I think it is done on purpose, if laws were easy to read, lawyers and judges would be less needed. Besides, laws are sometimes written by politicians (or special interest groups) with little to no concept of law.8 points

There shouldn’t be any laws so unclear the average person isn’t sure what it means. If we can write technical manuals for the military to service aircraft at a 6th grade reading level, we can write laws at that level as well.7 points

Kinda off topic but there probably shouldn't be a law so unclear that a judge isn't even sure what it means.4 points

if my insurance company didn't have doctors, nurses, and lawyers on staff trying to figure out how not to cover what I pay them to cover my doctor would have more staff to care for me and spend less time arguing on how to treat my illness.4 points

The last 2 years during hunting season I've passed up a lot of nice young bucks looking for a really big mature one. But after being told I have stage 3 kidney disease I decided to enjoy this years deer season. I told myself I was going to just go hunt and enjoy life and not worry about anything while in the woods. So today I did just that and harvested this beautiful wide 6 pointer with my CVA Muzzleloader pistol. Hunting isn't always about who can kill the biggest deer. Enjoy the hunt because you never know what life can deal you. P.S the bibs are from my fatter days .3 points

This is a 1972 American Hat Company Larry Mahan series pencil roll Beaver felt grizzly. Larry Mahan was a multi-year world champion rodeo rider. This hat has been through a lot of really good times and bad while on my head over the years. The hat band is a girls macramé belt that I found in the bed of my F100 one morning after a particularly eventful night. I didn't know the girls, by name, so I couldn't return it. As a hat band it prompts fond memories. I found that the pencil roll tended to hold too much water so I cut it off after a few years and shaped the edge with steam and a spoon. The crown has been steamed and shaped in many forms over the years, this is current. Considering all the beer, blood (multi-species), sweat, brown liquor, pee (multi-species), gas, oil, etc. that this hat has been exposed to I don't know whether it is now considered an independent ecosystem or a bio-hazard. The silk liner gave it up many years ago as did the leather sweat band. I have other hats that are perhaps more socially acceptable but this is "The Grizz". I guess it is to me what a blanky is to a kid.3 points

If it was advertised as new Federal ammunition then report it to the State Attorney General as that is false advertising. It falls upon the AG to go after people who falsely advertise.3 points

A friend asked me to install his new DD M4 RIS II FSP. But the rail didn't come with the wrench it was supposed to. Rather than wait for a wrench to arrive, I found a cheap castle nut wrench in my tool drawer that I don't use because I can't put it on torque wrench. It wouldn't fit but I figured it would be easy enough to file it down to fit. That took just a few seconds with the file and it fit good enough. Now I set myself to creating a hole in it for the torque wrench. I started by drilling out a hole with a 7/16" drill bit. Then I used a triangle file to make it square and then work it out to size. I should have taken pictures at each step but I didn't so here are some pictures after I'd been filing for a while. Yeah, my square is crooked but it doesn't really matter. The point was to be able to get it on to the torque wrench. Worked perfectly for getting this barrel nut torqued down. And now I have a wrench for that rail if I ever need it again.2 points

Yeah. There are companies that make remanufactured ammo from range brass. These will have varying headstamps. I expect that’s what you have there. If so, it should be safe to shoot. Tennessee Cartridge Company has a website.2 points

"He also said that even though he was armed with a handgun, he did not intend to shoot Rittenhouse." If a stranger was pointing a gun at me under these circumstances I wouldn't care to try to decipher what his intentions were. He'd be dead meat. There would also be a small "YES!" if I later found out he was a commie.2 points

First time my daughter shot a handgun. She shot one of my S&W Victory 22s and also my Glock 45. I think she did awesome for her first time. She listened and applied the shooting techniques i told her. She only missed once, and that was at the smaller number 2 target area in the upper right. I reckon she stopped this bad guy!2 points

Hate to hear of your illness, hope it works out for you. Nice deer, should be good eating. I have always said "I don't hunt for horns", which usually has me bringing does in. I will take a decent buck, no doubt, but I don't count points until he is down.2 points

Looks great. I would be thrilled with that size deer. Hunting on WMA land does not afford me many opportunities at good sized deer, but for the most part, they all eat the same. I like that your pup is photobombing you too. Sorry to hear about the illness. We all need to remember to lighten up and just try to enjoy life.2 points

Funny, but i do feel the same. No pistols should ever be sold with one magazine. Ruger is notorious for this. It rankles me, but not enough to not buy one.2 points

I get what you're saying, but some of us have a really tough time on the phone. My hearing is long gone and I struggle with ftf conversation and struggle mightily on the phone. Email is my best bet at clear communication.2 points

