  1. FOLKS... BE WARNED AND BE AWARE! The conversations shown above are actual messages that some of our members have received via Private Messaging from people who are attempting to scam them. These are just a few examples. The routine is almost always the same. Someone with a new account and low-to-no post count will message you privately about something you posted in our Trading Post forms, and either tell you that they know someone who has the item you want to buy, or that they know someone who wants to buy the item you are selling. REPORT ANY SUCH MESSAGES TO THE MODERATORS, IMMEDIATELY! Again, these are just examples and not every person who contacts you about your ad postings is going to be a scammer, but you should always trust your gut instincts. If something seems fishy, there is no harm in reporting it to the Staff before you take any further action. We are always glad to investigate for you! Be safe out there!

  2. Update for February 7, 2022... I am making some headway on this. There are several features within our forum software that can be combined in just the right way to make it so that new members can receive and respond to private messages, but not start new private messages of their own. This would cut down on the number of scammers who sign up and then try to message people who've posted "Wanted To Buy" type advertisements, seeking to scam with them with the usual sales pitches. Stay tuned.

  4. I’ve been making 1911 grips for a few years now after I got tired of not getting what I truly wanted from other sites. I recently started playing with fractal burning for cutting boards and what not, so I decided to try it on some grips. I pulled out a set of oak stave and walnut to see how the 10k volts react to the different woods. What are your thoughts? Should I do a resin fill to give them some color? I’ve been a fan of walnut and blue but it may be a bit flashy for my carry pistols.

  6. This is a review originally posted on Glocktalk by one of the students in the Feb 4-5 Saving Your Life with a Pistol---What matters, what doesn't. Hi to all my GT buds: This is a comprehensive review of a recent training class I attended---so, if you don't have 5 minutes to spare please feel free to surf another post instead. This past weekend, I was fortunate to be able to attend a 2 day class in Tennessee, entitled; Saving Your Life with a Pistol---What matters, what doesn't. Instructed by Randy Harris, of Harris Combative Strategies and John Hearne, of Two Pillars Training. The class consisted of 9 participants, of which I was the eldest actual class member ( the range owner beat me by 5 years, but he was attending in conjunction with his ownership of the range) The class included ex-military, active and retired LE and also included several current and former firearms instructors. The skill-level was intermediate-to-advanced. Before I dive in, I want to preface the review with a little background: As many of you are probably aware, I am retired LE, with years as a member of my agency's firearm training section. In addition, after retirement to NM, I operated a very successful CHL training school from 2005 to 2015, This was during the surge in shall-issue permits in NM where a minimum of 15 hrs of combined classroom and range training is required and where the license is caliber and platform type specific---revolver shooters can't carry self-loaders and vice versa unless qualified with both. Since leaving NM and settling in GA, I try to maintain my age-diminishing skill-set by attending training classes--[ like the one being reviewed ] as often as they are offered within a few hours drive of my location. Mr Harris and Mr Hearne, are both highly skilled shooters and experienced instructors, each having trained with and by the great instructors of the present and past generation, to include the “Colonel” among many others. Their instructing “style” is not to denigrate or belittle performance, as some top-tier instructors often do, but to actually help the student self-diagnose problems, offering practical solutions for correction. In addition to their extensive skill-sets, each is a professional. I must define what this term means to me; Professionalism in my experience, is demonstrated by showing up and working when you are suffering from an Upper Respiratory Infection, like Mr Harris was---it is dressing out for extended range sessions in 19 to 30 degree weather, like it was the entire weekend, and finally, professionalism is demonstrated by not skimping on the training because of these limiting factors. Now, as to the course content: I have been blessed throughout my 50 yr shooting career; having been taught and mentored by extremely patient and knowledgeable instructors; ranging from my early agency peers to the great instructors during my IALEFI years, and finally with advanced classes taught by messirs Harris and Hearne. Eight hours of this class was devoted to the classroom for the sole purpose of understanding; Who Wins, Who Loses, and Why Instructors such as myself, have long repeated the sage advice of the “Colonel”, the witticisms of Clint Smith, Tom Givens, Massad Ayoob, and other highly skilled instructors, while never knowing the origins and actual science behind the core tenets of the handgun instruction we received.. This class, taught by a Masters educated historian and trainer explained how we are wired as humans, why we react the way we do in extremis, as well as presenting practical methods for learning essential gun-fight survival skills. The content was personally satisfying to me, as it affirmed the beliefs and dictums I have passed on to my CHL students, while divulging the “Science” behind those beliefs to back them up. This portion of the class was very extensive---debunking statements and beliefs widely held by myself and other trainers...such as; the belief that the victims of the Newhall massacre had empty 38 casings in their trouser pockets...just one of many examples where actual research and science has revealed the “True” story of events many believed otherwise. The range portion of the class was predictable; There is only so much you can do on a traditional square range....and, the field of handgun training has expanded about as much as the science allows---The core disciplines have been developed and are widely taught---this is a finite discipline---there really are not any new dynamic discoveries being made....[We] know what works---we know what core skills a handgun shooter must develop in order to manipulate the platform correctly and efficiently...we know the value of dry-fire practice, confirmed by purposeful live-fire. We know that being able to draw to a center-mass hit from concealment in less than 2 seconds, is vital to prevailing in an armed encounter...We know the value of force-on-force training. These facts are universally known, or “should” be known by any serious student of the discipline, and certainly by Any person.who carries a handgun daily for personal protection. So, there were few surprises for us on the range. That being said, I believe Any professionally directed handgun practice is valid for anchoring a skill-set or reinforcing existing skills. And something we ALL learned, is just how uncomfortable and difficult it is to smoothly manipulate your handgun in 19 degree temperatures---how 3 layers of clothing can snag and or slow your draw.---how frozen fingers can easily fumble a reload...how difficult it can be to manipulate your platform while also holding a flashlight...but, Bad Actors operate in all kinds of weather, and to survive,we must be able also. Several hours of the program were conducted in near-total darkness...while we practiced the various methods for operating our handguns with both weapon mounted and mostly hand-held flashlights. Spoiler alert...firing with a flashlight in your hand is one thing...performing a tactical magazine exchange, with frozen fingers AND a flashlight in your hand is a different matter entirely. Fortunately, the stats are on our side, in that very rarely will an armed citizen need to reload their platform...the reality being that you will live or die with what is in the handgun at the time hostilities commence, whether it be 5 rounds in your trusty J-frame or 17 rounds in your wonder-nine. In conclusion; I thoroughly enjoyed the class, and there was very little down-time---we were either actively engaged in vigorous classroom discussions/debates or on the firing line...and in the final analysis...that's exactly what we paid our monies to do... I hope to meet some of my GT buds at another class, contact the instructors at their web sites; Harriscombative.com or Jhearne.com and remember “Firearm safety is Everyone's responsibility” LT. Donn

