Lighten up Francis! YOUR politicians suck. MY politicians suck. And NONE of them could manage a 7-11 without running it into the dirt. The government just isn't all that useful, given their complete lack of ethics. I need to go back to drinking.4 points

Early on in my career, someone told me something that's stuck with me for a lot of years. There is no them. Even if there was some organized cabal - they're just not smart enough to pull anything off on that kind of scale. Rephrased - never assign to malice what can reasonably be attributed to incompetence.3 points

Nope just backordered. I got the box of .38 a while back and they even just put the 9mm in a ziplock bag instead of a retail box when it came. Had some note about it allowing them to get it out faster, but I think it had to do with preventing people from reselling it since the bag is not marked with specs or a model #. I had to write it on it in sharpie. lol Now if I could just get time to actually set everything up and start loading.2 points

Have you not heard the saying, "Individuals are smart; people are stupid"? And old Nancy is already working on a way to make it worse since the SC said dementia Joe's order is invalid.2 points

Our local chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is offering a backcountry Elk Hunt for raffle if anybody is interested. 9 days, 8 night fully guided for 2 hunters. 1 bull each. All food and lodging provided. Dates are 14-21 or 22-29 September 2022 or 2023. Hunt will be drawn for on October 10, 2021. I can provide all details if needed. Much of it is on the ticket itself. One of our committee members has worked with this outfitter for the last couple of summers and last year was lucky enough to hunt with and harvest a nice 6x6. Please pm me if interested as i dont know how to get pictures to pop up on here. Sweetened the pot a little as well. Chances are still $100/per, however, the 1st draw gets the hunt, 2nd number drawn gets a semiauto pistol (Springfield Hellcat) and the 3rd drawn receives a quality long range scope package.2 points

My wife was from Roanoke Island and we used to go back there every year for at least a couple of weeks. Sometimes I would leave her and the girls there and go back to pick them up a couple of weeks later. We didn't fish with rod and reels but the whole family was in the fishing and seafood business. We would go out shrimping, clamming, mullet netting ( they only talked me into that once ) and harvested oysters. We also had one nephew that ran crab pots so we lived on a seafood diet while we were there. Normally brought home 50 - 60 pounds of shrimp and some soft shelled crabs when we came back home to Tn.2 points

Welcome to TGO! Spring Hill's housing market is nuts right now. Anywhere south of Spring Hill will be an easier commute for sure. The further north you look the pricier it gets (Thompson Station, Franklin). South and south west of here it's a tad quieter and your housing money goes further as well. Been here almost 16 years and watching it boom still. We are about full though.2 points

Those politicians only improve one thing... their own personal wealth. The parties have different mechanisms, and the same outcomes. I'm tired of feeding these bastards. And YES, I am drawing SS money that I PAID IN. I will be dead way before I get what I paid in, much less any interest.1 point

Got the cath out Monday and doing well. Not a lot of pain at all. Cath was a real bother. Now hoping for good results. Dr said we will know in a month. Got some residual swelling but should go away in 2 to 3 weeks and things will be back to as normal as possible. So far, I would recommend the Resume procedure and for sure if good results happen.1 point

Sigh...We know the answer. Also, they put a pause on federal student loan payments. Of course, you could still pay if you wanted to, and the entire payment would have gone to the principal. So you could actually pay them off a lot faster. Instead of doing this, I have two friends that just stopped paying them entirely. Both have good jobs. I think they are hoping the debt will be forgiven but I really doubt it.1 point

I'm seeing more and more Turkish ammunition flooding into the U.S. If it's comparable to the quality of their firearms, then I think it will be good stuff. I have two Turkish made pistols and am very impressed with both of them! Their prices are starting to go up too, as more people find out about them. My next purchase will likely be a Beretta 92 knock-off they make. I suspect that this will be the new supply for those former Soviet Calibers everyone is really worried about. The Turks would be foolish not to jump all over this, as would the American companies that have ignored this for so long.1 point

I just saw this. Sounds like all the prayers have helped (and I do believe they do). That said, you both are in my prayers tonight. I pray your wife continues to heal and you both are well. DJTC45 - I pray you heal and pray for you to have continued strength to fight this.1 point