I don’t like the inability to delete ads. It could be worse; Armslist requires a paid subscription not only to see the ad body, but now you can’t even see the price without logging in. A site with as many data breaches as Armslist has a lot of nerve asking for access to my bank account in order to do business there.2 points

Pawn shop guys aren’t always the most honest folks available. Could be this guy didn’t know what he was talking about. Could be he’s just dishonest. Could be you misunderstood. Nothing illegal here. To be honest, it’s partly on you. New Federal ammunition should be packaged in a Federal box. It’s likely decent ammo.1 point

I understand that too, but I don’t understand people not contacting you back when they have something for sale or trade. All you got to do is say not interested or I’ll pass, thanks. Also the ones that don’t price their stuff or say I’m taking offers. It’s not a auction website. A lot of people just have no morals about them anymore.1 point

I just read that it comes with only ONE magazine ! WTF ??? $700 for a gun that only comes with one magazine is crappy in my opinion !1 point

It depends on what you consider a modern muzzleloader. I'm running a 275 arrowhead bullet at 2850. I zero at 200 yards. My MZ is not your normal muzzleloader though.1 point

Yeah I couldn’t believe it when I heard Grosskreutz would take the stand. Not that he needed to admit anything—the video shows what he did, but MSM says Grosskreutz put his hands up as if surrendering when he was shot. Ummmm, not in the video I saw. But I am glad for his sake that he apparently still has a left arm.1 point

I’m a former backcountry ranger at Rocky Mountain NP and Mesa Verde NP, and on the bear management team at both. Our duty weapon in the early 1990s was a S&W 686, 4” .357mag. We carried the old Black Talon rounds. In 1995 we switched to Sig and we were issued P229 in 9mm or, if we purchased our own -which I did- we could carry P229 in .40, or P220 .45 acp. I chose the P220 with Black Talon rounds. A ranger buddy of mine worked in Alaska. When we had revolvers, Alaska rangers could choose .44 mag S&W and they carried 870 pump 12ga with slugs for the big bears. When we switched to Sig, he chose a P220 in .45. All said, I’m inclined to carry my .357. It’s been on my hip in mid, rain, snow, ice, on foot, horseback, ATV, and I never had a worry about a malfunction. For black bears our orders were , in order: noise, pepper spray, cracker shot, and if none of those worked, 12 ga slug to dispatch the animal. Animal attacks are very rare, but when they happen, they typically happen without warning, so whatever you carry, it should be accessible. You know how the movies show a mountain lion growling to announce its attack? That never happens. In Colorado my concern was always lions. And most bear problems are caused by people who approach the animal too closely, or attempt to feed it-I’ve seen some people take crazy chances for a picture.1 point

I was looking for something like a felt hat but ended up with a cotton version. I call it my dorky old man hat, but I like it. The lack of vents make it too hot for summer but it's great this time of year. https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/redhead-tarp-cloth-hat-for-men1 point

One of the best hat makers in the country is up the road in Covington, Tn. The shop is only open to customers on the weekends. The rest of their time is spent making hats. They are definitely not cheap but they make something for everyone. https://www.buckaroohatters.com/ I had this one made on a whim. Out of one of my favorite movies.1 point

Make you smile when you shoot it? Make you think about that at one time the HP was THE most mil issued handgun in the world? Restore some of your soul with shooting an all-metal gun over a polymer one? I've never known Browning to be a company who listens & responds to their customers. I could be wrong on this, but that's coming from a huge Browning fan (me). They currently make nothing larger in caliber than .380acp, which is sad. With just a few tweaks (mag capacity for starters), they could've kept the HP in play & in production with any of the full-sized pistols, IMO. They could've gone the route blazed by Sig with their P-226, a full-sized pistol which is still selling nicely with models such as their Tac Ops. Many shooters, including myself, believe the HP is THE best looking pistol ever made. With a good barrel, they were also among THE most accurate. Yet Browning managed to piss all of that away somehow. They must've hired some former Remington exec's or something?1 point

I have as much of a problem with people who criticize pharmaceutical companies for paying their executives and top scientists well as I do people who criticize captains of industry who get compensated well too. People take big risks for the chance of big reward. People invest huge amounts of talent, knowledge and effort into work that might generate big reward. Practically all of the significant medical advancements that we have seen in the past century and which greatly improved the quality of life or survivability of humans in previously dire scenarios came as a result of "Big Medical" (not just pharmaceutical companies) who profited greatly from it. I see nothing wrong with this. Yes, we need some healthcare reform in our country but I would really suggest we start with the health insurance companies. You're going to find that most of the greed you're searching for in healthcare resides there and the ripple effect causes all other prices to rise.1 point
