This one should be here this week. Started out as a 1962 S&W then ended up at Clark Customs in 1976 to be turned into a PPC competition gun. This one is in 38spl.4 points

A three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ruled Tuesday that the federal ban against 18-20-year-olds buying handguns is unconstitutional. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/07/13/federal-appeals-court-handgun-purchase-ban-for-18-20-year-olds-unconstitutional/3 points

So if you wouldn't bring a rifle into the hotel then you'd leave it in the vehicle unattended in the parking lot? It's coming into the hotel with me (and everything else I don't want stolen) and getting taken with me when I leave the room. I don't even like leaving my clothes in a hotel room unattended.... Now the biggest problem here is that it was in Chicago with their draconian gun laws. If this were Jackson MS, or Memphis Tn, or Savannah GA, or Fort Walton FL, or Harrisburg PA, or Shepherdsville KY, or Little Rock AR or Prescott AZ, or Ann Arbor MI, or any number of other cities I have traveled to either taking or teaching classes or just simply vacationing (with a long gun and loaded mags each time) then this would not be an issue. But the fact that it was A in Illinois and B in Chicago is where this becomes a problem and C if you are going to have to leave it in the room you are going to need to put the do not disturb sign up and hide it somewhere like behind the fridge or somewhere that the casual observer does not see without having to put forth some effort.3 points

Thanks for everyone's input! After work, I ran to the grocery store for things to make BLTs for dinner. On the way I stopped at my LGS and checked out their selection. I found a like new Mossberg Maverick with a FDE colored stock set and the 7 shot extended tube magazine for $200. It's in lay-a-way for the next couple of weeks, then it will come out. I swear I don't think it's been fired. No scratches on it or anything! They said an ex-employee came in and traded it in. He'd had it at a cabin and never used it. It does have the bead front sight, and not a rifle blade, but I've shot them before and I'm comfortable with it. I think it's a bargain! Think I will still look at picking up one of those Benelli clones in the future though.3 points

I don’t feel that this is a dead horse issue. It’s getting more and more alarming. The DNC now wants to censor your personal text messages if they are deemed to contain misinformation about covid. Who determines what is or isn’t misinformation? ”Biden allied groups, including the Democratic National Committee, are also planning to engage fact-checkers more aggressively and work with SMS carriers to dispel misinformation about vaccines that is sent over social media and text messages.” https://www.politico.com/news/2021/07/12/biden-covid-vaccination-campaign-4992783 points

The six-shot revolver is enough for probably 97% of the scenarios any of us will encounter while out and about in our everyday lives. Until the data that has validated this for a ridiculously long time shows otherwise, I wouldn't get too over analytical on conjecture. If we truly need more, the spidey sense should be tingling before the real life range is hot and an egress is the far better option. Seeing some BLM/Antifa mobs on TV shouldn't fear drive everyday decision making if you're otherwise practicing good situational awareness.3 points

Here is an article about NYPD and their shooting prowess.... https://citylimits.org/2016/11/29/nypd-gets-pressure-from-the-right-on-guns/ Pay attention to this passage.... According to the NYPD’s annual firearms discharge report, individual officers fired fewer than 15 rounds in 89 percent of the combat incidents in which the NYPD was involved last year. Sixty-five percent of officers involved in what the PD calls “adversarial” shootings in 2015 fired five or fewer bullets. What that just said is that in 35% of the incidents they fired more than 5 and in 11% they fired 15 or MORE .2 points

Academy Sports has been having the Mossberg 88 Security lately for $199. That is the best buy in a defense shotgun that I have seen. I have a Mossberg 590 and a Remington 870 both but bought a Maverick anyway at that price.2 points

There are many people in this country that carry guns anywhere they want everyday and are not restricted at all by what the gun laws are. They probably number in the millions. They also commit armed robbery, murder, rape, sell drugs, rob banks, burglarize homes, jack cars and trucks, commit home invasions and such like. They will continue to carry guns anywhere they want everyday and will not be restricted at all by what the gun laws are. They probably number in the millions.2 points

As I stated in the other thread, I had several Suzuki Intruder 1400's, which are the chopper style, and one Boulvard 1500, all good bikes. Moved up to a HD Road King, did some engine mods to it before I even rode it and was tickled to death with it and it's performance/ride. The RK is a step below the full blown touring bikes with just hard saddle bags, no touring trunk or full fairing. Weight was around 800# +/-. The HD handled better at slow parking lot speeds than the Suzuki's did, and rode better overall. I had a 2000 MY, with air adjustable shocks on the rear which they stopped offering soon after I got mine. Engine mods made the bike run like a scalded dog, and could cruise the roads in E TN with "authority".2 points

I am not disagreeing with you, however I would love to hear their definition of "shall not be infringed".2 points

DUMB ASS, granted. But Chicago criminalizes that, and that is wrong. And the cost to defend being a DUMB ASS is immense. And that is wrong. Why is sacrosanct Chicago not subject to all of the normally recognized laws of our country that protect our citizens, including the Bill of Rights?2 points

Good news that doesn’t really change much. Another circuit court will put in an injunction. The Supreme Court needs to make some rulings.1 point

From someone who carries a suppressed AR 10 through a lobby of a motel 5 or 6 times a year, this seems alien to me. To be honest, I usually only have 250-300 rounds on me. The funniest moment was when I was covered head to toe with blood at a Denny's with a white buddy of mine at 3:00 am. We were talking to a black couple for an hour about everything. Great people and great waitress. Not one person batted an eye or asked what the hell was going on. GOD BLESS TEXAS.1 point

I didn't want a big dresser. I went from my Dyna to a Road King. It is still a motorcycle, not a car with two wheels. Mine is an older one, `12FLHP, got a it cheap with like 15k miles on it. I ride the hell out of it and it handles like a bike half it's size. Did my Iron Butt on it last year and didn't need anything other than a windshield.1 point

