Maybe so, maybe not. A lot of things went wrong that evening and there were a series of bad decisions on both sides. These decisions lead to a needless loss of life. You are correct that I am of the opinion that open carry (especially at a demonstration) makes you more of a target. It also gives the media nice photos of you to let them say “look at the evil guy with the evil gun, guns are bad we should ban them all”. It’s a uphill battle at times to keep our 2A rights. I just don’t like to give them more ammunition to use to fight against us.3 points

Modern inline muzzle loaders are very capable out to 200 yards. For 200 yards I would be shooting 150 grains of powder. For 100 gr I would keep my shots to 100 yards just because of the drop past 100.2 points

The kid actually had decent accuracy, under pressure too. Now they need to let him out, drop all charges, give him back his rifle, and send him somewhere else he's needed.2 points

They need to rename it “The Liars Club” , I’ve never tried to deal with so many people with people “For Sale or For trade” that WILL NOT contact you back when you try to get in touch with them!! Don’t get me wrong , I have dealt with some good people on there , but more bad than good. They either give you the run around trying to meet with them, back out on you , won’t contact you back, won’t answer the phone or email or text. It’s like people nowadays are scared ####less to speak to you on the phone!Personally I’d much rather talk to you on the phone, I can find out more that way in 2 minutes than I can spending a week emailing or texting. But I understand some people don’t get good phone service and have to text. Well , that’s my rant1 point

I'm just going by what was reported. True, I wasn't there, but his behavioral history doesn't bode well for him.1 point

It depends on what you consider a modern muzzleloader. I'm running a 275 arrowhead bullet at 2850. I zero at 200 yards. My MZ is not your normal muzzleloader though.1 point

Yeah, I saw that. Britney Jackson, former Lady Vol basketball player from Cleveland, TN. Does seem old Albert still has some control issues. Cops gave him all sorts of chances to calm down & he plowed on ahead until they cuffed him. Sad part is, he was an extremely talented player when he was a Vol & Titan. Yet he pissed all that away chasing the almighty dollar. Sad.1 point

He was way past obnoxious. He was a dirty, violent player. He was arrested in Franklin,TN, for threatening his ex GF's boyfriend. The list goes on. I have no sympathy for that type individual. JMO1 point

Eh, that's a nasty disease. I wouldn't really wish that on a football player, no matter how obnoxious he is. A politician is a different matter entirely though....................1 point

I took my second biggest buck, 2 years ago with my Chinamart special CVA Wolf, 85gn of BH209 & a 240gn XTP in a green sabot at a measured 136 long paces (roughly 140yds) bang-flopped on the spot.1 point

No disagreement on any of that. He's also dying of kidney disease from my understanding. Steroids will do a number on you.1 point

I am generally not a fan of open carry, but if one’s purpose is to guard/protect in a potential riot situation (as opposed to carrying while shopping, going to the gas station, etc), it can be appropriate. Rittenhouse was not shopping for shoes at the mall. Besides, it’s basically impossible to conceal a rifle, which is what I would want were I in Rittenhouse’s shoes. Whether he should have been there or not is an unrelated issue.1 point

Oh come on. There is no way to know that he was targeted because he was open carrying. There were plenty of other guys open carrying that were not targets. I think this guy looked young was by his self at the moment he was attacked by someone that had told him he was going to kill him if he was found alone. I know you guys are against open carrying but that is a reach.1 point

I have. They didn't run the ball even decently against the Rams but thankfully, it wasn't dependent on that. Being ahead 21-3 at the half takes a lot of pressure off. Hopefully we get both o-line starters back as their back-ups are sorely lacking in talent, IMO. In particular Lewan's replacement did an "ole`" block in the first half that should've went for some decent yardage. Instead the Ram OLB got a tackle for a loss. Every other position has quality back-ups except for the o-line, IMO. Defense DID play almost a perfect game though, I agree. Simmons reminded me of the old Haynesworth days. Just a monster last night.1 point

I am at Flowers right now. I am #16 in line. There is a place called Potts Meats in Watrace which has good reviews, but they don’t take meat already deboned and trimmed.1 point

A special thanks to all my friends on TGO for making this a special day. Living alone, and no visitors, no family, it meant more than I can say. Thank you all. Larry1 point

they kind of let the Rams back in a little in the 3rd quarter, but still held them and played well in the 4th. I’m glad they gave AP the chance to get the TD. For not knowing the protection schemes, not really practicing with the team, and not having played at all this year, he did not do that bad. I expect him to look at film and be better next week. penalties on the Rams part did help, but we still beat them more than they beat themselves. We dominated them in the first half.1 point

Does this happen regularly? Seems like I remember you saying before. She might have some sort of allergy to something in the shot if they continually give her symptoms. I assume her doctor is aware?1 point

I was looking for a 7-08 or 270 as a spare, friend offered a excellent deal on a 280AI. It's really growing on me but I am very glad that I reload, as I wouldn't want to be buying factory loads for this one. I am using 139/140g & H4350 for whitetail, but I might start looking at 160g if elk was on the menu.1 point

I'm a HUGE fan of .45 acp for personal protection from two legged predators. For backwoods hiking where large fou legged predators roam, I would carry the .357. of course I have an 8 round .357 but even with six gun I'd take the .357 with 158 grain full power loads.1 point
-
You could have a faster than normal twist. I think most .257 Roberts have a 1-10". At least that's what I remember. Heavier longer bullets might shoot better, I personally would shoot 115, 117, 120. but, don't rule out a loose ring or base.1 point

I don’t see much of a way out for him. I suspect this will end in a plea bargain. They’ll want his testimony against Kyle. Below is the law we are talking about. You can make your own decisions about what it says. It requires no intent to harm someone, only intent to transfer, which he has confessed to. He could also face Federal charges should the feds decide to go that route. .......................................................................................... 2013 Wisconsin Statutes & Annotations 948. The National Park Rangers are advising hikers in Glacier National Park and other Rocky Mountain parks to be alert for bears and take extra precautions to avoid an encounter. They advise park visitors to wear little bells on their clothes so they make noise when hiking. The bell noise allows bears to hear them coming from a distance and not be startled by a hiker accidentally sneaking up on them. This might cause a bear to charge. Visitors should also carry a pepper spray can just in case a bear is encountered. Spraying the pepper into the air will irritate the bear's sensitive nose and it will run away. It is also a good idea to keep an eye out for fresh bear scat so you have an idea if bears are in the area. People should be able to recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear scat. Black bear droppings are smaller and often contain berries, leaves, and possibly bits of fur. Grizzly bear droppings tend to contain small bells and smell of pepper.0 points
