  1. Never had a bomb threat, could count the hunting rifles hanging in truck window racks during hunting season, and saw multiple handguns in classrooms over the years. No school shootings, no death threats, no PTSD, emotional support gerbils, etc. And the only deaths outside of class were auto related accidents and health related.

  5. There is more to life than shooting. I've cut way back on trigger time due to the current climate but have no intention of walking away. Things will return to how they were eventually. In the meantime I'm enjoying some of my other 27 hobbies.

  7. While I agree with @Erik88 that the global population and our actions have influenced climate change, to @gregintenn's point, only human arrogance is big enough to think its entirely ours to do or undo. The global climate is far too complicated a thing to have any confidence in our ability to predict long term change. There's plenty of things we can do that we currently believe to be directionally correct. But those directions are likely to continue to change as our knowledge base increases.

  8. I had really been into shooting for decades. There is something called burnout. Having been with some of this shooting stuff intensely something happens. Then comes the what the hell am I doing, thinking, and feeling. The simple solution here is to set shooting things aside for a time. Right now I'm backing off some. I have been loading for three of four rifle cartridges at the same time. This along with keeping two 550's running for informal handgun matches. Get that burnout so go do something else. My yard has not looked this good for years. I learned the hard way not to say screw it and start selling stuff. Some of the things we have had for years may not be easily replaceable. Where I'm going is getting radical may be hard to impossible to undo. We are already starting to see thing come back with somewhat lower prices. Sure enough some people were willing to spend $200.00 for a brick of primers. My call on it is to wait and allow this screwed famine to play out. In the meantime all my extra equipment was sold on the auction sites. My bet is that in two years you can find all sorts of deals on primers, powder and second hand reloading gear.

  9. I have been keeping my HD shotgun loaded with a full tube and a round in the chamber with the safety on. After reading a few articles about why that is a bad idea, I decided to keep the tube full, hammer down with the safety on. Does anyone on here keep their HD shotguns with a round in the chamber? Since a shotgun doesn't have a drop safety, I guess the fear of an AD if the gun were dropped and having 00 buckshot tearing through something I don't want it to made me reconsider my strategy.

  10. So happy to be living free in Tennessee! I moved here in 2020 from Los Angeles, no hating please, there are a lot of good people in LA. Just have insane over lords ruling the roost. So glad to be able to exercise my second amendment right to carry a firearm for self defense without anything more than my God given right as stated in the US Constitution.

  11. Burnout is the right word. I hit 65 in the middle of this damn chicom flu outbreak. I find it hard to figure out what to do next. I thought about retiring but quickly realized I'd go bonkers if I closed up shop. And in the middle of this mess the folks who control my gun range decided to do a bunch of upgrades that have resulted in most of the range being damn near unusable . looks like most everything these days is a giant cf.

  12. After four long years in Huntsville, AL, my wife and I moved back to middle TN last week. Trying out the east side of Nashville in Mt. Juliet. Just renting for the time being as trying to coordinating sell-a-house and buy-a-house in this market would drive me crazy. We are both very, very glad to be back in the Nashville area!

  18. I just don't understand how so many can say this is happening naturally and that we don't have at least some hand in it. I'm not denying that Earth has experienced climate changes throughout history but we've gone from 3.7B to 7.8B people in just the past 50 years. There is no way that hasn't had a negative impact. I guess we'll find out one way or another.

  20. Thank you! The bolt action is a Savage 110 Tactical in 6.5 Creed with 6-24x50 Vortex HST. I built the AR from a TGO Cross Machine Tool billet receiver set. Has a Geissele Mk8 rail and 18” Ballistic Advantage .223 Wylde barrel, and a Vortex PST 1-6 in an Larue Tactical QD mount. It’s an extremely accurate rifle that I built primarily for coyote hunting so it’s my go-to most of the time. I run the SilencerCo Omega can on both of them.

  21. We moved from NC to TN 4 years ago 1/2 hr north of Nashville. TN weather is great, housing is going up price wise crazy. All said we've been in many states but TN by far has been the best. Biggest plus for your move as long you stay away from the cities will be cost of living. Good luck with your plans, hope all works out for you.

  28. I have a bunch of .45’s from US property marked 1911 to 1911A1’s to Springfields and Rocks race guns. I purchased a Tisas .45 and 9mm. Wow, what a set of guns. Cheap but shoot great. I think they out perform the Norinco. Tight as Dicks hatband. I purchased these to see just how bad a Turkish gun could be. Boy was I surprised. Well, I would carry either one into a gun fight which I hope never happens.

  31. Rock Islands have years of positive reputation but those SDS Tisas have come on strong. They are generally very well regarded and start under $400 for a basic GI model. They are also stamped Knoxville, TN as SDS is based here, so that’s kinda cool.

  33. I look at it more as a warning to get ready for what's coming. It's not going to be the end of man, but it might mark in a change in the way we do things here and a marked change in the population distribution, through the planet. We worry about terrorism and wars, but when you stop and think about it, changes in weather and other natural phenomona have had a much more profound affect on life on Earth, than anything else. I agree Erik. But it also might happen while we are still alive.

  34. I work on the Range side of the new Outpost, I don't post much here, but thought I'd chime in on a couple of things and give a brief description of the range, 7-25yd lanes, rifle/pistol/shotgun, upper cal limit is .308, shotguns use slug or buck only, no hip fire. 7-15yd lanes, handgun only, 3-100 yd rifle, .50 cal max. The only ammo restrictions are no tracers or incendiary rounds. You CAN shoot reloads, steel case, steel core, green tip, etc. Not part of any other range, Barrett owns the store and range. Cant speak on the reloading section of the store, I stick to the range side as an Instructor/RSO. You guys are welcome to come check it out and if Im not tied up I'll show you around. Bud

  35. It is not in partnership with Nashville Armory. Originally it was intended to be but that deal fell apart or at least was altered significantly by the time it opened. Remember it was like 2 + years delayed. Operated completely by the Outpost staff/mgmnt side now. The reloading supplies took up a good deal of shelf real-estate with low margin slow moving inventory. Dozens of fixture hooks/locations with things like shell holders, decap rods, or other small bits of $5.00 hardware that you might sell a couple of a year. Plus the fairly large boxes for things like a press kit that you would be lucky to sell one a month of. It was a resource/time suck with little positive return. We tried to talk Mgmt into carrying the basics, especially the stuff that requires hazmat, like powder, primer, projectile, and maybe some common brass cases. That would be better than nothing and move much quicker than all the hardware and gear. Still working on them when I get the opportunity but I would not hold my breath.

  37. Not really an interesting article but when I got to the last paragraph it made my mouth drop open. Is the upcoming generation really this stupid ? McDonald’s is facing a bag shortage due to pressures in the industry, the Wall Street Journal reports. Over the past year, the majority of restaurants across the country saw most of the business coming from take-out or delivery orders, which required them to use more bags than usual. About 81% of restaurant business was take out or delivery over the past 12 months, Yahoo Finance reports. During the prior year, it was just 18%. As restaurant dining rooms across the country are reopening, McDonald’s workers are serving more orders on trays. McDonald’s policy is to serve in-store meals on trays. The increase in tray service is not connected to issues with the supply of bags. According to the Wall Street Journal, some restaurants have reported issues with workers who haven’t had to serve orders on trays before. New employees hired during the past year would likely have served primarily to-go orders and transitioning back to trays is reportedly more difficult than expected. https://www.foxbusiness.com/lifestyle/mcdonalds-bag-shortage-industry-pressures
