1967 Winchester 30-30 Canadian Centennial. Original, not refinished. This is the 20" octagon barrel carbine, not the 26" rifle, which seem to be more abundant. I did a complete tear-down and cleaning. Internally looks like new, I doubt in its 55 years it's been fired much. Bore looks great. Check out the carrier and chamber area, no wear to be seen. There are splotches on the bluing of the barrel. It could be re-blued to make it pretty. The receiver and magazine tube look great. The walnut is beautiful. It's the perfect shooter commemorative for nostalgic deer hunting. I fired 5 rounds through it at 50 yards and it shoots sweet. Ready to hunt, and I'll throw in a box of shells. Should be good for 20 deer if you do your part. $800 $650 Final price drop - This one's GONE.4 points

Grip upgrade on the EDC. The P365 XL grip was pretty much perfect for me as it is but, I like the Wilson Combat P320 model so much more than the OEM. I figured it would be worth the 65 dollars to try it on the P365 too. First impressions, this thing points great and the front and back strap texture is more aggressive (more positive). Holster fit is still just as positive for me which is a plus.3 points

Story My concern is Biden is going to be looking for ANYTHING to hang his hat on in order to deflect away from his 30% approval rating. Whether it's the Ukraine issue or something domestic like gun control, he's going to latch onto something. Certainly Governor's in anti-gun states are also always looking for the newest-bestest thing to hang their hats on, be it licensing, one-gun-a-month purchasing, mandatory training or this "safe gun" crap. Thankfully, TN isn't one of those states but the urban bastions of gun haters in Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville & Chattanooga never let an opportunity go by, IMO. (Nashville, Memphis & Knoxville have all banned gun shows from city-owned property, for example.) I urge everyone to read the linked article as well as some of the other articles linked to the featured story. It's not surprising to see how the MSM has bent over backwards to applaud these so-called "safe guns" despite their utter failures in performing. There's going to be a strong push for them sooner or later & we honest gun owners need to be educated on the front end in order to not sound like the NIMBY bunch we too often see & hear. I, for one, am ALWAYS going to counter this proposal with making it mandatory for Federal Agents to be the first ones to use these. Make sure the politicians whom have armed body guards have only guns with this modification. Ditto for the FBI, US Marshalls & Secret Service. While we're at it, the armed security that protects celebrities while the celeb touts gun control for the unwashed masses. I would hope the media would have a hard time disagreeing with the law enforcement agencies being the first ones to use these, but who knows? Again, please take a few moments to read the article. It's very short and informative.2 points

Summary: Firearms and Ammunition - As introduced, lowers the age requirement to obtain an enhanced or concealed handgun carry permit or lawfully carry a handgun in public from 21 to 18 years of age; states that the statutory authorization to transport or store a firearm or firearm ammunition in a motor vehicle under certain circumstances does not apply to a person under 21 years of age in a parking area that is owned, operated, or while in use by any school, unless the person is at least 18 years of age and meets certain military qualifications. - Amends TCA Title 39. Hopefully this gets amended to drop the part about military service only to allow keeping in private vehicles. This is the same language in the bill that is attached to the "Governor's Bill last year, and is the subject of a law suit that has not been dismissed.1 point

Followup to my post above about Norma flash holes in 9mm cases. Last night I saw a photo of a "white box" of Norma 9mm that was made in Germany. I have noticed two distinct sizes of flash holes in Norma 9mm (too small and normal looking) so where it's loaded may be the difference.1 point

