Yes. I’ve received flu shot, pneumonia shot and covid vaccine. I’m also considering the shingles vaccine. I’m at the point where I know I have fewer days in front of me than behind me, so I’m not concerned about side effects or long term issues with vaccines. I just need to see the world.8 points

For what it’s worth, if you’ve got ETFs in your retirement fund, you’ve probably at least got Pfizer and J&j in there I deeply care about this community - and if I can help anyone - that’s all the reason I’ve got and all the motivation I need. Full stop. As a forensic professional I’ve had too many heart wrenching conversations this year with folks who have lost their loved ones. I’m not a front line worker by any stretch. But I’m so tired. Everyone I work with is just flat exhausted. I worry for our nurses’ and ambulance drivers’ mental well being. How many hands can you hold and cry as they die without their loved ones near? There is a metric ton of bad information out there. It’s become hard to figure out who to trust. If I can use my voice to help people find their way through it I will. Offer stands. DMs are open. Happy to talk anytime.4 points

Had the procedure this afternoon. So far so good. Took about an hour with the DR in the his office. Got there at 3:30, home by 5:30. Not a lot of pain. Came home with a cath and bag on my leg and need to keep it until Monday then go back to have it removed. Said may have swelling and blood in urin, but not to be overly concerned unless excessive. So far, not a bad experience.3 points

Not a pleasant subject BUT, having a procedure done on my prostate this afternoon. Called "Rezum" and is supposed to relieve the pressure on my bladder (going often) and the restricted flow. Not looking forward to having it, but best of the 2 options I was offered. Didn't want the "Roto Rooter" process. You young whipper snappers enjoy your youth, but I will let you old guys know how it goes.2 points

I hate that anyone in the US is being forced to take this or risk their job, etc. I also hate that people distrust any and all authority/government/science to the point that they don’t want to take it.2 points

I did the same. Now if I could find a vaccine to keep me from opening my big mouth at the wrong time I'd be all set.2 points

It ain't no damn fun! I didn't realize I was old until I got a dose of the shingles a couple of years back. I do not recommend them.2 points

EVERYBODY who employs people is needing help right now. It would sure be a good time to scale back on .gov handouts. Too bad we don't have any leadership at the moment.2 points

Got the flu shot last August a little too early, going to wait till closer to October this year. We always go to Publix our insurance covers and we like getting those $10 dollar gift cards. I am due for the updated shingles stuff I think and the updated pneumonia shot.2 points

Wouldn't help me, Mac. If he'd lie about anything else, he'd certainly lie about his financials. You have way more faith in government officials; especially unelected, unaccountable ones than I do.2 points

He’s required to file a financial disclosure form with the Office of Government Ethics. It’s a public document so I’m sure it’s available online. If you dig into it, let us know.2 points

LOL! I didn't think anything much about it until I saw your post, but McDonalds at the Hermitage I40 exit has a similar sign. "Paid daily" or something similar. That's fishing on the bottom ain't it?2 points

Considering the Govt has been caught lying & changing stats, it's impossible to believe a word they're saying. Fauci has been caught red handed lying about his connections with the Chinese lab & funding them. His credibility, if it ever existed at all, has been long well shot to death. "Just two more weeks to flatten the curve!" (insert eye roll here)2 points

Well, I very much and sincerely hope that I do not regret it, but I just got the first of the Pfizer shots today. The one thing that I personally have gotten 100% fully sick of is the fact that it can be hard to know who to trust. You can go on the internet today and read many hours worth of “research”, some of it from apparently knowledgeable sources, that state for example the vaccines are extremely dangerous. That can be countered with “official research” that dismisses nearly all the claims against. It can be exhausting, even overwhelming, to make your own mind up. I have always been very, very pro-vaccine. However, I have experienced much anxiety over a COVID vaccine. In theory it should be a great thing, but it is very easy to allow a voice in the back of your mind that instills doubt.2 points

