I shot my first rifle match yesterday and it was the 600 yard benchrest match at MSSA outside of Memphis. Previous to this I have shot at 200 yards once and 300 yards once for a total of about 20 rounds. I was quite nervous but the folks are friendly and quite reassuring. I really didn't expect to do well. I was setup on the line with guys running 10-15k dollars worth of fancy equipment. And I'm running an 800 dollar rifle with a 600 dollar scope off a bipod and squeeze bag with factory ammo. After the first two targets, I was leading the factory class with a decent margin. Unfortunately, on my fourth and final target, I crossfired on my last two rounds which resulted in a zero score target. Even with that, I managed to still be in the running for second until the last couple of rounds. My competitor finally found the 10 ring and I missed second place by 6 points. With only three factory shooters though, I still had a podium finish. It was a blast. When I got the targets back and started running the numbers, I would have finished the day with a 181-1x if I hadn't crossfired. It would have been good enough for first place in factory and I think it would have been the second highest score of the day across all classes. It was a great time. I loved it. I really want to do it again but my schedule likely isn't going to allow me to make the next monthly match. Get out and shoot folks. Its a great time. This was my best target of the day. That group measured 3.65" at 600 yards. The math shows that to be a .608 MOA group. I didn't even know that I was capable of shooting that small, much less my equipment that everyone says is crap. It's especially surprising that I was able to do that with a 25 power scope and every other scope on the line was at least 40 power. And they had rifles that are generally considered better than mine. Also, I've never cleaned this rifle. All of the things that people tell me I'm wrong about worked in my favor for at least that one day/target.6 points

While I am primarily a collector of S&W revolvers. I do like Colt's too. I stumbled across this one at Bass Pro of all places. Hemmed and hawed over it for three days, but in the end I couldn't resist the temptation. Probably paid to much, but I'll let my heirs worry about that. Colt Police Positive 4th Issue. 1979 This is my seventh Colt revolver. here's the whole herd.5 points

There's no such thing as too much power, only not enough traction. But seriously, it's all in the connection between your brain and right hand. I've seen people start out on 1000cc sport bikes and do just fine. I've seen people pile in on a 125 during the MSF course. It takes all kinds. My XT gets 75-80 mpg. It uses the same amount of gas in a week as my SUV does in a day. I have a hitch hauler and it's handy. Though if Tellico is your destination and that CRF is what you want, just ride it there. And yeah, splashing in the puddles is the fun part....5 points

Had a couple Harleys then went to dual sports. I really like that type of riding. Started out on a TW200. That thing was a billy goat. It would go anywhere! I went up to a 650 BMW, but too heavy for my confidence off road, so I sold it and bought a new CRF Rally 250. Great weight, and will cruise the highway fast enough for me. Yep, we need a TGO ride.5 points

$200/barrel would translate to around $5.80/gallon from what I'm seeing. I'm more thankful than ever that I work from home but I feel for everyone else. Even if we don't end up in an all out war with Russia it's really concerning how things are trending in the world. My wife and I both think we're going to see some really disturbing things in our lifetime.4 points

As stupid high as fuel prices are right now, I'm willing to pay more if the US will quit buying Russian oil altogether. Every dime that goes to Russia from energy sales is helping to finance the murder of innocent Ukrainians right now. And I would sure like to see the US pumping as much oil as possible to offset that a bit.4 points

He will not get paid. I bet that gets relished in a week.3 points

As a kid, I had a Yamaha DT 175 Enduro and later a DT 360 Enduro. Those were great bikes. I wish you could still find them in riding condition for a decent price.3 points

The last time gas was this high the Republicans were in charge. R's and D's are just the same clowns in different rings of the circus. They aren't looking out for you, me, or us. They are looking out for whatever the agenda of the week is.2 points

My dad’s cousin got killed on one and my in-laws both died on one back in 2013, so my riding days are probably in the past. I don’t fault anybody for riding, but I do tell every biker I know to please be careful and try to be smart.2 points

