Grinding down the screw a little fixed the issues. Ran a bunch of mags through he G48 today and not one FTE.3 points

I made it back out to do some longer range shooting today. Started at 50 yards and had no problems hitting the 8" gong. I then moved back to 81 yards. After I tweaked the zero on the Holosun I had no problem hitting the gong. I think this is going to be a great hunting handgun.3 points

OPSEC. Don't advertise what you have. I know that we all do it to one degree or another here on the forum, but "out in the world" we need to keep a lid on it as much as possible.3 points

My wife was taken aback by a certain phrase in the local lingo. She asked a co-worker if she would do a certain task for her. "I don't care to do that," was the reply. This came off as rude to my Texas-raised wife. She interpreted the response as, "Go blank yourself." She was relieved to learn that it really meant, "It won't bother me to do that for you."2 points

I recently picked up a G34 that was set up with a red dot. It was the first time I ever fired a handgun with a red dot site. Very hard to describe how well I like it. Very fast target acquisition. I actually feel like I am cheating when I shoot it. Been wondering about all my other handguns and how I can get the same set up on them.2 points

I own 3 GT knives, the first one I bought probably 5 years ago, and the most recent maybe 3 years ago. Each one that I bought was more finally crafted than the previous, but these are absolutely beautiful. I use at least one or more nearly daily. May be time to pick up another soon.2 points

With last year’s effective denial of any more Russian ammo imports and the current situation, no one is going to be buying any new Russian ammo very, very soon.2 points

So I finally had some time to go to the range this weekend. I needed to sight in the Holosun on my G48. This is the first time I have shot this gun since I bought it. Right off the bat I started having extraction problems. I would have 3-5 failure to extract per magazine. Only had one brand of 9mm with me but did try several different magazines but nothing helped. I was able to shoot it enough to get the Holosun zeroed. Now I just have to figure out the extraction issue before I carry it. So I get home and take slide off. I start inspecting the extractor to see if it is chipped or broken. As I am rubbing it with my finger I notice it is loose. I can move it. Stripped my other G48 to compare it to and as expected the extractor is nice and tight. So time to completely disassemble the slide. Pull the back plate off and take out the firing pin. Start to pull the extractor rod out but it will not come out. The spring pulls off the end of the rod and just the nipple the spring attaches to is sticking out of the channel. Gently grip it with needle nose pliers but it will not come out. As I am sitting there staring at it I realize that the right screw for the Holosun is directly over this channel. I back the screw out a couple of turns and the rods falls right out like it is supposed to. So it looks like the screw was not allowing the extractor to move freely. I checked and I did not have any shorter screws. So I got my dremel out and very carefully started grinding down the screw. Now the screw is in nice and tight and does not effect the movement of the extractor. Hopefully this fixes my problem. Now I just have to get back to the range and shoot it some more.1 point

Source: Hellcat® Pro OSP™ 9mm Handgun - Springfield Armory (springfield-armory.com) Basically, Springfield is giving us a Hellcat that takes the 15-round magazine without the need for a grip-extension on the mag, a slightly longer slide, and more beef in the right places. It's got the capacity of a Glock 19 with the width of a Hellcat and is optics-ready right out of the gate. It seems to have the same optics footprint as the regular Hellcat OSP, meaning it natively takes the HEX Wasp, JP Enterprises JPoint and Shield RMSc optics. If I am correct about the optics footprint, it also works with the Holosun 507K adapter plate that CHPWS makes. That adapter plate is very thin and just negates the fact that the Holosun 507K doesn't have holes for the rear recoil lugs on the Hellcat. Easy peasy. Reviews that I've seen for the new Hellcat Pro make it look really promising. I could probably be swayed to spend some cash on one, myself. Here's the best review that I've seen yet.1 point

Truth of the matter is that your house should be hard to get into quietly, if you are a hard sleeper then an alarm should be installed to wake you up. Most dogs are good at making a racket too, and have great instincts to know when something isn't right. But sometimes we take our safety for granted, thinking that all the safeguards we put in place are enough, but as this case shows, it isn't all that hard for a determined individual to get in if they really want to. In the end it is up to the homeowner to be the line in the sand, because once someone has it in their head to get into a home, all bets are off.1 point

Been there...done that! Once my day looked so sh---y, I just eased back out of the parking lot before I was seen. I didn't work there much longer. My choice though.1 point

Like Magic and ED, I have had reservations on buying the AMMO brand because of the many negative comments I see on it. However, I heartily applaud Richard Childress and AMMO , Inc for this gesture. In watching several news reports in the link Dirtshooter shared, it seems that individuals are also contacting AMMO Inc and making offers to aid in this shipment. Whether it be in terms of helping pay, or adding additional amounts to the shipment; I think it a fantastic idea. I wish I were in the fiscal shape to make a large contribution myself. Been watching this since day one when it was announced, and hoping to see this done more quickly than the conversations seem to say about the time it's taking to move on the situation. I just hope and pray the wonderful "Government" we have doesn't step in and nix the operation.1 point

