  1. I hope everyone here realizes that you know enough to see how little politicians understand firearms. I further hope you realize they have the same amount of knowledge or economics, healthcare, safety, environment, foreign policy, etc. It's really scary when you stop and think about it.

  2. We all make our own bed, I know I've made mine, and no amount of fear mongering will convince me to take this vaccine. There is just too much bogus BS being shoved down our throats to make me believe they have our good interest in mind. With what this country has gone through, in the last couple of years nothing, absolutely nothing, will convince me that our current administration is on the up and up on this, and many other things.

  3. The writing off of student loans erks me something fierce. It's a loan, the last time I borrowed money I had to pay it back with interest. Printing more and more money is a special kind of stupid too.

  4. I know it's a hard pill for folks to swallow, but there's not a single one of us who is going to make it out of here alive. We've all got a date with the Grim Reaper. It sucks that for some folks he comes as a virus, but there are a million other ways people die every day too and a lot of them have better forms of prevention than what we have for COVID-19. A person should seriously just listen to their doctor, analyze the risks, factor in their own risk profile, and make their own decision. I really hope the bleeding hearts don't hassle me the next time I have a cheeseburger or a glass of bourbon, or inhale some gun smoke. None of those things are good for you either, but I'm taking my chances. "Every man dies, but not every man really lives."

  6. This is what happens when you try to become a new world order and allow anyone or anything to travel or be shipped from anywhere in the world. And when they/it travel by air you can transmit to millions and never leave your seat. If we don't lock down our borders and get a handle on who and what comes in and out of our country, it's just gonna get worse. Keep Your Powder Dry!!

  8. Inflation last month was 5.4 % up. that means if you make 75 k a year you took a pay cut of over 4k. I think it will get worse as we keep righting off student loans and printing money. Not sure what the effect will be other that higher prices and lower buying power.

  9. I think that risk analysis factored in a bunch of false negatives on the side of the vaccine, is my point. I guess I’m just jaded and can’t see why there is so much fear of the vaccine. Odds are much higher of dying from Covid at age 61 than any complications from the vaccine.

  12. I feel as I'm the only one, or one of very few, that appreciates this virus for what it is... A COLD VIRUS.... for which I have the cure... TURN OFF THE TV!!! It sure isn't a chemical injection that potentially causes death or serious illness in some individuals to hopefully prevent the sniffles and cold/flu symptoms... Remember folks.. exposure doesn't equal infection, and infection doesn't equal illness.... people do get sick... from this and all sorts of ailments, daily... no way to stop that... but as soon as we all quit giving this thing the headspace the govt and media so desire the quicker it becomes a non-event.. IMHO.... Love to hear thoughts.....

  16. Or as close as we may be allowed to get. If you've seen my old thread "Well I did something today I said I wouldn't" or something like that, you'll know I was, have been, and still am...a person who contends this is all a ploy by our Overlords. Yes, I know there is a virus. One would have to be a fool to contend otherwise. Is it the End...as some are touting? Or just a tool that was let out to start the NWO? Can't say definitively, but I think my position is as good as most on it. I have now joined the growing list of those who have lost family and friends from this. Far too many over the last 3 months to not affect my past perspective and future commentary. Reaction to the Covid-19 from my family, friends, ex coworkers and even those of us here...has been varied, to say the least. From acceptance to hysteria and to total denial. I've been the black sheep/total waste/whack-job of my family all my life, and generally regarded as a lost cause. So if I give you pause to think with some of my wild-assed opinions and comments, I've done my part to open a few eyes I hope. Now a little less morbid comment. We seem to have reached a middle ground now. Most agree that it is real, no matter its source and origin or purpose. But we are searching deeper into its birth. That may yield a few surprises yet. People have died from it. Fact. Politicians, World Leaders, The CDC, and the UN have made use of this pandemic to further a mad power grab. So far it seems to be working quite well for them all. Whether we as individuals, as a nation, or as a world...will survive and return to "normal" is still to be seen. Removal of the current leadership is a must to achieve it. For my money, it's a poor chance in front of us. Yes, I am a borderline pessimist. And getting worse by the day. But I believe everything I have written here. Whether you agree with a little, a lot, or just think I'm a fat old fool. It's your choice. Just like the vaccinations...it's all up to you. Now as to "Uncle Phil" Valentine, for many and varied reasons; I hope and pray he recovers from this. Because I like him, and will be looking forward to hearing his observations and opinions now. Ok...done. Yeah, I'm a long-winded sort. Even when typing. If you read all this, I thank you. Agree or not. Just my own opinions.

