The more I hear from Kyle the better he looks and the worse others do. He responded well to that. The fact that conservatives are trying to make him a hero is just as disgusting as the people trying to make him out to be a monster.6 points

Yeah, let’s just make it up as we go. It’s bad enough Trump Jr is spreading that bull#### but now Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has introduced a bill to give him the Congressional Gold Medal. It’s like there’s a contest to see who can be the stupidest in this country. Guess who loses at that?5 points

Yeah, that statue was terrible and a disgrace to Forrest. However, the man deserved statues. Forrest was considered by both sides to be the greatest cavalry commander of the Civil War. There used to be a very good statue of him in Memphis. But the history haters had it removed several years ago. I've said it many times. The worst mistake you can make in the study of history is to judge the past by the standards of today.5 points

That qualifies as a huge understatement ... Given the current occupant of the White House, I'm betting "fake" is a real possibility ...5 points

I've known for a long time the democrats were stupid and crazy. I thought the republicans had at least a bit of common sense. But after all that's happened since Covid came out, I now know I was dead wrong.4 points

So did some trading around and ended up with a bucket list rifle gor me. Winchester 1886 .45-70. 24" barrel, full length mag tube, unfired in the orginal box. I am not much on safe queens so Ive got to decide to either shoot it or sell it off and buy one used that I will shoot. Anyway, wanted to share.3 points

Kyle is neither a hero nor a monster. He is just a citizen who’s life was threatened.3 points

https://www.toysfortots.org/donate/ While I was awaiting my discharge back in 1986, I worked the Toys For Tots drive at the local Marine Reserve Station in Kansas City. Although no charity is perfect, I have witnessed the relief on parent's faces when they were able to get their kids a toy for Christmas. To this day the thought of that sight makes me emotional. For this reason this has been a charity to which my wife and I regularly give. This is the first that I've ever issued a "challenge" as I truly believe that giving to charity is a secret between you and God, so forgive me if I'm doing it wrong. I challenge everyone here to give, if they can, so that underprivileged children get something for Christmas. At the site above you can give money or even select specific toys to donate. You will REALLY give joy to people you don't know this Christmas if you do.3 points

That was the most god-awful excuse for a “statue” I’ve ever seen. A caricature. Those dinosaurs at goofy golf courses look more realistic. Yeah, people wanted it gone. Especially, the heirs of the guy that built it on his own private land.3 points

Replace right with left and the same applies. That's the real problem, meaning they are both correct statements.3 points

I wanted to build a Shughart M-14 because if you’re gonna have one, it might as well be one modeled off the one used by one of the baddest men to wield it. I started with this M-14 clone from Bula Defense. Mounted an ARMS-18 optics rail and an Aimpoint CompM. I then acquired a surplus M-14 fiberglass stock. The army boys sure do love their duct tape. Once I got it stripped down, it was time to paint! As it sits now, it’s in what I refer to as the “movie configuration” ad it’s similar to what was used in the Black Hawk Down film. The CompM will end up coming off and being used on a retro AR build using the original hi-rise optic mount (carry handle gang gang). As of now there are a couple of bits that are either on the way, or requiring a little detailed work to mount. (Waiting on rings for my Aimpoint 5000 and the AIM-1/D needs a tape switch fabricated for it.) Updates to follow as the build is adjusted/completed.2 points

I dropped a doe in the back corner of my property a couple weeks back. I have does out most mornings but usually as I am leaving for work. Had a big buck show up now and then through the late summer/early fall but he hasn't been back since rifle season started.2 points

This isn’t a function unique to the right. Our current partisan system rewards ever increasing extremism. Both sides have gone insane. A pox on all their houses.2 points

Most people don't know that sildenafil (Viagra) originally started out to be a heart medication. But during development researchers discovered this strange side effect it had. It was quickly decided that there were already plenty of heart medicines.1 point

I doubt he’ll ever put himself in that situation again. What Presidential Medal of Freedom?1 point

I lost my Grandmother to Alzheimer's too. An awful situation to see someone slowly succumb to it.1 point

Yeah, I think Rittenhouse regrets what he did but, would do it again if he had to. Nobody wants to be a situation like that. I'm sure it made a lot of Libs cry when he got the Presidential Medal of Freedom.1 point

https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/584685-rittenhouse-tells-podcast-host-killings-nothing-to-be Rittenhouse was a guest on the right-wing podcast “You Are Here” on Monday night. During the appearance, co-host Sydney Watson told him that the killings were “kind of impressive” and that “of all the people that you shot at, you killed probably two of the worst on the planet.” "It's nothing to be congratulated about,” Rittenhouse responded. “Like, if I could go back, I wish I would never have had to take somebody’s life." Rittenhouse went on to explain that he has regrets about going to Kenosha that evening. “Well, hindsight being 20/20, probably not the best idea to go down there,” Rittenhouse said. “Can’t change that. But I defended myself and that’s what happened.”1 point

Brass case ammo expands and seals the chamber so no gas gets by into the chamber. Steel case will not expand, thus gas gets by and contaminates the chamber with burned debris. If you do not CLEAN THE CHAMBER WELL and then shoot brass, the brass will expand and get caught in the chamber, even break the extractor or the case rim. https://www.typicalshooter.com/shooting-steel-ammo-in-your-ar-15/1 point

I imagine it's Fauci in a AIDS 2.0 scenario. Any knowledge of him and research into him prior to JAN 2020 would make your jaw hit the floor. Same with Gates and his "studies" . But hey let's follow them like it's gospel1 point

Those were pretty neat rifles. I had a buddy who carried one in 22 Hornet on his tractor. It was used and abused, but it shot fine. He killed his share of varmints from that tractor (mostly groundhogs),1 point

I was going to go today, but it was rather windy here. I don't like hunting in the wind. I've already put up one my son killed, and the two I killed. I'd like to get one more to make summer sausage. Maybe try some bologna or pepperoni too. Other than that, the freezer is about full.1 point

Sadly, the victim mentality that pervades populism pretty much assures that sooner or later pretty much everyone will find themselves the enemy. It's confusing at first. And, it's an awfully lonely place to find oneself. You get over it though.1 point

This may sound amusing coming from your local anarchist, but seeing as you’re retired at quite a young age, get involved in your local government. If this is your inroad, make it a good one. But these are the people who have the most influence over your life. Way more than any of those assholes in Washington or Nashville. These are the places where you can possibly provide influence to help keep where you live just a little bit freer. Get at it and make a difference.1 point

Well, that's certainly conclusive. Roosters believe they cause the sun to rise. After all, somewhere one is always crowing at daybreak. So, all the Conservatives who have taken it are actually Libs? Including hiz own eminence DJT? - OS1 point

When I purchased my M1A I chose the synthetic stock due to weather considerations. After a few years I replaced it with a wood stock. The weather extremes that affect the wood also affected me as I got older.1 point

$380 was the winning bid. Also came with four mags. Rimfire Central forum owners said this gun was/is pretty nice. Walther makes decent stuff, I've got their GSP target model, a $1800 (current price) retail gun these days.1 point

It's kind of crazy that this hasn't sold. In most markets you could spend $600 on the table alone.1 point

Most of the time you'll find that different guns seem to run better on different ammo. This question comes up a lot, and there never seems to be much agreement on it. Experiment with as many different loads as you can with your particular firearm and make the determination yourself for whatever arms you normally shoot. That being said, given the present circumstances with ammo availability, if you're short on supply you might consider just settling for whatever you can find at a price you're comfortable with ...1 point
