  1. Well, after contacting them again and a bit of back and forth, worked out a deal on the KLX300 and got it home this evening. I am looking forward to getting a little seat time on it. Don't have a lot of experience on the smaller off road oriented bikes, but should be fun to learn. Now I have my 90/10 bike and a 10/90 bike. One thing is for sure, I can't see how anyone would want to ride one of these little things on a large highway.

  2. You do realize he is not longer in office, right? Are we going to continue to blame everything bad that happens on him in perpetuity, or will there eventually be an expiration date?

  3. I did. Twice. I noticed you left out this part: OPEC+ is hoping that nations outside of the group, including the U.S., Canada and Norway, will also cut back on production in an effort to shore up prices. For his part, Trump has noted that market forces would naturally curb output stateside, after previously stopping short of saying the U.S. would scale back production. So again, how much was US oil production reduced as a result of this agreement?

  4. I bought a complete 57M reciever off GB a number of months ago and a Marlin 917V SS barrel off Ebay for this project. I wanted to set it up with Marlin box mags since I at some point picked up a 15 rd Marlin box mag from a discount grab box some where. I modifyed an AK magazine catch and turned the Bull barrel down to sporter weight with a recrown since Marlin had terribly counter sunk the bore mouth center on a bore that was about .030 out of center to the OD. It should never have left the factory like that. Anyway, I looked for a stock for a long time only to by one off GB that was beat to snot on one side. I resold that one. I ended up with a Austin & Haleck 50 cal BP stock and figured it would make a nice stock for the 57M. I put the wide aluminum trigger in and cut off the safety tip since the stock originally had a thumb safety, I made a new safety control lever and hooked that up. It still locks the lever on safe. Found a Redfield base with a fold down peep on Ebay so I integrated that with a Globe multi post front target sight I had. The target was shot at 53 yards and let me say.... that 2" red dot is not very vivid in the lolly pop post! The high hit and far right were my sight in shots before I tweaked the peep to the left a tad. Usually I sand bag front and rear but I just rested the forend on a 6x6 so there is room for tightening this 17 up with a scope and sand bags. Looking at the group, it looks like the accuracy I get out of my Scoped 57M 22mag! You cant beat the little 17HMR for pin point targeting. Cant wait to find a nice 2-10 type power scope for the franken gun. Still gotta fill that bolt cut...... at some point.

  6. This is in my opinion, the worst handling of a bill by a subcommittee in recent memory. I was sitting in the room, and the committee members were all engaged in other things besides the business at hand. Some person came in with a sheave of papers evidently requiring signatures at the onset of the committee being called to order and as the chairman calls the first bill on the calendar the intend member to second the bill to life is busy signing documents instead of paying attention. Over 7 minutes from start to finish, with the bill being gaveled dead... Thirty-seven (37) States allow their non -criminal Citizens to bear long arms without a permit, another two (2) allow open carry of loaded long guns with a permit. Seventy-eight per cent (78%) of the States allow this Right to be honored in their boundaries, to bear arms for the defense of State and person. Yet, even though we pay the Legal Department to write bills via our taxes, we can not even get a discussion as to why the Patron State of Shooting Stuff is not counted in that number... https://youtu.be/jxTNxi3KVFw This bill is supposed to be re-calendared for next Tuesday, the LAST committee hearing for the year, the members must needs morph to candidates and they can not grift money whilst in session... If you care anything about joining the majority of other State that trust their People, write and call, the names have been posted onthe site numerous times, Civil Justice Subcommittee.

  9. I'm in West Knoxville. We lost power around 0600. Ran the generator awhile, made coffee and charged my phone. Judging from the snow on the deck and railings we got around 4 inches and it's still snowing. Very wet snow. Beautiful though. It's weird as I just cut the grass and did some yard work yesterday. Coming from South Mississippi/ New Orleans area I appreciate the variability of the seasons...just not so much daily seasonal change LOL Just glad I don't have to be out in it. Might be a good day to do some reloading.

  11. Made a couple of big (for me) gun purchases lately so figure I'll throw this one out here to see if anyone wants it more than I would like to keep it. Beretta 92 Volunteer edition. I bought this gun new and it is unfired since I had it. (I assume they still factory test fire them) It has been on a display stand in my living room, handled and the slide racked maybe a dozen times since I've had it. Beautiful gun with the special grips and engraving. Plenty of info on them via the Google so won't go into the specs or details. There is a minor imperfection near the takedown lever. Tried to get a picture of it the best I could. Not sure what it is but was there from the factory. (4th picture) Feel free to PM me with any questions. $1,000 takes her home. SPM on 2/4

  12. Greetings and salutations, Somehow despite all of my Google Fu, I've never managed to find this forum until now. Live in Chattanooga, born here but moved away and came back a little over 7 years, but family has been in this area for generations. Raised in MO, came to Nashville for college and lived in Mid TN (Spring Hill specifically) from about 2003 until I got tired of all the insane growth and couldn't resist the mountains calling me home. I'm an AR-15 nerd and can probably bore just about anyone to tears talking about them. Recently got certified as an AR-15 armorer and I'm happy to share my opinions or knowledge. Finally got off the bench and started taking training classes in 2020 and I'm hooked. Working to improve my pistol shooting now. If you catch me with my pistol, you've got decent odds, but I'm hell on wheels if I get to my trusty Bravo Company Manufacturing AR .

