I'm a week late, but this made my day. I found Bob to be obnoxious. Having a compulsive need to post irregardless of whether or not he actually had anything useful to say, which he usually didn't. Conversations were had with forum members that I talk to outside of TGO about how disruptive and annoying he was. Great riddance!

I appreciate those of you that keep this thread updated with funny and ridiculous content. It's a nice break from the madness in the world right now.

Saw this yesterday. Many people are having their Form 1 suppressors being denied. They're using the very circular language of the NFA to basically deny anyone who intends to build a suppressor legally by saying that "any part that you intend to use to build a suppressor is by definition already a suppressor." ATF has started to clarify with people reaching out about these rejections with the following (basically MASSIVELY moving the goalposts and deciding they're going to get into our business even more): ATF responding to Quietbore (popular Form 1 Kit provider) on the new requirements they've decided they're going to impose (with no new changes in the law by the way... just a whim of the unelected administrators) Quietbore asking "Is form 1 being done away with" (I'm paraphrasing) Quietbore responds to the ATF: ATF responds back to Quietbore - confirming they are going to massively restrict Form 1 legal building of suppressors at home: This new restriction on "no solvent trap or kits" is just BS and part of the slow march towards everything firearm related being regulated by the government. This is a new direction the ATF is trying to take to impede on more rights (related: while they also continue to build out their gun registry *with nearly 1billion records on firearm transactions* by absorbing all the forms FFLs who are closing up shop/going out of business have to send over to them and creating a digital database. Contact our Senators and Representatives to fight back against this crap!

I found this little orphan the other day at a pawn shop while looking for some metric tools. This one is the first polymer pistol that Ruger made. The previous one I showed here was the second generation P95. This one has the squared trigger guard and no light rail. This one is decock-only which is nice. This one has rode in the floor board of a truck or inside tool box but shot very little. Lots of wear on the outside but the innards are almost mint.

suppressors laws are lame, if I was going to break the law I'm drilling a 3rd hole.

So, according to the ATF, every scrap piece of pipe is now a silencer? They have some very ignorant people working there at the ATF.

Just finished my first full year in TN. Loving every minute of it. I relocated from Southern California (Orange County). Some things from the last year : * Most people here are very friendly, really can't complain about the people at all. If they don't like you, they'll tell you . . . which is much better than the fake friendlyness of CA. * Winters are different, but not bad. Yes, it gets colder and it does last longer than OC, but not nearly as bad as some people think (note, I grew up in Connecticut so it was a lot colder) * Summers get more humid, but didn't find it unbearable. * Housing is big. Houses in TN are built different, and honestly, not as well as the SoCal houses. One thing that CA has are a lot of laws and rules around house building, some of them make sense, especially after seeing some of the work done on the houses here. Newer houses are much closer to the CA standards though. * Finding good contractors has been HARD, really HARD. Lots of flaky contractors, really have to be on top of them or they just stop showing up or do crappy work. One guy I have been using and like, said that there aren't so many restrictions so just about anyone with a hammer and some nails claim to be a contractor. So watch out. * Roads, oh man, I40, you have to dodge cars driving like crazy, worry about the truck behind you no further back than 3 feet, and the massive amount of pot holes. Ugh. * If you get away from cities, there is a ton of open land, everywhere. It's beautiful out there, go explore! * If you're from SoCal like me, having 2 or 3 days of rain a year, you're in for a surprise, 2 or 3 days a week more like it. Not bad, but different. When buying a house, make sure you're not going to have a leaky basement or in a flood zone. * So much peace and quiet, it is great. I'm sure there is more, but man, I love being in TN. Just got my Hunting and Fishing license, so I'm ready to go. NOTE: it seems like they are valid from Feb to Feb every year, so if you buy it in September it is only good until February. Now is a really good time to buy yours. $160/year for the all inclusive sportsman (with few exceptions). Now I just need some fishing gear and some more guns.

Got these, both 9mm from my father. He got one of them back in 1950's when painting houses, the guy who's house he was painting couldn't pay him and gave him the gun instead. The other he was at a gas station a few years later and someone walked in with it asking if anyone wanted to buy it. He paid $10. They both shoot like a dream; very accurate. The re-blued one isn't all matching, the other is.

