  3. Well that's interesting... I log on from work (using my phone's hot spot - shhh) and there's a banner ad for a podcast! Cool! Podcasts are the way I consume 99% of my audio. I hear this guy named "David" talking about his 'gun forum' for Tennessee gun owners, etc. Cool! That's the first episode my iPhone is playing for me, #73, so no feedback yet. Nice to hear a voice to go with the avatar (which reminds me, I need to add one...).

  5. This was on sale at RK last week, so I ordered one - should be in tomorrow... Hoping I'm not disappointed. My last Heritage had to go back to the factory and be replaced. Replacement is still off a bit on the front site, but going to straighten it myself this time...

  9. Like new Henry rifle. Selling with a couple boxes of ammo. To the best of my knowledge, the rifle has never been fired. I inherited the rifle from my father-in-law. He didn't shoot, just collect. $900, FTF only. I live in middle TN and will travel as far Jackson and Cookeville to meet half way.

  10. Remington Model 24 takedown auto loader made in 1928 on the Browning patent that Remington licensed. I was tempted to refinish the stock and reblue the receiver and barrel, but advice here on TGO was definite that I shouldn’t ruin the collector value. So it is completely original. The rifle is rust-free, the stock and fore grip are intact with no visible splits or cracks, but has wear and expected dark areas from gun oil. The bore is bright without pitting, and rifling is reasonably strong. I took it to the range several weeks ago and the sights are dead-on. The only concern is that when a round is fired, the empty case ejects, but gets caught before it fully exits the receiver- the 22lr rounds used were Aguila standard velocity, so more powerful rounds may cycle. I didn’t disassemble the receiver to check further- my skills are limited there. $350

  13. GrandTrino and 1911alltheway out did themselves this time. I asked GT to make me a Bowie Knife w/ an Antler Handle and Carbon Steel, and he knocked it out of the park for sure. It's a full 19" overall and a 12" blade and brass guard. 1911alltheway made the sheath for it and he out did himself on it also. He inlayed the front with genuine Alligator Skin, I asked him to make it like a holster instead of a dangler carry, well he came up with an idea to make it a Swivel style that snaps in place to hold vertical. These two gentleman are true craftsman at what they do. Here's the pics.

  18. I sprung for an exmark radius 4 years ago when we moved to the house we're in now where I mow just over 3 flat acres. While it's not a full bore commercial unit, the x-series has many of the features found on the Lazer z's. The suspension seat is fantastic! The fabricated deck is also commercial grade and cuts fantastic in both wet and dry conditions. Get the best hydros you can afford. The FX series kawi is rated for a service life of roughly 1250 to 1500 hours I believe, I clock about 50 hours per season. I wouldn't be afraid of a slightly rolling terrain, I just wouldn't mow it while it's wet.

  19. If you are just wanting “shade-tree” you might try Brownell’s Aluma-Hyde II. It comes in a spray can and will air cure. I’m not sure the prep needed. But if it goes south, you can just sand-blast it off and Cerekote. You would have to sand blast the parts before Cerekoting anyway.

  27. Ammoseek reports that .45acp is the 9th most searched caliber. Ahead of .380acp, .38spl, 6.5 Creedmore, and .357Mag among others. They show lots of new brass-cased FMJ ammo at $.47 to $.50 per round in case lots. I still shoot it and use it in my carry gun. Bigger holes are always a good idea.

  29. Proof of passing this course also gets you lower insurance rates with many carriers. You chose a beautiful weekend to do it. I took it in August, and it was friggin HOT standing around that parking lot waiting on your turn to ride.

  31. I think the ones who reload are, and increasingly so. Lots of reloading types had large pistol primers sitting around doing nothing. Now that small pistol primers don't exist, people are getting their .45s out and using those large primers.

  32. If you let a camel put his nose in your tent, you will soon have a camel in your tent. We have given government so much power they are now creating their own power. The constitution is the most powerful document ever written and it must be preserved. It seems every day we give some of it away or it is simply walked on. It’s your land, post it and allow who you want on it. Period!

  33. I've never really understood the whole hi-cap thing either. I do own a number of handguns that hold a lot of ammo. But for most of my life my usual EDCs have held 5 to 8 rounds. I've never had a problem with that.

  34. So where does the capacity/round carry debate end? We have 20/21 round mags for most pistols these days, with aftermarket offerings of 30+ and eventhe 50 round AR-type mags that weigh a ton loaded. So picture the old fat man, i.e. me, going out with a pistol with 20 rounds on his belt, and 2 or more mag carriers on the opposite side. I'm now weighted down with 6-10 pounds of additional mass. That's rough on the old back. Could asways go to bandoliers and sling pouches I guess. I remember the days when I/we all felt ok with one extra mag!
