  4. I carry a Glock 26 with 15-round mag and an X-grip. Why not carry my Glock 19? It's simple. I shoot the G26 better (point and shoot) than the G19. That's likely because I've fired so many more rounds through the G26 that it's more natural to handle. But I've had other people tell me the same thing; they shoot the G26 better than the G19. I do carry a spare 17-round mag on me at all times... also with an X-grip added. The benefit of being able to "pickup" any double stack Glock 9mm mag is nice in thought, but I seriously doubt I'd ever need it. While it may be trivial, I'd bet the shorter slide of the G26 is marginally faster on the draw. I use leather OWB holsters wet molded to fit each individual firearm. I'm a firm believer in as long as it's reliable and gets the job done, carry whatever you shoot best. As a side note, at longer ranges (well beyond point and shoot ranges) I do better with the IWI Masada (and it's green dot Holosun) than the G26 or G19. That's even after putting a Leupold DeltaPoint Micro red dot on the G26.

  6. I'm with Garufa on this one. If I see a black snake, chicken snake, or one of the many other non-poisonous versions, I leave 'em be as they do more good than bad. In TN there are only three poisonous snakes to be found. The copperhead, water-moccasin and rattler. Now, crossing paths with one of them is a different matter. I know to respect them as my little brother was bit by a copper head when only three years old, while we were playing Army. (This was before the days of video games and computers for any of the younger folks, ha). Anyway, I do believe it is wise to have a thorough understanding of the wildlife we have around here and what is safe and what is dangerous. I feel much safer in the deep woods of Tennessee than I do "strollin' through da hood."

  7. Hello. I’m interested in a Smith & Wesson model 65 stainless .357 revolver with a three inch barrel. Prefer the shrouded ejector rod found on the Lady Smith 65, but will purchase both. Only interested in prelock models with a 3” barrel. I’m in middle Tennessee. Please PM me the details if you have or know of one for sale. Thank you for your time.

  8. Admittedly this is a bit of a rant. Before I get going with this question I want to expressly say: This is not a knock whatsoever if these products or concepts work for you. I'd like to start a discussion on grip extensions in 2022 Question: How many of you run small pistols with grip extensions, grip sleeves and pinky extensions etc? Follow up: If you had the option for a slightly higher capacity flush fit model from day one and got to hold them side by side in the store, would you have picked the smaller model? Examples: P365, Hellcat vs P365XL, P365X, Hellcat Pro Opinion: In 2022 I think grip sleeve extensions make otherwise awesome expensive looking guns, look and feel cheap. Also, If you can't get your whole hand on it, you're at a disadvantage with current options. I know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm happy that in this day and age that we have many stock options out there now to fit different needs. The question is, why design the 10+1 variant first with weird grip sleeve solutions, just to release the normal version after the fact? Wondering if we'll get a Shield Plus Plus or a More Max 9 in the future. All of the guns in question look cool to me with the flush fit form factor and conversely look retrofitted and cheap with their grip sleeves. It's similar to having a direct mount optic vs some gnarly bolt on metal adapter/mounting plate. Example: If you carry this mag setup, wouldn't you rather have this? Same overall footprint, same magazine. The Angles: When I see pictures on social media, retail sites and print magazines of these guns that have grip extensions built into the design, I can't help but notice some obvious, make it look better with the angle photography. Which, hey I get it, make it look as appealing as possible. It reminds me of profile pictures on dating apps. Examples: Reality: Notice the overall footprints and aesthetic when look at it straight on. (pictures of these angles were harder for me to find online.) Function: I understand the idea of having a small magazine in the gun for concealment and a higher capacity backup reload. If this works for you, I completely get it, but do you actually carry an extra full size reload with you daily? Wouldn't it make sense to upgrade to a compact if you thought your chances of running into that much trouble were high? Background: I like the Glock 26/27 form factor. I suspect that the the G26 influences grip sleeve designs on OEMs to this day. The G26 was ahead of its time IMHO at 10+1 with minimal printing. This is the only firearm I've shot in the last 10 years that I thought made sense to me to have the pinky dangling. I shoot these guns well and feel right at home because I shoot mid and full size Glocks regularly. The G26/27 are also cross compatible with most of the parts from their larger counterparts, this is a huge advantage in a pinch. Example: G26 fits G19/G17/G34 Holsters. (This cross compatibility with the larger counterparts is not the case for the modern micros.) Having said that, if I was going to do something like this to myself, I'd rather just run a G19 100% of the time. To each his own. Just food for thought. Rant complete.