And he spent the better part of an hour railing on the vaccine and how we done KNOW that its safe because its not fully FDA approved yadayadayada. I hope folks will realize before its too late that this is a deadly disease and the best way to live is get a vaccine, set all the political bull #### aside. I'm all for you right to choose NOT to get it, but I think too many people are being swayed by bad logic and political rhetoric that's not founded in rational thinking

  20. That is absolutely normal. No test rides without cash in hand. I have never test ridden a bike unless it was a dealer. The stories of people wrecking bikes on test rides and then leaving the owner (or owners insurance) high and dry on the repairs are far to common. I have never allowed anyone to ride any of my bikes without cash in hand. I will let them sit on it, I will start it, I will run it up and down the road in front of them but unless they have handed me a wad of cash they are not going to ride it out of my garage. If they ride it and find some issue or wish to back out of the deal for whatever reason I will negotiate or simply hand them their money back.

  23. I own and run a B to B barter exchange. In other words part of what I do is manage our currency. For 19 years now my practice has been to not extend loans or print money. It has worked well to protect the value of our currency. Wish the Fed Gov would try that. Currently our currency is tied to the US dollar. Looking at options for the future.

  24. I remember this day, Apr.25, 1967, as if it was yesterday. We were on a search & destroy mission in "Nam, walked into an ambush. I was hit twice with auto weapons fire in the R. leg, several times with the old Chicom "tater" masher grenades. Some of the fragments are still in there. Spent 16 mos. in an Army hospital, almost lost the R. leg, still got it tho., even if it is a bit shorter that the left. A couple of others were hit the same time I was. Another guy was killed later. We were almost overrun, but managed to fight our way out of it, wiped them out. Not one of my better days.

  25. One thing that should be worrisome; it's summer and we're still tracking enough cases to be worth analyzing. People can spend time outdoors with fresh air, sunlight, and all the other things we generally associate with reducing the risk of a virus, but COVID-19 seems to find a way, though. This thing isn't over, and we still need to worry about how it can impact resources domestically...hopefully not in the same way we were worried a year ago. As MacGyver points out, overseas is a different story, and I hope we remember the risks associated with the just-in-time supply chain model we're dependent on from outside our borders. Vaccine wise, I got both doses and I'm glad I did. Now if it hits me, it should (statistically speaking), be equivalent to a rough cold and not a possible mortality risk. Don't get me wrong, I'm not out looking to catch it now for the experience...I just enjoy that protection and hope as many as possible join the shield wall it provides. It's nice to go to a restaurant, the grocery store, and have meetings in person without a mask.

  35. I think I've got some about that old. I once bought a lot of 25 cal bullets from a guy on another forum. I think they weighed 60 or 70 pounds. They were less than $100 from what I can remember. A really vast assortment. When I got home one evening, There was a trail from the driveway to the backdoor on the patio where the mail delivery lady had dragged one of those USPS basket things. LOL! She just left them in the basket, bless her heart. She later told my wife, "I don't know what it is your husband buys, but it sure is heavy!" We have a good assortment of 257 Roberts and 250-3000 chambered rifles. Hopefully, this 25-06 will give me a chance to dispose of some of the heavier bullets in the collection.

We didn't use the extra hospitals built or ships designated for covid. 2.2 million didn't die and everybody in America didn't lose somebody they break bread with, as Fauci predicted.

  42. Everybody has a valid "argument". But that doesn't change the fact that hospitals pre-vaccine were overrun with Covid patients who all of a sudden couldn't breathe so well and etc. How many folks with other ailments who croaked simply due to the previous norms for care being impaired we'll never know. The fact that it's happening again in the US, where anyone can get the ouchie on a moment's notice, just reinforces my glass half empty view of the species, or at least the Murican subspecies in this case. Hell, at least half the world can't even get the vax at all. - OS