Absolutely beautiful. That's a great collection. Look forward to more picts! p.s. I did chuckle a bit with the S & W snubby positioned right on top of the "Colt" logo.2 points

i had a Brother once that said if he ever dies, he hopes it would be on his motorbike. He got his wish in 1976. I saw him buy the farm and I can tell you, at least on a bike, he didn't suffer much as far as I could tell. The crotch rockets are IMO, way, way too easy to get in trouble with. More than likely the guy lost his head on one of those. Then there are the hog riders that can never ever....ever forget, they dont go around turns any faster than Granny on her way to Church. Iv been toying around with selling my bike latly. Between a not so great back and so little R&R time.... My wife says no, but IDK, Its a shame I dont ride so much any more. I did some neat mods to it tho. Can't complain on the 76 mpg with 50 hp in a 429 lb bike. Fuel injection IS the way to go on these scooters. Never scraped a peg or stand on this puppy.2 points

Both the news and those law enforcement agencies, who have taken an oath to defend your rights under the constitution, are MISREPRESENTING or LYING about what this bill does. There is a law already on the books in Tennessee TCA 39-17-1350, which is the subject of this bill, that addresses one issue and that is the capacity of OFF DUTY law enforcement officers to carry in certain gun free zones. Keep in mind, Tennessee's supreme court has said that OFF DUTY law enforcement are not some category of super citizen, they are simply citizens like everyone else They have the right to defend their lives and they have arrest powers (if they opt to use them) BUT citizens also have statutory arrest powers in Tennessee! So, this bill says that those civilians who have the ENHANCED PERMIT would be entitled to the same exceptions relative to gun free zones as are OFF DUTY officers. The bill DOES NOT make citizens law enforcement officers, off duty officers or government officials. All it does is provide that if an off duty officer OFF DUTY can carry in a gun free zone then so can an enhanced permit holder. This is just another example of the elitism of these law enforcement administrators - a mentality that says government officials and government agents are BETTER than other citizens even when they are off duty or in some instances retired. This is a bill that requires a big push from the almost 750,000 permit holders in the state! Also, if you have ever donated money to a sheriff, to the sheriff's association or the chiefs of police association or even the FOP --- STOP IT!!!! They don't support your constitutional rights even after taking an oath to do so. And, as legislators stated on the record last year in committee hearings - they have at least a 28 year history of fighting to keep you from exercising your 2nd Amendment rights in Tennessee.2 points

Up for consideration is this fine Walther Q5 MATCH SF 9MM! You'd be hard pressed to find a more balanced firearm for competition or any other shooting but I just never got around to using it much. This gun has less than 200 rounds fired, comes with 3 total 15 round magazines 1250.001 point

2008 Obummer was in office. Regular Unleaded was over $4.00 a gallon locally. I was a temp where I worked, making $9.00 hr. I was mad as hell but, I think with all the crap going on now, I might be madder.1 point

I noticed during the last go’round that $4 was the tipping point to where traffic magically dropped by at least half. That was several years back. I suspect it’ll take $5 this time to achieve the same.1 point

I had both of those, and a DT-400, too, along with a ton of others. It's hard to beat a 175cc two-stroke "enduro" bike.1 point

Nice shooting! For a while now I have meant to go embarrass myself with my Bergara at the next F-class match there. Is that the new Ruger target rifle? Also, did this get you 600 certified?1 point

I love it . Really accurate and fun to hunt with. Kicks like a mule on the range but while hunting I don't feel a thing1 point

One thing you have do is qualify your question also. If you're hunting for one hog, most anything works. If you're eradication hunting, grandpa's old 30-30 will be less than ideal. Guys get all kinds of contradictory information because the people they are asking hunt hogs different.1 point

If I were in your situation I would sell or trade the G45 you have and buy a G45 MOS. You can get one on GunBroker for a little over $600. You get a factory cut for less than a local cut job.1 point

I just got an email from Glockstore this morning and they are giving discounts on slide milling and Cerakoting. Still very expensive though at $441 for the cut and $135 for the cerakote. Would nearly be as cheap to sell your current G45 and buy a new MOS for that money. The code for the discount is Kote10 if you're interested.1 point

I’ve been giggling like a twelve year old girl while reading the post since 23 February. I had Bob on ignore. It seemed that he felt compelled to comment on every post. In his short time here the guy racked up over a thousand post. He had an answer for everything. TGO David’s anus post knocked me out of my seat.1 point

Around here you can find it at Home Depot and some auto parts stores. Luriplate is the grease many guys put in the boot of outboard motors as it’s waterproof. Some guys use Mobil 1 grease.1 point
