or not. This just adds that functionality to the site.

  13. From Wikipedia. His Medal Of Honor citation is incredible. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_E._Stumpf For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. SSG Stumpf distinguished himself while serving as a squad leader of the 3d Platoon, Company C, on a search and destroy mission. As SSG Stumpf's company approached a village, it encountered a North Vietnamese rifle company occupying a well fortified bunker complex. During the initial contact, 3 men from his squad fell wounded in front of a hostile machinegun emplacement. The enemy's heavy volume of fire prevented the unit from moving to the aid of the injured men, but SSG Stumpf left his secure position in a deep trench and ran through the barrage of incoming rounds to reach his wounded comrades. He picked up 1 of the men and carried him back to the safety of the trench. Twice more SSG Stumpf dashed forward while the enemy turned automatic weapons and machineguns upon him, yet he managed to rescue the remaining 2 wounded squad members. He then organized his squad and led an assault against several enemy bunkers from which continuously heavy fire was being received. He and his squad successfully eliminated 2 of the bunker positions, but one to the front of the advancing platoon remained a serious threat. Arming himself with extra hand grenades, SSG Stumpf ran over open ground, through a volley of fire directed at him by a determined enemy, toward the machinegun position. As he reached the bunker, he threw a hand grenade through the aperture. It was immediately returned by the occupants, forcing SSG Stumpf to take cover. Undaunted, he pulled the pins on 2 more grenades, held them for a few seconds after activation, then hurled them into the position, this time successfully destroying the emplacement. With the elimination of this key position, his unit was able to assault and overrun the enemy. SSG Stumpf's relentless spirit of aggressiveness, intrepidity, and ultimate concern for the lives of his men, are in the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the U.S. Army.[1]

  15. Today I made my first online forum posting, despite being 45 years of age. I’ve read many a post, but have never participated before. To be honest, these things intimidate the fool out of me. I’ve got no idea what many of these tabs are about, except for bold and font. I fear that I’ll never have anything slick to post…it’ll probably just be vanilla for me, and that’s just fine really. I just hope I stick with it long enough to make some new friends and, hopefully, zero enemies! I guess I should introduce myself now. I’ve lived in East Tennessee my entire life, born and raised, and have a family myself - a 16yr old son and 14yr old daughter. Lord, be with me, please. I grew up in Walland mainly, and have also lived in Maryville, Seymour, Townsend, Rockwood, Alcoa, Louisville, and Oakdale. I call Sevierville home now, but, sadly, I don’t see myself staying here much longer due to the massive influx of Damned Yankees. If I sound a bit prejudiced, well, it’s because I am! Please don’t misunderstand me…I’m all for people fleeing government overreach and tyrannical tax rates, nor do I mind sharing the beauty of the ‘Greenest State in the Land of the Free’, what I take issue with is that our way of life is being belittled, stepped on, and ultimately destroyed. Goodness I could go on and on but I guess I had better not wear out my welcome in my first day. I’m sorry, I guess I’m just getting old and those precious values that I used to take for granted would always be here are disappearing and I just hate to see it because it’s one of the things that made being a Tennessean so dang special and now, like all good things, I see it starting to fade and it scares me in a way. Let me try this one more time. My name is Jeff, I’m a 45 year old man. I really enjoy firearms, heck I love them if I’m honest. I own many, but not too many that I can’t take each one apart, clean it, check it, and store it within a few weeks I’d say. I’m not partial to any one manufacturer, I do prefer American but own several that ain’t. I really enjoy the fit and finish as much as I do making them go bang…I find that to be more and more the case the older I get. I’ve worked with metals and machinery since my first job, just over 30yr ago now, and I’m certain that has a lot to do with it. I’m a Christian, although terribly backslidden, but I hope I’m able to clear that up one of these days…I’m just very thankful that He is merciful….and longsuffering! Looking forward to it….hope I haven’t already blown it!

  18. Went to the Lafayette show today. Smaller more intimate show. Lots of collector knives and guns with absolutely no bug zapper salespersons. proportionate supply of ammo available at new normal pricing including 30-30 and 357 mag. (sorry, these are the two I'm looking for. Didn't notice anything else other than lots of 22) didn't buy any though. Gun prices were a tad high for most but there were some high quality arms available. Enjoyed myself immensely. Hope ammo availability holds because I'm out of primers.