Thanks for the well-considered post However, please think about this: Earth's initial atmosphere was CO-rich (temp and sea level was higher - we know this from geological evidence) However, the evolution of photosynthetic marine algae proliferated across the planet and we had an oxygenation event (we know this again from geological evidence; chemistry changes with sediments; fossils; etc). The fact is, myriads of colonial-living single-celled organisms (stromatolites) permanently changed the climate. Subsequently, profound changes in biology are met with physical changes (i.e. the advent of the coal forests again released much oxygen). If these lower forms of biology have had such a major effect to the earth system, then consider what our activities contribute (as an aside: humans in fact move more sediment, each year, than all the rivers in the world combined) We are releasing fossil carbon that has indeed been sequestered (biologically, mind you), for millions to billions of years (via hydrocarbons, coal and carbonate rocks used for cement). This rapid re-introduction of carbon does indeed have an effect . We are also altering natural sequestration and even changing the solar balance by reducing albedo (planetary reflectance) meaning we absorb even more solar energy. All this is consistent with the realization that climate is the product of solar, planetary and biological factors.2 points

Pop Pop, thanks for your information. I figured the 3" shells would do a better job on the squirrels. What kind of gun were you shooting and what length barrel and choke? I have 12, 16, and 20 gauge guns I could squirrel hunt with, but I just wanted to do some hunting with a .410. I bought a brand new (6 rounds through it) Hatfield SA. It's the Remington 1100 knock off. The El-Cheapo gun! It has different choke tubes. Initially, it had some cycling issues, but I think I pretty much have that worked out. They way we hunt is with a squirrel dog. When the dog trees the squirrel, my hunting buddy has the first chance at a head shot with a .22LR. If he misses, I get to shoot the squirrel with a shotgun. Some of those trees look like they may be pushing the 35 yard range, or taller. I have been using one of my 20 gauge Remington 1100s.1 point

A lady in our office turned down the shingles vaccine and came down with it two weeks later. It’s been months and she’s still not fully recovered. She said there were a couple of days where she thought it was going to kill her and that it would have come as a relief.1 point

CVS Minute Clinic is the only one at a CVS that will do the J&J shot, down here at least. It was definitely a nurse who stabbed me. The pharmacist is the one who jabs you for the mutant DNA shot.1 point

Speaking for myself, I started reloading in 1967 ( 30-06 ). Mostly money then, and maybe better rounds. Today, depends on what you're reloading. Currently, I'm reloading 45/70 for my Henry lever rifle. When I first bought it, I bought a box of Federal Fusion 300 gr. HP. Supposed to be the cat's meow. When I shot the target, it looked like I had shot buckshot at 50 yds. All over the paper. Finished the box for the brass & started reloading Hornady 300gr HP, over 40.5 grs IMR4198. 3 shots in basically the same widened hole at 25 yds. A box of 45/70, if you can find it, runs from $2.00 to $4.00 a round depending on the load. I can easily beat that, but it's the accuracy I get. Plus, I just enjoy doing it. Passes off time when the weather is bad. Keeps me off the streets for a while, LOL. Everybody's needs differ. I haven't bought a box of ammo since. I've got enough components now to last me a while, plus a bunch loaded up. I'm good for a looog time.1 point

I think they changed the rules to make it easier. My dad left TN for 8 years. When he moved back to TN in 2019 the DMV employee noticed he had a carry permit in the past and asked if he wanted to renew to which my dad said yes. They sent him a new permit in the mail. He didn't have to go through the process again. When I moved back to TN in 2015 my wife and I had to go through the entire class again. Something changed in between 2015-2019.1 point

Yep. You don't just replace a 20-30 year old brand, unless there's one available to step in.1 point

My old man had a similar procedure a while back. I can't tell you it was pleasant, but I think it did end up helping after a while.1 point

