  1. The 100 yards from a dwelling in hunting only applies to public land. If you are on private property it does not apply.

  2. My anti vax brother has now come over to the vax side. Of course, he can't take it now because he has the Covid. Anyway, they will let him know when to get boosted.

  3. Just your daily reminder to consult a physician that you trust and to decide which course of action is best for you to take. Ignore the media, ignore the Internet. Talk to the person with an MD that you trust to keep you healthy and well in all other matters of medicine, and show them the same level of trust with this that you'd show them with any other medical matter. Why? Because y'all are my people, dammit, and I want you here tomorrow. And like you I think this thing has become so politicized that even if walks and quacks like a duck, you've got reason to be skeptical that it's not really a Koala. So go find your expert in ducks and Koalas and trust them. PS: No scotch or whiskey was harmed in the creation of this post... but I'mma 'bout to fix that.

  4. Get a suppressor. I don't know the law there, but typically you can't shoot within 100 yards of a dwelling without permission. This is the rule we go by when I do my thing regardless of what state or county we are in.

  5. Read this today, let the bashing begin. Now how is the "mandate" gona work. https://www.foxnews.com/media/ron-johnson-no-fda-approved-covid-vaccine SEN. RON JOHNSON: We do not have an FDA-approved vaccine being administered in the U.S. The FDA played a bait and switch. They approved the Comirnaty version of Pfizer drugs. It’s not available in the U.S. They even admit it. I sent them a letter three days later going "What are you doing?" What they did is they extended the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer drug vaccine that’s available in the U.S., here that’s more than 30 days later, they haven’t asked that very simple question. If you’re saying that the Pfizer drug is the same as the Comirnaty, why didn’t you provide FDA approval on that? So, there’s not an FDA-approved drug and, of course, they announced it so they could push through these mandates so that people actually think, "Oh, OK now these things are FDA approved." They are not and again, maybe they should be, but the FDA isn’t telling me why.

  7. No downside for them. Name recognition will have a decent percentage of the population sending money to them until the state of New York orders them dissolved. WLP may as well flip everyone the bird and live it up at this point. They’ll still raise hundreds of millions of dollars this year.

  8. Its been getting TV news coverage in Memphis. But nobody is making a big deal out of it. A quick story lasting maybe a minute and then they move on. A crooked politician in Memphis is hardly news worthy.

  9. It's a step that probably needs to be taken. No good ever comes from a fight with a neighbor. She may just have a problem with the noise. Doubling the distance between you and her will do a lot.

  12. Actually, there is. Fake guns are often used in retention training as well as a few other types of training. Much safer than using real ones due to the level of stupidity of many trainers.

  13. Just out of curiosity, how much property are you on? Can you move 100 yards away from the neighbor's house and still remain on your own property to shoot? TN laws don't allow you to shoot at a game animal while hunting if you are within 100 yards of a house, or even to chase an animal within that distance. But that's a hunting regulation, not a "shooting" regulation. You didn't mention any CC&R's attached to your property, so I assume there are none, but in any case, being a good neighbor might mean finding another place to shoot. At a very minimum I'd go and speak with the neighbor about your shooting activity. Perhaps she'd be agreeable to occasional gunfire if you show her where you're shooting and demonstrate that it's safe. A little respectful, friendly conversation can go a long way.

  14. Id contact Montgomery County SD (non emergency line) and find out the laws and what happens WHEN not IF you're reported. SD here must respond to any report of this nature but they typically try to find a happy medium since there's nothing on the books in the county.

