  1. I haven't practiced in over two decades, and I don't want to. I know that there's a lot of confusing information put out there by both sides that's complicated by politicization thanks mostly to the left during Trump's last year in office. There are valid reasons for not getting the vaccine, and I wouldn't suggest otherwise. What annoys me is people posting information on this forum who's source is a so-called expert citing anecdotal cases as if they are derived by the scientific method. In the case of treating humans, the gold standard of the scientific method is the double-blind study. That means neither the administering party nor the recipient know whether they are getting a placebo or the real drug. Those studies take time, and unfortunately, the virus (the D variant), proves VERY contagious and seems to be killing younger people who aren't vaccinated because this was a disease killing old or disabled people. Unfortunately, anecdotal news reports of people falsely reporting COVID infections really invalidates CDC's mortality numbers. Any good physician weighs the risk versus the reward with EVERY patient before acting. Example: my disabled daughter did not get the vaccine because her neurologist did not know how it would affect her condition. Luckily, she survived her encounter with the D variant after a considerable stay in the hospital, but what if she hadn't? Not knowing the true mortality numbers complicates that decision. What we DO know is that the FDA has NEVER had a pool of vaccinated people this large with which to pull data. I would wager that the medicine cabinets of the people posting bull information on this forum are full of drugs who have had less of a test pool than the COVID vaccinations. The smaller test pools of the FDA explains why you get drugs that have been on the market for decades but then get pulled because serious issues come up. One example is Zantac. It's true that we do not have any long-term studies of these vaccines, but they were derived by proven scientific methods. My heart hurts for Phil Valentine and his family because he made a bad risk assessment when he decided not to take the vaccine. I don't want people on this forum doing the same damned thing because they were listening to some alleged expert spewing anecdotal information to the world to see how many people they can fool.

  2. I agree, we don't need to promote people vacationing here. The woo girl epidemic is crippling Lower Broadway in Nashville clogging up the road with all types of pedal taverns and tractors hauling obnoxious drunks who are having so much fun that they decide to move here, drive the housing prices sky high, and then complain about how we don't do things the way that they did them back in Connecticut. Tennessee is a horrible place. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter, with a very short spring and fall. The level of humidity is such that we have forgotten what it really means to truly dry off. We're infested with alligators, rattlesnakes, chiggers, ticks, and mosquitos that are difficult to distinguish from hummingbirds. Our roads are treacherous, curvy, and poorly maintained. All of the natives are hillbillies who will do their best to drive you back to wherever you came from. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

  3. They know. They've known all along. They're hiding the truth. Why? I could have accepted ignorance was at fault (I don't believe it, but, it would save some peoples lives). This is criminal. They KNOW it kills people, refuse to report it, and continue to push it. Harder every day! Go stick your head back in the sand if you want to. You can take the blue pill.

  5. Thanks for all of the input guys. I thought the region might be an issue. I wasn't really thinking about being a noob but I know that is an issue as well. I was well established on a forum when I was in GA... too bad I can't bring my cyber cred with me . As far as the price goes, I stand by it. I am aware that Academy is selling it for the same price but that's not with the $200 worth of add on's mine has. I do realize that only matters if someone actually wants/ digs those accessories, narrowing my audience even more. Again, thanks for the feedback. At least I know there are live people here .

  7. Simply put, the west end is pretty much a dead zone for buying and selling. There just ain't much activity here. What does get bought and sold is mostly plastic handguns. Maybe a little ammo or reloading supplies. Business is just slow here. Seems like every time somebody lists something I'm interested in, it plumb at the other end of the state.

  8. I hope you are asking in earnest and don't easily get offended. Academy has the shotgun for sale you are selling for the same price new. We are a cheap bunch here. We like a deal. I've found that if I keep marking my price down, most items will eventually sell. Being a new member makes some folk skeptical. Requiring a bill of sale runs some folks off. Your location is obviously a stumbling block for many. I hope these suggestions might help in some way without offending.

  10. I choose none of the above. Kinda like the vintage ones but that website reference is completely obnoxious, its text should not be bigger than the state’s nickname. The one we have now is fine. Since others have decided that is no longer good enough I’ll take whatever they issue. It’s only a license plate.

  11. The blue ones feel like a political campaign sign. Maybe its me, seems very reminiscent of someone's '20 election sign, no? And a vote also reminding me I wouldn't pick any, and going with least worst option. I like the idea of the watermark, but in different colors. The blue one is kinda close to Montana's in some ways. I like the look of Wyoming's. Come one, its got a cowboy on it. Cant we have something cool. Like the volunteer dude with his AR musket? On the loose stylized state outline, I am not getting that choice. Not just because other states have them and are accurate. To me it sends the message that our education system doesnt include geography or we found this on a 5 year old's twitter. Maybe its the counter to the vacation advertising to be interprested as: Hey....you dont want to come here...too many uneducated hill peeps...and we even let them run DMV.