I’ll pull it when I’m not on mobile - which as of about 15 minutes ago may be a day or two. But, the data is available and public. There’s no secret cabal guarding it. It’s a matter of public record. The short answer is this - this vaccine has been developed more in public - and there has been more data gathered than any other vaccine we’ve ever developed. I’d actually be willing to wager we’ve got more data on these vaccines than we do every vaccine in history since we were blowing dried cow puss up peoples noses. The stakes were that high. Now, there have been other highly contagious, high stakes diseases. Think polio. But they just didn’t gather as much data back then. Same with small pox. Now, of course there have been volumes of data collected over time - both good and bad - there’s a reason they tell you that a possible side effect of that tetanus booster is paralysis or death. But, also remember that we’re not starting from zero. A lot of the science behind vaccine development isn’t new. Sure, mRNA vaccines are new. And if we’re honest, the risk associated with them is non-zero. But, it’s very low - and it’s certainly lower than the risks associated with COVID. If anything you can see the process working by how slow the approval process is actually going. You saw the pause in the Spring while they investigated the blood clot issue. That’s not a sign that they’re taking shortcuts. That’s a sign that the process is as rigorous as it should be.1 point

No clue, not really. Were the deaths of urban or rural people? People who live in apartments or homes? People whom went clubbing? How many had underlying health issues: obesity, diabetes, heart disease, etc? This is like including gang banger shootings, robberies & other illegal acts lumped in with annual gun death rates by ND's. Just too many variants, IMO.1 point

@MacGyver Care to expound on the mountains of data and research we have on any of these vaccines? I’d be curious what you have to say about the trials, research, and safety record of this vs other vaccines that have made it to market. Even though I myself have and even to some extent do fall into this fallacy, I find it extremely ironic that it is bad that the vaccine arrived quickly, as if it would have been better to take the “normal” timeline and have many, many more people die. At least then you could trust the vaccine? Or would that be the case of blame governments or cooperations for being ineffective?1 point

I did. The army requires it every year. I get paid for a whole day to walk in to walgreens and get a shot. $125 or so for 10 minutes of my time.1 point

There's some stats from Israel on their current covid issues. Almost half of those in the hospital have had some sort of shot from one of the various makers. Google it up. Now I have no clue what the US stats are nor do I doubt anyone else does either. Hospitals have been caught time & time again changing covid numbers. But I again say I know multiple people whom have had shots also contract covid & end up in the ICU. And IF the shots work, why wear masks? Makes no sense.1 point

OH, I do want to amend my previous comments about how exasperated I am about this. I should have framed my comments to state that I am not exasperated by anyone on TGO about the ongoing conversation. Actually, I tend to think that this is one bastion of sanity and civil discourse about the topic. I am probably on the verge of mental exhaustion when it comes to COVID-19 just because of how inundated we are with the subject at work, how much of a schism there is about it in my own team, and how "in your face" the company is about it with the employees. I really just need some relief from it. I want to respond "Unsubscribe" every time that I see a post or email about it at work or on social media.1 point

If I had to go through and just pick one color - it would be chartreuse/white. If the water is really cloudy I might go with a chartreuse/black or straight black. Like above, I don't know that I've ever failed to catch something on a trout magnet. And rigged ultralight it's so much fun - my goto is a St. Croix panfish rod and a 500 size Penn Battle III rigged with 6lbs Suffix Ghost and topped with 2lbs flourocarbon leader.1 point

Yeah , I agree on letting the slide go slow forward on empty chamber. That's why I noticed the disconector. When loaded I always sling-shot the slide and I never use the slide-stop as a "release" , but that opens up another argument LOL .1 point

First, they add tax to the sales price. Second they added some new fees recently ON TOP OF the existing fees. I have some acessories on there, but no guns. Right now your best bet might be to list them somewhere on a forum or local tp see what bites you get.1 point

I'm sorry about your distraction, but please understand you can drown with too much water, too. PS, water vapor is actually a huge player in this mess, BUT, perturbing parts of the system (i.e carbon) changes other parts of the system, because according to thermodynamics, there is no physical or chemical action without a requisite reaction.1 point

I just don't understand how so many can say this is happening naturally and that we don't have at least some hand in it. I'm not denying that Earth has experienced climate changes throughout history but we've gone from 3.7B to 7.8B people in just the past 50 years. There is no way that hasn't had a negative impact. I guess we'll find out one way or another.1 point

It could be that the victim was found outside the home. If that is the case, then it might be harder to justify the shooting. Maybe witnesses indicated that the homeowner escalated the situation. The report did not give enough info.1 point
