  1. Alec Baldwin, not unlike much of the Hollywood crowd, is a worthless, self serving POS. No matter what you see or hear, do not lose sight of this little fact.

  2. Kids should go outside and play. Kids should give/take an azzwhoopin as needed. It’s all part of growing up and learning to deal with people. Deny your kids this and there will be consequences. School faculty who subscribe to the “zero tolerance policy” should be horse whipped and fired. This is typical union laziness and lack of accountability. Usually, when there is a fist fight at school, only only one of the two participants deserves to get punished. A boy needs a father. A boy needs a dog. To grow up without either isn’t good at all.

  3. Nope! They've had their own since they've been big enough to shoot one. Raising a normal kid ain't really that hard if you're willing to put a bit of time and effort in it.

  4. Thanks for the stereotype. Society has removed many of the stress outlets for kids. They don't get into fist fights at recess or after school because fighting is wrong. Conflict resolution isn't taught anywhere. Instead it seems to be better to bottle up all that angst until it burns them up from the inside or explodes.

  5. Alec Baldwin claims he didn't pull the trigger? It's a single action revolver which means someone opened the loading gate, put live ammunition in the cylinder, closed the loading gate, cocked the hammer & applied pressure to the trigger to cause the gun to discharge a bullet. Baldwin can claim whatever he wants, but the truth is already known. In a scene being rehearsed that did not call for the gun to be cocked, nor fired, he did both. On top of that, he pointed the gun directly at a human being while pulling the trigger. These are the known facts. He's already on record telling the police he was the one that shot poor Ms. Halyna Hutchins. How did live ammo get on set? Who put live ammo in the gun? Not known just yet. But we know the assistant director (Dave Halls) picked up the gun, handed it to Baldwin & said "cold gun" without checking it properly. He is liable. Baldwin shot a person with that gun (by cocking the hammer AND pulling the trigger.) He is liable. The rest is just noise. But we all know how this will play out. Baldwin will get a slap on the wrist, criminally speaking. The insurance company will settle the civil suits out of court. And Hollyweird will welcome him back with open arms while condemning guns as being dangerous and evil, yet they will still be using them to make movies & money. Situation normal.

  8. I hunt, almost exclusively, with walnut and blued steel. I maintain my firearms, and am not dedicated enough to tough out a prolonged rainstorm. I have never had any issue that would have been solved with stainless steel or polymer.

  9. Anybody with even a basic understanding of single action revolvers knows that there are only a couple of ways Baldwin didn't pull the trigger on purpose. First is the gun is defective and the hammer either didn't lock or slipped the sear. Second would be if Baldwin already had the trigger pulled back with his finger on it but didn't realize it when he cocked the gun. Thereby slip firing the gun when he released the hammer. If his thumb had slipped while cocking, the half cock/loading notch should have caught the hammer. But no matter how it happened, the gun had to be manually cocked intentionally. And none of this excuses Baldwin of not checking the gun to begin with. Baldwin is trying hard to play the victim here. That ain't gonna fly.

  10. Yep. It use to be that a good playground fight broke out when anger finally boiled over, words were said, perhaps peer pressure tipped the scale. Now remove the playground, multiply the peer pressure 100x thanks to SM and its only a matter of time. Word this morning is the parents could both face charges. Interested how that will play out.

  12. Nope. My sons learned gun safety from an early age. I also taught them that guns aren't used to settle arguments and a bit of common sense. They are now 36 & 42 and both keep a loaded firearm in their home for self defense. It would seem that modern parents don't teach their kids anything about dealing with the real world. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I'm thinking this is another case of a snowflake that got bullied, couldn't deal with it and cracked mentally.

  14. What a great lady! Working with traumatic children is so hard, but also rewarding. One of my roles was working in an inpatient facility for children and adolescents who had experienced severe emotional, sexual, and physical trauma. I went home many nights sad for the pain that I had heard and experienced, but grateful in my hope that, at least for a moment, I had helped a child feel safe . . .

  15. Absolutely mint older Anschutz 1517, with heavy barrel. Accuracy is wowza! Comes with Weaver 4x16x42 with A.O, and 100 rounds of Hornady 17gr V-Max, already sighted in. I bought this new about 20 years ago. I'm going to call round count at less than 200. $950

  16. As have I. I've been in lots of situations where I thought, "A shoulder holster work a LOT better than my belt holster here." Riding my motorcycle, for example. I always like Fish's holster on Barney Miller. He was the only one who used one on the show.

I then started my love/hate relationship with synthetic. Although now as I have matured, hhmmmm, I suppose I don't have to hunt in the rain anymore.

  19. I have said many times that these kids that stay locked up playing these shootem up video games lose their perception about real guns. I think the video games play a very big part in school shootings, that and an applied paddle on their butts!! No time outs boys or girls!!