  43. I mean, it's a gun forum, right? Everyone's had a boo boo....I know there's ex military & police dudes here so come on, fess up. Who's been shot? Where, how, why & please explain to the uninitiated what it felt like. I'll go first. All of these were accidents (the last was entirely my fault & the shame hurt FAR more than the injury) First: I was 17. Recruited to the British Army long range shooting team & training for the Queens trophy at Bisley. I took a 7.62 ricochet thru my right knee. It bounced off 2 brick walls before it hit me & I honestly don't remember a thing. I heard a bang (I was working targets in the range butts) then woke up in a hospital. Wheel chair for 3 weeks, crutches for another 6, then physio for a couple of months. I remember that it felt like..... well, like I'd been freaking shot. Second was the week after I quit the physio.... my best bud & I were rabbit hunting (we're both 17...) with .22s. We were having a great day, probably had 35 bunnies in the bag. I shot a really good hare & my 'buddy' (foreshadowing...) decided it'd be funny as all get out to make its head explode, just as I'm picking it up. Well, he missed. Put a .22 short through my hand. Literally just got the all clear from the army, medical discharge & all that & my bestest best friend in the world shattered my right hand pinky knuckle, 3 metatarsal bones & my right index finger knuckle. I passed out at the impact, but came to 30 seconds later feeling like a red hot soldering iron had been shoved thru my hand. Stupid thing, the really stupid thing.... is that I didn't tell anyone for 5 days. I was more worried about getting him in trouble than anything else. My hand was black & the size of a cantaloupe when my mum took me to the hospital (I lied & told her I'd hit it on a rusty nail.) The doctors fixed my hand & dug the slug out from next to my thumb. He's just finished serving a 25 year sentence for killing 2 people back in the UK, by the way. Got out in August last year, apparently. Kinda wish I'd known what he was like in '91....... The third (yeah, I know.....) was entirely my own stupid fault. I won't go into details because, well......no. Nothing bad, nothing cagey, I'm frankly just ashamed because this was totally on me. Ar10 (not mine) with which I was very unfamiliar. I had it muzzle up in a truck & decided (because I'm a tit) that muzzle down would be safer (hahahahaaaaaa!) In my infinite wisdom, I decided to invert the rifle & this bit I don't remember. The safety was off. Not a doubt in my mind, I screwed up. 110% my own doing, not an excuse in the world is going to change that. Now...I don't know if my finger was on the trigger, in the trigger guard or not. Maybe the seat organizer of the driver I was sat behind got in there, maybe fate, God, karma....I honestly do not know. But; something hit the trigger. And the recoil made it a double tap. I, frankly, shat myself. Everyone in the vehicle shat themselves. I have never experienced a moment of shame like it & I pray I never do again. To this day, the thought of what happened & more importantly what COULD'VE happened keeps me awake. It's a feeling I cannot shake. Having been shot twice at this point (and shot AT quite a bit. Now that ####'s scary), this instance was hands down THE most terrifying. Because it was me. It was my fault. I screwed up. Royally. Nothing that occurred can be attributed to anything. Anything, but my negligence. So, I drilled 2 (TWO), 150gn .308 soft points BETWEEN MY BIG TOE & THE TOE NEXT TO THE BIG TOE I DONT KNOW WHAT IT'S CALLED DAMMIT DON'T JUDGE ME! An inch in literally 3 out of 4 directions & if have lost, at best, a toe. At worst, literally my entire f'king foot! (Srsly, not exaggerating) Best I can describe the feeling, physically, was like having an anvil dropped on my foot from about 20 feet. However. The pain IMMEDIATELY disappeared once I realized what'd happened and that it was me that'd screwed up. The physical shock, however; the realization of the situation etc.... knocked the ever living tar out of me. I cried. I panicked. I profusely apologized to everyone. I hyperventilated. I tried to make jokes because that's my default "oh....####" setting. I cried a bit more. I finally realized that the only person physically hurt was me & honestly, I might kinda oughtta think about maybe doing something about that. Took off my boot, nothing odd looking. Took off my sock: bloody, but not weirdly shaped. Looked at my hoof....... RIGHT BANG SLAP between the little piggies. I almost. Almost took up religion, sobriety & veganism at that point. There have, been zero negative effects (other than the continuing sleepless nights, guilt & shame) & the skin came back very nicely. Anyone else here as unlucky, foolish or clumsy as me? TL,DR; Robbie's been shot 3 times. It really, really f'king hurts.

  45. Both sides are doing this. I have received unsolicited text messages from friends and family telling me why I shouldn't get the dangerous vaccine. They included links to videos of unknown doctors telling about the "risks". In my life the folks that won't get it have been FAR more vocal about it. As soon as my mom called it poison it became clear she wasn't going to get it and I never mentioned it again.

  46. This kind of story worries me. OP failed to maintain his lane in traffic, something I see too much of. The guy behind him reacts in a negative way, OP escalates, then claims he exercised restraint and would have been justified to kill the other guy. OP makes a point of saying that people think he's Billy Bad Ass and walks with "a swagger", though the other driver couldn't have known that during the event in question. Those comments say something about his attitude. Scary stuff, and just the sort of thing that the anti-gun crowd eats with a spoon. I am generally armed when I'm driving a car, generally not when I'm riding my motorcycles. I decided long, long ago to avoid confrontational situations, and to react to every unavoidable confrontational situation as if I were NOT armed unless there is absolutely no alternative. As Dralarms suggested, usually a friendly wave and recognition of your error (and OP DID make an error by failing to maintain his lane) will diffuse the situation. It's pretty easy to wave and say "sorry" even if you don't feel at fault in the situation. It would be pretty hard, and very expensive, to live with shooting someone over a situation that started a simple case of poor driving.
