I hope you hang around for the long haul, but just a bit of friendly advice: you might consider toning it down a notch or two.6 points

So I finally had some time to go to the range this weekend. I needed to sight in the Holosun on my G48. This is the first time I have shot this gun since I bought it. Right off the bat I started having extraction problems. I would have 3-5 failure to extract per magazine. Only had one brand of 9mm with me but did try several different magazines but nothing helped. I was able to shoot it enough to get the Holosun zeroed. Now I just have to figure out the extraction issue before I carry it. So I get home and take slide off. I start inspecting the extractor to see if it is chipped or broken. As I am rubbing it with my finger I notice it is loose. I can move it. Stripped my other G48 to compare it to and as expected the extractor is nice and tight. So time to completely disassemble the slide. Pull the back plate off and take out the firing pin. Start to pull the extractor rod out but it will not come out. The spring pulls off the end of the rod and just the nipple the spring attaches to is sticking out of the channel. Gently grip it with needle nose pliers but it will not come out. As I am sitting there staring at it I realize that the right screw for the Holosun is directly over this channel. I back the screw out a couple of turns and the rods falls right out like it is supposed to. So it looks like the screw was not allowing the extractor to move freely. I checked and I did not have any shorter screws. So I got my dremel out and very carefully started grinding down the screw. Now the screw is in nice and tight and does not effect the movement of the extractor. Hopefully this fixes my problem. Now I just have to get back to the range and shoot it some more.3 points

First of all, I love Cades Cove. My fav place on the planet. On my bucket list is to find & see Gregory's cave. Supposed to be back of John Oliver's cabin. I've yet to locate it. Next trip, I'm going to see if the Rangers can give me detailed instructions. I'll agree if you go during touring season, be prepared to spend a lot of time sitting still. Made the mistake of riding my motorcycle thru there in summer. Almost roasted. Also, driving the Dragon ain't no fun in a F150.3 points

Bike has been adult owned and responsibility operated. This bike sounds amazing and is fun to ride, I just don't have time to ride anymore. Asking $5500. One of the nicest if not the nicest long long range rifle you will ever see. It is a surgeon rifle xl, with spuhr scope rings, Schmidt and Bender 5-45x56 PM II High Power. This gun is truly capable of shooting long distance. Honestly it is too much riffle for me. I’m asking 8,700 obo. The gun was over 6500 new. The scope was 6,000. The rings were 440. You can’t find a better setup than this right here. Located in Millington Tn. Also I have 3 mags total for it with about 30 rounds.2 points

The entire legislative session will boil down to the next three weeks. If you want to make a change in Tennessee laws, get up and get to the legislature. Moms Demand Action (Soros/Bloomberg) fill the entire committee room every session. One, maybe two Tennesseans in favor of your Rights are there. If you don't show up, do not complain later.2 points

Not really that simple. Country Defense Spending (USD) 2022 Population Per Capita % of GDP (2020 Data) United States $750,000,000,000.00 334805269 $2,240.11 3.7 United Kingdom $55,100,000,000.00 68497907 $804.40 2.2 Germany $50,000,000,000.00 83883596 $596.06 1.4 Russia $48,000,000,000.00 145805947 $329.20 4.3 China $237,000,000,000.00 1448471400 $163.62 1.7 Ukraine $5,400,000,000.00 43192122 $125.02 4.1 The Ukraine spent nearly as much of a percentage of their GDP on Defense spending in 2020 as Russia and more than that of the United States, the UK, Germany, and China. They are simply out scaled. They do not have the resources to compete with a country over 3 times their population, over 9 times their GDP, and significantly more land mass/natural resources. Russian GDP is 1.483 Trillion Ukraine's GDP is 155.6 Billion. Ukraine would have to spend nearly 31% of their GDP to just match what Russia spent last year on military much less build above and beyond. That would have put them second only to the US in per capita spending.2 points

Nope you are not. It really is not that big of a deal. You still have to buy it each year. I guess a lot people were complaining that they would buy a license and not get to use it for a whole year. In reality it is just perception, you are not saving any money.2 points

It is a rolling year now. Good for 12 months from purchase. I have mine set to auto renew through the TWRA App. Makes it easy so I do not have to remember.2 points

I want to be the one making the decision as to who knows I am carrying. Same as I don't flash wads of cash or have my address on the back of my shirt. If I want to stand out, boy do I know how to, but I would rather not. Means I get to avoid dealing with lots of aholes and general complications in my daily life. I am good with that. That's my right. (See what I did there?)1 point