  23. Daughters here who have zero interest no matter how many times I try and force it. One was a natural with the bb gun but absolute zero interest so I am more lax than some. Unloaded out of sight and away from ammo all the time but not always locked up. If I had a boy, especially one who exhibited signs of a loner who let's just say is "different".... or even to a lesser extent just typical teen boy but fascinated with first person shooter games I would take the gun security to a different level. Perhaps even reduce my collection of "certain semi-auto weapons" as well as locked always. Although no safe will stop a determined person from access and it could be argued with a safe, the location and the fact you even have guns is now obvious. Hard to be objective with your own teens to think they are on a track to do something like this but I think I am on other issues. Perhaps that's why they are mad at me so often lol. Seriously though, in hindsight haven't all these young killers shown warning signs that were ignored by the parents or someone the parents sent the kid to for help? You are responsible for the guns you own but you are more responsible to be paying attention to your kid. Some of these shootings could have been easily prevented.

  25. Wood is more susceptible to movement/shift/swelling/shrinking due to temperature and humidity than polymers, fiberglass, or carbon fiber. Carbon Fiber reinforced stocks are generally used when there is a need for rigidity, temperature stability, and light weight. Glass filled/reinforced Nylon is a common lower cost stock material choice. It is less rigid than carbon fiber but also less susceptible to temperature/humidity related instability than wood, a middle ground if you will. Wood is certainly more attractive but it is probably my last choice when it comes to a true tool that will be in the back of the truck, over my shoulder on a sling, in the woods, and propped up against a branch. It would also be my last choice if I was building a high precision/long range bench rest or match style gun. For the former I am going with a carbon fiber or fiber reinforced polymer for the later I am going carbon fiber or aluminum chassis.

  28. Well I just saw a 1 minute preview of the upcoming "tell all" set for tonight and its gonna be everything you'd expect. He never pulled the trigger, Halls is now backing that claim up with his attorney doubling down on that , and surprise surprise he attempts to cry but just can't summon....it....out. I assume the remaining time will be spent painting him as a victim, someone else as the "real" criminal, and how more gun control will help to prevent this in the future.

  31. I went to the link and watched the pre-view. Baldwin is definitely playing innocent victim here. I doubt he's looking for truth. He's playing for sympathy. I won't waste my time. Y'all tell me how it comes out. I saw another article that said the live ammo came from the guy who supplied the guns. They're still working on that.

  39. Good analysis. The still frame from taken from the house POV in this article tells the whole story in my opinion. In the vid Read appears at the moment of shooting to be standing almost at attention arms at side and at least 7 feet? or more away from the pointed carbine. Looks like he had almost come to his senses and realised what a dangerous situation he got himself into. He was standing still. No immediate threat like moments earlier. Texas law and a good lawyer might save shooter but at that moment in time, killing the man was just wrong and .. smacks of revenge, anger and loss of control. 3:15 just sticks in my head, dead man kept repeating that. Jesus help me but I've been that stupid angry in my younger days. When you're right and know it, you're willing to die on that hill to prove it. Too bad he didn't just walk away and deal with it some other way. His Kid has the vid now to haunt him for the rest of his life. And the bad living situation he probably had is now 100 times worse I'm guessing.

  43. I've never hunted with it, as much as I'd like to. The standard Buckhorn sights were just awful for my eyes & the target sights it currently wears aren't really well suited for quick shooting or lower light. Not a doubt in my mind, had I the setup & time to count vernier marks, I could comfortably kill a deer anywhere from here to there, but honestly..... any of my scoped rifles are far more suitable! And they're a hell of a lot lighter to carry!

  44. Not as often as I should & certainly not as much as I'd like, but I do shoot a little long range target (not competition, just funzies...) with an Uberti 1885 High Wall in .45-70. Fitted with a Seoul tang sight & a Lyman globe front & shooting 510gn cast at right at 1100fps, I can regularly bang a 36" gong at 800yds. I have tried at 1000, but the cast lead nearly leaves a mark on the steel & it's almost impossible to hear (especially after several seconds of anticipation after the bang!) I always, always wanted a Shiloh Sharps until I handled one & it honestly felt awful. I tried a buddy's Browning 1885 (with the tapered barrel, far nicer handling than the Uberti's untapered number) & immediately fell in love with the feel & action. The only downside is the heavier- than- I'd- like trigger, which to my understanding is almost impossible to rectify. It ain't terrible, but at 7lb with a bit of creep, it could certainly be better.

  46. Not YouTube experts, seasoned actors. The other video was taken down, here is the same one, with extended clips. John Schneider explains many of the on set procedures, which I am sure are part of most, but apparently not all sets. I, at first, gave him the benefit of the the doubt, because frankly I did not know how things work on set. I was under the impression that the gun wrangler would be the last safety check, and that the actors would not be expected to know how to perform a rudimentary safety check on a weapon. But like John Schneider says in the video, safety briefings are conducted showing actors and other set personnel the weapons, real or not, are safe. And how to confirm that they still are when they get them.

  47. If the scene requires pointing at the camera and pulling the trigger then the actor points and pulls. If actor believed/trusted gun was empty or set up with dummy rounds because person in charge said it was....Then that actor won't be charged. As with any other actor, B movie starlet to seasoned combat war movie A lister in this situation. Baldwin the actor? off the hook. Baldwin the producer? Sounds guilty. If Baldwin the actor, producer knew Assistant Director had no business bypassing armorer by handing him a gun then he is very guilty.

  48. I pick up a gun at a gun show and point it at someone and pull the trigger and the gun fires and kills the person, 3 guesses who is going to jail, first 2 guesses do not count. Same same here, it is the person holding the firearm when it goes bang that is responsible.