  12. I have been using the same doctor for going on 23 years and she has kept me alive and healthy so I trust her and when this crap showed up I went to her for advice on the Vaccine and the shots and I asked her if she was planning on getting the shot and she didn't hesitate when she said NO!!! so if she is not getting it neither am I and I said call me if you change your mind and I have not heard back from her on it.

  15. My personal doctors. All of whom said take the vaccine. I'm over 65 and have mild COPD. If my doctors recommend a booster, I will take it. My time frame would put it in late November. BTW: I had zero side effects.

  16. Gladly, it means if you have to use deadly force or the threat of deadly force, you can be sued civilly, but can ask the Civil Judge to order a stay till such time as the criminal case is adjudicated. If you are not convicted of a crime, the civil case goes away. think of Treyvon Martin. As it stood, if you could prove yourself innocent of a criminal charge, you could sue the other party to recoup your legal expenses. This is far superior.

  17. I don't know the exact demographics. I will leave it to the site admins to address that but the sites roots are in Middle TN and there certainly seems to be a bigger contingent here from the Middle and Eastern parts of the state than the west. That said there are a couple things that are probably slowing response; 1) Seller - You are a new member with limited few posts and no feedback. Not anything specific against you but some established members are slow to deal with new members. 2) Item - Kel-tec shotguns are less than desirable to many. A fair number of folks, including myself, have had negative experiences with their offerings. 3) Location - Atoka is a bit "up the road" even for the Memphis/Bartlett/Cordova based folks. When I was still in Millington we considered Atoka "out in the sticks". Not that Millington was any great metropolis mind you. Welcome, Good luck with your posting and don't let this first one discourage you from the site.

  18. A while back when everygunpart still had a bunch of Marlins coming & going, I grabbed a straight stock 30-30 on one of their one day sales. I thought I would build a light weight 336 some day once a stripped receiver came across my path. That day came.... sort of a few weeks ago on GB when a guy sold me an early 1950 336A 24" bl in .35 that was mostly stripped save for the lower tang, trigger & loading gate. Found a 35 bolt on Ebay and then once the 35 was in my hands, I found the reason for the dumping of it. Some Gun smith??? drilled and taped the receiver but ended up with off center holes just enough to have a problem getting a scope to zero in. The thing with tapping a non taped 336 and older was the ceiling of those receivers have a arched cut nearly half way across the ceiling of the receiver top. 2 of the dead center holes actually cut threw into that open slot that is where the lever sweeps up threw the bolt. Once a drill breaks the very surface, it quickly wants to move into that empty space and thus, bores the hole over to the right where there is hardly any resistance. Luck for this receiver, the guy didn't use the newer 8-40 base screws of a regular Marlin but some odd ball 6-40 screws. This allowed me the room to mill the small holes over in the mill just enough to over bore them with 8-40's of the weaver base and be damn near dead on straight! All tho he also drilled a 5th hole in there that was beyond help. Then for some ridiculous reason, someone extended the forend tip dove tail more than 1/8th forward so nothing would fit it. So much so, it was clearly visible sicking out beyond the wood! WTF..... well, I cut a new wide dovetail blank and friction fit that one and a second one up where you see the front barrel band. Both got belt sanded down to barrel OD and sand blasted & cold blued to pretty much match the matt finish that was on it as received. The pistol grip lower tang got a trim job that matched the straight stock yet kept the G300XXX SN in place. I'v read the cast bullet shooters love these pre micro groove barrels. I cut & crowned to 16.5" Trapper style. Makes for a good small critter gun with cheap lead loads. Any way, I topped it with new irons and a pretty decent China Spina 1-5 scope that has surprisingly nice glass. Originally, I would keep this since its as nice as an old meat gun comes but last week I closed on a pasture lot auction that is adjacent to my 13 acres giving me 30 and extending my back 410' against the state park land another 411'. Needless to say, I walked out of the closing with my pockets turned inside out. I'm dumping some guns these days that normally would have been traders or value makers. The last time the pasture lot was for sale was 1946. It was a total of 78 acres and the tax on it was only $680 bucks. Needless to say... a once in a life time buy for me and now puts me in green belt tax catagory for what I will keep out of the new 17 acre addition. Funny thing is the land auction closed 9 days before I collected my first SS check! If it wasnt for that new found cash..... the land buy would not have been possible. Compared to my 20.5" barreled model 36 30-30