https://www.upi.com/Archives/1983/10/04/The-Marine-pilot-and-navigator-of-an-A-6E-jetfighter/9063434088000/ It's amazing what can be found online these days. I witnessed this plane crash up close and personal like as it damned near killed me that day. The plane blew-up to the front of me so closely that my face and body felt the heat from the blast. I would have been killed had the plane's drop tanks been full. Fortunately, they came from El Toro and had been flying enough to empty those tanks. One landed a few feet to my right, and the other a few yards to my front. A piece of circuit board landed right next to my right heel. We were on a training exercise where my unit was playing the Russian aggressors. The plane experienced a FOD (Foreign Object Destruct from a rock or bird strike), as it came off of a bombing run a few miles away. They had blown the canopy to eject about a mile from us, but we who lived it, (and the investigators who interviewed us), believe that they saw us down the road and held off ejecting until they were above us as the momentum would have carried the wreckage beyond us. By that time it was too late as the plane turned on its side, and they ejected into the side of a granite hillside that are so common in 29-Palms, CA. I never mounted a 5-ton as fast as I did that day when the Lieutenant told us to go to the wreckage. When I got to the impact zone I was first struck by the desert being on fire from the fuel. When you kicked it then it just lit your boot on fire. I ran up the mountain where the cockpit was to search for what I don't really know, (bodies, I guess), to find the nose and joystick there. I came back down just to be told by an Army Brigadier General that had been flying in a Huey nearby when the crash occurred to climb up a hill to retrieve the pilot's helmet's to identify them quickly, I had been told that one of the men's head had been mostly cut-off and rolled up in his skin to his groin, and that the other one had his head ground off. When I got to the second helmet I realized that I was walking through the guy's grey matter as I went to pick-up the helmet. Fortunately, the helmet was empty. For years I have denied having PTSD from this incident. Why? Because many others have dealt with far worse in combat, and I felt like a pu$$y for thinking that I'd have it from something like this: however, my wife pointed out a huge difference: It was peacetime, and because of that I wasn't prepared for such a horrifying experience like I would if I were going into a combat zone. TO this day I do not like planes flying above me. My son lives in the landing path of planes taking off and landing at Nashville airport, and I can only stand being at his house for a short time before I'm telling my wife that we have to leave. I live in an area where the instructors from Murfreesboro airport take their students to practice. Apparently, part of their training is to turn off their engines and then restart them. I can't tell you how much this bothers me. I finally decided to tell the head-shrinker at the Murfreesboro VA that I think that I have PTSD from the experience. I hope others may read this and decide to take action too if they've suppressed their feelings as well.1 point

Damn! That is some really vivid imagery you painted in so few words. It striking how close to death you can come just by circumstances and how a few seconds difference in timing of things could have played out. I wasn’t there, but will carry the images for awhile, it’s impossible to imagine how indelible it is to you. Almost dying and then moments later having to do what you did probably mostly negates any good feeling you could have had from narrowly surviving. Glad you are talking to someone, hopefully they can help give you some peace after 40 years. Kudos to the bravery and sense of duty the aviators showed in their final moment, sticking with their wounded bird to save others knowing they would likely be making the ultimate sacrifice.1 point

There is another bill coming similar to Griffey's which I understand has more reach and addresses the entirety of the issue, not just cost. It will follow on the heels of the Civil Immunity passed last year.1 point

It's the forum software, it should be able to display these, but a setting may need to be set for this file extension. My windows based tablet can natively display these, but has to be downloaded first. What's funny is that apple's files can just have the extension changed, like from .heic to .jpg with no format change and the picture will work everywhere. Same with their music files, they can be changed from .m4a to .mp3 and most players that don't support apple will play them.1 point

I have 2 mdl 617, 357/38 Spl Mag, and 1 817 38 Spl, 7 shot Taurus snubbies. They are a K frame size but are 7 shooters. They are my EDC. Carry Cor Bon DPX in all of them. IMO, great revolvers. Some people had problems with their new ones locking up after they got warm. Some of the early revolvers had problem, but the later models Taurus fixed that problem. They were built a little too tight to stat with. I have had no problems with my 3 and I have fired thousands of rounds through them. Getting ready to take them all down and thoroughly clean them. I would recommend them with no reservations if you want a good round gun. All of my 3 have wonderful triggers and finish. One, the 38 Spl, is an ultra light model. Have it in my pocket as we speak.1 point

No reason to do entire slide. It is just two marks under the Holosun, like screw heads. I just coated mine with cold blue. Really no big deal. Mind you that was having a gun smith mill the lugs down. If you diy with a file there would be more metal exposed Also, a adapter plate would keep the Holosun from co witnessing. It does that nicely if mounted directly onto slide. 407k or 507k.1 point

To fit the Holosun you have to remove the rear recoil lugs and reduce the height of the front lugs.1 point

I second ORSA...really excellent range(s) and very well taken care of. They have a centerfire range that you can reset from the bench so no one has to go through the whole cold range thing. Gun shops: Bill's Outpost Maryville/Alcoa Gunny's in Maryville (has a smaller indoor range downstairs) Rural King Maryville/Alcoa Buds Gunshop in Sevierville Smoky Mountain Guns and Ammo inside the knifeworks also in Sevierville (next to Buds) JFloyds in Sevierville (havent been in a long time) Welcome to TN!1 point