  7. I have a Glock 43 I am wanting to sell. I am the original owner and have the case with all the accompanying stuff. I did carry the G43 and I am going to say I shot 1,000 rounds thru it. I don't count rounds but I am pretty positive I didn't shoot 1,000 rounds but certainly not more. I have a Milt Sparks holster for it and extra magazines. I have for factory six round magazines, three round factory with Pierce grip extensions, two Taran Tactical magazines with the two round extensions, and one Taran Tactical magazine with the three round extension. The Taran Tactical magazines were just checked to see it the worked. I bought the completed Taran Tacticals from them not just the extensions. I sent the G43 to Wilson Combat for the stippling and had the Trijicon HD XR sights installed. The reason I am selling it is I started carrying a G19 soon to be replaced by a WC SFX9. What it cost: G43 $449.00 Two Taran magazines +2 115.00 One Taran +3 59.00 Milt Sparks holster $140.00 Work by Wilson Combat $350.00 I am in Clarksville and will consider traveling a little way. We would have to meet in a safe we both agree on. Buyer must have a valid TN drivers license and carry permit would be nice but not a deal breaker. Price $650.00

  10. I've never wanted a G43. Let's make that clear. lol. This I like...the extras make it a great package buy. The stippling is actually the first I've ever seen that I wouldn't call "ugly as a sow's butt." If I had not just bought a 365XL yesterday, I would go for this! I won't wish you luck...this should be gone very quickly without any help.

  12. My guy in the Tricities charges $25 for the first, then $8 for the next up to 4. (So 5 is $57, which is all 1 normal form holds) plus the $10 BGC fee. Pays to order in bulk lol.

  20. A lot of the old Norinco is also steel core. I think that was in a different colored box and marked as such but maybe some of the yellow box is as well. Don’t completely know, but many claim the yellow box is steel core when they’re selling it, thus inflating the price.