Folks, I am now a Black class Benchmade dealer so if you want one let me know, my two favorites are the AFO2 and the Automatic Adamas if you are considering any of these knives the only short coming I see with them is their factory edges, which I will correct and make scary sharp if you buy one through me my prices are MAP minimum advertised prices that include a $35 sharpening if you would like it for all non serrated blades and just in case any of you did not know, as of 2014 automatic knives are perfectly legal to carry in our great state

  10. This is the original Daniel Defense DDM4. Made and roll-marked in Savannah, GA where DD started. Pretty much a safe queen despite its age. I had to show up at at least 1 class with my sexy new DD, right? Less than 2K rounds for sure I don't have the fixed rear or that broomhandle VFG. It DOES have a Troy folding rear sight, BCM Gunfighter (medium) CH, a BCM VFG, and an AimPoint PRO. Everything else is original. If you've seen the LAV torture test video - this is the identical rifle. Chattanooga(ish) deal. $1200 rifle only $1450 w/Aimpoint Can discuss complete set-up as pictured also.

  11. I'm sure some of you are familiar with Selco Bagovic, who survived the war in Bosnia Herzegovina in the 1990's. I went back to re-read some of what he wrote about those 3 years living under siege, and found a particularly sobering post of his. Just how close are we to the dark forces of societal chaos? You can judge for yourself: Daisy Luther from The Organic Prepper also contacted Selco for an interview. We highlight a couple of the Q&As and you can go to her site if you’d like to read the rest (she focuses on politics and the US situation). Q: What parallels do you see with events in the US and Bosnia before the SHTF? US and Yugoslavia (in 1990) on first look do not have anything in common because people are going to say, “The USA cannot have anything similar to any socialistic system.” This is true but only on first look. Yugoslavia had somewhere around 20-22 million citizens, six republics (similar to states in the US), 3-4 main religions, and many national groups (ethnicity). The official state policy was to build Yugoslavian “nationality” (from the end of WW1) and through different ways that effort was successful until the 90s. We were “something big, united through differences with a strong connection to make something big.” And then those differences were used to make chaos. In the late 80s and beginning of the 90s (when democracy came) the problems started and ended up in series of wars and cases of complete collapse. Things that I experienced in my case prior to SHTF, and things that you might recognize: Things that make differences between people are more and more problematic (race, religion, political opinion). Polarization is getting obviously stronger. People want to come to your country, but they do not want to “assimilate” or contribute to the greater good. They want to preserve their way of life which is often absolutely contradictory to the way that your country (society) works. The political way of solving those problems often fails, because, in essence, those problems are hard to solve in a democratic way (in the spirit of democracy). Your freedoms are “shrinking” as a result of that. Calls for “radical solutions“ for the problems are stronger and stronger. The media is absolutely working a dirty job, and it is hard to find out what is the truth anymore. Suddenly people and events from history are “brought back” so people can judge and argue about it, to write history again, to build myths sometimes. Q: Anything else to add? I have seen many people killed, a lot of women and children too, civilians. A huge number of people suffered, were hungry and cold and were terrified through that period. But I can count on one hand the dead or hungry politicians in that time. Things were good for them through that period. Some of them ended up even richer. A lot of them are still powerful in the same or different parties, and are still talking about “their people” or “ causes” or “fear from others”. It is the way it works.