I got a Churchhill 612 for like $250, pistol grip, rail, sights. I put a light on it, extended magazine and a sidesaddle. I was under $400 for everything and it eats whatever I feed it.1 point

I was actually looking for a Dyna Lowrider when I ran across this deal on my Street Glide Special. Still wish I had found a smoking deal on a Dyna, or especially a Heritage, which is what I’m looking for now. Keep in mind that the Fat Boy is a Softail as well, just like the Heritage you rode. If possible, take that 2007 to a good Harley tech and see if they have a way to check the crank. I’ve heard ‘07 was not a good year for cranks, but of course don’t take my word for that. While you’re searching you might start looking up some videos on better/worse year models for whichever style you want. Kevin Baxter has some good videos out there, along with other pros. I’m not a pro, I just play one in my dreams. So my advice is worth slightly less than what you paid for it.1 point

Academy also has the Savage Stephens 320 for $229 that has a pistol grip stock if that is better for you. Shows in Stock in Johnson City. https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/savage-stevens-320-12-gauge-pump-action-shotgun?sku=right-12-gauge-18-51 point

IMO, a RK is a suitable LD touring bike IF set up for it. I put a Corbin saddle w/ backrest on mine, a low to med height windscreen and lower wind deflectors on the forks. I rode this bike to Daytona Bike week from East TN, a mix of 2 lane and interstate. Interstate traffic is a bit different with the big rigs blowing you around more than 2 lane roads. Wind buffeting/noise at 70 mph was not bad and tolerable making a 300 mile day easy to do IMO. I usually split a trip to Daytona up over 2 days just cause I wanted to enjoy the trip. Ear plugs reduce the wind noise and still allowed me to hear traffic on the interstate. I even towed a Bushtec trailer behind the RK for a couple yrs as well, so you can really pack "heavy" if desired. I still have a travel bag that slips over the backrest pad and will hold enough clothes for a week if you pack right, and don't have to have a clean shirt twice a day. Is a RK a good as a full touring bike, I can't say because I never had a desire for a full fairing bike nor ever rode one, so take what I say with some salt if desired. LOL You should decide what style/type of bike you want/need for the type of riding you want or intend to. Just day rides, or wanna go cross country, to bike week, etc.1 point

I would agree with the above if you want a Harley. If I was buying a Harley now, it would be a road king most likely unless I was planning to do any real distance travelling, then I would probably go for a Road Glide. I had a 14 street glide special that was a really nice bike. I would look for something from 2009 and up as the touring frame was update that year and has some improvements. I am in the middle of overanalyzing myself, but I am leaning more towards an adventure bike now. I will ride 90% of the time on road, but want the ability to do some light off road if I get a hankering, so lighter is important. I also want to sit fairly straight. The challenge is many of the ADV bikes are tall. I am not short (6'1"), but flat footing some of them is a challenge with a 32" inseam.1 point

I didn't personally know anyone at all who has died of Covid. So according to your premise, it's valid to surmise nobody has died of it at all. - OS1 point

Medical prevention/treatment of any malady is all about probability based on the availability of scientific evidence. In the US, some 600 Covid vaccinated people have so far been documented to have died with Covid itself being the primary cause of death. Compare with the +600K non-vaccinated folks who Rona croaked. I'll take the odds offered by that "worm" any day. - OS1 point

I've read multiple stories now about people who didn't want the vaccine, got COVID, and subsequently died. I wonder, if in their last conscious thoughts, they are still glad they stuck it to Fauci and the rest. "Tricia Jones, a 45-year-old mother of two in Grain Valley, a small city in western Missouri, did not get the vaccine because she was concerned about the side effects. Her mother, Deborah Carmichael, had felt sick after getting a shot, and Jones decided to wait. This spring, Jones caught the virus. She was hospitalized May 13 and died June 9. Now, as Sherae Honeycutt of Fox4 in Kansas City writes: Her family is praying people will see Tricia’s life as a call to action to get their vaccine — if not for themselves, for the ones they love. “Please take this seriously. You don’t want to see a family member you love go through this,” Carmichael said. “You have a way better chance of coming out OK than if you don’t.” “I really miss you. I miss you a lot,” Adriana [Jones’s 18-year-old daughter] said."1 point

Avoid blue cities. Maybe when they lose revenue things will change. If the story is true, the individual needs to learn how to secure his weapons. He’s lucky the cleaning staff didn’t sell the weapons.1 point

With all of the guns floating around Chicago if he was going to be forced to go there for any reason I would say he didn't have enough with him if he would have had to defend himself and he would be seriously out gunned.1 point

The “rifle” mags in that pic aren’t loaded, the pistol mags are. My understanding is the “rifle” was loaded. Did they unload those clips so they wouldn’t spontaneously jump up into the gun and start a massacre before the photo-op?1 point

Yes i can confirm that is an arsenal if you look at their playbook. Now my playbook suggests that's just daily carry stuff. Lord help me if they look in my truck. Lol. I will say if I had to travel to certain areas in our country common sense would prevail and I would "declutter" and follow their laws to a T. Not worth risking everything by doing aomething stupid.1 point

This is just my opinion, the man’s first mistake was going to Chicago with firearms on his person. The second mistake was leaving a loaded rifle with magazines loaded in a hotel room overlooking a busy street. I just have two words for this “DUMB ASS”!!!1 point

We have had a 3 person Early Rifle Elk Hunt donated to us by an outfitter near Missoula, MT that one of our committee members has worked for in the past. It is a backcountry hunt valued at $13,200, however, we will be selling chances on it for $50/chance and we are going to try and reward it at the banquet. Need not be present to win.1 point