There are IMHO pros and cons to both concealed and open carry which I won't get into. It's a personal choice that should be, as many other things, up to the individual. BUT, are y'all saying that LEO are alarming good people and in poor taste? The OP makes a little sense in that "otherwise good people" have been overly sensitized to citizens carrying sidearms. And wrongly so. I consistently carry concealed so as not to draw attention and maintain situational awareness in hopes of negating any speed disadvantage. but that's just me. I'm not hiding anything per se but it's nobody's business what I'm carrying. Besides, what you see isn't all there is all of the time.1 point

Things are weird. I didn’t take several shots on does in late December down in Georgia because they still had fawns with spots with them.1 point

Its called common courtesy. No reason to alarm otherwise good people just because you want to show off and be the center of attention.1 point

It’s not a big deal for me as a resident - but I really appreciate the full year in states where I buy non-resident permits. Glad to extend that courtesy to people who do that in our state. What I really wish is that we’d extend reciprocity to lifetime sportsman license holders like several states around us do.1 point

What they said..... Cades Cove is all about timing and there's tons of interesting stuff not visible from the road. Rich Mtn Rd is a good way out when the nitwits jam up the road. Tuckaleechee caverns is neat. Fontana dam is neat, as is Calderwood and Cheoah (Fugitve) dam. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheoah_Dam Watch for nitwits on horses in the Citico Creek area. Fantastic views from Shuckstack fire tower, Hooper Bald, and Whig Meadow. Smokin Joe's BBQ, the Steak and Trout place, and Burger Master are really good. Tellico Grains or Tellico Beach drive in, if you get over there.1 point

Tuckaleechee Caverns opens March 1st, if you can get excited about a big hole in the ground. You can also float around on a tube for awhile along the Little River starting Memorial Day weekend. Other than that, keep your head on a swivel for the town's LEO--and you better keep it at or below 45 mph.1 point

9 times out of 10, the chamber is compromised "if" the extractor is in place....and functional. Hi vels will only eject at a faster speed. other than that, no difference. Standard vel should be the choice for plinking as stated. Alot of these old corrosive primed 22 eater's that have alot of use on them simply have over sized chambers. A hi vel can expand the casing to the point where a worn extractor (even a good one) just cant grab whats left of a minimized rim lip. Not so much with a standard vel pressure. Also, these guns have a wide extractor that if the action is slammed into battery ALOT without a cartridge going into battery, the extractor can peen an inward lip at the barrel extractor cut notch inward into the chamber creating a lip that will reduce the expanded cartridge cases ability to slide out of this inward protruded chamber wall. IMO, if the barrel's chamber in not in spec, I would reline it with a Redding liner and have it shooting along with the accuracy of 10/22's. I learned how to refinish guns to match factory cut steel finishes. From what I'v seen over the decades, 90 percent of the reblued guns I'v seen were buggared up abortions of wrong grit, wrong strike direction cut and mostly washed out screw holes, lettering and edges. It would make my stomach churn to see that gun be destroyed by some basement trained wana be gunsmith's blueing tanks. The wear on it, is years in service stripes. We used to call em french fries on class A duds. Why demoralize that ol gun? Sell it to one here above who will do it right and stand it upright next to its brethren!1 point

Alabama, Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas...... Tennessee does have hogs, but they're not as common as people think & hunting them is tough. We're close enough that it's far more convenient to hunt them where they actually are, than try to find them where they might be.1 point

While it was unfortunate that he had to go, he left David, and the forum, no other choice. This type of persona is found in virtually every type of forum. I was a moderator for many years in a Civil War Re-enactor forum and if you want to talk about "keyboard warriors" who know more than anyone else on any subject..... boy, that is where you can find them. I always valued lots of input and ideas/opinions, but in that hobby, authenticity and facts-based ideas had to rule so if you put something out there, it had to be substantiated with proof. Some just always feel that they know just a little bit more than anyone else and they want to push the envelope too far. It's like Grayfox said, sometimes you just don't "need the hassle." Kudos to TGO David for standing up.1 point

I read the TFA email on that and all I got to say is eff that guy. Franklin, y’all need to do better.1 point

How would you propose that I get that screw out? There is nothing left to grab ahold of. The two-month wait is now the cost of not ruining the gun. It's infuriating, yes, but trying something more drastic could damage the gun, which Smith & Wesson certainly would be under no obligation to repair. At this point I don't feel that I have any good alternatives than play their game.1 point