I've been keeping my eye out for a well worn but serviceable Model 29. Basically one that has been well cared for but used to the point that it is no longer desirable as a collector/showpiece/safe queen. My intended purpose was a sidearm for pig hunting and I didn't want something that I was going to have to worry about beating up. It seems that such examples are nearly non existent. I'm starting to think that no one actually used those.1 point

I have 6 windows, at my home, that are my weakest points of my home security. They are old style wood frames with storm windows over the outside. They can't be opened, only from inside, because I have nails slid into the mid frames. I have often thought that I would put some kind of metal grills over bottom half of my windows, but figured someone would think I am paranoid, which I "somewhat" am.. The rest of my windows are bedroom windows and are high off the ground so one would need a ladder to enter them. My home is brick, but one could get into the attic and come through the sheet rock overhead pretty easy provided they enter the attic. All my entry points have Security storm door with substantial locks and unbreakable double pane glass. Entry doors are solid core heavy wood with 4 locks per door. Two of the locks can only be opened from the inside, with heavy dead bolt locks keyed on both sides. All door hinges have extra long screws in them so no kick-ins. My hope is one will need to make noise and thereby giving time for us to react if forced by unwanted entry. We live in rural setting. How is your home security?1 point

This has ended up being my kinda go-to, the last few years. Unlike anyone else on here, I do actually own several suitable hunting rifles (gasp in shock all you like commoners, I'm frikkin' LOADED with cash) This little madam started out as an end-of- season-Walmart-sale youth model 700 in .243. I fired it straight off to Jess at JES Reboring & had its tube scooped out to .358 winchester. Picked up a used Brown's Precision Pound'r stock (weighs 14oz, after chopping off the extra length actually) & slapped a recoil pad, scope & some paint on it. It hits like the hand of God when I need it to (220gn Speers at 2540fps) but I can also pick off skwerls with cast pistol bullets down to 800fps if I want to! If, for some ungodly reason, I suddenly became an average pauper like you lot & had to cut down to *gasps in poverty* Just. One. Rifle. This would be the one I'd keep, no question.1 point

One of the nicest if not the nicest long long range rifle you will ever see. It is a surgeon rifle xl, with spuhr scope rings, Schmidt and Bender 5-45x56 PM II High Power. This gun is truly capable of shooting long distance. Honestly it is too much riffle for me. I’m asking 8,700 obo. The gun was over 6500 new. The scope was 6,000. The rings were 440. You can’t find a better setup than this right here. Located in Millington Tn. Also I have 3 mags total for it with about 30 rounds.1 point

I was finally able to get some range time this weekend with pistol. I started off with the 9mm barrel to get the Holosun sighted in. This gun is on the heavier side and with the 9mm there was hardly any recoil. It was a pleasure to shoot. The only issue I was having was FTF. I had several in the first two mags I ran. So i decided to switch magazines. That is when I realized I was using the 7.5 magazine and not the 9mm magazine. Once I started to use the correct magazine I had no issues. Got the holosun sighted in and then switched the barrel and spring over to 7.5FK. I now see why the gun has some weight to it. The 7.5 round is stout. Not as bad as 44 mag but close. Even so the ergonomics of this gun made it very easy to control. Had tp adjust the zero a little on the holosun and then moved the target out to 15 yards. Unfortunately that was the furthest I could shoot yesterday. Here is my first 10 rounds I shot offhand at 15 yards. 8 out of 10 rounds in the 10 ring. Not to bad for these old eyes. I now need to get it outside and shoot some steel plates at 50, 75 and 100 yards to see what it can really do.1 point

I'm with Sidinman, have a safe full of deer rifles and have bloodied them all. As I grow long in the tooth, I am slowly selling off my deer rifles (thank you TGO). Have killed a lot of deer also with my bows, muzzleloaders and handguns. But if I have a favorite deer rifle, it would have to be my Ruger M77 International .243 I bought in my twenties. It was my first deer rifle and the only one I had, because back then, raising a family and carving out a life was a bit tougher for me. 45 years later, and sitting comfortable, I have quite a few, almost to the point I think it's silly. But as I slowly let them go, if and when I get back to one rifle (don't hold your breath) it would be this one. Lots of memories, lots of venison, and a few big racks to boot. It has served me well.1 point

The one I use the most is my Marlin 1895 in .45-70 that has been cut down to 16" and mounted with a scout scope. My second most used one is my Kimber Mountain Ascent in .3081 point