It's not stupid making your own choices with the short lives we are given. The Vaccines do seem to help short term but nothing is accurate that we've been told about Covid and the lies, mistakes and treatment omissions and suppression is making people lose trust. Don't want to crap on this tribute to Meatloaf but he may or may not have vaxxed based on information or misinformation from ALL sources INCLUDING the CDC and our trusty Government, MSM or Joe Rogan and others he trusts. I have promoted not pushed the Vaccine for the vulnerable in my family. The risk of Covid is greater than any unknown risk from the rushed Vaccines in my opinion. I am truly sorry for the people in your life that you have lost to Covid. Their Vaxx choice need not be written on their headstones.1 point

btw, I belong to both. ORSA is large and the creme de la creme of shooting venues, it has EVERYTHING. Gatlinburg is much smaller and the road up the hill is all gravel. While small the club has a plucky "can do" attitude. Very grateful to have both of them available to me. Great people at both of them.1 point

Gatlinburg Sportsman's Club has a pretty nice steel pistol range set up. https://www.gatlinburgsportsman.com Don't know if you meant rifle or pistol. If rifle, ORSA would be the place to go. http://orsaonline.org/ Both are membership ranges. However, Gatlinburg may allow a visitor. You should contact them via email for a look see: gatsport@live.com PM me if any other questions.1 point

Hell, if you all are that desperate for primers, rebuild used ones. Find your self some nitric acid, set up a mini distillery of sorts, fume it, cool it, capture it n dry it. If you do your part, you'll have RDX compound in your filter. Paste a tiny mix, put the anvil in, let dry and your done. Thats a VERY basic description out of some reading material any SHTF enthusiast should have laying around. Hi home land1 point

When I lived in Lavergne our house was on the flight path of the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds when they would do their show in Smyrna. Those planes flew so low over our house that you could differentiate the rivets on the planes, and they must be exempt from the rest of the military's 1,000 foot minimum for a flyover because they were barely above the mature white oaks in my back yard. I would stand on my deck and watch them so that I could keep a better eye on them. I am sooo glad that I did NOT attend the last Blue Angels show were Captain Kuss crashed and died. I think that would've sent me over the edge.1 point

Maybe the trick is to set up shop in Vietnam inside a couple of shipping containers. No big problems with permits or hazmat requirements. No problem with keeping the floor flooded, at least for most of the year. Shipping containers are easy to replace as they're blown up.....1 point

A couple of notes from personal experience. 1. Someone told me a long time ago that post traumatic stress is a normal response. That's what's supposed to happen as we process and heal. The 'disorder' part largely comes from the lack of treatment. 2. I don't know if the above is clinically true or not - but it rounds to true. The symptoms I experienced from PTSD have not wholly resolved, but they lessened significantly when I could actually say out loud, "I have PTSD." 3. Recognizing what was causing some of the symptoms I had really gave me permission to actively avoid situations that I know would be triggering. My life is better as a result of it. Happy to chat anytime.1 point

At, say $40 a thousand, a man would need to produce several primers to recoup that investment. That's how money is made though. You either need to know something nobody else knows or be willing to do something nobody else is willing to do.1 point

Sheesh. Thanks for your service. Young minds I think suffer the worse. They are like sponges. I have things that pop back into my head when I was 18 working for the squad. My first sight of a young couple murdered with piano wire and tossed off the side of the road. I tractor trailer driver jack knifing through the windshield and a lot of gray matter on the highway 10 yards from the body. Just to name a few. When you're young, your mind is more absorbable than as we get older. We get desensitized, probably due to Hollywood but seeing it for real makes for bad memories. There really was no quiet space or support you can go to for help. Ya sucked it up and say nothing or try to tell a friend. My boy got blown up in the sandbox by an IED. He survived with many surgeries to his lower legs. But that does not stop his story from making me cringe and not sleeping at night without crying. I don't wish any of these types of memories on anyone. Today you can talk to people. That's a good thing. Back then, talking to your buddies that served with you, if you talked at all was hard because they had their own ghosts. Stay safe. We are here.... we'll listen.1 point

I've seen similar things in my life. I too was a Marine & had a close friend hang himself on NYE while on guard duty at Camp LeJuene. I dealt with all those things, thankfully without alcohol or substances of any sort. Of course, not everyone is made the same or has the same experiences or reactions. I won't get into the things I've seen as that's not germane to this thread. Everyone needs peace in their lives. That's why I got divorced........................ Seriously, E4 No More, if you ever want to meet for lunch, coffee or anything, just reach out. I've walked in your shoes many times. Stationed at 29 Stumps too.1 point