  20. I do. I’ve probably killed more deer with my traditional muzzleloader than any other individual firearm I own (bow not included). That’s probably because of the way the season falls, and I tend to get a lot more picky once the modern gun season opens. I love hunting with it though. It’s a Traditions Buckskinner. I also have an inline muzzleloader, but I only grab it during the season if the weather is wet. It’s crazy how accurate you can get an open sight percussion black powder rifle. I DO NOT enjoy cleaning it though

  25. Hate to break it to ya, but add-ons never add to the value unless it's something such as name brand night sights. Rails, iron sights, etc don't add to the value on a used gun, long or short. Most guys I know will strip a gun down to factory spec & then sell the gee gaws separately. May or may not be an option for you? The Memphis or Jackson gun shows may be another option for you as well?

  28. What do you call the guy who graduated dead last in medical school? DOCTOR. There are good doctors and bad. There are those who truly care about their patients and those who only care about the money. Some who want to make a difference and some seek only fame and recognition. I've seen all of these at one time or another. I kept the good ones and dumped the bad ones. I have about 8 doctors who keep my old azz in this world. So far they've done a pretty good job of it seeing as how I've knocked on Heaven's door twice. I have complete faith in all of them. I do what they suggest and make no apologizes.

  34. OK, but I had a similar experience with civilian doctors. I went to a pulmonary specialist when I was experiencing shortness of breath and on the second visit he tried to give me a second inhaler. I finally insisted on different testing and when i got home had a call telling me to get to the ER because of extensive pulmonary emboli. My point is that your experience wasn't so much the VA as the doctor, just as mine wasn't private health care but that particular doctor. My experience with the VA has been great, I'm sorry yours wasn't.

  36. 1 for Tristar-Modern. The Vintage to me is too busy. It would be fine with either the state outline or the "The Volunteer State" text, but together it's too much in too small a space. I like the little bit of red with the border on the modern too. Both blues look OK, but the whites look too much like US Gooberment plates to me.

  40. Fixed it.................... OP, there's generally 2-3 reasons when there's no response to an ad, IMO. 1) Odd or eclectic item. A Kel-Tec shotgun falls into both categories, IMO. These have been on the market for a while & the novelty has worn off. 2) Price. As mentioned, when one can buy new for the price of a used one, why buy used? 3) Personally, *I* have no issue with a bill of sale. Some folks require a carry permit in lieu of a bill of sale. Some (like me) don't give a rat's ass either way. Some would never think of buying or selling to a stranger. Everyone has their own thoughts on this process, so don't take it personal. When pricing an item, look first on Gun Broker on completed auctions. This will give you an idea of current market value of an item. Make sure the ones you're comparing to are used, so apples to apples. Generally speaking, a used item values around 75% of its new price. There'll be some exceptions, of course, there always are. But figure on taking a 25% hit if you bought it new. My .o2

  41. I have had 2 buddy's that have had the Moderma shots through the VA with 1 of them just got his 3rd because he is visiting a Premi grandbaby at Vandy and it is one of their requirements for him to visit her. Neither of one of them have had any side effects from them at all. I am not against Vaccines as like you said, they have worked very good at eradicating many diseases over the years but then those vaccines took years to develop also and didn't just whip something up in a lab in 5 or 6 months, call it a vaccine and start jabbing folks in the arm either. They also didn't put a mandate on them either. They only required them for children to begin school.

  43. The FDA denied booster shots for the general population, but allowed booster shots for those 65 & up, plus those with crucial conditions. This was for the Pfizer vaccine. Moderna hasn't been approved yet, but is expected to be in a few weeks. On a personal level, I've had both Moderna shots via the VA. When their booster becomes available, and fits my time frame ( 8 mos. ), I will get it. Do I trust Fauci, CNN, or anything resembling Gov? Heck no. But I do believe in vaccines. Look at Polio, smallpox, and others that were eradicated because of them. Flu shots can be hit or miss, depending on whether or not the target the right strain. So far, in my case, they have been spot on with the flu. I haven't had any side effects from the Covid vaccine, and I've not been in the ICU on a ventilator. I spent 16 mos. in an Army hospital after being wounded. I never want to experience anything like that again. To each his own. JMHO Larry

  49. I use red dots on target guns; but not carry guns. If a person is far enough away you need a sight; you probably shouldn’t be taking the shot in a parking lot with people around. I can assure you your effective range will be greatly diminished when you have an adrenalin rush pumping; especially if you are being shot at. It may not impact you but having experienced it; I smile when I see the “shot placement” comments. Shot placement is a given; knowing how you will perform under that kind of pressure is not. Handguns have their limitations; I wouldn’t add the possible problems of a red dot sight into the mix. That’s just my opinion.
