I haven't been following this thread or any of the Covid stuff for a while now. I'm just tired and fed up with all the opposing arguments and tons of opinions and "proof" of this or that. It really disturbs me that a world wide health crisis has devolved into a heaping, huge pile of political bull####! I've had enough. I'm gonna speak my mind . For every "scientist" who makes a claim, there's another equally "qualified" "scientist" who claims the exact opposite. And to all those folks who "did their own research" I say Bull####! You already made up your mind and went searching for "proof" to support the opinion you already had. And then there are those who oppose the vaccine, social distancing or wearing a mask on the grounds of "Freedom". Admit it, you're just a stubborn three year old who doesn't like being told what to do. Especially when you don't like the political party that's telling you to do it. WAKE UP DICKHEAD! It ain't about freedom, its about staying alive! Many of you are stubborning yourselves to death! Undisputed facts: 1.The Coronavirus is real AND it can be deadly. 2. There are approved vaccines available that at the very least have shown to lessen the effects of the virus. 3. Hospitals are overrun with Covid patients who are dying in record numbers AND the vast majority of these people are un-vaccinated. 4. The average American is a hard headed idiot! One more thing, a large portion of the dead are Republicans/ Conservatives who didn't get vaccinated for political reasons. At this rate so many of us will die that the liberals won't need to cheat in the next election. Believe it or not, the future of our nation is at stake here. I did take the vaccine. I do wear a mask and social distance. I am being a responsible adult. if you don't and end up dying, don't expect any pity from me. That's my opinion and if you don't like it, tuff ####!2 points

We had an Engineman reenlist while we were in the war zone and because of bonuses he was paid something like $12,000 and tax free. When we pulled into Yokosuka he got it all in MPCs, put it in a small duffle bag and went partying. He and everyone with him had a really good time but he woke up the next morning on the boat with no duffle bag. He asked everyone that was with him that night but no one had any idea where he'd left it. He borrowed some money and went back into town to drink away his sorrows but when he walked into the Star Light bar (submarine bar) the Japanese bartender started jumping up and down, laughing and waving his duffle bag at him. There was no way to really know if it was all there but appeared to be.2 points

I don't know if the data is insufficient or not. There's good, bad & ugly info on both sides of the vax. What I know is personal, family, & friends experience with this flu. I'm glad you & others got the jab, I hope you & the others get as many subsequent boosters that you feel necessary, one every month if you like. This is freedom to do as one see's fit. All I care is that no one tries to force me or my loved ones to get it, that's all. I also hope anyone who got the jab has no bad reactions.2 points

Just found this & thought I'd post it in case anyone wants to go. Fall leaves may be turning by then, so one could double up with a nice drive through the non-crowded mountains of SE TN. Good trout fishing here as well, for those whom do that sort of thing. Even drag someone's dad along as well, IMO. There's always nice cars at these shows, older stuff. Plan ahead, gents!1 point

Not at all. We all gotta find our way through this world. As long as you're not hurting me, I wish you well. I'm sure we agree on way more points than not.1 point

So you are mad that people don’t do it your way. Wear that mask. Or better yet, two of them.1 point

#metoo, worn a mask 5 times in a year & a half, all at the Dr. & then it's around my chin. Interesting thing, I ask the Dr's & nurses their opinion on the masks, every response is/was, "we're following the cdc guidelines." No mention that they're a deterrent. Follow the $$$.1 point

If you can get on Hwy 64 somewhere, it's a great ride. Hwy 41 to 64 in Chatt is another good option. Can't help you on the West TN stuff, that's your area.1 point

doesn't make sense to tie up retail space on items you can't get, or replace stock in. From a business perspective, it's better to just get out of that particular category of goods and find something you can actually sell ...1 point

It needs to be everybody's free choice. It's a complicated one for most folks too. Mine was pretty easy. I got stuff on the list. I have a dead friend or two that made the wrong choice. I'm real tired of going through that. But, not my place to demand. And try to give me the Rona and I'll spit it back at you.1 point

Problem is, the people who are supposed to be guiding this with science have been contaminated with political activism. I'm talking the FDA, CDC, and that sawed off little Cockwomble. Nobody knows who to trust, and everybody knows that some drugs have been forbidden because they were mentioned by some politician. The politicians and scientists with their thumbs on the scale should be going to prison. Getting vaccinated has always been a no brainer to me. It was the easiest way to fight those assholes.1 point

One recollection related to MPS's, still pees me off to this day. After I was wounded, taken to the aid station, some asshat(s), stole $175 in MPC I had saved up for R&R. Took everything except my wedding ring. Didn't know till weeks later when I finally got a chance to go thru my bags. Thru Senator Baker, the Army replaced the money. Takes a special kind of SOB to do that.1 point

This kind of thing just makes me nuts. (See AuEagle's post above.) We have PHD's on both sides of the issue giving us opposing information, and all of it seems reasonable to me. One group of smart people telling me that the virus originated in a lab in Wuhan. Another group of smart people telling me that it's unlikely. One group of smart people telling me a paper mask is going to help alleviate spread of the virus (which I find implausible), another group telling me paper masks are going to save us all. We have Dr. Fauci telling us that masks aren't going to do anything, and few months later suggesting we wear two. We have candidates Joe Biden and Kamela Harris telling us they don't trust the "Trump" vaccine, but President Biden and Vice President Harris tell us that taking the vaccine is mandatory. Our "scientific experts" and the political class really should get their act together and stop confusing the issue with contradictory proclamations every fourth day!1 point

