I thought we had another thread tracking this case, but the TWRA’s motion to dismiss this case was denied today, meaning it will proceed to discovery: https://ij.org/press-release/tennessee-property-owners-score-early-win-in-lawsuit-against-warrantless-trespassing-surveillance-on-private-land/5 points

I used to be all for the death penalty, but no longer. There are way too many stories of mistaken identity or outright misconduct like this. The detective should be criminally charged.4 points

So thrilled to live in a free state, relocated from LA area in November. The Lord opened doors for us to be here, bought a new construction home here in Spring Hill. Getting used to this weather! I was overwhelmed at the variety of firearms available here that are not available new from a dealer in California due to their onerous and illogical laws.3 points

Enough to break the ice! Hello from middle TN, my name is Anthony and I’m new here. My wife and I move to TN after I got out of the military. I’m not 100% on how I found the group but I’m glad I did! There is a a lot of good info here. So I decided to stop lurking and jump in.3 points

Update, Back to work masked as per Docs & I assume CDC orders. No lasting effects I can notice. Since original post I got better real quick. If it was Omicron, then for me it was no big deal. Wish it was that way for everyone. All reports are most people deal with it well.3 points

The semi auto is flatter and conceals better. The revolver is less prone to mechanical failure and doesn't leave brass behind.2 points

Thanks for posting the links....I had missed the discussion of FN's revival....to me its the best of the 3 if I wanted an older hi power(which i have 2) with all the joys and irritances i'd just buy another old one. It appears they have thoroughly modernized everything that needed to be adjusted. I like how they say "robust 40oz" pistol....a nice way of saying this f*cker is heavy as sh*t.2 points

This. They rarely have anything as mundane as a bolt action, most of their long guns are along the lines of "modern sporting rifles", aka black rifles. They also carry a good bit of higher end goodies such as B&T. A lot of their inventory isn't found anywhere else in Nashville. Another decent shop down the road is The Reloaders Bench. Exit Mt. Juliet Road from I-40 East, they're kinda close to the Captain D's restaurant. They do some neat used long guns, IMO. Ronnie Barrett has a nice, big new shop further out I-24 East, The Outpost. Sadly, I've not been in it yet so I can't comment on it. Depending on your direction of travel, Dickson Sporting Goods (In Dickson, TN) is usually worth a look. They're just off of I-40 West, about 25 minutes from Nashville. Franklin Gun Shop is an excellent place to kick tires on some upper tier shotguns. They sell at MSRP, sometimes a bit more though. Nice shop though. They're in Franklin, TN, just down I-65 South about 20 minutes from Nashville. If you do get there, check out their town square, it's like being in Mayberry, IMO. Free parking all around, nice restaurants, lots of history there. Beautiful homes too, all around town. If you have a wife, she'll greatly enjoy Cool Springs Mall, about 5-10 minutes north of Franklin. The Mid State is blessed with many good gun shops, IMO. Many aim for a niche in one way or another, some try to be an all-round shop. One could dedicate two full days to hit them all, counting the closer outlying shops. Good luck!1 point

The Gun Crew in Old Hickory. Good people. Good selection. A bit of a constant state of clutter with so much product in and out there.1 point

I'm late to the "truck" part of this topic but here is truck perfection. It never got stuck and pulled many F250's and others out of ditches and ruts. Once we had a crazy ice and snow storm. My wife and me went driving in it for 2 days in a row at 350 miles looking at the snow and sights with a foot of snow and ice on the road , no problems at all. The last true Japanese compact trucks that will run forever and leave the American trucks in their own cloud of burning oil and despair. The newer Tacomas are more of a mid-size truck now.1 point

I agree with you on the pricing, papa. Take 9mm for example. 2/3 years ago, we could pick and choose brands and see cases regularly for 250 or less, sometimes with shipping included. Since then, 600 has pretty much been case price. Recently I've seen some decent import 9 for around the 300 mark, but not for any long periods. Just a quick sale on most and it's gone quickly. I know I've bought a little when I see it. But not enough. lol The "quality" stuff we've all bought for years is still, for the most part that I see, in the 450+ ranges. Add in the high end "defensive" ammo and specialty rounds and the costs are downright astronomical by the "old days" standards. Regardless of what manufacturers and distributors tell us, I see 3 factors that are responsible for the current situation. One is the materials shortage and the sourcing of it for products. That in itself will add 10/20% to pricing, or so I've read and been told. Add in all the additional few cents for each person who handles it until it gets to us as buyers/consumers, and we have price increases that seem to be relatively stable and not decreasing much. Number two...the real culprit many say, is that the huge increase in firearms sales have had an impact on the availability to buyers across the nation. More guns sold. More buyers for ammo. Supplies don't sit on shelves as long as they once did. I know there are seeming exceptions to that. We even see posts here saying that some places have large amounts on their shelves. Academy is one example. Number three. Manufacturers and sellers see opportunity in this market to increase prices to see what the "sweet spot" for pricing is. As long as it sells at these higher prices...there's not much incentive or reason to lower them. We are a "captive audience" so to speak. We want to shoot, then we have to buy. That's my take on it. I'm sure there are other influencing factors, but I think this is a good start. jmo1 point

Thanks for the info. I'm not surprised that they are making changes. I'll re-up anyway- they are close by, and Charlie is a good guy. I want to help them stay open as long as possible.1 point

Welcome to TN. What area of LA are you from? I lived in San Diego and in Temecula. Decent Mexican food is kind of hard to come by out this way. It can be found, but the vast majority is Tex Mex.1 point

I guess like my title says it all. It's really amazing to be here, I really didn't realize how much there was to this site. I grew up plinking in the middle of nowhere surrounded by corn fields. I live in a city now, and just looking to 'meet' like minded people. Anyway, hope y'all have a good day! Thank you.1 point

If I go by which one gets pulled out of the safe and shot the most over the course of my life, it would have to be my Ruger Mark I with 5 1/2" bull barrel, by a landslide! It wears a red dot these days & it is just too much fun to put that red dot on a tin can or clay pigeon and see the hit time & again if I do my part. It is truly "favorite". If we are talking something with more horsepower I'd chose the Sig p210 Target. It is very accurate & pleasant to shoot. Plus it just looks sexy to me. It's a great pistol for a day of plinking. But saying that makes me feel guilty for ignoring another long termer that has been with me on many adventures, my 4" Ruger GP-100. It has had a trigger/action job & been parkerized. It's seen a lot of use over the years & is an old, reliable friend I just can't ever let go. Too many memories attached to it now.1 point

I work from home selling computer networking components to major businesses for the major computer company that rhymes with hell. My job has its stressors, but it's better than other jobs that I have worked. I will probably have to work here until I'm 72 thanks to the economy tanking under Obama.1 point

I ordered a new Ford Maverick truck a couple of months ago. It is in transit and should be here next week. I could have ordered it in a hybrid that gets 42 MPG. I paid $1,100.00 extra to get it with a standard gasoline engine instead of the hybrid. I expect that one day electric automobiles will be the norm but at 70 years of age, I doubt that I will be here to see that day. I think electric cars are still very much in the experimental stage and I will let someone else do the experimenting.1 point