  12. Sold - This kit works great, I just never use it. I've had it for 4 or so years and it has been shot once, and has less than 100 rounds through it. Works with any 5.56/.223 AR15 Upper. You remove the bolt carrier group and charging handle, replace with theirs, and utilize the .22lr magazine. I am asking $125 as I am seeing these on line for $200ish. Located just West of Nashville in Bellevue. thank you, Mason

  16. This has been about 10 years in the making. I just finished a book about the Federal Reserve that explains a lot of their moves in understandable English, laying out how the entire economy was transformed by the zero interest rate policy and quantative easing programs that became standard procedure when they were developed as emergency measures. Highly recommend it for anyone who finds these matters relevant or fascinating. https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/The-Lords-of-Easy-Money/Christopher-Leonard/9781982166632

  17. I loosened up my allocations over the last few years since I have plenty of cash flow that should not change to keep us in food, heat and ammo. When I first retired 17 years ago I settled into a 50:50 asset allocation and that has done me well through several dips. After our cash flow increased because of SS at 70 and required withdrawals from 401K I let equities drift up with my new rules, sell off some equities when they go above 60% and start buying when it drops below 50%. I'm not a market timer but I went above 60% very close to the peak and sold off enough equity to get to about 58%. It is always a good feeling when you manage to sell at the peak, I have managed to do that a few times, I have also bought at the peak a few times. I'm very much a buy and hold investor and do it all on my own no advisor taking a cut. I believe in mutual funds and haven't own individual stocks for over 20 years. My advise is have a plan, stick to it, and don't panic.

  21. Mine is the Broomhandle Mauser...why? I grew up with a Dad that was constantly gun trading and one of my duties was to clean the guns. I saw heaps of firearms come and go but for some reason I was intrigued by the Broomhandle Mausers. I saw 45s, I saw Lugers, but the Broomhandle had this sort of mysticism to it. I now own two and I'm a happy puppy.

  23. Not just long term growth by itself...this was fueled by the Fed sprinkling the market with PCP in the form of all their programs. Savings became punitive, and capital jumped at any asset with a growth story to tell. Now we're going to see how skewed from reality some of that was. This is like coming home from a good night at a steakhouse. Yes, you ate well, and it was tasty, but there's only so much your body can handle. The excess needs to be expelled or converted to waste and processed. A healthy limit is retained, and you move on for the next meal. Proper markets resemble nature like that. But there's no long term answer other than to buy and hold like you mention. Good times and bad will come, just have to stick to it.

  25. My EDC is a 365XL, with a 12 round mag with pinkie extension and a Hogue grip sleeve. I also have several 15 round mags as backups. I have big hands and the grip sleeve helps me get a better grip. I like form factor and looks play into things (my XL is a Spectre) but its not ALL about looks. Like you said, to each his own. I notice on some of the Facebook 365 pages I'm on, there are many folks on there who flat out belittle folks who don't have their exact same configuration...I say, whether i get it or not, if you like it and it works for you, go for it.

  26. Oh my gosh...... I had forgotten about the Lorcin until you mentioned it here. I had one in the late 80's that had to be the worst pistol on the planet. It would fire every third or fourth try, on a good day. Best way to use this pistol was to throw it at the threat and then run away, ha. Nice paperweight, though.

  28. We’ve had several years of back to back record growth in the stock market. It would be foolish to expect that to continue forever. I’m still buying. If you don’t stay in, inflation will eat you alive. It’s a sale right now! I’ll leave the bonds to somebody else.

  30. 6.8x43 (Remington 6.8 SPC) is kinda close? It still doesn't exceed the 55,000-psi rating that SAAMI had released at the time. The .277 Fury is a 6.8x51. I would not recommend interchanging the two lol

  31. I used to carry a S&W 19 2 1/2" and really liked it - however, the values on them got to the point where I began to worry about scratching it and otherwise affecting its condition. Alas, it is more of a safe queen these days, but I do like to take it to the range still.