Its not just the distressed finish...the slide is different and the internals have been through the Sig Custom Works shop. The grip module is different and the trigger is an X-series. Here's a review: https://shoot-on.com/review-sig-sauers-new-p365xl-spectre/ Not trying to talk anyone into this gun, just saying I like mine alot. I think guns are kinda like vehicles in that everyone thinks theirs is best and others suck, lol.1 point

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.” ― Socrates1 point

Sounds like you are speaking from the frame of reference of your youth and a period that we no longer enjoy. A time when high school and in some cases even less was enough, in combination with responsible parenting, to form an individual with a base level of knowledge and competence for a majority of kids. That no longer is the case. The issue is there is no longer a "group" or percentage of kids coming out of high lacking basic skills it is the majority of them. Those competent and mature 18 year-olds coming out of high school are the rare exception not the rule. As far as continued education it obviously would not work with our current system. There would have to be some significant changes to make those type of proposed requirements work. Apprenticeships would have to be paid positions. Trade school education would have to be subsidized for those in need and made flexible enough to allow a working person to complete the program. In Tennessee community college costs can be completely subsidized if a high school student has a sufficient GPA. It can work if we as a society want it to work. It is not entirely about luxury. No one paid for my education or my rent. I left home at 18 enrolled full time in a community college and worked full time. I was working 30+ hours a week my senior year in high school and went to 40+ hours a week after graduation. I went on to a 4 year college and was still working full time. I went back to school in my 30's to advance my career and continued working full time all while still paying my mortgage and putting food on the table. My father obtained two bachelors degrees while serving on active duty in the military and raising a family. The military covered the cost on one of those, the other he paid for out of pocket on an E8 salary. My mother obtained a degree while working part time and raising a family. It is entirely possible to obtain education and work at the same time. it is entirely possible to obtain additional education with limited resources and family support.1 point

Next time you talk to those Police Officers maybe ask them (1) were the majority of these stolen guns taken from unlocked cars? (2) how many guns remain in their patrol cars when they are not in the vehicle? Id be willing to bet that if you asked them they would tell you that the 2nd most common place guns are stolen from are peoples homes.....would it make you feel better if we didn’t leave guns in our homes if we aren’t there? How about we place the bulk of the blame where it should be, which is on the sh!theads stealing other people’s things. As is often the case when someone makes a blanket decree as you did above, you fail to keep in mind that not everyone here lives in the same place or under the same circumstances. Maybe it’s not a good idea to keep a gun in a car where you live, but that’s not the case everywhere. I know several properties within a few miles of me that have guns in just about every vehicle and farm apparatus on their property, none of which have ever been locked, and none of their guns have ever been stolen. I also know a guy that left a gun case in plain sight on the back seat of his locked truck over in La Vergne a while back and somebody broke his window out in broad daylight to get it. While I do think in modern times it is advisable to take some reasonable precaution to keep it out of direct view, I won’t be condemning anyone for keeping firearms in their secured extension of their castle.1 point

It is but it isn't. And it really isn't when you throw a threaded barrel in it and pop a Parker Mountain Machine Gen 5 Comp on the end of it. Basically a hair longer than a Glock 17 and a hair shorter than a Glock 34, and it shoots almost as flat as a .22LR If I had to pick one handgun to take to a legit gunfight, this is the one I'd take.1 point

What I'm about to say is hard to convey without seeming like an insensitive ass. We've lost good friends to cancer here on TGO and I know we've got folks here dealing with it now. So, I do not say any of this lightly, but it is important to understand the situation. mRNA treatments have historically been used to prolong the lives of patients with aggressive cancers. Note that I didn't say "cure" them. It just staves off death for a bit longer. The cancer comes back, usually, and another mRNA treatment is perhaps attempted. With luck, they get more time. The fact that cancer comes back as it "mutates around" the mRNA treatment seems to closely parallel what we're seeing with new strains of COVID-19 affecting vaccinated people. Those folks, if they lack the natural antibodies that come from having successfully fought off COVID-19 previously, are basically left defenseless by a vaccine that was specifically engineered for an earlier strain. This is why we're reading and hearing remarks from research scientists to the effect that these so-called booster shots may need to be tweaked to address newer strains. How many times can we alter the cellular level of a person's physiology before it begins to stack up and cause problems? The problem is, no one really knows. Because historically the patients who have partaken of mRNA treatments, the cancer patients, don't live long enough to provide researchers with a 10, 20, 30 year data-set. I don't trust the mRNA vaccines either.1 point

Daisy is still a big thing today. Even though they were bought by Gamo last year the new owner has committed to keep up the national match program tradition. I've had the privilege to attend 5 Daisy National Championship Matches and was a team coach at 4 of them and made the award stage once. They spend a large chunk of money to put this match on every year and a large portion of the expenses for teams an individual is covered by Daisy. Check it out: Daisy National Championship BB Gun Matches1 point

Haven't developed covid, but I've had a little allergy type thing I'm 95% over. My LC buddy was over last night. He was giving the J&J vaccine in Iraq a couple of months ago. He said he's never felt so sick after the shot. Last about a day and a half. About a week after that on his daily 5 mile run he developed a blood clot in his calf. Just to be fair, I may have had absolutely nothing to do with the vaccine.0 points

I know......If the gun manufacturer hadn't made the gun, I would not have purchased the gun. If I hadn't purchased the gun, the theif wouldn't have been able to take the gun. If the theif hadn't been able to take the gun, he wouldn't have killed someone with it. It's the manufacturers fault. The theif is the victim. The dead guy a I are accomplices. Do I win the liberal logic award?0 points