I've got a #### ton of men's clothes that are (ahem) too small for me. Many of them still have the store tag on them, never been worn. Pants & shirts. For people whom have nothing now, it might make a difference between giving up or not, IMO. I also encourage others to donate dishes, shoes, anything they can. I've worked recovery efforts before & it's unreal the daily use items we take for granted until we no longer have them.1 point

Ya'll, I went over there today to help out. An old college friend pastors a church there now. I flooded in 2010 in Nashville. . . This is so much worse. Or maybe because I was so focused on my own house in 2010 that I didn't see the big picture then. Shoot....folks were cooking great lunches at the entrance to my neighborhood in 2010 and I didn't know about it until a month later. I was nothing but rear-end and elbows in my house from sunup to midnight for weeks. I know some people in Nashville had a lot of water flowing through their homes, but most of us experienced a slow rise and then fall. These people had a river dropped on them. Houses (real houses...not just mobile homes) lifted off the foundations and sent down the street before hitting something big enough to stop them. Masonry walls blown out the backside of homes and business and churches. Businesses the local community relies on for daily needs, wiped out. The cars stacked up, overturned, and rolled over. Independent local businesses, and thus livelihoods, destroyed alongside the homes of the people who run those businesses. It's hard to find someone who didn't know someone who lost their life in this mess. The whole town is incredibly heartbreaking. They have a crap-ton of supplies. We laughed that they'll have enough bottled water to refill the city swimming pool and enough Huggies for the next 3 generations. What they need is what people always need after disasters . . . people with strong backs willing to get dirty. If you have the ability and willingness to go, PM me and I can connect you with a local church there doing the dirty work. Note that at this point, the water in some of these houses has been standing for a week+ of 90F+ weather. Nasty stuff is starting to grow in the ones that haven't been gutted. Please wear your masks, gloves, and eye-protection inside any home. If you can stand a full Tyvek suit in this heat, it wouldn't be a bad idea. I don't know how much longer they'll be there, but nurses were giving Tetanus and Hepatitis A&B vaccines today at the Waverly First Baptist Church. Get the tetanus shot for sure if you haven't had one in the last 10 years. Hep A&B should only be needed for folks who had contact with flood waters, but sewage backed up into many of these homes so it may not be a bad idea either.1 point

I have a couple gallons worth of honey from 2 years ago that crystalized for some reason. I'm going to be making mead out of it here soon. I want to try a few different recipes, so I'm drinking down a couple 1 gal jugs of wine to use as carboys for each batch. The wife said that was a lot of wine to have to drink up, I said "challenge accepted"1 point

The incident in the cafeteria apparently was due to the officer fiddling with the gun while it was in the holster doing "partial draws" . At least that's the latest I have heard on that one. And another incident of one firing in the holster was with an officer using a 320 with a light with a holster NOT designed specifically for the 320 with a light on it. Apparently he was using a holster for some other gun and light combo ( you mean ALL guns with lights are not the same?) and the gun was able to move around in the holster. It's kind of important for guns and holsters to be made for each other....just sayin". The word on the Sig 320 is this... The gun was initially designed without a mechanical disconnector to make the trigger as "shootable" as possible. When the military did their drop testing they drop them on the muzzle and on the side . They did not drop them on the back plate and because of that the issue was not discovered in the military testing. Later when it became apparent that 320s could possibly fire when dropped on the back end Sig announced a "voluntary upgrade program" and would retro fit them with a lighter weight trigger (less likely to keep moving to the rear if the gun gets dropped on the back end) and a disconnector to make them less likely to fire accidentally. There are essentially 5 types of 320 at this point. Guns made before 4/18 Guns made before 4/18 but retrofitted after 4/18 Guns made after 4/18 Guns made for LE after 4/18 Military M17/M18 The ones made before 4/18 and not retrofitted are unsafe to carry. Period. And Sig does maintain different SKU #s for civilian vs Military and LE . Some people find it a bit disturbing the LE/Mil guns come with mags made in Italy by Mec Gar and the commercial civilian guns come with mags made in the US by Check Mate and another unnamed company. It is almost as if Sig puts more care into the LE/Mil guns and not as much into the commercial guns for civilians. Having said that, Glock maintains Blue label (LE) and Red label (commercial) lines but they all come with mags made by GLOCK. The other 320s made or retrofitted after 4/18 are all mechanically safe to carry but if the trigger is pulled they will fire. Just the way they were designed to. So if you cannot keep your finger off the trigger (or if you put it in your purse and something gets in the trigger guard) it will fire.1 point