  33. Good time to refresh this thread for folks to do an azimuth check with the market in a bit of a malaise. Anyone looking for a port in the storm? If you loved you some Netflix, probably don't as much after yesterday. I'm still holding onto my mutual funds for the long term plan, and am down somewhere between 13-15% YTD, with a loss for a 12 month period. The stock hits I'm brushing off as air coming out of the balloon, and it ain't done yet with debt not cheap for fueling growth. Gotta happen so we can take better steps forward. It's my bond fund I keep cussing at the losses for. I use that to hold money for a down payment on a house (fading dream thanks to rate hikes) and my next car fund. I'm losing real value, and inflation is junk punching. And my poor friends who have (had) decent money in an ARK fund...oof. Feel for you guys, this fall from grace is rough. It's amazing to me that people are still letting Cathie Wood manage capital after things she's said lately. Looking more and more like it's hangover time, and not party time anymore.

  35. I think the hardest part is the wait. I'm at 364 days on my first suppressor as of today, but that was a paper submission. I've been seeing e-form submissions come back in less than 10 days sometimes, which prompted me to buy another suppressor today using e-forms and race them to see which one gets approved first. Patience is a virtue I guess? lol

  36. Fellas I just can’t explain to y’all just how much I’ve enjoyed checking in throughout today, Resurrection Sunday, and reading these great replies…and, speaking as someone who spent two decades reading posts but never speaking, I know that there will have been many others who will have received edification simply by reading what’s been posted by you others! I sincerely thank you as I have truly received a rich, rich blessing from you; I needed it so very badly. Bless y’all! Those fellers who left Scripture for us, I thank you especially as God clearly told us that His Word never returns to Him null and void (excuse my paraphrasing), and that’s something that literally has my arm hairs standing straight up right now; that’s POWER, brothers! I honestly hope that everyone had a great and wonderful Easter, and, though we go back to the old salt mine tomorrow, it’s my genuine desire that the joy of this glorious day energizes us all as we labor on through the week. I truly feel like I’m going to end up with some good friends for life here among my like-minded fellow Tennesseans…y’all have a great week!

  39. Why is anybody surprised? ATF is nothing more than the legal arm of gun control. The real problem isn't the average field agent, its upper management. Many of which are brown nosers or political appointees. They have a clear agenda. To destroy the 2nd amendment. and disarm the American people. They "interpret" laws according to the political winds and personal gain. They aren't law enforcement, they're politicians of the worst sort. Lies, deception and propaganda are the tools of their trade. Nothing is going to change until we get a real pro-gun President with the balls to go in and clean house. I ain't holding my breath waiting for that to happen.

  41. This sounds like a great one for folks to consider attending as the warmer months approach. Most folks put aside their full-size guns and start thinking about smaller carry options during the Spring and Summer. Probably a really good refresher for people who just want a structured way to knock the seasonal rust off of their skills and get tuned up!

  42. As I was told a sap is legal to own,but not legal to use as they have been outlawed for Police/Security. The Baton class will only cover you for a collapsible or straight baton but not Mondock with handle. You have to have a baton permit to carry one as a civilian even with a gun permit.

  43. I save the gambling for sports games as a form of entertainment. When investing for my intermediate future and retirement, I use index funds. Trying to pick stocks is too much of a guess and time consumer when it's not your full-time job...and even then it's not an easy thing. I would seriously advise anyone looking to pick stocks to do it with disposable income, and leave the retirement planing to an index or target date fund.

  45. Amen to that! Certainly a much smaller risk of encountering gang violence there, although I have encountered quite a bit of crack in the deep woods…just about every time I have to hike behind my Uncle Fatty. I’ve begged him to wear suspenders. I grew up on a farm over in Morgan County, and, although it was seriously lacking in the aesthetics department, I found that carrying around a simple over/under .22/.410 combo very handy as a critter gun. I’m not going to profess this will dispatch a wild boar, but it’ll make enough noise to discourage it from hanging around for very long. Ya know, it takes all kinds to make the world go ‘round. I see good points everywhere I look on this forum. Y’all’s some very good folk and I’m just happy to be amongst my fellow Tennesseans. I really can’t think of anywhere I’d rather be!