  16. A livestock guardian is a good idea. I don’t have a burro, but I do hear they work. We did have a couple llamas once that would chase a yote, lol. I have some horses now in a different pasture from the cows, and one of those mares absolutely loses her mind if a dog or coyote comes around. She’ll chase it with with a passion (fortunately she doesn’t do that under saddle though ) If I was trying to protect chickens, goats or sheep then I would look at a protective llama or two. If calves, then a burro. I have several newborn calves in the field now. I’d probably sleep better with a burro myself

  17. Congrats Greg.... If I didnt have so much to do in being retired, I would seriously consider buying a good quality stock duplicating machine and just crank out semi inlet stocks of various kind. Nice manlicher type stocks can bring a premium even in semi inlets. Heck I bet your dad might even enjoy shaving some close tolerances on it! The few that do stock copies are normally backed up at least 6 months just on orders. But I would just cut enough to fill a couple gun show tables and be done. Think about it. If you get too bored, its a fun hobby with $$$ benefits. A good machine would run you between $3500 and 4K to start.

  18. I saw them online in stock. Couldn’t believe it! Ordered online, picked at front desk a few minutes later. Have also seen large pistol primers in stock at midway and Natchez today. So maybe things are getting a little better.

  19. I sold any flavor primers for $35 to $40 a brick last winter. Hope I helped out so guys don’t have to pay $7.00/hundred plus tax. We need to set up a “hotline” on here to give guys an idea where primers can be found, quantity, price. Guys can then decide just how bad they need them. Others like myself can hole out and let the ‘desperados’ get what they need.

  20. I have not had lasik, but my 52 year old eyes don’t focus up close anymore. I can either wear reading glasses, see the gun sites and have a blurry target, or not wear my reading glasses, see the target and the sights are blurry. I tend to want to see the gun sights, but I also practice (when I can get to the range) shooting at a clear target. This is one reason I went with a red dot sight on my EDC. The way the dot/reticle is projected in the window of the sight, it is as if is it further away and it is actually fuzzy with reading glasses on. I can shoot with the red dot w/o glasses and see the red dot reticle and the target. The pistol, however is a bit blurry.

  23. Good paying manufacturing jobs? Yeah, that’s exactly what Memphis and Tennessee as a whole need. It doesn’t matter if you like the idea of EVs, or hate Memphis. Quality manufacturing jobs in Tennessee are a great thing that we should all be happy about.

  24. I really identified with my job, and I thought there would be a long adjustment period when I retired. Well, that adjustment period took as long as the walk from my desk to the gate. I've never looked back, never missed it, and never been bored. I should have retired at 25!

  25. Congratulations! Retirement is great. Prior to retirement I had a lot of negative people who are programmed to be permanent worker bees asking what I would do with all of the free time. Throw away your clock . I travel, I have my guns, my wife and her one hundred miles per hour social circle, my side by side that I tinker on almost every day and I’m finally getting around to building a respectable work space for my all of my tools in my garage. Some days I stay in the garage for hours. Other days I drink beer or scotch and watch westerns and sports. I find it hard to believe working was ever important to me. I don’t miss it at all. Don’t let others dictate what you do with your time. Enjoy!

  26. So its going where the turf farm was. Go figure that there's 2 partnership parks around. They'll need some major road work to deal with 750 employees. The first Amazon site is at the south end of pellissippi parkway and is well under way this point. They've got 4 stories of steel building going up. So the rumored 2nd Amazon site could be where I thought S&W was going, or could be where SCCY was going, or yet somewhere else.

  28. You'll be surprised at how fast you can get used to not working for a living. I'm retired, single, financially sound and the kids are grown and out on their own. I go where I want, when I want and do what I want. Other than the law, there's nobody I have to answer to. Its a kind of freedom I never knew before. Honestly, some days I get downright bored. After the life I've lived, I like that! But then you have a wife and kids. Trust me, they'll keep you busy.

  31. I got married on 03 and I retired in 05 from the USN. Our plan was for me to be the house husband. We both had our own guns and motorcycles with plans to shoot and ride. I stayed busy with house work, yard work, vehicle maintenance and cleaning guns and handloading ammo. In 06 our son was born. Motorcycles sit idle most of the time and guns are locked in the safe. I am ran ragged doing what needs to be done. I cant remember how I got anything done when I was still on active duty.
