1/4" thick 1084 carbon steel. OAL 15 1/2" and Blade length of 10". D handle is made from 5/32" thick 1084 carbon steel. Handle is made from ash I antiqued and added grip portion. Brass accent, copper on spine and pommel were also antiqued for the aged look. . Even the copper rivets are home made. Sheath is custom order from( 1911alltheway) here on the forum. It is spectacular and made to match the knife perfectly. There will not be a repeat of this knife anytime soon. I'm buried to my eyeballs in home maintenance projects and the missus goes in for surgery this early summer that requires a long recovery time and requires my attention. So there will be few offering this summer.4 points

No, a firearm will have only a single part declared as the serialized part and all previously determined firearms will stand as is. The lower receiver on an AR, the upper on an FAL or 91. A new design brought to market will have to have the ATF declare what is to be the serialized part. That was unclear in the summary, but laid out very clearly in the text of the rules.3 points

I haven't paid any attention to the Clubs feature of TGO until now. Now my wife and I are preparing to move from Nashville to Chattanooga (we bought a house there and are closing in December). Neither one of us knows a single person in Chattanooga; we chose it purely on the basis of the proximity of the river and mountains and because the city had a nice feel whenever we've visited. So, anyone want to give me the lowdown there? What are the best gun stores? Places to shoot? Any good gun shows in the area? I've met some fine TGO folks in the Nashville area over the years and hope to make some connections with good people in our new hometown. Cheers, Whisper1 point

I'm thinking of building a DMR style 5.56 AR platform. Currently my only 5.56 is a 16" andI am on the fence about either going to 18" or all the way to 20". This would be more of a range gun than anything practical/hunting (but who knows) so weight and length is not an issue at the moment. I have done some research on muzzle velocity and the 20 is superior. Additionally, I know the good lord Eugene designed the 5.56 to be fired from a 20" barrel. However, it is much easier to find manufacturers with inventory in the 18" barrels than 20" barrels. Which leads me to wonder if there is an appreciable difference between the two for a low-no speed floperator. My usual go to manufacture is Aero Precision and they do carry the 20". I just wanted to pick the mind of more educated/informed shooters before I blindly commit to 20" just because that's the way of Stoner.1 point

I'm a MAC Tools franchise owner in Jefferson City. If you need something MAC, please let me know. I can drop ship anything you need or you can pick up from me along my route which basically runs from Jefferson City to Bulls Gap through Morristown along 11. Reach out to me here via DM, text me at 8six5 three37 2zerofour6, or email LeeTheToolGuy@gmail dot com If you have a MAC distributor please continue to deal with him, I will not poach. MAC does offer traditional financing for large purchases at (sometimes) competetive rates, but it's third-party commercial so they range up to 23.99% I'm happy to process an application but have ZERO control or input into rates/terms. Last... Check out my drawing in "General Chat", I'm giving away a pair of gloves. I plan a monthly drawing, hopefully business will improve over time and the prize will get better:) UPDATE: Want to trade-in your unloved/unneeded firearm? Let's make a deal...1 point

I picked this up from @Croakerhouck (thanks Aaron). I switched to the off-set adjustable stock and added a small low-mounted red-dot. Can’t wait to get it out to do some plinking.1 point

I purchased 6 pistol targets and the handy plate rack hardware so I can hang the plates side by side on my range. I believe their 6" plates with hangers that slide on a 2X4 with attachments to slide on the 2X for legs to hold them up. Always wanted some. These are spring mounted plates so it suppose to hold down bullet splatter. Should be a nice addition to my back yard range. These plates came from Shoot Steel and suppose to take a steady diet of low mag handguns up to 44 mag. The 460 and 500 cal are out. Been shooting a bit as of late. Edited to add; Hope it quits raining so I can get them on the range. Raining like a cow _____ on a flat rock here this morning. Pop Pop1 point

The .45 ACP USG model is an awesome gun! I've got one and I love it. Im not in the market for another one, but seems like a good price. One could buy this set, then sell the 9mm and still be ahead! GLWS!1 point

That entrepreneurial initiative is exactly what drove the creation of the 80% market. There has been multiple fairly large and profitable business ventures based almost exclusively on 80% receivers. Back when I started machining AR lowers from raw forgings (what came to be called 20% receivers) there were no readily available 80% receivers and certainly no easy jigs that would tooling kits that would let you finish the work with a common wood working trim router. Then you get into the Polymer 80 craze. No one fronted the money for the tooling to produce those if they did not expect a significant profit on the back end. The 80% market exploded and it was made "easy" for the common handy person to complete one. The entrepreneurs created the reality that the ATF is fighting back against now. The same thing is happening with Form 1 suppressor kits. There was a legal avenue to produce and register your own suppressor. Entrepreneurs saw a completely legal window of opportunity to create products that while incomplete/non functioning could be completed by the end user easily. It is really no surprise that a percentage (debatable how large) did not care about the legalities of ATF form 1 submissions and purchased their products with zero intention of every following those laws. It is also no surprise that some people see and 80% receiver and related parts kits as a way to produce firearms for profit or for illegal markets regardless of the laws.1 point

I'm not sure if you have any NFA items already or not, but I was very hesitant to get one and be on the "radar" of the ATF. Once I did my first one, I never looked back and typically always have something pending. It isn't hard to file a form 1 and would suggest getting a trust if you do. I keep a 5320.20 filed for several items and for my typical locations I travel, that way no matter where I go, I can take something NFA with me. I've never been asked to see paper work by anyone and never hassled. Most of the time they draw attention to themselves and people ask a lot of questions about them, I try to use that time to teach people that suppressors and machine guns are not illegal. I would SBR them and never look back.1 point