  27. Here’s a snake story for ya. Several years back I was doing a roof on a house that was basically in the middle of a field. The old plywood was being all replaced and every sheet we pulled out had hidden under it on top of the insulation at least 3-4 snake skins. There were hundreds of skins up there. We told the owner about it and he said they have never seen a snake in the house but to please not tell his wife about what we found. Haha. I guess all those field snakes were using the attic as their headquarters. He did say they had also never seen a rodent in the house either.

  29. Assuming the gun fits properly in the holster you're done, you can now add the photographer's tape... also known as gaffer's tape. It's used to tape photographic lights to tripods or furniture WITHOUT leaving residue. This holster will look AWFUL if you use duct tape because the glue residue begins to show at all the seams and it will pick up lint. You can buy gaffer's tape on Amazon for about $18. In the photo below, I made two mistakes. I tore the tape instead of cutting it, which left a more noticeable line. That piece on the barrel end of the holster should have been underneath so I would have been invisible instead of on top. EDITED TO ADD: I think I'll use 3M carbon fiber vinyl wrap next time. It should look more professional. Here is the end result. Notice how I trimmed the plastic so it does NOT cover the mag release button. I've done it with the mag release covered and pressure against the holster can cause the mag button to release. Only 0.7 ounces! Very hard to see. Note that these are tight fitting pants and I'm a small guy. It would be invisible in baggy pants.

  38. Summary Members are now allowed to change their screen name once every 90 days and can do so as soon as Day-1 of their membership. You can find the option to do this in your Account Settings page. Explanation Members have always been able to change their screen names, but previously they had to have been a member for at least 90-Days or have made a certian number of posts before they could. This sounded great (to me) in theory but in practice it was also very short-sighted (of me). It is not rare for a new member to register for an account and then wish they had not used their real name for their screen name, or realized that they made a typographical error in their screen name. This change fixes that problem and allows folks one name change immediately, if they so desire, but also keeps it from being an unending game of "Who's Who?"

  39. I almost bought a Judge a couple of times over the years and could never go through with the purchase after I had it in my hands, it is ugly and I didn't like the feel. What I ended up buying from a fellow TGO member was a S&W Governor. It does the Judge think of .410 and .45 long Colt but also shoots .45acp in moon clips. Looks nice and most of my friends refer to it as my hand canon. I do the occasional plinking usually with .45acp and carpenter bee skeet with .410. Don't need it but wanted it and it solved the itch.

  40. ^^ This ^^ I bought a Hex receiver 1934 Tula 91/30 and an M44 in 2013 just before the prices started going nuts. In the $100-150 range and a couple of spam cans of milsurp ammo when that was cheap too, they're fun plinkers, but for the $400+ range we see now, no way. As a WW2/historic collectible, that's different, but as a shooter, the current price doesn't match the experience.

  43. It is something that may superficially appear to be a duck, but does not meet the statutory definition of a duck. Allowing unelected bureaucrats to change and reinterpret the law to suit their whims does not result in more freedom for anyone. It was a bad precedent set with the bumpstock ban and exactly what those of us who decried it at the time warned everyone about. This is incremental groundwork that’s being laid that can eventually allow for the reclassification of modern semiauto rifles as machine guns. The ATF is going to keep pushing as far as they can unless they are stopped.

  45. Glock does a lot of things right. The MOS optics system isn't one of them, in my opinion. The screws that hold the plate to the gun are generally fine, but the plate itself is so thin that the optics screw doesn't have much material to thread into. This frequently causes problems when people use screws provided by their optics manufacturer, rather than the Glock provided screws, which can cause the screw to bottom-out and then arch the mounting plate. This leads to screw / plate failure. If you run an MOS Glock, you want an optics plate from Forward Control Design (1st choice) or CHPWS (2nd choice). These both have proven track records and are better than the Glock OEM plates. @Defender if you're going to stick with an RMR or a sight that uses the RMR footprint, don't sleep on that Zev slide I posted earlier. That is a new product from them, at a cheaper price point than I've seen before, and will likely sell out. Zev produces things in batches and once they're sold out, they stay that way few a while. If you want an optic mounting system that is both strong and flexible to allow you to change it up some as time passes or needs change, look at the Agency AOS slides like I am using on my G19 now. Omaha Outdoors had the best price on the Syndicate S2 slide that I am using but it was still around $500-ish.