  13. Relisting. I sold the heavy Surefire light and swapped it out for Magpul furniture. Much better ergonomics. Location is near Murfreesboro. Please PM me with questions. I don’t respond to “call me” posts/messages. Please be a TN resident and willing to flash ID when we meet. No trades- trying to get the collection down to a specific number. Bought this from another member in December. I rationalized it because the Vang Comp work is worth $800 alone, (that’s a hyperlink) not to mention the 590A1 is no longer being produced. Two range trips, about 50 rounds through it, shoots tight groups, more than reasonable recoil for 00 buck. Vang Comp claims 12” pie plate accuracy at 25 yards with buck. I didn’t get to test that claim, but it does pattern absurdly tight. This was apparently sold as new in this configuration, so it’s a “factory” Vang Comp gun. Original owner said us was a long-time low-use safe queen and I believe he paid around $1600 for it. Upgrades: Vang Comp fully tuned action Vang Comp Stock Vang Comp "back bore barrel process" (modifies to a very tight internal choke without tubes- lengthens the forcing cone) + forward barrel porting for recoil control Front hooded tactical night sight (looks like it takes any AR sight post) Rear ghost ring sight Rear Picatinny optic rail Large dome head safety button Stainless steel tube follower Heavy duty tube spring All steel mag “breacher” (or melee weapon- it’s really sharp) extension tube. 6+1 capacity with Wolf 00, but I suspect it’s 7+1 with slightly shorter shells. It’s sooo close Magpul Furniture Velcro side saddle with 2 saddles $880 FIRM, you come to me (Live rounds not included) That’s lint/dust on the ports in the third picture. No wear.

  15. Savage 510 Bolt handgun chambered in 308 with a Burris 3-12x32 handgun scope. Comes with 108 rounds or so. $650 May be open to trades plus cash. I do like revolvers. These were built off of the Savage Model 110 actions. Very accurate handgun. Im in Shelbyville but can meet within a reasonable drive. 615-556-9696. This is a right hand gun but left hand eject. That way you can keep your dominant hand on the grip. It ejects from the right side.

  16. Haven't been there but I do know of a couple of guys who legitimately guide pig hunts for wild pigs. I would rather be hunting free range game than something in a fence but I do understand the challenges associated with hunting pigs in Tennessee as that's what I spend 90% of my hunting time doing. I'd be glad to pass some info along to you if interested.

  29. Gas Turbines are what TVA is hanging their hat on. Another new bank is going in at Johnsonville. That will bring them up to 30 turbines I believe. John Sevier is now a Gas Turbine Plant as well, as is Allen. That's not all. Several large Substations have Gas Turbines installed at them as well. Though I think TVA took most of those over after the Enron debacle. Lot of privately owned Solar Farms are going in all over the valley now as well. They do and will sell power to TVA. TVA is down to only 4 or 5 Coal fire plants now, with Bull Run scheduled to go offline in 2025. The rumor I've heard is Cumberland may be next.

  31. If you are the type that keeps your rides for an extended number of years, it would be wise to buy a bike "model" that has high sale production numbers. Back in the 70's - 80's Honda was by far the largest warehouse parts distribution network in the US out of the 3 Jap manufacturers. I dont know who has the top sales figures for dual sport enduro's these days but thats one reason why Honda was a tad higher priced back then. My first bike for the road was a 73 Suzuki TS185. Back then, a 16 year old could get a bike license before a car endorsement. Every Suzuki dirt rider was proud as hell riding a zuki since Roger Decosta was invincible on the world Motocross champions. Then Honda bought him into the Honda camp and he put Honda in the Champion circle time and time again. Much of the Honda motocross track suspension designs were fleshed out with Decosta finger prints on the designs threw the 80's. Those were the days when you could tel a guy running Bardohl 2 stroke mix when he shot past you on the track. It was dirt perfume! A great spectators sport for sure. I had a Honda XL350 once that was a torquey thumper. Once you get used to a 350 and up torque generator that can launch you up a steep grade with a tickle of the throttle, It would be tough to buy a smaller displacement bike. But thats where weight and fuel injection comes in on modern bikes. Weight is a Huge, Huge part of the equation in all around performance and economy. Thats the conundrum. A 250 will usually all ways be lighter since the frame isnt going to be stressed with THAT much power making it more ideal for a new rider. Those would be the specs I would look at if ever buying a new Enduro. Thats what a "Dual Sport" used to be called. Its about weight and torque specs for dirt or some measure it HP per lb if its a bike mostly based on pavement for that kind of performance. Same principals for anything with wheels screwed on.

  36. I hunt with all kinda different rifles, if I buy something new, well it goes to the field. I have blooded most of my rifles, mostly one of three 35 Remingtons, then a couple 30-30's, a sporterized 1903 30-06, 444 Marlin, 308 Marlin Express, a couple different 223's , a Rossi 357, heck one year I took a young one with a 12 ga., and then there's the handguns, a couple different 44 mags, a 41 mag, and even once with 44 cal. BP revolver. Still got a few to try and use before I pass. RP

  42. You are 100% correct, but I will say there are some people who basically walk around begging for an ass whipping. The fact that an altercation is almost guaranteed to send both parties to jail has had the unfortunate side effect of making people way to comfortable with being bullies and douchebags on a very regular basis with little fear of repercussions.