Hey Brothers, I am new to the forum and don’t know why I haven’t joined before. My first name is Marty, I have been a law enforcement Deputy Sheriff since 1989. I am currently the Captain over our C.I.D. Division. The Sheriff’s Office where I have served is in N/W Tenn. I am 52 years young and am an avid Deer hunter but I do warm the trigger finger during early squirrel and dove seasons. I do enjoy this great creation the My Lord and Savior created for us to enjoy. I like the camaraderie during these early hunts and the older I get, the more I enjoy that time. I hope to be able to share and learn from you guys and maybe I can help someone as well. Look forward to the time spent with you.1 point

I was also a bit skeptical of their numbers. I do wonder how long it will be before someone blames this on Trump due to the precedent he supposedly set with the bump stock fiasco. This administration has already demonstrated that it doesn’t care about a precedent. Issue an edict and maybe the courts will overturn it in a few months, maybe not.1 point

When I travel with a sbr, I'll fill out an ATF Form 5320.20. It's good for up to a year and I usually stay in the same motel. They are accustomed to us walking through the lobby with machineguns, ARs, and 50/75 lbs of ammo each. It takes about a month to get back and is pretty much a rubber stamp. I have yet to hear of anyone that has ever gotten into trouble for not doing this though. The second thing is to have copies of your form 4 or 1. A pic on your phone is good. I have never been asked for them. Not once in 25 years. You are only required to produce them for an atf officer, but I wouldn't refuse a police officer. They can hold you until the atf shows up. " In a few days". If you forget them, they can look them up pretty fast. I've had several encounters with different agencies over the years and I've never so much as had to produce a driver's license. Every cop I've ever dealt with has been great. I have yet to get one to put me in handcuffs so my buddy can get a pic. They're a bit weird about that.1 point

I just learned about this on another forum I visit. It appears that two bills have been introduced in the State Legislature that would classify Enhanced Handgun Permit Holders as Law Enforcement Officers. As I understand it, the purpose is to remove some of the restrictions on where we can carry. Basically, EHP holders would be able to carry anywhere LE are allowed. While I like that idea, there also appears to be much confusion about it as well. Honestly I just don't see this as passing. Can anybody provide more info? Just what do these bills really mean? Permit Holders to be LEO1 point

get a pistol grip, better ergonomics, while I don't have a M4, I do have a spas and it's similar.1 point

Mine has it. I’ve grown to prefer it. I could maybe speculate that I like it because it allows me to have a similar grip amongst the platforms I spend the most time shooting. Whatever the case, it’s comfortable and seems like it belongs there1 point

Found a cheap source - McMaster Carr. In case anyone needs this in the future, here's a resource on what parts to purchase:1 point

Hey Whisper, I just joined the forum, but I live in Chattanooga. Moved here about 7 years ago from Middle TN. To answer your specific questions: Chattanooga Gun Stores in my opinion are ok, but no great ones. I thought the stores in Mid TN were a lot better. There are several to choose from, but in my experience if you want something specific at prices that won't destroy your wallet, you gotta go box store or online. I've got a guy super close to me that does transfers pretty cheap, so a lot of times I go online. Actual stores: Carter Shooting Supplies in Harrison Shooter's Supply in Hixson (FYI, one of their affiliated trainers spoke to local media against Constitutional Carry) Southland Shooter's Supply in East Ridge Shooter's Depot in Ringgold, GA (They had a TN store, but unfortunately it burned) Cleveland Shooting Sports Box stores: Bass Pro Shops in East Ridge, Sportsman's Warehouse (my personal favorite), and a couple of Academy's. There are several places to shoot, but many of the best ones are about an hour or so from downtown. Shooter's Supply gun store (25 yard indoor range, must shoot there ammo) Rifle and Pistol ok Carter Shooting Supplies (25 yard indoor range, must shoot their targets) Rifle and Pistol ok Shooter's Depot in Ringgold (don't know much about this one, I've never shot there) Cleveland Shooting Sports (25 yard indoor range haven't shot here either, but a friend said it was a good range) Pistol only TWRA Range in Prentice Cooper Chattanooga Rifle Club (membership only, I've heard there is a waiting list, but I personally haven't check them out) Montlake Sportsmen's Club Soddy Daisy (almost joined, looks like a well run club) Dead Zero Shooting Park Spencer, TN (Hour fifteen from downtown, very nice ranges, out to 1k yards with electronic targets) Mountain Top Gun and Archery, McMinville, TN (Hour fifteen from downtown). This is where I shoot. $10 day, no memberships. Pistol range and covered rifle range out to 500 yards. Most of their business if from hosting local trainers, so check their FB page to make sure the range isn't booked. When it is, you generally have it to yourself and you can get out on their rifle range and do some shooting and moving. Gun Shows - very mediocre compared to what I've been to before The Shriners host a gun show several times per year Camp Jordan in East Ridge shows are probably once a quarter. I think they are RK affiliated. Ft. Oglethorpe gun show (to be fair, I've never been to this one) Welcome to the Scenic City! I'm always looking to meet up with fellow people of the gun, so if you have any other questions about the area, or want to grab a bite to eat some time, let me know. Sempratus1 point