I was at the right place and right time to find this old dinosaur. I am a sucker for the old Ruger P-series pistols. They are fat , big , and clunky but they run forever until the good Lord comes back. This is the P95. It has the fiberglass frame and the frame rails that the slide rides on is the same fiber glass that the frame is made of. So a slide that rides on fiber glass instead of metal . I was always worried about this but no one has had one ever fail or wear down. This one was never fired and is new in the box. Still has the danger/warning sticker on the frame. When I was turning 21 the Ruger P-Series 85 and 89 were coming out and they were my first pistol. They would run no matter what I put in them and when dirty they still never failed. I just thought Id share this with you guys. have a good day !

Thanks for the info. We stayed at a place at Guntersville Lake a couple of years back. Going down a Deliverance type road, we suddenly encountered a “Road Closed” sign. According to Mapquest, it was going to be about a 40 mile trip to detour. Wife asked “What do we do now?” I told her we were going to see just how “closed” it was. First time I ever went 4 wheeling while towing a bass boat. We made it.

Beware, Parsons Branch Road is currently closed with no reopening date posted on the NPS website. The road is typically closed November-March. I've also seen the park service not open it at all certain years. It seems that when they don't have the resources to maintain all of the park roads Parsons Branch is usually the last to get attention. I've taken it many times. Some of those times I even went the right way (it's one way from Cades Cove). It's a great escape path on those days where the traffic is heavier than you anticipated. Just beware it's going to dump you out almost 50 miles from the Cades Cove entrance.

So according to the idiots at BATFE what you have rolling around in your head that you might be thinking of building a suppressor counts as much as having the piece of tubing, a lathe, a drill press, a welder, etc, etc. I would really like to know what they are so intent on banning suppressors for. I don't recall any recent shootings where a suppressor was used, unless I didn't hear that one!! Yes I intended to say hear. LOL

I have a MSR 10 in 308 that is my primary gun. An Aero AR 10 as backup. N-vision nox 35mm scope, Silencerco radius LRF, and a Q suppessor. We keep one spare thermal for scanning and if we have a scope failure. I have seen dropped guns and guys hit the ground hard at night while walking. My buddy usually runs a 338 federal, but he's taking his V7 308 this time.

And who would make that determination? Where is the cutoff, 5.5", 6.5" 8"? It is so arbitrary that they could deem any tube in your possession an unlicensed NFA item if they so chose to.

The .308 cartridge is not compatible with the traditional tube magazine lever gun. Bad idea to have pointed bullets sitting on the primer of the round in front of it. You need a lever gun with a box magazine. The mentioned Browning BLR will work. Also the Savage 99 and Winchester 1895. All of these guns are quite expensive these days. Edit: Just checked and Henry does make a box magazine .308 lever gun. The Long Ranger. MSRP is $1066.

There's a oot fo good advice here, so i won't repeat what's already been said. While I'll applaud your desire to take up reloading, now is a really difficult time due to shortages of almost everything involved. One thing I would ad, you occasionally see people getting out of reloading and selling used equipment, sometimes at good prices. What we advise is that you make a post in the thread asking for a PM from the seller. If they wish to respond, they will. Also, actually engage legitimately with your posting as the moderation staff takes a dim view of junk posts that are obviously just trying to up a post count above the required threshold. We regret the inconvenience, but it the way it is.

I've noticed that codes for running water lines is different, they are often exposed. Gas lines as well. No pylons allowed in CA for the house foundation, must be a full solid foundation (and likely right, due to Earthquake reasons). Just a few things like that. Lots of CA imports heading to TN. As long as they leave their politics behind, that's good. If you're a home owner, prices going up is a good thing.

Picked this one ip last weekend as a base for a custom re-work with Wilson Combat internals, some nice laminate grips, stainless bits, hi-viz style sights and much fitting/smoothing. Nothing fancy, just a RIA Tac Standard but have always wanted a monolithic 1911 and Springfield TRP Operators are just too darned much money.