  22. I've said this before, but needs to be repeated. David, you have some very interesting pistols. You give me ideas and bad thoughts. lol I have a G19 with a TLR7 stashed around the house. Does suit it's purpose and I'm familiar enough with it to not be concerned really about replacing it. However...that G45 setup is really nice looking. I bought a G45 and sold it to a buddy. I do sort of regret that move. Right up there with selling a Shadow Systems because I got money scared. lol Maybe I'll get one of the G45s if I stop buying all these other tempting items.

  24. I have a neighbor who does fractal burning. I remember when he started. He took apart a microwave I think it was to get the parts to do it. I remember thinking this fool is gonna electrocute himself. He hasn't yet. I think he bought an actual machine to do it with now. Pretty neat stuff. I think your grips look better without the colored resin added.

  36. Sorry for your loss and all who have suffered with this. Covid is an evil that didn't have to happen. Except for the majority of Kids it seems, Covid is nothing to take lightly if you have some obvious underlying conditions and catch it. Even if you think your'e pretty healthy unless you've had a whole body screening/ serious physical, then how do you really know how healthy you are? As a Country we are unhealthy, obese and poisoned by much of what we eat and drink, even if you are not a smoker, drug and alcohol abuser and exercise etc., your body is absorbing bad stuff daily. None of us can avoid it all. People have diseases for years before the symptoms get bad enough to get checked out. That's why it's so shocking when a person in the prime of their lives die with this unexpectently. Do they check them after death to see if they had hidden lung damage or something else? If so I'm not reading about it. I'm 58 soon in average good healh, rarely go to the doctor unless I'm injured and have no Idea if I got early diabetes, hepatitis, colon cancer etc., etc.... I'm sure my lungs are not pristine being a welder/fabricator for many years. I even had a gig as an asbestos remover for a few weeks! Avoiding Doctors is a gamble I choose to take for now incuding avoiding vaccines. Even before Covid I was weird like this. As I age I might change my mind on Flu shots as I've caught what I think was flu that two years in a row now. We thought the Vaccines were the answer to this Covid and maybe they are helping but it sure doesn't seem to stop the spread much. They Keep telling us "if he didn't get Vaccinated it would have been much worse", when anyone that's been vaxed gets covid. I don't know how to prove that but except for most kids, I don't try and tell other people not to take them if they believe it helps. I even suggested to my aged Mom to take the vaccine when she asked my opinion. Is it protecting her? I really don't know.

  38. Located in Murfreesboro. Must be a TN resident, wiling to flash ID. Given some recent experiences, please have at least a few positive transactions on this forum. All initial communications needs to be through IM- please don’t post, “interested, text/call me”. No trades. Picked this up in a trade around 2016. I have a few SCARs and really only shoot my 12”. I don’t recall the round count when I got it, but it was in great shape. I’ve put less than 1K rounds through it, and that estimate is probably on the high side. No major signs of wear, although the bottom of the handguard has some dings on it that obviously do not affect function. Rifle weighs a hair under 8 lbs with no mag. Includes: Surefire SOCOM flash hider (closed tine) installed- I can swap this for a SOCOM brake (no change in price), a BCM mod 0 comp (-$50 from price), Midwest industries compensator (-$65 from price), or A2 flash hider aka thread protector ($-100 from price) Geissele Super SCAR trigger Kinetic Development Group MREX2 6.5” handguard Parker Mountain Machine FDE front QD socket Parker Mountain Machine black rear QD socket GG&G angled charging handle Parker Mountain Machine safety levers, black, long and short, “Ergo” style I think Parker Mountain Machine Battery Control Device (similar to BAD lever) Parker Mountain Machine oversized mag button, black Magpul MOE+ FDE pistol grip, modified by Parker Mountain to fit SCAR Impact Weapons QD sockets in rear of stock (both sides) Original mag Original rails, safeties, trigger, charging handle, hardware (not pictured) cross-posted on ar15.com, they seem to be selling relatively quickly there. $2800

  39. Not locked? Few people are stupid enough to steal a police car. Would you really want a cop fumbling with keys if they had to be somewhere in a hurry? Not a threat? More people are killed by cars than guns. He already initiated a wrestling match with a cop. He's in a police car that probably has a rifle and/or shotgun inside. He could easily impersonate an officer for nefarious purposes if he got away.