Yeah, the check is in the mail & I promise I'll only put the tip in. (roll eyes) Female cops, by & large, are THE worst gun handlers that ever existed. There's multiple documented cases of them having a ND. One shot a perp in the back when she drew her gun & she thought she drew her stun gun. Shot the guy in the back while he was being cuffed. Her fellow cops were not amused, to say the least. What IDIOT carries a gun in her purse anyway? Worst place in the world for a woman (or gay man) to carry their roscoe.1 point

I've only been to Africa once & that was bowhunting in Namibia, so I have no gun advice to offer. But one thing I know is common & relevant, is the upsell. Set yourself a budget. I'm sure you're 'package' includes the common species (warthog & Impala or springbok, occasionally blue wildebeest) but you're going to see a BUNCH of other stuff & your PH is GOING to tell you what a trophy it is & you'd be simply mad to pass it up! Red Hartebeest, Zebra, Waterbuck, Blesbok..... it's all there for the selling. Find out trophy fees in advance & set a limit. It might be one exceptional critter or a good mixed bag. Up to you. But you HAVE to stick to your budget. Think of it like setting a limit in a casino. Don't forget to tip your skinners. Cheap pocket knives are always welcome. If you want to be super nice, leave a big bottle of ibuprofen in your room, along with a bunch of AA batteries when you leave. The cleaners will share them out with the cooks, skinners & their families & their are incredibly appreciated. Also, you'll need to check on trophy shipping costs. The 2 trophies I had shipped to England (Black Wildebeest - $1200 trophy fee & Springbok - $300 trophy fee) consists of 2 skulls, a skin & a cape & the shipping alone cost more than the hunt. I want to say the shipping & import fee was around $2800. They shipped in a wooden crate that weighed about 30lb by itself!1 point

I have just realized that the rifle has become unusable and can not ever be made to fire well again. You should send it to me (you pay shipping) and I will dispose of it in a timely fashion. Glad you figured it out, please post a range report.1 point

I fished the surf in the Outer Banks last week. Water was still right at 70F, but good redfish bite and about all the whiting you could want to keep the kids busy. My 12 year old has a formula. She says one whiting equals three fish tacos. We like fish tacos.1 point

Yep... plus geometry. A shorter sight radius and less stability really shows any flaw in one’s form. I want to pick one up and shoot like Jerry Miculek, but it just ain’t gonna happen.1 point

Papa61, please consult an expert in older firearms before you pull the trigger on refinishing. If you just want pretty, that’s one thing. If you’re concerned about value, that’s another. As the old saying goes, “Its only original once”. That’s what collectors of old firearms are all about.1 point

I think the media is trying to create a frenzy that could upset folks going to the polls in November. And no I don't wear or have a tinfoil hat. There are 30,000-45,000 people that die every year of the flu and you don't hear CNN say much about it. There is plenty of toilet tissue to go around if people wouldn't buy 2 years worth at a time. This reminds me of the .22LR "shortage" we had. I would love to know how many billion or more rounds aren't setting in the bottom of a lot of gun safes that will never be shot. But they got em!! I saw a figure and don't know if it was true saying that ammo sales had went thru the roof since the virus got bigger. Are some guys going to shoot the virus?? The figure for .40 cal was something like 470% increase. Oh well lets see what the media can stir up tomorrow. Boy Howdy!!1 point
-
Does anyone think the number of people diagnosed is remotely accurate? A large number of those who have been confirmed to have the virus have reported relatively minor symptoms. What percentage of people who get a cold that's treatable with OTC meds see a doctor at all? I don't go to my doctor unless I've been miserable for at least a week. I'd presume I'm in the majority there. That leads me to believe that it's way more widespread than is being reported. Which also means the death rate isn't nearly as high as currently stated.1 point
